Hooray for happy babies! :yelclap: Isabella seems to be over (touch wood) what ever it was that has had her so unsettled for the last few days, I think it must have been due to the needles...
We had our first 'Mummy & Me' baby yoga class today. I felt like a fish out water, not knowing all the sing-alongs, but wetried our best. Scary how much flexibility is lost during pregnancy, and I'm sure I'll feel it tomorrow.
On a brighter note, I jumped on the scales today - yes I know, sooo brave, and I just have to shout it to the world - I'M BACK TO PRE-PREG!:smiliedance: I put on 25kg and was so scared it wasn't going to come off - go the breast feeding!!!!
Kimba - Isabella had reflux really badly for the first few weeks but after a few Osteopath treatments she is no longer on Losec. Perhaps it's worth a try. Also, apparently drinking chamomile tea helps bub through the breast milk. Worked for us????
M,T & J's mum - I'm keento get the DVD for the baby talk too, so if you find out where to get it please let me know. I have written down the 5 starting words if you want them?
Have a great week all, DP takes the laptop away with him for work so I'll be off air for a few days.
Cheers, Kristin B

Hey everyone,
we have had a screamer here tonight!! One very unsettled bubby.....hope this is not a sign of the night to come, I am feeling really tired at the moment.
Kimba- I totally agree with the whole colic/reflux/hunger etc thing.
Nedd has not only a milk allergy, which means it may have been something I ate that sets him off, he has reflux (also silent), I found out today I haven't been feeding him enough (only been offering him one side and he hasn't put on much weight), plus the heat seems to bother him- how the hell do you figure it all out?!?!?
Anyway fingers crossed tomorrow will be a better day!
Sarah- just wondering why your ob didn't recommend implanon? My gp suggested it as I am hopeless with the pill (Nedd is testamony to that!) I am getting it inserted next week....
Anyway happy sleeps to all!
jeffy - how much water do you give and how often?

Kristin - the baby talk website is here - http://www.dunstanbaby.com/
I discovered that me eating bran flakes give Nicholas very very bad wind. Which of course i only found out after 2 days of having a screaming baby. Its the only thing i ate differently. I had something else for breakfast yesterday and today and now he's fine. I also had a couple of nights where he actually slept for 3.5 hours at a time! Miracles happen. Last night was a bad night though and today wasn't any better. He just doesn't sleep well. I can't for the life of me get him down much earlier then 10pm. *sigh* and he only has 1 or 2 sleeps a day. According to the sleep book i have he should be having 3 sleeps a day.
I spend all afternoon and evening trying to get him to sleep. Its really wearing on me. I'm getting crankier and crankier. argh i need a break!!!!
ANS - If I have been out, I give Sam about 30ml of water. Sitting in the hot car, he seems to need it (we have aircon but it still dehydrates you)
Thanks Jeffy. I gave JR about 20ml around 9pm last nite. She did a poo at 2.45am :smiliedance:
Brideofjabba - Thanks for the website....will go and check it out. I am very keen to get my hands on that DVD!
Sal - It's all a guessing game isn't it, this thing called Motherhood?? Hopefully now you know what the cause has been, things will get easier for you. :fingerscrossed: About the implanon - My Ob said that implanon often causes a lot of 'weird' bleeding. I just couldn't be bothered with that. Let me know how it goes for you though. My sister had one, and didn't have any probs (I don't think), so it may be different for everyone.
Isabella's mummy - Brideofjabba has posted the link for the website on the baby translater. Am yet to check it out, but I'm sure we can get info on the DVD there. Good on you getting back to pre-preg weight so soon. I didn't have a problem doing this with DS1 and DS2, but this time I was 25 kgs lighter, and it's taking a little longer. I am still about 8kgs over and still can't quite fit into my size 10 clothes, but have been getting back into my exercise regime over the past couple of weeks, and am eating properly again now, so hopefully I can shift it very soon. I don't have many clothes to wear until I do!!
Hope you all have a good day, and for some of you, a better day than yesterday!!
Well only a short post today as I have got myself in a mess!!! Put my Christmas tree up yesterday and now have decided my lounge needs a make over - so at the moment I am shampooing the carpets and then I will re-arrange the rooms. Used to do this before Jordan, and today well I guess I thought I would get it done in the same amount of time - WRONG!!! Jordan is awake and wanting to play.... I have stuff everywhere and walking around is not easy!! What an idiot am I.
I forget who asked about pooing on formula, Jordan is on Nan 1 gold and poos once a day. I do every second feed put infacol or sometimes Infants friend into the mix and this helps him poo.
Water - Jordan hasn't taken to the taste yet, but I keep trying. I usually end up wearing most of it.
He is so cute at the moment - trying to talk and laugh all at the same time. I love listening to him. At the moment he is cooing with his play rings in his portacot. He can see himself in the mirror and is laughing away! What a cutie (if I do say so myself!).
Well so much for a short post. Best be off as my carpet should be nearly dry and I can move some other stuff around so I can finish shampooing!
Have a great day
Lucy
Morning everyone
Well it appears that all is well in most camps so that is great news.
Everything here is good. Left Adam home with DD1 (15yrs) while I ran the other two to school. She has finished for the year. Wasn't sure how she'd go as she gets mad if Adam cries at her, but I came home and they were both lying on the mat in the lounge smiling and 'talking' to each other. Pity I didn't have the video camera when I walked in. But it was lovely to see. She gave him his bottle so I could get the ironing done (thanks alot....I could've fed him and she could've ironed  ) lol.
We are off to find some pants for me as I have just been informed that we have another Christmas party on Saturday night as well. I'm not so sure about 2 nights in a row. This one is a little more informal though.....Thank god. It's at a steak & seafood place so it should be nice. But we have the same dilema....nothing to wear. I've decided slacks and a top will do as I have a couple of tops that are respectable enough to wear out that hide the really flabby bits lol.
Anyway best be off before Adam decides to wake up and be 'starving' again.
Hope you all have a great day.
Thank you to Jordan's secret santa. We received the present today and have put it under the tree for Christmas morning....
Back to shampooing the carpets.....
Oh yeah - you know how I said Jordan does one poo every 24 hours, well today he has decided he would do three and it is not even lunch time! LOL!!!

Hi Everyone
Kristin B - Congrats on the pre pregnancy weight
Jacob is going really good. Think he is going through another growth spurt at the moment. I gave him a feed yesterday morning at 8.30 am and he slept until just after 1.00 pm. All day yesterday he just kept feeding then having a long sleep. I had so many calls to make yesterday about our house, with Jacob sleeping and Tahni at kindy, made life so much easier!
DP and I had an appointment at the solicitor yesterday to start finalising things with the house, he was as confused with the paperwork from the bank as we were  When we got home we had to ring the bank to go over a few things cos they just didnt make sense.... then our bank manager started telling us all these fee's we have to pay, including transfer fee's etc, that totalled $3,603.90. DP said that we didnt have to pay em cos we were first home buyers. After about half hour arguing with the guy he went and checked with his boss, came back and said we were excempt cos we were first home buyers :banghead: Talk about a whole lotta stress about nothin!
Got Tahni's kindy pic back through the week... can have a look if you like (hope i did it right!)

And just one more of Jacob

Well gotta go feed Jacob, sorry bout a ME post, will try and be back for personals.
Hope you are all doing great, which im sure you all are
Christy
All this talk about poo!! Kayley normally does one every feed except for the last 2 days where she seems to have stored it up into one huge poo which goes through all layers of nappy and clothes!! Yesterday was on the couch and today in the carseat - yay!!
I haven't tried to give bubs any water at this stage - do we need to? I thought the breast milk would be enough??
Bec - I was reading just yesterday about giving bubs water. It said that if bubs is breastfed, then giving water is not necessary as the breastmilk is sufficient in quenching both thirst and hunger. Hope this helps.
Hi guys,
Sam has slept most of today - he is a little off colour and I think it is just the shots from yesterday. I have made a massive pot of beef madras to freeze in portions for those really **** days where I have no time to cook (low fat version of course!)
I have just had an ice cold beer and finished wrapping our Christmas gifts. I told DH this morning that he is to go and buy me a present - and that I would like earrings and he has to wrap it up and put it under the tree. Seems to be the only way he'd get me anything! Can't blame him though because I am in charge of the money and things have been tighter than usual (I'm on half pay).
beck - Yeah; only formula babies need the water.
christy - Jacob is just adorable! BTW - I still don't know where most of our money went when we bought our house!
di - I know what you mean - my pants fit but I have the muffin top thing happening and I feel gross. Sticking to the looser fitting tops for now!
lucy - I can't even be bothered vacuuming. Wanna come over and do it for me?!
Well - Sammo is still asleep. Have to go and hang 'lamby' up to dry as it was covered in baby vomit AGAIN :)
Hi all :D I havent been around much with packing and now I have a nasty tummy bug..
Beck- Its up to you whether you gives bubs water. As long as it isnt substituted for milk. But on them hot days I am sure a small amount of cook boiled water wouldnt hurt..
Christy- Your kids are absolutly gorgeous  You have gotta love banks too dont you...lol
Lucy- Your a mad women, shampooing carpets and rearranging rooms...lol. I need your energy..
Di- Thats great your daughter helped you out abit. I agree on her doing to the ironing do you could feed bubs but hey, beggers cant be choosers..lol.
My dd1 likes to help too but she is only 5.
Ok so I have officially forgotten who I am secret santa too :o so will have to go searching for my piece of paper with names on it..lol. I am a silly duffer..
Is anyone thinking of ttc in the new year? Am I the only mad one?
James slept from 8pm til 4 am this morning so he seems to be stretching out his early morning feed which is great. Because I was so sick I didnt get to take advanatge of his sleep but maybe tonight??!!
Ok so only 1 week til I move. I am very excited..
Better run. I hope you are all well..
LOTSA LOVE TO RILEY.............................

Rian your brave. I don't plan to ttc #3 until Nicholas is about 2. I need at least a full year of sleep and feeling normal first. lol
Nothing much to report from my end. I'm glad everyone seems to be doing well.:)
Rian, you are not the only mad one - I guess I am mad for more than one reason!!!! DH and I want to have another as soon as possible. By OB said to wait 9 months, but I have heard 4-6 is okay so will wait until I am bridesmaid in March and then try for another.
Well I had better go for my tea - Cajun Fish Fillets and veges - gotta love CSIRO....
Lucy
Hi everyone!
Well cutting down the formula has been successful this week, apart from a bit of crankiness, we're averaging about 120ml per day, and Jet still gained 150g on almost all breastmilk! so I feel very proud of myself.
Jet is being soooo good today, happy and sleeping so well whenever I put him down, I wish he was like this all the time! When I see how content and settled he can be, I feel so bad when he's crying and miserable and I can't settle him...And we have a new record, he slept SEVEN HOURS last night (8.30 till 3.30) it was wonderful...I shouldn't brag though, I bet I'm we're for a shocker tomorrow LOL.
Speaking of tomorrow - Pam and Lucy - I forgot I have another osteopath appointment for Jet in the afternoon! (trying to sort his reflux out, this is his 3rd osteo appt now). I hope I can reschedule it because I don't want to rush out to Homebush for an hour or so then rush back to the osteo!
Re: TTC...hmm the jury is out on that one! I'm not getting any younger so I used to think I'd like to have bub #2 within a year or so after the first - but now I dont' think I could handle 2 under 2! so we might wait a bit longer...
Jen LOL at your instructions to your DH re Xmas present. Mine gave me $50 and told me to buy myself something! charming. So I'm buying earrings too I think. Can't get much for $50 these days!

