Hello blondies

Just letting you know a great way to save going back to get your roots done. Buy Sunsilk Highlighting Foam in Blonde, and every time you wash your hair, put a heap on your fingertips and rub it into your scalp/roots/dark bits before blow drying. It very slowly bleaches the hair but in a very subtle way. People are always asking me how I get my natural beach blonde hair with no roots!!

The perfect crime :D

Onya Carls. Thanks. Nasty dark roots keep creeping back........ not a good look.

I thought this was going to be a blonde joke, so I'd better post one in case anyone else is expecting a joke too:

She Was So Blonde
- she spent 20 minutes looking at the orange juice box because it said "concentrate"

- she put lipstick on her forehead because omeone told her to make up her mind.

- she got stabbed in a shoot-out

- she tried to put M&M's in alphabetical order

- she sent me a fax with a stamp on it

- she tried to drown a fish

- she thought a quarterback was a refund

- she got locked in a grocery store and starved to death

- they had to burn the school down to get her out of third grade

- she tripped over a cordless phone

- she took a ruler to bed to see how long she slept

- at the bottom of the application where it says "sign here".. she put "Sagittarius"

- she asked for a price check at the Dollar Store

- it takes her two hours to watch 60 Minutes

- she studied for a blood test - and failed

- she thought Boyz II Men was a daycare center

- when she saw the "NC-17" (under 17 not admitted), she went home and got 16 friends

- when she heard that 90% of all crimes occur around the home, she moved

- she thinks Taco Bell is where you pay your phone bill

- when she missed the 44 bus, she took the 22 bus twice instead

- when she went to the airport and saw a sign that said "Airport Left" she turned around and went home

How about... she told her boyfriend to meet her on the corner of 'walk' and 'don't walk'. Hahahahaha

So Carls.. I'm guessing no good when you're pregnant?? All that bleach leaking into your bloodstream?? Or is it ok?

I did a couple of hair colours through my pregnancy, but only because I had the dark streak of doom, and it was stressing me out big time.

I don't think the chemicals are all that good for bub, but neither is stressing about the way your hair looks.

I'd say keep colour to a minimum during pregnancy, especially bleach.

Another tip that only us blondes can use. If your hair is in need of a wash but you just don't have time and need one more day out of it, then you can sprinkle a bit of talcum powder on your scalp and mess it into your hair. It will absorb the excess oil and because we're blonde it won't show up (just don't use huge amounts!!!). I used to be a hairdresser and we are notorious for leaving too many days between washings :p

Its very gentle and isnt a powerful bleach so I'm thinking the amount of chemicals going into my body is negligible. To be quite honest I havent really been dwelling too much on that kind of thing - I'm sure I'm inhaling worse by walking down a busy road every day!

The blonde jokes were pretty good. I have to say though that one of them struck a chord. I once went into the $2 shop to buy a secret santa present for someone at work (we had a rule of the tackier the better).

Anyway, I chose a suitably tacky item, took it to the counter and the shop assistant didn't name a price she just put her hand out. I very politely said "sorry, how much is it?". You should have seen the look on her face. It was the $2 shop.

That was one of my proudest blonde moments.

Thanks for the tips, I'm a natural blonde, so the dark roots don't worry me, but the talcum powder sounds like it might come in handy on camping holidays!

As a hairdresser, I would be a little concerned to do that to my hair everyday or even weekly as it is still a type of bleach (as it is lightning the hair) & i would imagine that it would end up being quite damaging on the hair!!

Sorry to be a party pooper, but hair used to be my life!!! :o

hey Becky - you're not a party pooper, I was actually reading that and thinking back to my younger days when I used to use the spray on stuff, which is the same deal, lightens your hair over time, especially with sun exposure - I ended up looking horrific. It worked really well for a couple of weeks, even a month or so, but once a decent amount of regrowth came through you could see there was no colour matching, so I had all these bands of different shades of blonde in my hair. VERY attractive!!!

I also used the coloured mousse once...... ONCE. Being that I was a natural blonde (getting darker as getting older  ) my hair just said "oh yay, look, pigmentation, let's hold onto that!!!" so after putting the copper mousse in my hair for a night out I ended up with champagne pink hair for good!!! Then I had to start having it streaked to get rid of the pink.

Belinda, They used to use Goldwell when I worked there, but now it's Loreal... i think i like it!

Carls, How long have you been using it? I would imagine it will have long term effects rather than short term ones... that's just what I think. If you like it use it, I just don't think i'd be quite game enough that's all. I'm very fussy with what i put on my hair!! :)

About a year. I dont put it on all of my hair, just my roots. My hair is very temperamental with colour, and I have found this to be the most effective way of getting a natural beachy blonde colour without going to get foils all the time. :)
