Ok, i am freaking out about this coming saturday!
I am organising my own baby shower, and i have 35 guest coming!!
I want to play games in case people who dont know each other arent really socialisiing, but the more games i try to see everyone playing, the more bored i can see people getting!!
Its such a large number of people, should i just not bother playing games, and just have people there for afternoon tea??
Also what kind of foods should i serve for that amount???
Please help, im stressing myself out big time!! :banghead:

Finger foods and dips (my cob loaf is kickin :D) - would be the best.
Games.. Hmmm. Im not the best for that, I dont like to be put on the spot when im in those situations like some of those games make u do...
just make all food self serve so u dont do anything!

Check out the online service directory on BH as they have sites that do baby showers for you....eg they come out to your place and have party games prepared, small gifts etc for free.....some do a gift registry kind fo thing so guest can buy you a gift then and there at the shower.
I know that the body shop does something similar and can come out to you and do like mini manicures/facials for your guests etc.

Hmmm thanks nemosmum... But i have left it until the very last minute. Its this saturday!
I dont think it could be organised in that short amount of time...
Will teach me for leaving things until the last minute :shame:
Bekky~ I think finger food is a good option... But i have no idea what to provide how much to provide etc...
ALSO-> Does anyone have a good alcoholic punch recipe?
I have a few books on baby showers (I went through a stage where I was going to set up a business, but didn't end up doing it...). Even at the last minute, some services may be happy to come out & run a shower for you :)
Signature Bingo is always fun - make up a grid of 5 x 5 squares & in each square put a statement - eg the person who travelled the furthest, someone related to the Mum to Be, someone wearing a black bra, etc. Photocopy the sheet & give it to everyone. Instruct your guests to collect signatures of someone they don't know well who matches that statement - and only one person can sign each box. This is a great icebreaker game. You can have a prize for the person who finishes first, or the one with the most signatures at the end of the shower.
There are more games - but I don't want to type too much in case I lose the post. Let me know if you want more game ideas :)

What time of day is the baby shower? If it's after lunch maybe you could have a few platters with cheese, bikkies, cabanossi, a few dips. Or if you just want to serve afternoon tea you could have some yummy cakes, or muffins or cupcakes.
I've been to a few showers where i only knew a few people and a game or two is good, as sometimes you can end up sitting around not talking to many people. It gives everyone something to do. 2 games is enough. After the games you will sit around opening all the pressies and that can take quite awhile so you don't want to overdo it.
As for games, an easy game that doesn't involve people getting up in front of each other is a "trivia quiz" A few different ideas are 'celebrity offspring' You name the parent/s and guests write down their child/ren names. Or you could do 'animal offspring'. The 'guess how big mums tum' is also an easy game. Just use ribbon, string or toilet paper and ask guests to cut how long they think it is around mums belly. Have a few small boxes of choccies on hand as prizes.
Oh, another game, again along the bingo line, is a gift bingo. Give each guest a blank bingo card & get them to fill in the squares with what they think you'll be given - as you unwrap your gifts they can cross out the boxes. The first to get Bingo, and the first to fill their card can get a prize.

for games i filled a baby bottle with jelly beans count how many you put in there and then everyone guesses and closest wins the bottle of jelly beans i did sculling game fill bottles with water juice oor champaigne and whoever sucks the drink tgrough the quickest wins a prize then guess babies stats like boy/girl eye colour hair colour ummm weight length and before or after due date... then keep all the pieces of paper that ppl worte their guesses and who ever gets the closest once the bub is born gets a prize or put people in teams and give them toilet rolls and they pick one person from the team to make a nappy with the toilet paper u judge it and pick the best one and have little lolly bags for the team that wins. food... lets see i had fairy bread chips dips crackers cheese pop corn lollies party pies and sausage rolls and just have a table with drinks on it like juice champaigne water and soft drinks and plastic cups and self serve everything hope it helps you :) good luck
Signature Bingo is always fun

That sounds like fun to me! I went to a babyshower once, and there were too many games... I think your guests will be happy to play 1 or 2, but mainly nibble and chat the afternoon away.
As for food - dips & biccies, bowls of nuts, mini franks, meatballs on sticks with dipping sauce, fruit platter... I'd probably stick with stuff that you can eat cold though, saves lot's of mad rushing about when you have people everywhere.
Good luck - and remember to HAVE FUN!!!

Thankyou jennasmum, MissieK, masonsMummy85 and mitchellsmummy,
They sound like good ideas for games...
mitchellsmummy ~ Did you find that with the amount of people there you were really bored or quite preoccupied?
I just dont want people to be sitting around twiddeling their thumbs!

Another game you could do if you want ppl to introduce themselves etc is to pass around a roll of toilet paper and ask everyone to tear off as much as they think is necessary... Once they have all torn their sheets off, you then tell them that for every square of toilet paper they have, they must say one thing about themselves!

I had my baby shower last sunday, we had about 15 people so not as many as you're expecting. My SIL organised it and we played a few games but had breaks where we spent some time chatting. About halfway thru she invited everyone to the kitchen to eat and she had done finger foods and sandwiches etc. There was also a cake and those that wanted it had tea/coffee. The day was nicely balanced.
I opened a thread last week with ideas including 10 games (we played about 6 of them)
Here is the link as it might help give you some ideas;