Hi, i'm back and exhausted after a nightmare day almost missing planes, late taxis etc but Sophia was great the whole time - even with the politicians wanting to kiss her! She was great on the plane as well.
Kimba - bravo on the bitty!! You have done so well and i'm glad Jet is having a good day. It's funny when you see how great they can be I wish they could be like that all the time.
:eek: on you girls ttc you are brave women. I really enjoyed being pg but I can't imagine having another baby yet.
:wizard: to you girls feeling sick and to any unsettled babies tonight.
Hope you're all well.
Georgia

Lesley and kids :reindeer: :xmas:
ttc NO WAY. big snip snip chop chop here. apparently if we go thru planned parenthood it costs bout 250 bucks compared to 700.
rian youre a brave women going for number 4!!!
jeffy: id try stress less bout youre weight if you can. we have enough on our plates. i cant speak for everyman but my dp (as much as i bag him) is a bit of a hottie always been popular with the ladies and i met him bout 40 kilos lighter than i am now and he hasnt once treated me any different or said anything mean about it. im harder on myself than he ever would be. the other day he and his mates were weighing them selves infront of me. hell no i was getting on the scales lol. anyway his mate got on who is heavier than dp (and me) and dp was bagging him out saying your a fat boof etc. i said well wat am i than and his mates started going yeah how you going to get out of this one and he goes yeah but shes so much more beautiful than all you ugly fellas AWWWWWW:thumbsup:
christy your kids are cuties.
re water if you go by the middies you dont need to give ff bubbas water anymore but i do. helps with colic, overfeeding and heah id like water now and than. but make sure its out of a newborn teat as they tend to choke otherwise
Hi all,
The Wiggles were great today. Eloise loved them even though she was a bit overwhelmed that she was actually seeing them and Lara slept through the whole thing (she woke up as we were leaving Rod Laver Arena!!!). We'll definitely go and see thema gain next year.
Christy - Your kids are gorgeous. They are great photos. How long until you take possession of your house?
Sue - That was sweet of your DP. I'm making DH go for the snip after we have #3. There's no way I am going back on the pill, I did that for about 4 years before we got married and then the 1st few years of our marriage.
Lesley - That's no good about your car. They say when it rains it pours, certainly sounds that way for you.
Georgia - Glad to hear Sophia was good for you on the plane.
Kimba - Jet sounds like he is absolutely thriving - well done to you :smiliedance:
Jen - I hope Sam is feeling better soon.
Better go and serve dinner. DH is getting Eloise ready for bed and she is driving us insane at the moment :banghead: Anyone want to borrow a lively 2 year old for a while? :D
I hope every one is well.
Hi all
Thanks for the advice about the water.
I remember looking back on the posts someone saying the couldn't have cereal (sorry for forgetting who) - I am the same - I cant have milk, soymilk, ice cream, chocolate and onions at the moment as it gives bubs major colic. Since I have avoided these she has been much better. Cant wait until 3 months!!!
Well it is 2 weeks until my next appointment and getting itchy feet as to how heavy Kayley is (is bf still working) so i jumped on my scales with and without her. She was fully dressed and just fed and I dont think scales are too accurate but was 5.2 kgs heavier with her there so she mush have put on some weight from 4.1kg (albeit naked and accurate) weight 2 weeks ago - yay!
Well Im off to get some breaky.
hey its good to hear all the bubbas are doing well
I wanted to ask all the mums with reflux/colic babies what do you use i have montanah on thickend feed but sometimes that is just not enough she needs a little extra and our docs appointment is not untill saturday and she is refusing feed again so should i tke her early or try something different now untill then
HELP
lesley :banghead:
hi all,
Spewing I won't make it to homebush today to meet the other sydney mums, AGAIN  DH had to do overtime today and I won't get the car till later...sometimes it's so annoying being a one car family! I hope you have a great time though Pam, Lucy and anyone else who went.
lesley - sorry about your car! if Montana is refusing feeds I'd probably try to get to the doctors sooner. Have you been to this site: www.reflux.org.au - they have a lot of great suggestions for managing refluxers. I haven't had Jet officially diagnosed with reflux yet - at the 6 week check GP said it was probably 'just colic', but I want a second opinion, which I'll get next Tues. So far I've tried osteopath treatments and all the suggestions on that site, such as keeping bub upright as much as possible, using a baby swing, no tight clothes around his waist etc. I do use Brauers Colic Relief though when he's having a 'colicy moment' (IE screaming and we can't work out why) and it does seem to relieve him...maybe you could try that?
beck - sounds like Kayley is thriving! :yelclap: I'm trying the no caffeine/ no fizzy drinks/ no dairy/ no chocolate thing too, to see if if has any effect on jet. Can't do me any harm either! Although I'm craving pepsi max now LOL
sare - glad the wiggles were good! Thanks for the 'well done'. I'll swap you a grizzly, colicy/ refluxy 8 week old for a lively 2 year old for a while, what do you reckon? LOL
sue - that's lovely about your DP. My DH doesn't comment on my weight either and I've been up and down within a 30kg range since meeting him (was 15kg overweight when we met, put on about 15kg more, then lost 30kg, then gained it back again  ). He does like it when I lose weight, but then he gets all insecure I might find someone else LOL! so I think he feels more secure when I'm fat...although now we have a bub I think it's a bit different.
mummyG - sounds like you had a fun trip, glad sophia behaved herself for you. I agree when they have a good day you see how great they can be you just wish they were like that all the time! I guess the older they get, the better they get, but I don't want to wish away this time when they're still so little and cute...
lucy - how was dinner last night, hows CSIRO going for you? I'm tossing up between trying that and going back to WW...WW is great but I dont' know if I have the mental fortitude to count points right now it's all I can do to remember what day it is! LOL
rian - hope your tummy is feeling better today!
I got an update from Kristin re: Ryley which I'll post here in full shortly - she said he is still in hospital, they're waiting for him to put on some more weight before they do his major operation. Apparently he was smiling and laughing at her yesterday and is so cute she could eat him, she's really hoping they will be able to bring him home for Christmas Day, even just for the day, so please send Ryley lots of 'put on weight' vibes so he can spend Christmas at home...:tree:
Here's the latest update from Kristin:
"Ryley has been in hospital for 3 and a half weeks now (for his third hospital visit). Last week was a disaster - he had 2 more operations, including one to put a central line in so he can be fed directly into his veins. His bowel problem prevents him from absorbing food properly so he has not gained any weight. And they won't do his major bowel operation until he has fattened up. He lost a lot of weight last week and was just skin and bone - he looked dreadful. It didn't look like he'd survive the night. They also suspected that he had this disease in his small bowel as well. Fortunately the biopsy shows that his small bowel is ok.
This week has been much better - he is finally putting on some weight (he has just hit 3 kgs, which I know is still small but it is a major milestone for him) and today he was laughing at me and I got heaps of smiles - it was a great day!
With everything he has been through, he is such a good little boy - he is amazing. And so very cute - I could eat him! We are trying to get him home for christmas - or at least just for christmas day, though the doctors are saying it could be months before he comes home (they don't know whether he can come home before his major surgery or not, it all depends on how quickly he puts on weight). I will be devastated if I don't have him home for xmas (though I probably should try and resign myself to it, just in case)."
Sending Kristen, Ryley and family lots of love :hugs: and get better vibes...:wizard:

Harry had jabs and was fine til couple of hours later then was grizzly for rest of day so that was fun, he did sleep from 8pm to 5.30am to compensate though:smiliedance:
Jen - the steamer is fab, would have got one sooner had I known, you just chuck everything in and off you go, did chicken, vegs & rice first night and was lovely so tried fish too and now experimenting with all sorts!! like the fact that I can put the timer on and know dinner is sorted whilst I bath the boys, am one happy bunny, should help me shift those extra kilos now :)
Rian - just pm'd you with details as requested on your santa thread yesterday
re water, I take bottle if we are going out to give in between feeds and he has some every afternoon around 4, also find it helps his poos too, no constipation here and goes about 3 times a day now
Di - know what you mean about clothes, we have a wedding on 30th and really want to get back into my clothes as got some decent stuff to wear but the flabby bits are letting me down!!! esp my tummy.....
Christy - lovely pics, like Tahni's hair
Bec - breastmilk is enough without water as it does have good water content but no harm in giving more esp when its hot, I am mix feeding bottle & breast thats am giving Harry some just to make sure his bowels move ok, no problem there, luckily its not leaking over my pants anymore......
Sue - am with you....no ttc here, thats our lot, only wanted 2, wonder who will be first out of you ladies who are ready to roll again..........:D
Lesley - sorry can't help but maybe contact doc early or child health nurse as they should have ideas of what you can do, one of the mum's at school gave hers baby rice early as he had shocking reflux and she said it worked.......don't go by that though best speaking to doc etc
SENDING HUGE VIBES FOR RYLEY SO HE CAN BE HOME FOR XMAS
thanks kimba for keeping us updated and just had a peak at your pics, they are fab, love his superbaby top and santa outfit that is so cute.
Off to get harry weighed at chemist then to do some xmas shopping for ds1 before they break up from school tomorrow for summer hols

Hi Everyone..
Awwww Thanks.. I think my kiddies are gorgeous too :p
Jen - How is Sammy feeling today?
Rian - TTC... hmmmm NO WAY! I'm suprised I have any hair left with these three... they may look like little angels in the photo's but trust me.... they are not! Insert*devil* emoticon
Kimba - Congrats on cutting down the formula! You are doing a fantastic job. Hope all continues to go well for you. Sorry to hear that you will miss out on the Sydney meet again. We only had the one car too before DP got a motorbike and it is very hard at times.
Georgia - Sounds like you had an exhausting day yesterday! Glad Sophia was good on the plane for you.
Lesley - Sorry to hear about how much your car is costing! Trust it to happen right before christmas hey... *big hugs*...dont stress though... everything will work out.
Sue - Awww your hubby sounds like a sweety!
Sare - Glad Elouise had a great time at the wiggles! Would have been good for you to spend some one on one time with Elouise, seen as though Lara was sleeping...what an angel!
Bec - Should be interesting to see how much Kayley weighs! She's doing fantastic if your scales are right.
Kristin & Family - Wishing you all the best for Ryley! I hope he puts on enough weight so he can spend his first christmas at home with mummy and daddy!! Isnt it amazing how children still smile and laugh with all they go through.... Ryley, you are a true champ  Get well soon little man!
Update on my house... Bank guy was looking over our application yesterday and realised he put down an extra $2,600 for our pay that shouldnt be there.. SO, he had to resend the application back to Sydney for processing to which it came back declined today  Only cos we fall under a different bracket now which means we cant get as much as originally told! DP has his review for a pay rise today so we hoping that it is around $2,600+ per year so we can submit another application through the bank before the day finishes. Man, i am so stressed about all this... its one thing after the other. If DP pay rise isnt as much as hoped... then it just wasnt meant to be.
Well off to feed Jacob and to see if DP has had a chance to sit down with his boss yet.
Hi to Everyone and Bubs...
Talk to you soon

Teresa - Wow Harry had a good sleep after his needles... must have worn himself out from being grizzly all day
I just put all little plait's (sp?) in Tahni's hair the night before and just took em out in the morning, which made it "flufty"
Arghhh... school holidays already... i really should hurry up and get my christmas shopping out of the way. Got the girls a swing set from the target sale.... lucky i got down there early... they only have 5 in stock and dont think they are getting more... now just to work out what else to get em.
Lesley - Forgot to tell ya that if you cant get in at the doc's soon to go to the chemist first. They usually are really helpful and might be able to recommend something for you to try... good luck.
Hello everyone!
Sam is still very sleepy today. He had a little bit of a fever last night so had some more panadol (which tastes like cr ap!). He was a little grumbly but is still a pretty happy kid. Today he is better but still a little sleepy. I am pretty sure it was the pneumococcal vaccine, as I did some research and sleepiness is one of the side effects. Better than screaming!
Well; DH is taking tomorrow off to give me some time out (bless him). My talk actually worked for the first time ever. I cried, that must have done it. I am usually a very strong person, so reading out my issues and crying must have scared the cr ap out of him:laughing: I have planted a couple of tress and am absolutely ravenous today. I am at goal weight now and am enjoying my dieting break. I just finished off 200g of cheese & bacon balls! I am waiting until I go back to work to get some serious exercise in (free gym)
christy - How is it going with the bank?
Re: RYLEY - I almost cried reading your post, Kimba. I so hope he starts to improve and that the surgery fixes it all up. Poor little tyke. Makes me think how lucky we are to have healthy bubs.
Teresa - I figured out last night that my rice cooker does steaming; giving it a go tonight!
lesley - Sammy has diagnosed reflux and he has Mylanta (0.5ml) but I think you should see your doc first. If he won't eat, it is usually wind with Sam. Let us know how it goes.
kimba - We have to share our car as well but at least DH has the work car 1 week in 3! Think of the money you are saving!
Sam is awake, so better run!
this is a quicky as gotto pick jake up from school
just wanna say biggest hugs to ryley and family
and lesley kane has had some days where he does not want to eat than makes up for it that night or the next day iykwim. i find his colic is worse if he overeats. id see doc about any worries as the little cherubs cant tell us their troubles and even if we look like the over worried mum so be it.
Hello
Just went down to Target to do some xmas shopping and Kayley threw up her entire feed while we were there, Got home and she was hungry which is not a surprise, We played for a while then she got grizzly so she is asleep in my arms at the moment, Poor thing! She has been blowing bubbles a bit and this is her second big throw up - could this be reflux??
I hope Ryley does amazingly well in hospital.
As for weight, I am still 4kgs above pre preg weight- it seems to have stalled there!! Not so much worried about the actual weight itself but is all on my tummy which means nothing fits except for stretchy clothes - I am a trackies girl. Was going to look for a few in between pieces at Target before Kayley got sick so another day we will have a go. If I get some jeans, shorts and cropped pants it should keep me going for a little while. I might have to check out eBay! What did people do bf the internet???
Hi all,
Not a good day here...Eloise is driving me insane. I am so grumpy and short with her because I'm so tired, but she seems to be doing anything at the moment for attention, unfortunately most of it is stuff she shouldn't be doing. I try to give her lots of attention and be positive, but it is hard at the moment. I even got on the phone and had a cry to DH. It was 1 o'clock...I'd sent Eloise to bed because she was so naughty while we were out, Lara was screaming for a feed (but wouldn't feed properly) and I was starving as I hadn't had breakfast or lunch. To top it off, I had housework to do. When does it get easier?
Jen - Yay for your DH. It does sound like your talk worked. Enjoy your break.
Christy - Good luck with the loan. :fingerscrossed: it works out in your favour.
Kimba - I'd take that swap at the moment :D Lara's a dream to deal with at the moment compared to Eloise (even when she is having her squawking moments).
Beck - I hope Kayley is ok. Good luck with the clothes shopping. I went to Target yesterday to get some 'in between' clothes. Unfortunately, I think it's going to be a while before I get back into my pre-preg clothes. :gloomy:
Teresa - I hope Harry's doing ok today. Those needles can really upset the bubs, but when you look at what diseases and side-effects that they protect the kids from, I believe it's worth it.
Lesley - I agree with Christy, try the pharmacist. I have sometimes found them more helpful than drs I have visited.
Well better go...more housework calls.
Well after a 24 hour stint of no 'real' sleep only cat naps Adam has reversed today and has done nothing but sleep. He was full on lovely yesterday but obviously too much was happening in the world for him to sleep longer than 1/2 hour at a time. He wasn't grumpy though..just awake. He was like it all night too but I just left him in bed with us and fed him when he woke or started "bobbing for apples (well nipples actually :D ). Then he has slept from 7.30am - 11 had a feed and woke up about 10 minutes ago intime for DH to walk in the door (maybe he was just sick of my face after yesterday:laughing: ). He is now gurgling and smiling away at his dad so I thought I would come and post now. Off to get hair done at 6. They wouldn't cut it when I got it coloured a week and a half ago but I said it had to be done today as we have Xmas partied next 2 nights and I want it looking nice.
I am sending all of my spare fat vibes over to Ryley and hope he catches them. It would be so nice if he can go home for Christmas day.
Hope everyone with off little ones and little ones recovering from needles have had a restful day. :hugs: to you all.
Have a great evening all
sare : speaking as a mum of a 5 yr old (i mean everykid is different) but i found the terrible 3s worse than 2s and than at 4 they develop an attitude and by 5 they have perfected the attitude so im still waiting for it to get better lol. i think wen the kids can play with each other it will help :fingerscrossed:
beck: there is a addition you can do to work out how much your bub should eat in 24 hours based on weight etc. if tey eat too much they can vomit just because they ate too much (kane the pig does it all the time a whole bottle can come back up and while it looks scarey hes ok)
reflux is wen its more consistent ...i think but keep an eye on it
di im still waiting for my text :shame:
Hello everyone,
Well the meet today was good but hot... Kept having to move from the sun. Not many trees there. Olivia (Ikis's bub) and Jordan gave heaps of beautiful smiles while we were there. It is amazing how much they are growing and so quickly!
Kimba, we missed you but will hopefully meet up one day. Kimba, I would like to send something to Kirsten for Ryley just to let know we are thinking of her. I feel so much for her and can't imagine what she is going through. :fingerscrossed: and prayers going to her that Ryley is home for Chirstmas.
Anyway I am off, got to start to cook the CSIRO menu for tonight - a little bit naughty at lunch so have to be good tonight. Forget who asked, but the main problem with CSIRO is the dinner menu is always time consuming to prepare. They are beautiful meals, but I am finding them hard to cook with Jordan than I did when I was working. Last time by the end of 12 weeks I had lost 15 kilos without much exercse. This time I want to loose more but it is going to be harder with Christmas and all.
Will chat later!
Lucy
Lucy I also want to send something to Ryley so I've asked Kristin to let me know an address we can post to (hope she doesn't think we're a bunch of stalkers!). If anyone else would like to send something to Ryley, PM me, and once we have an address sorted I'll let you know.

