Hi. Today I recieved my Green Kids nappies.:smiliedance: They are in the wash now. I also want to try the Baby Beehinds nappies and am taking advantage of the discount available.:)

My question is which ones do I buy? The hemp or the bamboo? Should I try one of each? Also, do I have to buy a PUL cover for these? Do I just buy one cover? Im afraid to use the wool covers incase I stuff them up in the wash.

Any answers would be much appreciated!

You can buy a trial pack which has one of each and 1 PUL cover and 1 wool cover.

I personally prefer the bamboo, they are more absorbant but take FOREVER to dry on the line :)

With the bamboo ones I was thinking I'd get a pink one but then the cover goes over it anyway so is there any point getting the coloured one?

There's pro's and con's to both the hemp and bamboo. The hemp are trim and absorbant (not as much as the bamboo) but can get a bit scrunchy (I don't find this a problem). The bamboo is really absorbant and soft but not quite as trim.
I'd order 1 of each to trial. They both need covers.

Wool covers are extremely easy to use and there's almost no effort in washing them!! In fact, you can go about 6 wks without washing them so long as they don't get poo/food etc on them as the lanolin neutralizes the wee. I highly recommend trying either one of BB's wool wraps and/or trying a wool soaker.

Thanks for that. I'll get the trial pack with one of each I think.

How long do the hemp take to dry?

I actually don't bother putting a cover on when we're home so I get to enjoy the colour! Particularly with the bamboo, because they take so long to soak through it's pretty safe to leave a cover off - wouldn't do it if going out and about though.

Yeah, but you can still see how cute they are BEFORE you put the cover on. I just like the look of my nappies all folded up in the cupboard. BBH are some of the nicest nappies out there imo anyway :)

So are wool covers better/more effective than PUL covers? Or do they just look/feel nicer?

I use the wool covers for night mainly, but I do also use them during the day, and the PULs during a normal hemp nappy use during the day. It's really personal choice. The PULs are easy to throw in the wash with your other nappy but like Grem said you don't need to wash the wool very often.
Just air them out between uses.

Sorry to answer your question the wool soakers probably are more effective than the PUL, particularly at night.

I got my Baby Beehinds trial pack in the post today!! :yelclap:

The question is.... how the hell do I use them!! PMSL!!!

I was showing them off to the girls at work (desperately trying to convince them to at least CONSIDER cloth) and I really didn't know what the heck I was doing!!

HELP!! :o

Once you start using them on baby they will make sense - do you have a teddy or doll to practice on?

I prefer bamboo and wool soakers - very effective and work well for us. They only get wet on the outside cos Master Av thinks its funny to spill water all over himself...

I'm planning on buying some Baby Beehinds nappies one day soon too...but now I'm more confused about which type to get.

I saw some on ebay while browsing earlier today that are bamboo & organic cotton, something like that. Does anyone have any idea what these are like? I think they were selling for around $25...

Yes, the bamboo & organic cotton ones on ebay for 24.23 are the same Bamboo ones that everyone is talking about. They are great!

Leila's mummy - if you are just trying the babybeehinds, you will only need one cover - but if you are using fitted nappies you will need at least 4 (so that there are enough to use one on baby, have on airing and have the others in the wash). I use both wool and PUL covers on Olivia - wool is great at night. However, I have had to use PUL covers the last few nights, cause I have been too lazy to lanolise the woolen covers after washing them :banghead: Better go do it!

From memory, the night trial pack comes with a bamboo or hemp fold up, a wool & pul cover and 2 nappies... at least that's what I got.

Yes, I would try getting one of each (bamboo and hemp) to see what you like. But bamboo is fantastic. Unlike gremly, I think it is TRIMMER than the hemp - it's very marginal though. Also, because it is more absorbant, it doesn't need as much boosting, but takes a little longer to dry.

Regarding the colour for the bamboo... I think it is nice when you're putting the nappy on bub and on/off the line - it's also nice for when you are showing people the nappies and trying to convince them to try cloth, lol! If you are going to get them for fulltime, I wouldn't get them all colour though.

Shananaaah - did the nappies come with the instruction leaflet?? It all makes sense if you just play with them for a few minutes - if you don't have bub yet, then I'd definately try on a doll!

i got my trial pack the other day, now i have about 14 bbh  ...I use the bamboo for nights with a wool cover and use the small snap in and the bamboo fold up...no leaks not too bulky either  I dont have any problems with the hemp going scratchy and they take about 4 hrs to dry if that when its about 35 degrees.
In the trial pack you will also get a hemp booster, i havent used that yet though! If u buy a trial pack i'd suggest getting some liners too to make it easier to clean up!
With the bamboo i had no coer on for 1 hr yesterday and i got wet  My bubby is really heavy wetter
