Hi,

Our son is wriggling around so much in his cot that he is banging his head against the side of his cot, sometimes ending up sideways and all tangled up. This is causing him to cry out during the night. He is 3 months old and has been in his cot for a few weeks but has just started this in the last week or so.
Has anyone had a similar experience or got any suggestions. He is generally quite unsettled at the moment. I am not sure if this is because he is not sleeping well at night .....

Hi There
Are you wrapping your son? A firm wrap might make him more comfortable and less likely to move around and get tangled up. Hope something helps soon!

Hi Morgan's mum,
My Harry was wrapped for very sleep until he was 7 months old. I would put him down for a sleep and go back to him when he called out to me, still in the same spot I left him. He is now 9 months old and the first thing I noticed when I stopped wrapping him was the movement and laps he would do around the cot. He has ended up in the most weirdest positions and it has left me and my Dh wondering how on earth he got like that. When we go to bed at night I check on Harry and if need be I re position him back under the sheet. I dress him a little bit warmer so he doesn't get cold during the night.
I don' t think there is much you can do if you are not wrapping. Sorry this doesn't help much, but just knowing that some other babies do the same thing can help.
Good luck.

Hi Morgans Mum,
Our little girl Caitlyn who is now almost 6 months old has alway slept between two pieces of triangle foam to hold her in place as she has never liked to sleep on her back and this helps her to stay on her side. We lived in Darwin until recently so wrapping was not really an option in the heat. There are various brands available but I got mine from Big W and it was only around $30. She has just started to wiggle upwards out of it but up until then it has kept her firmly in place. She started trying to roll over at 9 weeks so it provided much needed comfort that she would not roll over in the night and be unable to turn over again.
Best of luck
Jo :)

I can relate! At around 3-4 months my dd got so excited about being able to move that she had limbs hanging out of her cot sides but didn't have the strength to pull herself free.

As she was such a wriggler the wrap only worked when she was really tired otherwise she's breakfree. I ended up tying a large mulim square over the cot sides so she couldnt get her arms and legs out. Muslim still allows for air to circulate but saves those limbs. We would put her at the very end of her cot - still managed to bump her head but I think it worried me more than her.

Happily she grew out of this stage though so dont worry

It shows they are all individuals - we stopped wrapping him and he has stopped wriggling as much!!!!
Thanks for all the suggestions.

Hi JoLou,

My little girl (5 and a half months) suffers from really bad gas, the poor little beggar wakes up constantly with a shriek when she 'fluffs' in her sleep! The only way to relieve the discomfort is to pump her legs, lay her on her belly or on her side... so... this triangle thing sounds great! I've never heard of it or seen it? Does it have a name and exactly where did you buy it? I'd do anything to help my little one get a decent stretch of sleep...

Taa,
Jessica