Poor Kirstin and little Ryley. :( Sending huge hugs and get better vibes his way. :hugs: :wizard:
Sare - Here's a hug for you hunny - :hugs: . I feel your pain! I have a lot of days like that when Brianna is being demanding and Lachlan is unsettled. On days like that I find myself just looking at the clock waiting for Mark to come home from work. Seems like forever! PM me anytime if you need to vent out!
Big hi to everyone else! Sending you all good sleep vibes for tonight!

Hi everyone,
so sorry but you guys have been way too chatty for me to keep up with the personals!!
But I am thinking of Ryley......poor little battler.
Same old same old here- sooky bub one min, not so bad the next.
Had mothers group again yesterday, and all the other bubs seem to be angels....no grizzly, unsettled bubs. Don't want to jinx any of you lovely ladies but I appreciate being able to come here and hear that all is not perfect for other mums, cause otherwise I'd get a complex comparing Nedd to the other group babies!!!
My mum and dad shifted to ballarat yesterday- they have been building a house for ages and previuosly lived an hour away- I am looking forward to having mum so close by, when we build next year we will literally be 400m away- will be great when Nedd is old enough to hop on his bike to visit nanna and pa! So been busy helping with the move, bit tired tonight!
ANyway hope all is well, again sorry no personals,
Take care
Sal, just think the other mums will probably be up all night with a screaming grizzly baby. Jordan is a good bub (I know I am blessed and lucky) but even he sometimes get uncontrollably upset over "something" and it takes him ages to settle. They might seem perfect but they would have hidden demons inside!!
Briannabear - love the avatar. How gorgeous!!
Well I am off to bed now - dentist tomorrow for a screaming tooth ache - had a problem last year and I think they are going to take the tooth out! Just a hint for you all - have your bubs drink tap water when they are old enough - my teeth are rottng form the inside as I have drunk bottled water for the past 15 years and have got no flouride!! Paying for it now.....
Sleep vibes to all.....
Lucy
Morning to all,
Things are good in this house. Adam went to bed at 9.30 and had a 10min feed at 12.30 then another 10 minutes at 4.30 and is sleeping like a log.
To those with a little one as well as bub. I know how hard it seems but its a bit like child birth : they get a little older and you really can't remember ALL of the bad times. I had 3 under 5 and while they were probably monsters I can only look back and think how well they used to get on. They do again now but the last 12 months has been like living with Aliens...gotta love hormones!!!! It will improve. I know I used to send mine to their room or put a video on. I also remember locking the middle one outside one day ( I was a nasty mother lol).
Hope you have a better day today :hugs: .
Well all Chrissy shopping is done. Kids have all bought pressies for each other now so I can sit back and relax....I wish lol.
I hope my little man is as well behaved tonight as he has been the last few days. I can see him screaming the Marriott down....of all the places. I actualy asked DH if babies are allowed at a place like that. Doesn't worry me with the group we are with but I hope there are no uppity people sitting near us - I've got enough hormones to tell them exactly what I think...
Have a good day all:yelclap:
Hullo
Jet's still sleeping well at night - from 9 to 2.30 last night, had a quick feed and slept till 6.30. Suits me perfectly since DH gets up for work at 2.30 and I'm awake anyway.
I actually really love the middle of the night feed, it's my favourite - I have heaps of milk and he feeds so beautifully, we're both sleepily snuggled together in the quiet, dark bedroom, it's just lovely. I don't mind waking for it at all!
I realised I'm now spending more of my time and energy getting Jet to settle and sleep in the day (from when I start settling him, it takes at least 30 minutes to get him to go under) than I am breastfeeding, which is such a big change from a few weeks ago! I suppose it makes sense since feeding is OK now, so my new task at hand is getting him to settle and have good daysleeps so he isn't overtired by the afternoons. It is working though because he's starting to get more settled in general, and the PM witching hours haven't been as bad since I've been working hard at making him sleep more during the day. Who knew??? LOL. I think I'm finally getting the hand of this mothering thing
Sal - don't feel bad, my little man is grizzly and unsettled compared to all the other bubs in my mother's group too - they average one bad day a week, we've been having about 3-4! but this week has been OK so far since I've been 'forcing' him to sleep, and hopefully it will just keep getting better as they get older. Maybe Jet and Nedd will get it out of their systems now and be dream toddlers, how good would that be? :p
Oops sounds like my little prince is waking up for his lunch, will be back later for more personals!
PS haven't got an address for Kristin & Ryley yet but I will let those who have PM'd me know if/ when I do get one...
PPS if anyone is using cloth nappies and loves Baby Beehinds, Davina has listed a bunch of her BBh bamboo fitteds on eBay for $24.25 each with free postage...a little bit of a saving!
KIMBA!!!!!
what are you doing in here then eh??? I thought you were a September mummy!!!
YOu sound the same as me with the night feed. For awhile he would sleep from 7pm till 4am:eek:
Just about fell out of bed the time he slept for 9hours.
Well I had James by "emergency" c/s like you did with Jet however I feel it might have been more a convenience than emergency
I hope you are healing up well!!! My 'seam' (i call it a seam LOL and once the belly hangs more in old age I'll call it a 'pleat') anyway my seam popped open a bit but nothing too serious .....
oh and the BFing took off, lucky me. I'd swap a vaginal birth for the ability too BF anyday  I love it when James falls asleep at breast with milk streaming from his gob :)
Sounds like you are going well Kimba. Kayley was getting into a routine sleeping until aboiut 1am then about 4.30 unti last night when she was grizzly and hungry frequently - possibly this growth spurt thing. I took her and the dog for a walk and she slept for a while - I should have had a snooze too but wrapped xmas pressies instead. Oh well.
I have my kris kringle wrapped just need to make it down to the post office to send!!
My friend in Adelaide had her 3rd bubs last night. We are thinking of moving over there in the next year or so so I guess Kayley will have a playfriend. Phoebe was her name I think it is gorgeous.
Anyway I gotta run my arm is getting sore holding grizzly bum, Best wishes to all.
LOL Nats!!! I was meant to be a September mum (original EDD was 16 Sept! then 30 Sept, then 3rd Oct) - but my lazy little man decided he liked his cushy life in the womb too much to make an appearance, until we evicted him on 13th October! Otherwise I might well have ended up a November mum
My 'seam' is already a 'pleat', got a lovely overhang now with my flabby mummy-tummy LOL. But it healed up really well. Sorry yours popped open that must have been painful and freaky! glad it wasn't too serious.
I'm with you on BFing over a vaginal birth mind you it's taken me 8 weeks to sort the BFing out and I wonder how much it was affected by the induction/ c-section etc...anyway it's good to hear you're going well and James is gorgeous - look at that hair!!! I love it. Jet's beautiful hair is all falling out now, he has bald patches :crying: I was hoping he'd hang onto it, it was so silky...hope his new hair is just as nice, when it finally comes through!
Beck - don't you hate it when you don't expect your bub to sleep long so you don't have a snooze yourself, and then you realise you wasted a good napping opportunity! At least you got pressies wrapped :yelclap: that's more than I've managed yet...
hey all
I just wanted to jump on in quickly and say i had montanah to the hospital last night with not feeding and high temps etc and the doc there was as useful as a hat full of a******s he told me that the sweat rash on her face was the start of chicken pox and her ear was a little red nothing to worry about but really could not tell me what was wrong so he told me to water down her feed from 30ml water 1 scoop to50ml water 1 scoop and loose the thickener now in a reflux baby that is just asking for trouble hey or give her cordial so i left there and had to get some panidol and the lady there was more helpful then the doctor she gave me some stuff to rehydrate montanah with and now she is getting better no temp and is drinking little bits at a time
:smiliedance: take care all :xmas:
PS we got our car back yesterday dh took it for a test drive pulled over and said to me now you have a turn and i went 150m up the road and the stupid thing just lost all power so it went back last night on the back of dh's mates tow truck should have it back tomorrow or Monday

