just wondering, is the TWW the time from O til AF is due? or if the date of conception is known and not date of O do you add 2 weeks to the possible conception date and test then?

I have no idea how it actually works.

Im not TTC but I got thinking about it the other night whilst chatting to a friend and she asked but I had no clue:o

how long after conception does the emby implant?

how long after conception can you get a positive HPT?

once pregnant, do you take it from the LMP start date or the conception date to figure out EDD?

what if you have really long cycles?

sorry there are so many Qs, thanks for any replies:D

Hi!

Not sure about the TWW. But EDD is taken from the first day of last period - regardless. There are online EDD calculators that take into account your cycle length.

Hope this helps a bit.

ok thats my main confusion. how can I take the EDD from last period if I didnt concieve til today for example(I didnt lol)

I looked at bubhubs EDD and put in the date of my last period and it said I concieved on the 3rd december approx and am already 3 weeks pregnant? how does that work if I only BDed today(and for all purposes of discussion actually caught the eggie)?

and how does it figure it out, my last cycle was 41 days long.

(just to add I am saying myself as an example im not preg or TTC I am purely trying to get a grasp of how this all works)

Pregnancy is actually only 38weeks long.
So you are right when you are four weeks pregnant your emby is only actually two weeks old but we still count pregnancy from the date of your last AF anyway, hence how we get 40weeks gestation.
Now that we can calculate O very accurately it is possible to choose your due date from the date of O but doctors still prefer to use LMP.
So I am 7weeks preggers now, but bubs is only 5weeks old.
So when you are 40weeks pregnant you are full term but your baby is actually only roughly 38weeks old depending on the date of conception.

2WW is counted from the day of O and the eggie can implant from anytime from 5 days past ovulation.
Most people need a few days after implantation for HCG to bulid up but I was lucky in that I got my first BFP at 6DPO so I must have implanted very early.
I got all of this information at the blackmores website which is in the link above left called: 40week preg email. You can register with the site to get their emails or just scroll through and read some interesting facts about pregnancy and conception.

I hope I made sense.:o

Hi Cel  - I am glad you brought all that timing stuff up as I just found I am pregnant on Friday and I know I only ovulated like 2 weeks ago but the calculator says I am 4 weeks pregnant. I was quite confused but you girls have cleared things up for me.

Thanks!
