Hi
I need some advice please guys! My DS has always been a bad day sleeper, catnapping for 40 minutes at a time. It was due to silent reflux, which we now have under control. I have been trying to get him to sleep longer in the day and he is just starting to do so (I don't think I had anything to do with it, it is just him!)
Anyway, he is currently still asleep and it has been 2 and a half hours. It is his bottle time and I don't know if I should wake him? Will this put him off his long night sleep tonight? (he normally sleeps 10 hours a night) It sounds crazy I know, but can he sleep too much during the day?

Hi Kez,
I wish my son would sleep 2 and a half hours during the day. My son also has silent reflux...
I have heard that 'the more a baby sleeps, the more they sleep'.... I don't know if its true, as my son hardly sleeps at all during the day...
I would tend to wake my son, if he actually sleeps, around this time, just to keep the dinner and bed time routine in place..
Maybe some other mums have some more advice....

DS was the same he was a terrible sleeper until we got his reflux under control and then he was doing two good 2 or 3 hour sleeps a day (when he was little) my motto is never wake a sleeping baby. In my experience it didnt really effect DS sleep at night(he sleeps a whopping 12 hours a night, thats my boy.....mummas so proud lol :D
It might mean that he'll go to sleep a little later than usual but he'll probably still sleep his regular ten hours (lucky you huh ;) ) If you do find his night sleeps are effected then try waking him after a certain amount of time.
Trial and error thats the only way to go.......Good luck :)

Thanks Mums!
He did wake up eventually after a record 2 and 3/4 hours sleep! He is a bit grumpy, but you are right I am a lucky Mum to have a good sleeper at night.
By the way Jacksmum, what are you doing for the reflux? I use a herbal and a homeopathic medicine for Kyle and I take him to see a woman who practices ortho-bionomy (like a osteopath) All 3 have combined to really help Kyle.
Cheers Kez

My son is on Zantac for the reflux... It has helped tremendously, he is such a different baby since he started it... He has never really slept well during the day, but obviously it is a lot better then before we started the Zantac..
During the day, he is mostly happy and will usually have a little nap in the afternoon but nothing over an hour.. At night he sleeps about 10 hours but I wake him for a feed before I go to bed...