Hi all, hope everone has had a great week, not too hectic?? We had a week of 1st's -1st Mummy & Me yoga, 1st trip back into work for lunch, 1st Playgroup and 1st night without having to get up to feed!!:smiliedance: Yup, Isabella is going to bed at 7.30/8pm and sleeping thru to 5ish. I feel like a new woman! Let's hope this is a new trick she keeps doing! :fingerscrossed:
Andrea - thanks for the link to the Baby Talk site, I think Isabella has created her own language??? I hear some of the words, but I'm sure she is saying something else half the time....
Rian - TTC - are you nuts?? lol Honestly tho, if we could afford it, and DP was keen on it, I'd love to try again in the New/Mid Year. I'd really like Isabella to have a sibling close to her own age. DP and his sister are 18months apart and a really close, I think it really nice.
Kimba - How are the osteo apt's going? Isabella had a few and it seems to have fixed her reflux up. Also, I think I've said it before (???) but apparently if your BF and you drink chamomile tea its supposed to help the bubbas witht he reflux?? Seemed to work for us.
Lesley - What the? Doc said Montanah had chicken pox??? Is she ok? Don't you just love it when you leave the doc feeling less than confident with their diagnosis....
Hope everone has a nice relaxing weekend planned!
Cheers, Kristin B
Lesley - give her cordial?? WTF?? What sort of lunatic suggests giving a baby cordial?? That's disgusting.
And to not even be able to tell you what exactly was wrong with her.... I would be making a complaint if that was me. I really don't know what to say. I can imagine you were not at all impressed?
:hugs: to Kristen, Ryley and family. I really do hope that you can have Ryley at home for Christmas. Am thinking of you all.
Sal - Good news about your mum and dad moving to Ballarat. You will now have your mum 'on call' for those times you feel like going insane, lol. We used to live 20 mins from my mum, and when pregnant with DS#3, we moved back into town, so I am only 1 min from both my mum, MIL, and my dad. I must say that having mum so close has been great. It's nice that she will just pop in now, instead of having to 'arrange' visiting times. You must be excited are you?
Sare - I'm hearing you!! I feel exactly the same at times! I have a very jealous almost 2 yr old, and a very demanding almost 4 yr old. Somedays they are fine, but others, like today, I feel like I am going to explode. Then, it doesn't help if bubs is having a bad day on top of it all, does it? I had to ring DH tonight and ask for him to come home, as the kids just wouldn't go to bed, and Jarvis was having an unsettled day (which is so unlike him, so hard to deal with when it happens). Anyway, he came home, and had the kids in bed and asleep within 10 minutes. Why does this happen? Why can't they listen to me?? Anytime you need to vent, feel free to PM me...I'm feeling exactly the same way as you are! :hugs: I'm not sure it ever get easier as such, just easier to cope with!!
Well, I'm off to bed now. I ran out of vitamins last week, and boy can I notice the difference. I'm so tired. I was taking Blackmores Pregnancy and breastfeeding tabs. I have used these through all 3 pregnancies, and the duration of breastfeeding. Can anyone recommend any others that are safe to use whilst breastfeeding, and that may give me a little more oomph?? Ta.
have a good night
What a night...Eloise started vomitting last night at 2am. The poor thing couldn't even keep water down. We eventually managed to clean up and get her settled and Lara woke up for a feed. So it was about 4.15 when I finally got to bed. Eloise is running around now and has eaten some dry toast, so :fingerscrossed: the worst of it is over.
Lesley - I'd be making a complaint about that dr too. That is disgusting recommending giving cordial to a newborn baby. How is Montannah going today?
Sarah & Becca - Thanks for your advice. We had a much better day with Eloise yesterday. I think it is what you said Sarah, it doesn't get easier, just easier to cope with. I am finding that it is so dependent on how tired I am feeling. re: vitamins. I take Elevit and have never had a problem with them. I didn't take anything when I was b/fing Eloise, but I am this time b/fing Lara and I have noticed that I am no where near as tired.
Kristin - :smiliedance: for Isabella sleeping all night (I'm totally envious :D )
Sal - I bet the babies in your Mother's group have their moments too. Everyone in mine thought that Eloise was a dream baby, and even though she was very good, she definitely had her screaming/grizzly times...they just never saw it. Now look what I have a 2 yr old that has grown horns :devil6: ...maybe there's something in what Kimba said about harder babies being good toddlers????
Well all our plans for today have been thrown out the window with Eloise being sick. I think I might go to Blockbuster and hire a few DVDs and sit near the air conditioner all day.
Has anyone heard from Becbabe. She hasn't posted here for a while. I hope everything is ok with her and Ella.
Have a great weekend everyone.
my princess and i are all settled in our new house now. considering i hadnt inspected it before signing i think we were very lucky. there was even a surprise split a/c in the main bedroom and a bathroom to die for. I've never seen a bathtub that deep and large! Too bad about the drought tho, i cant bring myself to use it.
there are a few problems such as windows i cant unlock and the second bedroom having no light switch (??!) but the r/e should fix them up quick smart.
i get my cable connected next week - minor panic when it turned out my ph lnes werent dsl-able. i cant live without broadband!
on the parenting front - abbey has set her own routine, since i was too soft to do it for her. she now goes down at 7pm, up at 1am, 3am, then 6am. i took her into my bed this morning for her breakfast, and we both fell asleep but my milk kept going. We woke up feeling rather damp half hour later.
sounds like everyone is doing well. i didnt know babies this young could get chickenpx tho. scary. not as scary as that gp tho.
must free up my other arm now. tata
Jinxed myself last night - Jet went down at 8.30 then woke at 12.20, 3 and 6.30. As such we're both pretty tired this morning - but do you think I can get him to sleep? Takes ages of soothing and patting to get him to finally nod off - and then 5-10 min later he'll wake himself up! :banghead: He's finally asleep again now and hopefully he'll have a nice long nap...:fingerscrossed:
lesley - sorry bout your car and even worse, your poor bubba girl! how is she doing today? can't believe that doctor at the hospital - I'd be making a complaint too! it's not really chicken pox is it?
M,T & J's MUM - I still think you're a bl**dy legend managing 3 kids I can barely cope with one! My Blackmore's ran out too - I wonder if that's why I feel really cr@ppy ATM...hmmm
sare - sorry that Eloise is sick on top of growing horns I bet you're feeling very over it! DVDs in front of the aircon sounds like a grand plan. Hope E gets better soon.
m_jelly - well done on the house it sounds great - ac and a big deep bath what more could a girl want. You could always save a bit of water by bathing bub with you...but yeah I too feel bad having a bath in this drought. Jet has set his own routine too, last week I could almost set my clock by him! at the moment I keep a diary of feed times (to keep track of timing and topups, for the lactation consultant) and it's hilarious to see that every day is almost identical. But then just when I count on it, he changes it again!
hope everyone is having a nice relaxing day...I'm off to go shopping for secret santa (couldn't go last weekend because mum was here) and then that's it for my Xmas shopping, yay! :smiliedance:
my little champ is sleeping from 7.30 to bout 3.30 every night lately than he has a quick feed than back to sleep for bout another 4 hours. been doing this for bout a week now so i hope it stayz.
i just posted in the general chat section called "its not fair" cant be bothered retyping it as its upset me so feel free to read it
have a good weekend
hope your xmas party at the marriott went well di.

Nicholas slept from 10.30pm til 3.30 then til 7am!!!! best night ever. Pity i was up and down with our other ds. I could have had a great sleep. my boobs were sore this morning though. lol
Glad to here many of you are gettubg much needed sleep!!
Kayley has had a couple of average nights (and days) with little sleep and feeds every 2 to 2.5 hours - hope it is a six week thing and will improve in a couple of days. She is sitting on mr hiccuping at the moment = so cute!
As for vitamins I am on a cocktail! I use blackmores gold multi plys caltrate (as I cannot have any dairy at the moment without upsetting Kayley and i am intolerent anyway). I am also having a B/C supplement and Lysine (to prevent cold sores). I was taking garlic and horseradish but found it was upsetting Kayley so threw them out and replaced with th B/C one,
Anyway I better run so I can enjoy the shandy DH just made me - yum!
i added more photos to my space if you want a squizz
www.myspace.com/suesspace77
Having an average day as Sam has been very grizzly and chucking heaps with reflux. Luckily, it was all over DH and not me (5 times!). Poor little bub has finally gone to sleep and now I have to wake him to go to Nanny's house. We have to go and watch a friend of ours wrestle tonight (that pro-fake stuff that yankies love). His wife is pregnant and she has made him quit, so this is his last show. I will be wearing sunnies and a wig so no-one I know recognises me! It will suck but he is a good mate.
suemp - Read your post. You are right - it isn't fair! Poor little bubbies and poor Mum! I was very worried about my Sam whilst pregnant because I have two heart conditions and DH has one as well. I hope Kane is okay. Sounds like a lot of work ahead.
m_jelly - I bet you are living next to the airconditioner right now! I would so love one of those old claw-footed bathtubs - yours sounds as deep as one of those...
Sare - Is Eloise OK today? Sounds awful!
Ooops - gotta go and feed grizzle-bear. I am very sad that his 000 clothes don't fit anymore. It feels such a waste to only wear them a few times! I will pass them on...
We've well and truly had a $hitty day. As well as Eloise's middle of the night vomitting, poor Lara has hardly slept today because of the stinking heat here in Melb. Eloise went down for her afternoon nap and started screaming...it turns out she'd put a hair clip in her mouth and almost swallowed it. She scared us because she said that she'd swallowed it and it had gone down her throat, but after much questioning and a thorough search of her bedroom, it looks like she gagged on it. Then to top it off, our air conditioner which is only a few years old has decided to pack it in. So we've had to call a 24/7 service guy to come out and have a look at it and it looks like we'll be up for at least $300.
Sue - :hugs: I too had a read of your post and it sounds like you are going through a real tough time. I'm hoping for the best for you and Kane and am here if you ever want to chat. Oh and I had look at your photos they're great. I especially love the one of Jake holding Kane.
m_jelly - :yelclap: on the house. Sounds like I need to be at your place today with an air conditioner that actually works :banghead:
Kimba - Hope you got your nap.
Hey All
Hope everyone has had a great weekend. Our first christmas party was ok. Not really my cup of tea, they were a bit more upitty than me. I felt like a fish out of water and I think Adam picked up on it because he was pretty cra**y until about 9.30 when I finally got him to sleep. Would have soooooooooo loved to pull the old boob out and chuck it in mouth but they had no parents room and I don't think the company would have enjoyed it much... ah well. Off to another one tonight but am relaxed and looking forward to this one so junior is good and sleeping already.
Well I better go and put on some clothes...naked typing could be dealy if the wrong person walks in lol
catch up more tomorrow
Hi everyone
I have been MIA for ages now.... this time of year is INSANE!! I thought I would be ontop of things for once because Im not working full time, but xmas shopping with a baby just isnt that much fun.....
Chelsea got her needles on Thursday and she just hasnt been the same since. VERY grumpy, and there is a huge bruise on her leg where the nurse pinched a chunk of fat to jab her. NOT HAPPY! Did anyone elses bubs get bruised??????
I have just posted in the secret santa thread, but I just wanted to thank Chelseas secret santa again  We got the present last week and it is now under the :tree: :smiliedance:
I hope everyone else is doing well and surviving the silly season with a newborn!
kane my lovely boof is sleeping for 10 = hours at night now (dont mean to rub it in) but its got me wondering how much i should feed and how often during the day now to make up for it . the little piggy has had 3 bottles since 5 this morning
seeing miidy tomorrow. will ask her
Suemp - I find that Jarvis generally feeds 3 hrly for most of the day after sleeping longer periods at night. He is usually sleeping anywhere from 8 hrs +
Helps one feel a little more human doesn't it?
Ali3099 - aww, not nice that little chealsea got a bruise from her needles. I can't remember any of mine ever getting a bruise. Jarvis has his on the 21st of this month, so :fingerscrossed: all goes well with his.
Sare - I hope you've had a better day today!!
Mmm, well, we've had a family christmas party today at my Aunty's place at Bells Beach. My uncle dressed up as Santa. It was absolutely beautiful to see the kids faces when they saw him. Tallan was in shock I think, just staring and repeating 'Santa, Santa'. They each got a bag of lollies, then Santa sat on the couch for cuddles. I gave him Jarvis to encourage the others, and when I picked him up, he had pooed all over my uncle!!! It was everywhere, and of course, it covered the white fur on Santa's coat!!! I was so embarrassed, everyone roard with laughter, yet nobody offered me any assistance
The kids had a ball playing tennis on their tennis court, and swimming in the pool. Thank god for having young cousins!! They took my older two off my hands for most of the day. It was lovely. DH never comes along to family things. Unsure of what his issue is, but he feels he is exempt I think. Oh well, we had a good day, although it sure was hot. One of my Aunty's came from Greensborough and she said it was over 40 degrees there. Yuck, it was hot enough here!! All 3 kids passed out in the car on the way home, and luckily for me, all stayed asleep whilst moving them to their beds. I am expecting Jarvis to wake very soon though as he hasn't coped with the hot too good the last couple of days. just not sleeping during the day very well, and feeding a lot more frequently (due to the heat).
I've prattled on long enough, I'll be off to spend some time by myself!! Hope you all had a good weekend
Evening all,
Well we survived our 2nd xmas party last night. It was so much more relaxed and friendly than the one on Friday night. Adam was a treasure and let everyone nurse him then had a feed and slept the rest of the night. He has been an angel today.
Has anyone else's little ones decided to crack the sh**s when they are tired. I have noticed Adam will feed, play, usually feed some more then get grumpy. He does the whole open mouth at the nipple thing but won't take it or his dummy then he all of a sudden he turns towards me and he is instantly asleep. Its weird but not funny. I told John I hope he is over it before xmas as we are gonna have sooooo many rellies driving us nuts..imagine what he will do if he gets over tired...
We have decided to have a naming ceremony for him when we are back at Chrissy as all of our families will be there. Decided to go with a naming as John's family are strict Catholic (but he never goes) and my family are Uniting. Couldn't handle the stress of religion issues so I put my foot down and said we would have a naming. The 27th Dec is the date we have agreed on. Now we just have to organize it all long distance. Thank God for the internet. The celebrant has emailed so many ideas across. I just need to go through it and see what John thinks and then we'll be right.
My little man put himself to sleep tonight. He has discovered his mobile today and I put it on (5000 times at least) and he just laid there looking at it and gooing at the toys on it. He was in the room about 3/4 of an hour but quite content. Went to check on him just before I started to type and he is out to it....amazing :smiliedance:
Well I think I have dribbled on enough for a Sunday night. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekends.....
15 days to Chrissy :tree:
Another early morning thanks to babe.
Selfish question: She has set her bedtime at 7pm which means her big sleep happens at the wrong time of night, and can no longer be classed as 'sleeping through'. Since she goes to bed so early, her big sleep is over by 2am, and she is definitely ready to get up with the sun at 5am. I want to shift her by 2 hours so she gets up at 7am instead. She's not a good day sleeper anymore, so it would require keeping her awake at night longer and making her overtired and grumpy/ier. Would this work or would it just backfire and ruin her routine?
Does anyone else's bub have a favourite toy/picture they love but is actually really dumb? Abbey LOVES, and I mean mega-loves a sticker on the inside arm of her swing. Its green and shows the positions it can be put in, and is numbered 1-2-3. She stares at it for ages and ages, cooes at it, and sometimes gets angry at it for not talking back. She even ignores ppl she normally loves to play with so she can stare at it some more!
that is so funny about the sticker mjelly
it cant help to try the delayed sllep. it will either work or not.
kane broke his dry run and woke up at 1.30 and 5 this morning for feeds but the weeks break was fantastic
i think i finally got photobucket to work so i will try post these photos (will never get a job in it lol)
http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q58/suemp/scan0002.jpg
http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q58/suemp/scan0006.jpg
Sue - I love the picture, especially on the towels! Kayley slept from about 9 until 1 then after a feed again to 4.30 then I actually got her down again to 7 (normally she wont go down after 5am either mj). So that has been our best sleep so far!!
MIL & FIL will be coming down this morning to look after Kayley between feeds so I am going to run down to target to get some shorts and stuff to get me through Christmas. And I will send my chrissy pressie.
We got ours but DH opened it so I didnt see on the parcel who it was from but thankyou very much the books are great!
I better run and have a shower.
hey all
just wanted to jump on quickly and say
that montanah is doing so much better
no i think she is pre teething you know where they come up to annoy everyone then go away and come back in a few months time she had her two month needles on Saturday she was such a good little girl with them she was asleep when the doc put the first needle in her leg and it shocked her a little but she was fine
I went and seen Robbie on Saturday night he way so good i would have gone back on Sunday night to he was just amazing and so full of energy :smiliedance: :smiliedance: :smiliedance:
lesley - glad to hear that your LO is better and that you had a ball at the Robbie Williams concert.
Sue - What lovely pics!! I am so happy for you (but soo jelouse) that Kane has been having some long sleeps at night. Since her needles, Olivia hasn't been doing her 6-7hours stretch anymore. Now its 3-4 hourly all night. I guess I shouldn't complain - it's better than 2 hourly!
Ally - Ollie was brused from her needles too. The doc hit a vain in one leg, and that bruise is about the size of my thumb. Poor little mites.
Bec - Yay for the sleep! Any little bits of improvement make us feel great, don't they?
mjelly- You always make me laugh, thanks! I think your child is just weird, looking at stickers  ;) I guess you could try to delay the sleep... just suck it and see... it might work, or you may have a very screamy baby. Let us know how you go!
Di - Ollie gets very cranky when she's overtired too. Yay for bub putting himself to sleep! I don't have a mobile for Ollie - I was told not to at the antenatal classes, as it will distract them from sleeping. But, I think I may just get one :D Hope the organising for the naming ceremony goes well!
M, T and J's mum - Sorry, but I laughed out loud at your story with poo and santa!! At least you can be grateful that it wasn't one of those santa's at the shopping centres - now THAT would be embarassing!!
Okay, I'll stop now, before this turns into an essay!!
Hope y'all have wonderful days!

