Fertility Microscope - is it a peice of poo?

Hi all

we've been using the device that you get your saliva and analyse it...i am probably not allowed to say the name, suffice to say it is something along the lines of a device called "Possibly Infant"

either I am the worlds most fertile woman (which i doubt because we didnt fall in oct or nov) or it is shizen.

Basically you look for FERN patterns to tell if you are ovulating and i find no destinction that pin points a few days a month where it is "go time" - instead i am the FERNING MONSTER and Fern for approx 22 days a month!!! what the hell?

anyone using one of these - would be appreciating your help

Hi there, You sound teh opposite to me!! I get NO ferning at all, though I do get the lines on OPK.. I wondered, have you had any hormone test done?? It could just be a, as you put in your title "a peice of poo!!!" :laughing: or maybe you have to much of a hormone that makes it fern... Hmmmm... Keep us posted!!!

I have used the Mabey Baby before and that is how we conceived the first time and it worked fine for me:confused:

I am using maybe baby and it works for me, well I havn't got a :bfp: but I get furning for 1-2 days a month and PF for a few days before and after the FF. Today I got the pebbles.

Have you checked that it is clean after each use so that your not putting saliva on saliva YKWIM

I have a Maybe Baby also and it doesnt seem to work for me. I have PCOS and I have read that for some PCOS sufferers it can play up because of hormone levels.

Last time I used it it told me I was fertile (full ferning) when my hormones were infact 'baseline' (a big fat zilch!) which was confirmed by a blood test.

I dont use mine anymore...

mine is broken then, else i am a fern-a-moment

DH and I crack up at it - its FULL ferning most days too, FULL BIG all-screen ferns

every day i make sure its clean (looking at plain clean glass before i put my slobber on it)

oh well, maybe i am infertile (hope not)
or maybe i am just an egg maker waiting to catch the spermies (hope so)

i hope i dont have PCOS as i dont even like acronyms (haha) and dont really want to find out that is the case AT ALL

It doesn't work for me either - I get ferning all the time.

My fertility specialist and GP both said they are pretty unreliable.

The ferning is caused by estrogen - so if you have naturally higher estrogen levels you will get constant ferning. Plus you will get ferning right before AF as you get an estrogen surge sometime around then.

I reckon the opk's are way better - but I do know that Maybe Baby works for some people.

I'd say poo is more useful. You can put it on the garden.

If you check the maybe baby site, it says that some women won't see anything due to their hormones.

I think people with PCOS are in that category.

I found mine to be useless and have given it away.

OPKs work better for me.

Nope didn't work for me either. Even when blood tests confirmed, there was still no ferns. I did get ferns during AF once.
I've got a few friends that it worked for though, just depends on the person I suppose.

worked fine for me.....are you sure they are ferns and not salt crystals as i used to get things that kind of looked like ferns but werent really when compared to the real ferns

over it. its CD28 and I have been shagged senseless all month. If I am not preg this month at least i can have some (some!!!???) port on xmas day...

and next month (if we are not P) we can chart temps or something

I was using maybe baby but am now using opk's - i have pco and found maybe baby to be unreliable because of this. You can buy opk's over the internet in bulk it is cheaper - buying them from a chemist you pay between $30 - $40 just for a pack of 5!
Try opk's - probably better for you.

I fern all the time. Haven't been diagnosed with pcos but have been referred to a FS as doc thinks i prob have it.

We've been trying since Feb O6 and still no :bfp: .

Think i will have to get onto internet and purchase some OPK.

Maybe Baby??? Maybe for some but not for all. Maybe Maybe they should have a 30 trial and if no ferns or always ferning you get your money back!

I don't have PCOS but doesn't work for me either - random ferning at random times in month.

My FS and GP also told me to ditch it and get on to the OPKs. Ovunow work great for me, I order them from www.fertilitysolutions.com.au (http://www.fertilitysolutions.com.au)

I found that there were 2 days out of the month that I wasnt ferning ... it just means you have naturally high oestrogen, so that test is no good for you ... you will have to probably resort to blood test tracking (as I am now) to find ovulation (sucks having blood tests every day around ovulation, let me tell you).
