What to buy a 40 y/o bloke?

Its our friends 40th on the weekend. I dunno what to buy him? Any suggestions? The only thing I can think of is beer :o

i always make gift baskets lately. you can do something like a basket with a 6 pack of his fav beer, some beer nuts, make a copy of a cd on your computer with all his favourite songs on it, and ofcourse something that screams old man, like some old grandpa slippers for a joke.
thats what i would so, not too expensive, but it took you time and effort, and ppl will always appreciate that.