Hi All!
I've just been snooping around your thread (nosey) and saw that on page 1 you guys were discussing frequency of poos on formula. I originally put Bianca on S26 gold, but I'd have to constantly put raw sugar in her bottles to help her do a poo (she wouldn't - and still doesn't drink water) I was then told by a friend about NAN 1HA gold. Aparrently S26 is often too strong for lil bub's tums & can't be broken down properly, meaning that they often get constipated. NAN 1HA gold is partially hydrolised, which means that their tum's don't have to do as much work to break down all the goodies. From day 1 that I put Bianca onto the NAN, she has pooed min 1 time/day (always green, but aparrently normal for NAN). She was also vomiting a little all the time, even 3 hours after her last bottle, but the milk wasn't curdled, which was a big sign that her tum couldn't break the milk down. I tried everything for wind (thinking this was why she was vomiting) from Infacol to Infant's Friend, but as soon as I changed formula's, I didn't need it anymore!!!
YAY FOR US!!!
I hope this helps. I didn't read any further, so someone may have already mentioned this, but hey...
Hi All
Jet's having a sleepy day today  He seems to have a pattern now - a few days where he's really wide awake and wanting to snack frequently and it's hard to get him to sleep and he just catnaps, followed by a day where he'll go down easily and will sleep for hours at a time, and feed 3-4 hourly. Maybe he wears himself out on the awake days? LOL.
I learned a new trick this morning - when he started grunting and stirring at 5am I just popped his dummy in and he went back to sleep. Did it a couple more times, and managed to make it till 6am before he finally wanted to get up. Lovely! (Mjelly maybe you could try it?)
re: dumb toys YES m_jelly! Jet has a habit of staring and cooing at the arm of his swing rather than the doys dangling from it, it's pretty funny. Might have to video it so we can embarrass him when he's 18 (along with the poo-nami photos I've already taken!) *evil laugh*
Question about feeding: how often are your bubs feeding in the daytime? Now that I've cut out the ABM topups Jet's still doing the 2 hourly thing most days, sometimes snacking hourly/ cluster feeding (usually mid morning and late afternoon), lthough on his sleepy days will go 3-4 hours.
We have his 2-month Immunisations tomorrow oooh not looking forward to it - I hope I don't cry! Has anyone tried giving their bub Panadol BEFORE they have their shots, as a pre-emptive tactic? not sure whether to bother or not...

Hey Kimba! I used to give Brianna panadol sometimes before immunisations. Lachlan had his 8 week shots today and I havent given him any yet - he seems absolutely fine!
Hi to everyone!
kimba - mostly Ollie will feed 2 hourly or less during the day. It is a little longer if she sleeps longer though. Sounds exactly like Jet!
Hi Kimba, I gave Jordan panadol before his needles. My cousin suggested this to me as it relaxes bub before the needle if anything else. Jordan wimpered for about a minute if that and once I cuddled him and popped him back into the car he was all smiles. he did sleep though for ages afterwards as well!
Lesley, I was at Robbie on Saturday night as well. Great concert would have gone on Sunday if I could have gotten tickets! I love Robbie Williams and he is the one guy i am allowed to have an affair with!!!!!!
Well i got to go as jordan is waking and will want a feed.....
Lucy
Afternoon girls
Thank you to Adam's secret santa. We received his pressie today and it is under the tree. Much to DHs disgust he thought he should be allowed to open it now.....typical male haha.
Sounds like the girls who went to see Robbie enjoyed themselves...way to go.
Ikis - I think the mobile made his eyelids heavy. I have that trouble if I try to read at night lol. They just get heavier and heavier and then they close. Will see if it works tonight. i tried it today but he just got sh*tt**r with me for trying...ah well.
I have now officially finished with Xmas. All cards are posted, all presents bought & wrapped. Car is getting serviced tomorrow and cross bars put onto roof racks so we can attach roof boot. We leave here Thursday week. 1 week and 5000kms later we will be back.
I think I have the Christening organised, just need to find Adam something to wear. Had a bit of a "discussion" about it today with both DH and Mum. Dh wanted Adam to wear the gown he wore (luckily his mum threw it out). Mum wants to buy something for Adam to wear (but I was a little nasty and said he was our baby and we'd find him something). I don't really care. I was happy for him to wear the gown my other 3 wore. It was made as a gift to me, but both DH & Dad now don't want him to wear a "dress". I can't bl**dy win.
Anyway I have all day to kill while my car is at the shop tomorrow so I'll look then......won't dare buy anything though as I am sure it won't be right lol.....I surrender.
Anyway that is life....Adam has been an angel today. He was grumpy first off but then he had a 6 hour sleep and woke up all smiles and we got a couple of little laughs which was sooooooooo funny. He is now asleep again. Hope he keeps it up tonight. Although I have been side feeding him during the night and I am not half as tired as when I was sitting up to feed him. He seems to go off a lot easier too.
Well all, have a nice day Dh has just arrived home so I better go and talk to him

Hi all
Just a quick note let you know that the awful reflux gremlin is back in our house. :barf: Isabella seems to be responding well to the Losec again, so hopefully things will settle down again quickly. At least this time we picked up on it straight away and the Dr agrees that we need to keep her on her med's for a while.... Stupid paed told us to stop them when she improved last time....
I hear her now, :gloomy: .
Bye
Kristin B
:( Got to bed about 2200 last night. Got up at 0100 for a long feed (45 minutes) and have been up since 0400, got about 20 minutes sleep at 0630 and again around midday and I am bone weary! It has been a very full-on day, with Sam just finishing it nicely by having a massive reflux vomit all over me, himself and the couch. Poor little bug was inconsolable. :crying: It has never been that bad before! DH is at training, so I am on my own until around ten. I had to walk Sam around in the pram and rock him etc to get him to sleep at all today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
I spent most of the day looking at Sam's Secret Santa pressie wanting to open it! I did all the Christmas shopping and it's the only thing there that will be a surprise (I'm getting plants).
Isabella's mummy - Looks like the gremlin decided to pay us a visit as well but it is nowhere near as bad as poor Isabella's. Sam seems to work well with good old Mylanta.
di - Sam wore a lovely family gown for his christening and I spent the whole time telling him how pretty he looked in his frock
kimba - I am trying your trick tomorrow morning!
NayBob - My bub is on S26 and has not had a problem with it but I have heard that it can cause constipation as well. Sam is nice enough to poo 2-3 times every day for me...usually just after I have changed him.
lesley - Glad to hear Montanah is doing better.
Well - time to hit the hay while I still can!

LOL!!! Been there, done that! I even tried catching it in a baby wipe once! What a sight!!!
Hello again... Well typing this with my eyes hanging out of my head. So tired at the moment. think I have to start on some vitamins to boost me or something. I know I like my sleep, but Jordan has been very good lately and have been getting 3-4 hour blocks of sleep.... Doesn't help it being 35 degrees today and it looks like our air con haspacked it in (3 years old too i might add - always had problems with it).
Jordan does 1-2 poos a day. he goes very red and grunts when he is doing poo so i put him in the porta cot and tell him I will be back when h has finished getting rid of it!!! Only been caught once with him not being finished! Now the peeing is another story - at least once a day there is pee everywhere!!! :fingerscrossed: for a girl next time.
Di, 5000kms you are a trooper. That is one long ride. And doing it with a small bub - you deserve a medal.
Kimba, how are you going? Are you starting to feel better? Have been thinking of you dear. Will have to meet up soon. Will have to organise something.
Well Dh is home after starting at 6am this morning... will be off to say hi to him.
Lucy
hey all
lucy i feel the same it was unreal i heard that saturday nights concert was better than sundays
montanah is doing so much better now she is taking demizin 1m-6yrs and is taking full bottle to boot I LOVE BEING A MUM TO 4 we are getting a pool on friday woo hoo going to need it this summer i can tell you
take care all
:xmas: LESLEY:reindeer:
Lesley... that is lovely to hear someone say that they love being a mum to 4. So often you only hear people say the bad things (which of course there are), but often you hear the complaining more than the enjoyment part! :D
Yes, Kimba & lynette we do need to organise something - is it too close to Christmas (and all the running around involved) to do something next week, or the week after?
Jen - sorry to hear that you had a tough day today! :hugs: Sending sleepy vibes to Sam tonight, so you can get a good sleep yourself.
Olivia's only nap today was 2.5 hours from 9-11:30. Then she finally (after much feeding and patting and rocking) went down at 7pm. She just finished a feed... so here is hoping that she will sleep well tonight. I think I just need to accept the fact that she will wake 3 hourly at night and move on, lol. I will get unbroken sleep eventually! It makes it so much harder if you are resenting getting up, doesn't it?
Okay, I better go to bed now  I will be up in a couple of hours!
kane had a bit of a shocker yesterday. didnt help that dp and i were at each others throatas. well more like i was at his and he was putting up with it lol (can you tell my first period has kicked on pms full force lol) no long sleep last night and at 10 we had an entire bottle come up over the bed so had to change that than up again at 1 feeding him and i was sooo tired i could not keep my eyes open i thought i was gonna drop him while burping due to exhaustion. ds has school today so nanny nap for me coming up lol
take care everyone
Morning again ( comes around quick lol)
Bl***y hot water has s**t itself. Just got in to have a shower and man it was cold when the water got me. Got out and boiled the kettle to wash my hair....hate getting dressed without a shower when I have to be out somewhere.
Well we had a lovely night in this house. Not a great huge sleep filled one but lovely all the same. Adam has decided no matter what time he gets up he is going to reward me with smiles and laughing. He was only up at 12.30 (went to bed at 9) then again at 3. I vitually missed the 12.30 feed by lying on my side and feeding him again.(after about 10 mins of smiles). At 3 I sat up to feed him because I worry if I side feed he'll fall out of bed on that side.
Quick ?????
Does anyone else who is Breast Feeding have 2 completely different boobs? One of mine goes as hard as a rock when its full, but the other one seems to have more/better milk as Adam settles better of this side. But this one leaks ALL the time. I get no let down feeling in it either. It's weird.
Lucy : not sure about the girl thing lol. Had two of them - they don't get you in the face but they seem to go sooo much more from memory.
Sue: sorry you had a rough night matey. :fingerscrossed: today will be better for you.
Well we have to spend the whole out as car is getting serviced today.
Have a good one all, hope the weather is kind to everyone.

yep my right boob is smaller and never feels full BUT that's the one that leaks the most and seems to have a stronger let down  when he feeds at night as he gulps from it and there's lots of milk, but in the day it seems to empty real fast. the left is more consistent and fuller feeling. i don't get a let down feeling from either, ever.
:hugs: to everyone who's tired, have unsettled bubs and/or bubs with reflux.
pam and lynette would love to try and catch up before xmas...will pm you.
jet is so cute today, was cooing and talking to the mobile and toys in his cot when I got him to do tummy time this morning. just wish i could get him to sleep in there! he still naps in his car capsule in the day and sleeps in his bassinet at night.
immunisations today - hope he handles it ok! :fingerscrossed:

