hi Girls just thought I'd update to a new thread the other is getting a little long. Never know a new thread may bring along a lovely angel (well here's wishing). How lovely it would be to bring on a new year with a lovely new little human being the spitting image of my dh(poor me if he/she is a practical joker like him) lol.I would love to spend the next christmas hearing the gurgly laughter of a little one and seeing dh's face light up giving out the gifts from santa. Have a great chrissy girls and lets hope there are lots of little bundles of joy on their way to us all in 2007:kiss:

Hey HOPING123, I hope this doesn't sound really ignorant but can anyone be an egg donor?
For example, if you found someone yourself who said they would donate their egss could that happen or do you have to go to a certain place where they pick who donates etc?
hoping123
18-12-2006, 11:55 AM
Yes shanilee anyone can be a donor. The clinics prefer you to be under 35 and finished having your own family. Most cases you need to find someone yourself that is why we need to ask for help on here. There are some anonymous donors but they are very very rare. hope this answers you question:wave:

I believe that you also need to have finished breast feeding before you can start cycling. I am by no means certain though...
Cheers

Hi girls,
We are still here and the search is still on. Please all you kind ladies before approaching a receipient make sure you have all the facts on donating and are really sure you do wnat to go through with it. It is so disheartening to have your hopes brought up so and come crashing down the next day when you find out the person offering has no idea what is involved and when they do they back out.:gloomy:

Hi there! I've been following your story for quite a while and am amazed you haven't found your angel! :( But it got me wondering, i know many recipients search for something in particular, often appearance-wise, age, etc. So i thought i'd ask, perhaps to help future donors, if there is anything specific you are looking for: Location (i see you are in Sydney, are you looking for someone close by?)/Age & Family Situation (i know its often preferred for donors to have finished their own families)/Appearance (does it at all bother you to find someone with similar features, colourings, etc, to yourself?).
Just wondering, not wanting to bother you. For years i've thought of egg donation, and i know a lot about it, but always assumed i was too young. And now i've had a child and am single; i always just assume no one would want an egg donor who is 24 and a single parent with only one child.
Is this a bad assumption/outlook to have?
I really wish you all the best in your search. I've also read posts from you in Sarah & Dianas thread and you seem so lovely and you so much deserve to fulfil your wish :)

hi Dooce83,
your questions are all vaild ones. Age and appearance are of no concern to us. Nor is wether the donor is single or not. All we are looking for is some kind hearted person to help fullfill our desire to bring a much loved and treasured child into this world. hope this answers your questions. feel free to pm me if you want to.:hugs:
Just thought I'd stop by ans see how your search was going? You seem to have some lovely ladies very interested in helping - :fingerscrossed: that one of them is able to help you...

Thankyou Roxy,
Looks like our search for a donor is going to take us out of state as there seems to be a drought on donors here in sydney. Not sure how we go about doing things interstate and our clinic here hasn't been much help since they told us to go and find a donor. I'm sure it will all fall into place for us one day.
That's a bit of mixed news!
I have done an interstate donation - so feel free to ask away! I'm in Canberra, and my recipients are in Melbourne, and we cycled with MIVF...

I have thought about it in the past but never done anything about it. What is the technical side of donating eggs?
I have three fabulous boys and we have finished our family. Though we do have twins/triplets on my side of our family.

I just found a phone number for the brisbane clinic on someone else's thread. I'd love to finally do this but I really just want to find out more technical stuff like how much physical time it takes, how much it will cost me and what actually takes place to make it happen

hi there.
To answer a few of your questions. The main part of egg donation takes about two- three weeks. During that time there is injections for about the first 10-14 days during that time there are also blood tests and scans to see how many follicles you are producing once you are at the stage for epu its a short day surgery trip in which they put you to sleep and extract the eggs. As for cost there is no cost for you the recipient pays for all medical costs. There are also counselling sessions before you start everything to make sure you are tottaly aware of everything that is going to happen. There is a sticky thread at the top of this forum which will also give you some info and a lot of the girls who have allready donated will be more than happy to help you with any info.:hugs:
jocoda
11-07-2007, 04:07 PM
I'm not really concerned about the emotional side of it for me as I've been thinking about it for so long now I think I've already accepted any of that side of it :)
I have 3 boys already and their quite active so it was more how much time I would need to take away from work/kids that kind of thing. I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see if they can give me the details
