Hi all,
DS has recently taken to eating cardboard, paper anything associated with wood lol  his 15 months please tell me Im not alone that other bubs do this too???
Also he has suddenly stopped calling me "Mummy" and now just whinges "Neee neee" at me when he wants my attention (double ))
Everytime he does this I always paraphrase back to him eg "mummy, drink" or what ever it is he wants etc
He has about a 20 word vocab and uses words often but with me he gets lazy sometimes and just whinges for things......its driving me batty
can you tell?
All help welcome :)
Yesterday I gave ds the newspaper to play with for a few minutes while I was deeply engrossed with The Bold & Beautiful :o . Then I looked over at him and his mouth was stuffed full of munched up newspaper! He had eaten about half a page of the Sun Herald.
I fished out as much as I could. Ewwww. It was all soggy and gross. He loves sucking on cardboard too. He'd rather eat the rusk packet than the rusks!
My DS is another who loves paper - in fact when he is REALLY off his tree (no pun intended) often the only thing that will calm him down is to plonk him on his tummy with a newspaper in front of him. He can rip up a paper for aaaagggeeesss. Sure, it makes a mess and some of it gets in his mouth, but he really loves it. I just make sure I am sitting nearby (usually reading a book!) and yoink out any bits that he does put in his mouth.
He is in a 'tearing it up' phase - give him anything and he'll try to rip it in half. Unfortunately some things don't rip and he gets all red in the face trying to do it! You gotta laugh... He's a funny bugger!
My DS (15months) also loves paper, cardboard or anything of that nature. He loves all aspects of the toilet / paper towel roll. It makes a HUGE mess!!!
He also whinges to me for what he wants but doesn't have the vocab that your guy does. He has also stopped calling me mummy but loves to call out to daddy all the time. Who knows what they're thinking???? :p

Yeah DS does that too, whenever DH's around he always says "Diddy"his word for Daddy, but for me its like I dont get anything but "neh neh" its so frustrating as I know he has the words but is just being cheeky LOL :D
P.S we were at the shops last night and I gave DS a packet of biscutts to hold until we got to the counter, by the time we got there he'd chewed through the packet, there was this great big hole in the side of the box LOL
He was just using all of this new found independence to help himself to some food. You should be proud of his acheivements, as I'm sure the checkout chick was!! :p
The other day when we were shopping DS was a bit hungry and I had just put some fruit sticks in the trolley, so I opened them and gave him one. We hadn't paid for them yet, and DH (yes never take DH grocery shopping!) said, "you can't do that, you haven't paid for them!". I said, would you rather he screamed? Then DH says, "Well if he gets one I do too." He is such a child sometimes. Any way in the end we got to the check out with an almost empty packet of fruit sticks. It was pretty embarrassing!