HELLO LADIES:wave:
Well what a night!!!.... My beautiful girl slept for 8 1/2 hours.... i cant believe it!!. I put her down at 9pm and she was asleep straight away. i woke at 3am cause thats the time she normally wakes and i went to check her and she was still fast asleep. So i went back to bed thinking any moment i would hear her but i fell back asleep and she finally woke me at 5.30am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I am in total shock. I then fed her and she fell asleep again by 6.30am and stayed asleep till 9.30am. So i feel really refreshed, isnt it amazing how much a good nights sleep can make you feel.
Well i am goin to my work christmas party on thurs night and although i am sure i will miss my girl it will also be nice to be with all adults not talking baby stuff. But i guess i will be talkin about her coz i havent seen most of them since i left and they will wanna know stuff.
Was anyone else stuck on what to buy bubs for christmas...... as far as i can tell she has EVERYTIHNG and we got so much stuff whan she was born i am kinda at a loss what to get her. She has toys and clothes galore!!!...
Is anyone else doing both breastfeeding and formula feeding. I had to start giving Darcy an extra 40-50ml after breastfeeding coz she was still so hungry. It seems to be doin the trick as i didnt want to stop breastfeeding altogether coz i have some milk just not enough at the moment.
Hope everyone has a great day and :fingerscrossed: my girl sleeps like she did last night ( i doubt it) xxxooo
Hi everyone,
Kimba - Good luck with Jet's immunisations today. I gave Eloise panadol before all of hers. I remember they said the pnuemmococial had a bit of sting to it, so I gave it her with the hope that it wouldn't hurt as much.
Di - My boobs change all the time, there's no reall consistency to which one is fuller or gets hard if it's too long between feeds. I think it may have something to do with forgetting which side I gave Lara the last feed from. I think I should invest in one of those brestfeeding bracelets to remind me.
Sue - I hope Kane sleeps better for you tonight. That sucks about AF returning so soon after having Kane. I'm hoping I won't get mine for ages...it took 12 months after having Eloise, but I have polycystic ovaries, so that may have had something to do with it.
Pam - I hope Olivia slept better for you last night. I hate broken sleep. Eloise slept through from around 6 weeks, but I don't think that Lara will.
Lesley - I'm glad Montannah is doing better. So jealous of you and Lucy going to Robbie :D .
Lucy - Not sure that girls are much better with the peeing everywhere. Lara normally waits until we have her bum up in the air to wipe it and wees all over herself. Our air-con pack decided to break down on Sat when it was 37 in Melb. I cracked the $hits with DH and made him get a serviceman come and fix it that day. So glad I did because it was 41 on Sunday and there's no way we would have been able to cope. Mind you it cost almost $400. I told DH if he didn't get someone that day I was going to book a motel room for the night so me and the girls could get some sleep and then we would have to pay for the air con to get fixed on top of that!
Jen - I hope Sam had a better night's sleep too. When are these babies going to realise more sleep = a happier mummy = better for them???
To anyone I've missed  Hope you are doing well.
Well Eloise is over the gastro, but DH caught it. So we didn't get much sleep on Sunday night with him being sick. Yesterday I took the girls out for the day, so that he could get some rest, so I was tired from a day of shopping with mum. Then when I got home I got dinner ready for Eloise and I and fed Lara, wrapped a few more pressies, washed the dishes, did some laundry. It was almost 10pm when I finally sat down. Then Lara woke up for a feed. She was up then until 2.15am...by that stage I was well and truly knackered!!! But to top it off she was up again at 5.15 for another feed...UGH!!!
But on the good news front, she is finally smiling. It's so cute. I'm yet to catch one on camera, but as soon as I do it will be my new avatar.
Oh well, I think I've blabbed on enough for today.
Is anyone else doing both breastfeeding and formula feeding.
Yep, I've had problems with my supply since day 1, was giving formula topups (up to 60ml) with every feed for a while. But now after lots of effort to build up my supply I only have to top Jet up with 30-60ml a couple of times a day, usually in the afternoon/ evening when my milk is at it's lowest. Or if he's being particularly grizzly, LOL. Some days he needs more, some days less. I was hoping to be exclusively BFing him, but if this is as close as I can get, then I can live with it :)
Sare - Jet is camera shy too, he'll be smiling away then I'll get the camera and he'll go all serious or do his 'oooh' face. But I finally got some smiling shots yesterday, hurrah :)
OK off to get the baby panadol and dose my little man up before we go to the doctor!

Hi, Hope all is well today I haven't been near a computer.
Kimba - I hope the needles go well for Jet, you just reminded me I need to sort Sophia's out
Sare - what a day you had yesterday. The smiles are the best aren't they!
Mary-Anne - Great sleep you lucky thing. We are doing 11 - 5.30 at the moment which I am pretty happy with.
Di - same here with the boob, one always feels big and full and the other empty. The empty gives quite a strong let-down so I know it's working lol. I agree with the girl thing, you don't escape wee wee.
Pam- I hope you get a longer sleep soon. Although if you're anything like me you will wake up with a fright at 5am with big leaky boobs wondering why your girl is still asleep!
We had our work christmas do on sun which was fun. Dh super hungover yesterday and Sophia was quite grizzly so I just put her in bed with him crying  No complaining though!
I must start christmas shopping today I am absolutely dreading it which is a shame because I normally love it.
Hope all is well with mums and bubs.
Would love to see you Sydney girls as well.
Best,
Georgia
diesel: as far as xmas goes we are only getting kane something so jake doesnt wonder y the santa only went to him not his brother iykwim. we got kane a laughing puppy, a book and a walker (which he is ob way to young for but id buy it in the future anyway) we were at my friends yesterday and i changed kane on her change table and she had an aquarium thingy going for her bub. kane seemed to like that too.
Hi All
I have my grizzly girl asleep on my shoulder again!! She hasnt slept much today - a few catnaps. Had her asleep in the pram but she woke up - bugger! Thank god for baby bjorn otherwise I wouldnt have got anything done today!
Kayley has her shots next Tuesday. We are participating in a new vaccination trial so they come to the gouse to give them which is great.
As for wees - Kayley has a big habit of going as soon as I take her nappy off - it might not go as far as a boy but still means plenty of clothing changes! Add the one big serious poo which is startung to be a habit and I am doing lots of washing. Our tumble drier busted yesterday - damn!!
My boobs are dufferent with one gettung harder than the other but that is the one with a breast lump which may be the cause. I cant actually feel my let down but Kayley chokes every now and then when it comes quickly. She seems to be getting enough so I am not too worried. I am lookin forqard to getting her weighed next week.
Sare - I am noxt expecting a period for ages either. I have always been very irregular and have polycystic ovaries too. I needed some drug to help get pregnant with Kayley.
As for daytime feeds, I am ranging betwen 2 and 3 hours most of the time with an occasional longer or shorter one. I was consistantly feeding 8 times in 24 hours until the last week with a couple of 9 and 10 times but I hope this will settle again.
I am looking forward to xmas even though it doesnt feel like it. I am going to SA for a couple of weeks to stay with my mum and get to show off my little one to her aunties!!
Anyway I am getting a sore shoulder from my porker so am going to go!
Well the needles weren't as bad as I thought (phew). Gave Jet Panadol before we went, he didn't make a sound for the first needle, and cried for the second pneumococcal one - but no worse than any cries I've already heard from him (sometimes he cries worse than that for something as basic as a nappy change, or no apparent reason! LOL). Gave him a cuddle and a quick boobysuck at the doctors and he went off to sleep and slept for an hour, then woke and wanted another big feed with a bottle topup, and has been sleeping ever since...hope he's one of those bubs that sleeps the shots off!
Don't think Jet gained any weight this past week according to the scales at the GP :( so I have to take him to the EC clinic tomorrow just to check again (might just be the different scales :fingerscrossed:). I still have to keep a close eye on his weight to make sure he's getting enough to eat now that I've cut down his ABM topups.
GP also diagnosed Jet with reflux and prescribed Losec to trial and see if it helps - does anyone else give Losec to their bubs, what dosage and how do you give it? The GP said to give 1 x 10mg tablet a day crushed in milk, but the instructions say NOT to crush the tablets, so now I'm a bit confused...will have to call the doc tomorrow just to make sure. Still not sure how i feel about giving him medication but i want him to be happy and healthy...
suemp - those aquariums are great I use ours on the 'ocean sound' setting to get Jet off to sleep for his daytime naps.
mummyG - LOL I do that too (put crying bub in bed with DH when he's trying to take a nap). Well hey our babies have TWO parents why should DH be the one who gets to nap, when we don't get a break ourselves? hehehe.
beck - I'm still feeding 8-9 times in 24 hours and Jet's 2 months tomorrow. If he didn't have such long sleeps at night it'd be even more frequent. Still, whatever makes him happy. Lucky you going to stay with your mum for 2 weeks! I was thinking of doing the same but DH can't get time off work and it's a bit unfair to take his bubba boy away for so long and leave him up here to work! LOL

hi,
i'm glad the needles were ok Kimba. Jet looks so cute with his santa hat on.
Sophia has finally decided to enjoy the fisher price swing thing and is smiling at the mirror and talking to the toy on the side of it, it is so sweet.
Beck - Sophia is the same with nappy off weeing. I think they must like that free feeling! How lovely to have two weeks with your mum. It is great when they can give you a little break as well!
Hope everyone has a good night.
Georgia
Abbey DID NOT like her shots. Screamed in pain for the first one, louder for the second one, and in outraged pain at the third. I think she was extra mad about the 3rd as that one was in the other leg to the first 2. That kind of thing would not make sense to her at all.
Doc was trying to talk to me afterwards but gave up because I couldn't hear him. I gave her boobie before we left, and she slept 30 mins and then grizzled for 4 hours. She's in bed now but I doubt she will stay there.
I even gave her panadol before the shots too!
We saw her daddy for the second time on the weekend. That was weird. I call him daddy when talking to Abbey about him, but its soooooo weird to pass her to him and call him daddy to his face. Its like I don't really think he's daddy at all.
Oh, sorry that Abbey hated her shots m_jelly! Poor bubba. How come she had 3? Jet only had 2...one in each leg. One had almost all the vaccines in it and the other just had the pneumococcal on its own...and that was the one that stung him. We gave him Rotarix as well (to prevent gastro) but that's given orally.
mummyG that's cute that sophia loves her swing. Jet's decided he doesn't like his now! he used to sit there rapt and his eyes would glaze over and he'd go to sleep within minutes. but now he'll only seem to enjoy it for a little while then he gets bored and starts to shout for me and wants out!
OK better go...bub is with DH, and has just chucked twice and is starting to grizzle. Mum to the rescue! :wizard:
Poor Abbey! Ollie only had 2 needles, but screamed for an hour afterwards... boobie would not work to console her!
Olllie has been a total... cranky bum... all day. Kind of getting over it, to be honest. She will just scream for no apparant reason, and then stop crying for no apparant reason and give us big smiles and cooo's. Doesn't seem to matter what I do  can't figure this kid out. Every few weeks it seems she completely changes, and what was working ceases to be effective. Just need to go with the flow I think!
Sare, great to hear that Elouise is better, but sorry to hear that your DH now has it. Is he harder to look after than Elouise, lol? Probably not, as he isn't in nappies :D Hmmm... now that would be fun, wouldn't it? :barf:
Kimba, your new avatar is ADORABLE :D

Hi all, hope everyone is coping with the pre-xmas crazies and the heat!
does anyone else give Losec to their bubs, what dosage and how do you give it? The GP said to give 1 x 10mg tablet a day crushed in milk, but the instructions say NOT to crush the tablets, so now I'm a bit confused...will have to call the doc tomorrow just to make sure. Still not sure how i feel about giving him medication but i want him to be happy and healthy...
Kimba - Ask you Dr about the stuff we give Isabella. It's already in liquid form so is quick and easy to dispense. Called Omperazole (Losec family), 5mg/1ml suspension 100ml. Have to keep it in the fridge. She gets 1ml orally by syringe twice daily before a feed. Immediate results!
Di - The booby factor - yeah, mine are different, let down differently and harden up differently. Isabella seems to prefer the left side, I think the right lets down too fast for the poor little tyke!
Hope everyone gets a great sleep tonight!

