The HPT's I've got say I can test 5 to 7 days from conception.

Is conception from the time the egg is fertilised or from the time it implants?

Sorry for the stupid question, just humming and haaing on whether it's worthwile doing a test yet.

good question! iv always taken it from implantation, cos at 5 days past fertilisation it wouldnt even have implanted yet so therefore no hcg.... just my thoughts

Conception is the same as fertilisation - but i agree with QTB, at 5-7 days past conception there wouldnt be HcG yet - i think its just a cunning ploy by the HPT companies to trick us into buying and using more tests!!
I usually test at about 11 or 12 DPO - which would be about the same as 11 or 12 days after conception. Lots of people test earlier than that, just depends whether u can bear to see BFNs or not i spose!!

Good luck for when u do decide to test!! :fingerscrossed:

I take it as when egg met sperm! But as the others have said it's when it implants that hcg levels really start to rise.

Those early one's have not picked up positives for me, usually dont get one till AF due

with thoes tests its counted from implantation, as there is no hcg produced before then, at it approxamitly takes at least 5-7 days before the level is high enough for a hpt to detect it,

so in theory you would not want to test any more than 3 days before af would be due

hope that helps ya

Thanks ladies...

I have what looks like implantation bleeding at the moment and didn't want to waste the tests!

I agree Mel cunning plan by the HPT makers! At least I know not to bother testing for another 5 to 7 days :banghead:
