Okay, the postman needs a reminder on how to deliver parcels to my house, Paypal and the credit card are feeling neglected, that means it must be time for a new nappy. I am on the wait list for a couple of BumGeniuses so for some instant cyber shopping gratification how about the new Pea Pods? Any Good? or should I save my money.

Hmm.. most ppl rave about them.. the noobs (sorry guys no offence honestly :) ) but to be honest i don't see what the big deal is. They are cheap and very cheaply made (materials aren't the best) but i guess you get what you pay for in the end. I have 3, actually 2 now.. i just gave 1 to a friend to try before she wastes her money.

Deffinatly at the very bottom of the stash and i always make sure it never gets that far. Sorry Sop bad review from me.

Thats odd zarasmum . .my peapod has elastic on both sides of the pockets . . . .maybe yours was an older style one or something?

But anyways . .the peapod isnt my favourite. . not sure if I am doing something wrong or its the inserts but it always seems to not last as long on my little miss. I still use it but its one of the home lot so when we are out I dont get a wet pram or side when I am carrying her.

Thery are the first MCN I tried and I did and still do love them. Never had a single problem.
But I am branching out to other MCN's for better designs, better materials, and to try other styles (fitted bamboo).
I think they are a good intro to modern cloth, so if you are already into MCN I wouldnt bother unless you are specifically looking for cheap pockets just to do the job :)

I've got some of the older style ones so cant comment on the new ones but I am not enjoying thme. They just don't fit right, the insert they come with is no where near absorbant enough and the insides are absolutely COVERED in pil that for the life of me I cannot remove.

I have the new ones and use a booster with the prefold so I don't mind them but they aren't as reliable as other mcn's i have..... agreed that they are a good economy option for starters!

I find them great for daytime use when stuffed with the prefold and microfibre.

well as I have not used them on a newborn, I cant say anything, but for older kids they are great. the snaps mean DD cant get out of them, they are fine absorbancy no leaks for me so far, I have no issues whatsoever.
I do love GKs though and will definately use them from birth if I have another bub, they are fantastic and very well made. but for something thats only really a poop catcher for my almost TT DD i really like peapods:yes: (and overnight they are good too but maybe DD wees less cos of her age:p)

cel do you have the new type? What build is your daughter? The old type just doesnt fit my nearly 18 month old right... I cant have it loose enough around the legs and tight enough around the waist, same problem with my extra chubby 5 month old except the waist is too big even on the smallest setting.
Just wondering how good the new design actually is for sizing and fit of for very chubby bubbys! :)

Cel and mummycharmzy - I have used them on my bub from a newborn (now 6 months) AND on my 2.5year old for the past 6 months for nighttime.
Work well for both my DD's

But as I said before I am branching out, but thru no fault of the peapods, I jsut want some funkier designs and to try some different fabrics such as bamboo etc...

I have two, used by my 9kg 7 month-old.

I've always used the booster with the insert. They last about 2-3 hours on (about the longest I leave a nappy on her for anyway) and rarely leak. Although, saying that, I've had no leaks at all with other nappies.

IMO they're a good economy option for just dealing with the job, fashion and quality of materials aside (cheaply made). I find they just look so soft, trim, flexible and comfy on her, no cutting into her chubby back-fat at the top like our GK's seem to.

I have trendier patterend pul pockets for going out, fitteds for night and AIO's as well, but I'll happily continue using peapods regularily at home

I think they are OK. I doubt they would last out a whole child from birth to toddler if you don't have a big stash though as the PUL isn't the greatest never mind using them on a second baby.

They were a great way to fill out my stash until I made more myself. Very cheap especially at $12 a nappy (for the old style) but I have to stuff them with microfibre and the hemp insert that comes with them.

Considering GKs are $23 plus $10 for the insert I don't think you can complain about quality when you are paying $18 or less for the nappy, insert and wet bag. They work really well on my chubby two year old, a bit loose on my little 7 month old, but they will fit him for months to come

Be warned though my inserts have shrunk A LOT and that seems to be a common problem

I guess as long as you realise that the aren't of the same quality as say, Green Kids, then you will be happy but if you think you are gettign the same product but cheaper you may be disappointed.

my inserts have not shrunk at all

Value for money in my opinion. If you want the best then pay more but if you just want a nappy that does the job, you just want to give mcn a go, etc then its an ideal nappy. I am not fond of pockets - I am just too lazy to put the inserts in them. But hubby used the PPs - now he is converted I no longer have pockets in our stash.

  I have one of the new styles and have found it ok during the day. Although the back pocket on the (new style) one I have only has elastic on one edge of the pocket which is a bit annoying. I tried to use it as a night nappy last week, with the microfibre insert and it, her romper and the towel underneath her were wet after 5 hours and DD isn't really a heavy wetter. So we use it for a day nappy now. But it works fine for day time!

Although I probably won't invest in anymore because I am SO in love with my BB bamboos :D