Hey all,
What a long old day today was. We still have no hot water as the plumber said it was an electrical fault and the electricity mob can't come until tomorrow.....geeeeeezzzzzzz and it's hot and I'm sticky and grumpy after a full day of tromping the shops waiting for my car to be fixed.
Dropped it in at 8.30 and never got it back until 3...then they charged me nearly $700 damn dollars. It was only meant to be an oil change and cross bars put on our roof racks. The cross bars were over $300...
On the UP side, Adam was an angel all day. He woke for a feed at 10.30 and another at 2 but pretty well slept the rest of the time. When we got back to pick up the car he was all smiles and playing with Chloe(my 15 yr old). Until he let off on her. That was funny she handed him straight to me and I asked if he did a stinky fart on her...he had the biggest grin and the cutest little chuckle ( who says they don't understand!!!!)
He has been a little turd since we got home though. From about 5pm he just screamed and nothing would calm him down. Actually gave him some panadol tonight in case he is picking up the vomiting thing Chloe had. Maybe it was too much out in the pram...
Funny how everyone seems to have a saggy right boob....I wonder if all of us are right handed???
Anyway I have dribbled on enough. Enjoy the rest of your night:wave:
Hi ladies, nealy all done packing and tomorrow I will be out of my house.
James had his needles today, he didnt like them but got over them quickly. How many needles are they suppose to have?
Another question, James has a bottle at 8pm than again at 2-3am and after that he is grizzly and grunty and farty and seems to pull his legs up alot. I have had him on infants friend which seems to do nothing but does this sound like colic? I brought so BRAUERS COLIC relief stuff and have given his some to go to bed and will give him more when he feeds but just wondering if this is what it is...
Well I am going to be gone for a while. I am going to miss you guys and hope you miss me too :crying:
To my secret santa recipients, I will be express posting gifts this friday ;) and to James secret santa I am having my mail diverted so he will still get his gift..
Ok well I am off too bed but good luck with everything and I hope to catch up soon...
R + J
Hey All
Kayley had a terrible night last night with bad colic I thought he was getting over. Tried the Marina mixture which did not appear to havr an immrdiate effect but eventually got her off to sleep after that while on my gliser chair listening to baby CD. She woke for a feed about 10:30 then 2:30 and 5:30. Tried to put her down after this but she was all gurgly and not comfy so she has been asleep on my shoulder since (first in bed and now here) - seems to be a common result after 5am ish feeds.
Well sorry for those who didnt handle the shots so well - not looking forward to that next week.
Kimba - can I ask how much the Rotarix was as I have been told it is very expensive (need about 3 doses at around $100 a pop?)
Anyway I hope everyone has a good day. I have to brave Target again to swap over some shorts as they were a smaller size than the hanger!
Oh and yes it annoys me when DH has naps or goes to sleep when I am dealing with the screams but Kayley is a mummies girl and will not settle with him anyway - she gets so worked up. But I am looking forward to eventually moving off the boob so he can share in feeds and I can hopefully get a good night sleep!
Hi all,
Well you wouldn't believe it ... poor little Lara now has gastro. :( This morning after vomitting 3 times in 40 mins (she never vomits) I ended up ringing the 24hr MCHN line and the nurse said to take her to hospital to get her checked out. While we were there Lara only vomitted the once, but she isn't feeding (understandable when she's not feeling well). So at the moment I'm doing about 3-4 min feeds every hr. She's so sleepy, but not in the least bit grumpy. We were at the hospital for about 5hrs and they were happy that it was probably gastro and she is feeding and having some wet nappies, but if her condition worsens I have to take her to my GP or back. :fingerscrossed: it won't get to that. So it looks like I'll get it tomorrow night, because it's been every 2nd night that I've been up to someone being sick and I'm sure they've all been very generous and shared their germs with me :D .
I'll hop back on for personals. Gottago and pump to get rid of these sore, full boobs.
Sare - Aww, poor little Lara! That must be horrible for you seeing her feel unwell. I hope she is feeling better really soon, and :fingerscrossed: you don't get it!! That's the last thing you need!!
Beck/Kimba - Wow, I never even knew there was a vaccine against gastro! I did a search and found that they are given two doses, one at 2 months, then one at 4 months, for a total of $110 each. Is that right? Do you know if you can claim on it if you have private health? With DS1, the pneumococcil (sp??) one wasn't on the schedule, so we were up for over $500 for those immunisations.....there were three. We also had to pay for the menigoccal ones also, as we gave him an extra two doses. (He was in daycare fulltime from 6 months, and we weren't taking any chances!) Any info would be great!
Rian - I hope the move went well today!
Di_Matt - Spewing bout the hot water!! I can't survive without my hot water!! Oh, and the cost of the car!! Gee, $700 sounds a bit steep. My DH is a diesel mechanic, and he will do whatever needs doing to my car, usually. I hate the times we take it in to be done somewhere though, as they always charge 3 times the amount it really costs! Funny about the whole boob thing....It's my left boob that usually is most full too. And, yes, I'm right handed!
Jarvis has been sleeping so wonderfully during the day over the past 4 days, then today.....well, what can I say! I have had to hold him to get him to sleep three times, and he will scream and scream if I put him down, then stop as soon as I pick him up. Not happy, I can tell you! He is asleep now, finally. I have just put the older two to bed (early night here!), and I'm going to try to go and do the groceries....BY MYSELF!! That will be weird. We have DS2's birthday on Saturday. He will be 2. We are having the party at our place, which should be fun, I hope. I always stress way too much when entertaining, and never get to enjoy myself, but this time, I have delegated things to others. I am left having to do hardly anything! Then, on Sunday, we are having Christmas lunch here too, for my Dad and his partner, as they will be away for Christmas.
Better go and scof my tea and get that shopping done before Jarvis wakes again.
Hello!
I left Jet with DH today and finally went and got my secret santa shopping done - there's no decent bookshops near here - will be posting it tomorrow :xmas:
Jet has been in a fabulously contented mood since his immunisations yesterday, and is sleeping really well today too, maybe it's just a reaction LOL. I feel almost like I should wake him up to feed him, so he's getting enough to eat! Mind you, he did wake at 1.30am, then 3.10, 4.20 (and was awake till 5.10) and 6.15 this morning...so I hope he doesn't repeat THAT little performance tonight :fingerscrossed:
Re: Rotarix. It cost me $98 (chemist discounted it for me, said it should be $123?) and is apparently claimable on private health insurance if you're covered (haven't tried to claim yet so I'm not sure how much you get back). You need two doses - one at 2 months and then another between 14-24 weeks so we'll do it again at his 4 months immunisations. Apparently it's going to be added to the free immunisation schedule 'soon' but who knows when? I mainly did it because Jet is bottlefed as well as breastfed, also he's going into daycare at 6 months (if we get a place - no confirmations yet!) so I don't want to run the risk of gastro...
Speaking of which, Sare, I hope poor little Lara gets better soon!!! sending get well vibes your family's way :wizard:
Rian of course we'll miss you hope the move goes well and that you're back with us soon!

Hi
just quickie as rushing around for next lot of visitors to stay plus school hols now & xmas to get organised!
Thank you for Harry's secret santa, it arrived today:smiliedance: have hidden it or ds1 will want to open it now...
Diesel44 - I am mix feeding & is going really well, he definately needs it
:hugs: to all the bubs having needles, we have really smelly poos here for the day after so be warned........lovely!!!
Harry is sleeping through the night now, he drinks lots in day and has a few short sleeps, morning, lunch & afternoon then down for 8pm and up at 6am, think the daylight saving change here has also helped as no light coming in til 6am and was 5am before, he was having feed at 10pm to keep him going but dropped it on his own, he takes after dh, loves his sleep.......
Di - my boobs are lop sided too lol...
Rian - All best for the move & thanks again for organising the secret santa
Sare - you poor thing, :hugs: to you all, nothing worse than when they are ill, hopefully you don't get it too.
Gotta go now and clean floors then get food sorted for first visitors arriving tonight for the ashes cricket this week in Perth, catch up later
Teresa
Hey All
Sarah: Jarvis sounds like Adam. The last 3 days he has been a terror from around 5pm. He won't eat and just screams unless I've got him. Today he has had a real boobie day. I feel like he has been attached non stop for the last 3 1/2 hours lol. DH is a little grumpy as he just screamed his head off at him ( ah well, I get it most days).
He certainly solved the "one full boob, one floppy boob problem  they are both that floppy tonight I might need to wear socks to bed to keep my nipples warm ( tmi lol)
Sorry to hear Lara is sick....what a bummer for you and her. Big :hugs: to you both.
Well I went and weighed Mr Magoo today. He has put on 510gm ( 1lb 2oz) in a week....I nearly died when I read his weight. All this time we have been trying to get him to hit the 5kg mark.....well we certainly did it. He is 5390gm 11lb 14oz. He looks like he got in early for the Christmas pudding lol. The poor health sister couldn't believe it.
Can I ask if any other doctors go by dates for needles..not weeks? Adam is 8 weeks tomorrow but they won't do his needles until the 19th because that's when he is "2 months". I don't really want to have them the day before we head off on holidays....Might ring them back and tell them to leave it until we get on the 31st Dec.
Boy oh Boy. We have decided to have Xmas lunch this Saturday for just us. The kids don't want to wait until after we get back to open their pressies and we leave next Wed or Thur. I told them they weren't just getting them, so I'll do ham and roast and full Chrissy dinner on Sat. Then they can open their pressies and have time to try them/ wear them out before we go.
Well "I'm Starving" is screaming again.... have a good night.......my poor boobies:o

Hi October mums.....
I have a little girl named Sophie, born on 29 September 2006. But feel as though I need to belong to the October mum's group as she was born right at the end of September and would have more in comon with your experiences.
Sophie was 7ib 10oz and 51 cm long. She is smiling alot and a precious little gem however definately has her bad days.
Well I guess the reason I started bubhub was to look for support around parenting as my little one decided to become a bit of a handful at six weeks old.
However, I feel I need to post tonight as I have just had an argument with my husband around household chores.
I guess I am sick of hearing that he is so tired. He got home at 4 today after starting work at 5 and since this time as been sitting on the computer until now. I was racing around trying to look after Sophie and get her to bed, meanwhile the time turns 9:00 and I still ave not had dininer. My husband did not want to cook as he was tired and not hungry and I said " Well what about me". His response was well what about me I am stuffed as I have worked 4 12 hour shifts and cooked for you four night this week, and you get ****ty at me for not cooking for you tonight.
Any way this is my vent I guess I am feeling really frustrated and p@#$d off.
Can anybody tell me what the deal is with all the DD's and stuff so that I can use the right lingo.
Cheers
Sophie's mum.

thet are the most common ones.
kane the little ahem got up at 1 last night and decided it was awake time. finally got him to sleep at 3:30 than he was up at 6.30:banghead:
sare : i hope laras feeling better and that have escaped gettin the bug.
di: regarding the shots, im going by calender dates ie waiting till after the 23rd for shots. it wont be a prob if you wait cause if your kids sic they wont immunise them till they get better. jake had plenty of shots put on hold due to this.
rian:good luck with the move
sophie: i can understand youre frustration as we have a 2 storey house and all the living areas are upstairs, downstairs is a double garage etc come some nights and downstairs is like the local pub with dp being host while im upstairs doing everything:banghead: im a bit different though. if dp has worked all day and has to work the next day im pretty lenient on him as he gets up early (4.30ish) works a very physical job out doors in the heat and i know it takes everything out of you (as ive worked physical jobs in the past) not saying we have it easy or anything and dont deserve a break at all but if he too tired to go to work we have no money if you know wat i mean. now if he has a day off thats another storey lol
better go jakes starving to death and little boof needs a bath

Hi all,
been awol for a few days as went to visit my bro/sil for a couple of nights........did a huge post before I went away and logged on today only to find it not here:banghead: !!!
Welcome sophies mum,
not going to do personals as there are so many to catch up on- will be back later for that after I have caught up!
Had a great time visiting- first trip away with nedd, and DP couldn't come cause of work, so I survived two 4.5hr trips on my own- yay!
Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say hi, be back later!
Welcome Sophies mum!
It's now 2.15pm and Jet's been asleep since about 12  It's so unusual for him to have long sleeps in the day - I don't know what to do with myself! I should be having a nap, but I'm too awake. He did this yesterday too, even napped from 4.30 till 8 last night, during the 'witching' hours!
Mind you he was up last night at 1am, then 2.30, 4.30and 6.30, and slept with me in bed till 8.30. I much preferred it when he was only up at 2.30am and 6.30am...hope he isn't starting to get day and night mixed up  I can't handle the sleep deprivation! LOL.
Want to go and weigh him at the clinic tomorrow because I'm anxious to see if he's still gaining weight OK now that I've cut down the formula topups. He doesn't seem to be drinking much from me, although he isn't crying from hunger so it's hard to tell!

ok really quick but embarassing question.. i am goin out tonight and sat night and my mum is minding Darcy. I am wondering how i will relieve the pressure of my boobies wanting to explode coz i will miss 1 maybe 2 feeds???...... What did the breastfeeding ladies do when their bubs are being minded.
Hey Diesel - I think you have to express anyway - I have not come up with this yet but am assuming I will need to bring the breastpump out with me and do a quick express.
We had an average night last night but the one before was not good. Kayley had bad colic at night and I gave her Marina mixture - not sure if it helped but eventually setled her down anyway. Well the next morning she had bad reflux - kept coughing and choking and screaming! Not good. She does get a bit of reflux in the mornings but not this bad - I think I might leave the Marina mixture nest time - the same thing happened when I ried Infacol but the reflux was immediate.
Anyway I am booked in to have the Rotateq vacination tomorrow (thid is a 3 dose one instead but they want me to use this version for consistancy with the immunisation trial). Then Kayley will be having her full vaccinations on the 19th. This is just shy of 8 weeks so Diu I am not sure wgat the problem is with your doc???
One good thing is that for last 2 days feeds are getting back to around 3 hourly give or take - yay!
Sophie - I am having a bit of that issue with DH. I am feeling a bit unloved at the moment!! We had an arguement on Friday night when he was drunk - all OK now but I know he resents the extra work - Kayley is such a grizzle guts though I barely get a chance to have my hands free to get anything done - oh well I am sure it will get better when she starts to be able to amuse herself.
Anyway I gotta go - best wishes to all.
Hello all. I am absolutely buggered  . I spent today doing the groceries (Sam screamed most of the time as he did not like the trolley seat thing) and then had to buy some more Christmas presents (work secret santas). I left home at 0830 and only just sat down (1620). I bought myself a bottle of white wine and am looking forward to getting stuck into it with tea! DH has been very well behaved, so even though he already got his Christmas present, I bought him a bottle of Canadian Club (his favourite drink of all time but we never buy it because it is so expensive).
M,T&J's Mum - I think next time I will do shopping without little bunny! He screamed and screamed so much if I put him down that one of the woolies girls came and emptied my trolley for me!
di - nice weight gain  Hope your mini Christmas goes to plan.
Sophie's mum - Welcome! I know exactly how you feel. The girls here had to put up with me moaning about exactly the same things. I cracked it and told DH to take a day off work. He did and looked after Sam for the day. Ever since then, he has been a lot more understanding! Still not doing his share but getting closer....
diesal444 - I went to a Ball when Sam was 3 weeks and I was still BF. I took my pump and halfway through the night I went into the ladies and fixed myself up! I was so worried I would leak all over my lovely gown!
beck75 - What is it with our partners and drinking? My last massive fight was with my DH when he was tanked. You know what? Stiff poo! He has a baby and has to grow up and help out. My DH got this same lecture off me when he was whining about not being able to go to training one night.
Well - have to go pick DH up from work (1 hr round trip - we only have one car). Can't wait to get home and have a nice large glass of white.

