Morning (afternoon or evening) all!!
Has anyone had experiences with their childrens "invisible" friends??
My three year old has just started including "Kelly" in everything, from going out to including her in meals.......
Do you think I should be discouraging her, or just leave it be....... because I am thinking while it probably won't hurt her now having an invisible friend, maybe if "kelly" sticks around, we may encounter problems later, I just don't know!!
Your suggestions will be muchly appreciated!! Thanks....:reindeer:
aah leave her play.
when she's 25 her younger siblings will take geat delight in sending postcards from Kelly to her.
(noooo... I'm not an evil little sister :devil6:)
It sound quite normal to me. I had three invisible friends, but they played a very minor role in my life. My older sister, on the other hand, had several and they were very important to her when she was about 3.
She is now a perfectly normal, lovely, well adjusted 33 year old....... most of the time :p

My DD had several invisible freinds and it was quite eerie as she actually talked to them as if there really was someone else there and not just a child pretending. I still wonder if it wasn't ghosts as the house was over 100 years old but anyway I never discouraged it and she stopped after a few years.

 I have since discovered to ask where Kelly is before I sit down......oops!
You sat on Kelly??? Oh AM!!!! How could you?? LOL
Encourage it!! One of the greatests gifts children have is the gift of imagination and they should never, ever be afraid to use this!!!

Leave it be....let your daughter enjoy her friend and grow her imagination.
My sister had an imaginary friend when she was little....this friend lived in a purple house with a black kitchen and went to Mickey Mouse school, lol.

Leave her be - imagination is a wonderful thing! Sadly I never had any imaginary friends but my sister did until she was about 8. She is now (relatively) normal :p
now is your chance, phineas!
Becca and I often send Cameron emails from Gregor@gmail.com or something, I've received a post card from a west-coast hubber and next time remember I'm going to post it back to her so she can post it onto Cammy ;)
Oh Becca and I have good times at Cameron's expense.

I agree.....my sisters "friend" was called Amy. When Amy first turned up, we were living in a house where a little girl had drowned in the bath. Deceased girls name was Amy.....as we found out about 10yrs after we moved out.

I believe they are spirits coming for a visit.
They say children and animals are able to see spirits.
I wouldn't discourage it at all.
I had two 'friends' when I was a child and it was great.
My 3 year old son often plays with his little friend. Sometimes it gets a little embarrasing as he starts laughing and talking to it at the shopping centre.
In fact he was with my husband at the footy and started chasing it up the players entrance at Brookvale oval.

Just have to add, I don't know of anyone who has ever experienced problems in regards to an imaginary friend. It's just something that they grow out of.
