My baby is 15 weeks old now and I only b/f for 1 week but I am yet to get my period(I have always been regular in the past). This is my 4th son and I am sure I had always had it by now but no sign of it anywhere.I don't feel like I am pregnant as I usually have known instinctivly pretty early on and we have used condoms everytime and my partner got a vasectomy 2 weeks ago cos we think 4 is enough for us however I am starting to get worried!(I'm too scared to do a pregnancy test just in case)So how long has it taken other mum to get their cycles back.

When I asked this question the answers ranged from "straight away" to "still waiting". :)

Like most things to do with pregnancy/motherhood, there isn't really a set answer.

I got mine back when Miss J was about ten months.. but not regularly and it's still (she's 15 months now) is not regular.

For me AF arrived 9 weeks after I had DS and lasted for close to 3 weeks. I think my system was trying to clean itself out, mostly spotting. I have always been very regulary before pregnancy so I am hoping I'll get back to being regular.

Despite the fact that I was breastfeeding my period came back after 4 months (I expected it not to come back for a bit longer than that), and has made a regular and predictable appearance at the end of the month ever since. I actually asked this question here not long after my son was born and it varied so hugely from person to person.

I B/F all my DS's until they were 10 months with no sign of AF until I gave up B/F, I am currently still B/F my 7 month old DD & have had no sign of AF so I presume I wont get it until after I wean.

I FF my bub from day one and it still took 4 1/2 months for mine to come back..

We combined BF & FF from about 1-4 weeks & then DD was predominantly FF until just shy of 3 months, when she became fully FF.

I had post-partum bleeding until about 6 weeks after the birth & good ol' AF popped in 2 weeks after that!

However, as lots have said, there is no real "normal". Even an average could be misleading considering the huge variations possible between women.

My son is 7 1/2 months old and the witch only made her appearance yesterday (lucky me I get an early christmas present, this one I could have done without LOL). Anyways I'm still BFing my son about 5 -6 times a day, so I think it really is up to your body.