Hi Guys,
It is the worst feeling having a screaming baby in the shopping centre isn't it..... Everyone looks at you and you feel so stupid.
DH only recently had his birthday. The silly thing is that his christmas presents arrived from overseas the day before. It so happened that I was out all that day and when we got home they were sitting in a package at the front door. DH bugged me so bad to tell him what his presents were that I have them to him as part of his birthday present. So for christmas he gets some undies and a dvd from me. Some undies and a vegetable peeler he has been looking at from Sophie (He has a facination with cooking utensils, pity he doesn't actually use them inthe kitchen)
Oh and santa bought his a egg poaching pan. This was really for me though
Sophie has just nodded of in her bouncer. I have put a sheep skin in it and she seems to like the warmth and softness. I think I will try this every day from now on.
DH and I gave Sophie a bath last night. She is just starting to learn how to kick and she loves the bath. I gave her a relaxing massage. It was really great bonding time.
is anybody planning on going back to work in the near future. I am going back to work in early to mid february. I got a promotion at work and need to go back so I can earn the big dollars. I am a little woried though Shophie does not seem to settle while in the care of DH's mother. I always get phone calls to come home when I am out as MIL can't settle her. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to manage this.
Also Sophie sucks her fists alot. I think she is going to be one of those children who puts everything in their mouths. MIL always takes this a though she is hungry however I know that it also means she is tired. MIL filled Sophie up on milk the other night instead of just putting her to bed. Low and behold Sophie would not settle and continued screaming at their house as she had a really bad pain in the belly. I find it hard to put my foot down and give her strict outlines as to Sophie's routine....
:shame:
I can't wait for christmas it is going to be such a special time with it being Sophie's first christmas

Hi
Sue - what a bugger about your licence, its just not fair.
Linda - welcome. This is a good place to get stuff off your chest so vent away!! If I were you and your mil will be a regular care giver I would tell her about your routine. It will help her in the long run and if something is working for Sophie you don't want it to stop working!
Jen - enjoy your glass of wine, sounds like have earned it!
Kimba - Hi:wave: I hope it was just a bad night, maybe something to do with needles? I hope Jet has put on lots of weight for you!
Sal - welcome back, i'm glad you had a great trip. Did he sleep much in the car?
Beck - I hope things have settled down with dh. Mine is always a bit of a knob after a few...fights ensue!
Sophia had her shots today. She seemed fine afterwards. I got my mum to take her in as I have a morbid / fainting fear of needles (hence enduring 14hrs of syntocinon before epi!) She is a bit ratty and sore now so I gave her some panadol which seems to have helped. Each weeek I get her weighed now she is 300g heavier which seems like a lot. Does that mean I am feeding her too often? I go every 2 and a half during the day and she normally sleeps from 11pm - 5am
I have a baptism this sunday for a little girl - any gift ideas?? I have no idea what is appropriate for that sort of thing.
Better go, boobie required...
Georgia
Sue - :hugs: That sucks big time about you licence. At least it is almost school hols so you don't have to woory about getting Jake to school for a while, but I bet that's no consolation. I believe in karma (very Earlish of me  ) and something bad will happen to that woman. I swear that some people don't have a conscience...I could never do that.
Hi Sophie's mum. Is your Dh taking time off over Christmas? It make hime realise how tiring and busy a mum's day can be when he has to experience it. It certainly worked for my DH. He had 3 weeks off work and all I heard from him was "this is so hard"...welcome to my life!!! Well since then he has cooked numerous dinners and does more than his fair share of the housework.
Jen - Enjoy the wine *insert envious emoticon* A glass or to of sav blanc would go down a treat at the moment.
Mary-ann - I went to a wedding when I was breastfeeding DD1 and was away for most of the day. I took my pump with me and expressed in the car from memory. Ah the joys of b/fing. I got asked to do some relief teaching at the start of the new school year today and I had to turn it down as I still plan to be b/fing and wouldn't be able to express.
Rian - Good luck with the move.
Welcome back Sal. Glad to hear you had a good trip away and Nedd was good for you. I bet your DP missed him to death.
Lara is doing much better today. She is still a little sleepy and her feeds aren't back to normal, but she's well and truly on the mend.
I tried to get a photo of her smiling today...alas no luck. :fingerscrossed: I can get one soon.
Everyone else getting so excited about Christmas??? I can't wait...I'm worse than a little kid; Christmas carols playing and I'm up at the crack of dawn on Christmas morning (after watching the carols the night before). :xmas:
Good evening Ladies,
Have been reading the posts but the days I have time, no-one posts, then I am busy for a couple of days and there are mega posts!!!!
Welcome Linda. My bub was born 29th September as well, but I post here. Chatted with these ladies throughout my pregnancy (was due 11 October) so didn't want to give them up! Jordn is sucking his hand as well and dribble - it is disgusting I am forever wiping his face. He has been funny though as he sucks his dummy and tries to put his fist in as well.
Screaming in a shopping centre - I went yesterday to meet a couple of friends and oonce I arrived he did the biggest number 2 and was screaming for his nappy to be changed. So changed it - still screaming and went back for coffee. Everytime I put him down he would start to scream (poor Gloria Jeans!) so I had to hold him all the time. Then I sat him up and he did the biggest projectile vomit :barf:everywhere must have had a bug or something. Back to normal today. :yelclap:
Well the heat is too much here in Sydney today. Went for a swim which was lovely. Got some very busy days coming up so Kimba and Pam probably won't be able to meet up before New Year so sorry.
I had better run, dishes to be done and Jordan has been asleep for over 5 hours and will want a feed soon. best get it all done before his Lordship awakes!
Chat soon
Lucy
Evening All,
Hope you've had a good day. We have been blessed for the last 24 hours. Adam went to sleep last night about this time 9pm. He never woke until 3.30 then back to sleep until 6.30. He got up and 'played' with the older kids, we took them to school, came home and he had a feed at 9am. He was still awake gooing and ga-ing and smiling so I put him in the pram and headed off for a walk. Got back at 10.50, he was asleep and I never heard a peep out of him until 2.45pm. Got soooooooooo much done after yesterday when he was continual boobed...
lucy - hope Jordan is doing ok now.
Sare - Glad Lucy is feeling better...you'll get that smiling photo. Adam went from occasionally smiling to grinning at everything when he's awake.
Georgia - I don't think you can feed too much. If she doesn't want it, she won't take it. My friends little one put on 1lb (454gm) a week for the first 3 mnths..she's is roly poly but beautiful too. They'll work it off once they start walking.
Sue - got your text...what a pain in the a**e. They make you wonder how you're supposed to manage. What if something happened with Kane?? You'd have to ring me ( that could be scary) :hugs:
Linda- I would just ask MIL to spend a day at your place so she can watch your routine...but as we all know, she will do what she thinks is right. It's a little like out partners we have to let them work it out for themselves and no be too interfering I guess. I know it is hard though.
Jeffy - You did well, I spent half the day out and was buggered, but I think I spent more time in the parent's room feeding Adam the day we went than I did shopping..lol
Have a great night all
Sorry Sare ---- Hope LARA is doing better....geez I'm a nong, too much info in too small a brain...:o
Welcome to Linda... I love bubhub, and the October group is great!
Jeffy - sorry to hear that you had such a hard time doing the grocery shopping... I always take my hugabub when I go out, and if she is unsettled, I just pop her in there... it leaves me totally hands free then :)
Di- sounds like you had a great day!
Lucy - Did the projectile vommit get you?? Today, Olivia projectiled on me and the health nurse when she was getting measured, lol... Well, it wasn't funny at the time :) So envious of you going for a swim... I miss it! Oh, and envious of Jordan's 5 hours sleep! What a lucky mumma! Olivia has also found her hand, and attempt to suck it and the dummy, or it and the boobie. She is just dribbling everywhere, and blowing spit bubbles all the time. It is lovely and messy.
Georgia... No, I don't think you are feeding her too much!
Sue... poor thing :hugs: That would suck to be unable to drive, when you have 2 LO's.
Sare - great to hear that Lara is on the mend! Hopefully you don't get sick now.
It seems that Olivia is back to sleeping a 6 hour block at night. I am so glad, it was getting very tiring being up every 2-3 hours again!
I took her to the health nurse today.. she is gaining an average of 170g per week, and is just on the 60th percentile for her weight. Which is fine, and I am happy with it, but there seems to be such an emphasis placed on babies being healthier if they are big, or gaining lots, kwim? I also need to keep in mind that the weight charts are outdated and based on mostly ff babies. She is gaining, she is healthy etc. I had a woman yesterday ask me if she was premature
Regarding her reflux, I have started to give her a few teaspoons of thickened breast milk before a feed to see if it helps with the vomiting, and so far it has helped, but it is such a pain in the backside to do!
Okay, I probably should go to bed.. but it is just soooo hot here!
Pam, yes the projectile got me.. All down my leg. I then drank my coffee (as it has just arrived) and ate my scones (lunch!! not as god as the sandwiches we did!) with smelly vomit all over me!
And the person who asked if Olivia was premmie, must have bee the same person who asked me if this was Jordan's first Christmas!!!! Idiots. Olivia is gorgeous. She does not look premmie and don't take to heart any comments like that. If anyone does, just tell them that Jordan will be after them... with his thunder thighs!!! And yeah for the 6 hours.... Still about 4 1/2 max here trying though... How's the new house. Finished all the unpacking?
Di, you are lucky as well for Adam to be sleeping so well. I asked DH what he wanted for Christmas the other day and he replied a nights sleep from 8pm to 8am!!! We are both sleepers (don't know why I am here when I could be in bed!!! ). Jordan was back to his normal self today - cooing and gahing at the ceiling (makes you wonder what is going on in their heads!!) from first thing this morning. So funny to watch. When DH leaves for work at 6am I pop Jordan in with me.
Well speaking of sleep, I am going to get me some. Pam, you, Olivia and your DH are most welcome over for a swim any time!
Sleep vibes to everyone.... :wizard:

Morning everyone,
well :fingerscrossed: Nedd stays asleep for long enough for me to post personals- I wish my little angel coukd learn to sleep longer than 30mins at a time during the day!!!!
Sue :hugs: you poor thing re licence- that really sucks, it would be very stressful for you. And I agree with Sare- karma will hit that lady with full force, people like that make me so mad.
Oh and we are only getting Nedd a couple of little santa things to keep the family happy! Don't see the point when he has no idea anyway!!
Jealous of those who went to Robbie- Lucy I am allowed to have an affair with him too (well DF has resigned himself to the fact if it ever happened I wouldnt think twice!!)
I went to Kylie wed night- it was good, but not as great as I was hoping, I think personally she came back too soon- she was quite subdued, rather than her usual energetic over the top self.
Di- good luck with your trip over xmas- I don't envy you one little bit!
MummyG- Whenever I have had to buy a baptism gift I have usually gone with one of those pewter money boxes or the like, or a nice porcelien winnie the pooh musical thingy- something keepsakey like that.
Speaking of Parents rooms, how are they where you all shop? Our local shopping centre has one that is feral!! It is squashy, dirty, and they have one chair for feeding which is shoved in a corner behind a screen and makes me feel like it is a bad thing to be BF- getting hidden away from the world.
Well Nedd has been pretty good lately- we have barely had a day home over the last fortnight so his day routine is non existent, I am refusing to leave the house unless I ahve someone to watch him until xmas to try and resettle him.
Our trip to Sale went well- They drive down I left late arvo so NEdd slept the whole way, the trip home had to stop to feed and then to concole at one stage, plus copped peak hour traffic through melb so a four hour trip turned into a 6.5hr one.
I love catching up with my bro/sil, they are my best friends, we are super close and their kids are just gorgoeus. However my inlaws live there aswell, and it was going to be a good chance for them to see Nedd too, until they cracked the S**ts because I was staying with my bro instead of them- psychos!!! So they went out for the night when I was going to see them and are now not talking to us- I was so upset, she whinges all the time cause they are so far away from us and miss Nedd, then they pull a stunt like that. Grrrrr, as if I wouldn't have stayed with my family when it was just me going there. Different if Df was with me, but he wasn't- they are so selfish and competitive with my family.
ANyway thats my vent, it goes so much deeper than that but won't bore you all- could be here all day!!!!
Well must go, got SOOOO much housework to do, as if any got done while I was away- stupid men!!

PS- sorry for the epic post:o
Hi All
Kayley had her first Rotavirus vaccination today and she did really well. She is a bit grizzly but is asleep in the pram at the moment so will see how the day goes!
Well Kayley has been OK shopping most of the time with just short trips in between feeds - I havent tried a parents room yet. She did throw up her whole stomach in target the other day and was grizzly so I left early another day bit the rest of the time she has been good so far. As for grocery shopping, I have been using Coles Online - its great. Hasnt got as big of a selection as the store but you can get it all delivered within a 4 hour period for $7.95 which is well worth it. DH is happy as otherwise I would be sending him on the weekend!
Sue - sorry to here about the licence thing - it must be really hard. Do you have anyone who can help you for the 3 months??
Jealous of those having good sleeps - I am starting to get used to surviving on less sleep but will be nice when she starts to sleep through - she is just a little hungry bugger!
Well Kayley does do the fist thing too - tries to get the whole thing in there!!She is also starting to drool and blow bubbles. I am not using a dummy so I guess her hand replaces that need! Have been playing with her between feeds and she is starting to grab for her toys (a bit unco buut trying) which is sooo cute!!
Anyway I better run, all the best for all of you over the weekend.
My little princess is having a mini nap - its too hot for a long one i think. I've been squirting her (while awake) with a water bottle on mist and she shudders each time. I'm terribly mean, because I laugh my head off each time.
There is an air con in the bedroom but i cant turn it on as its full of black spot mould and I really dont think that would be good for baby's brand new lungs. I'm seriously considering giving my new real estate a notice to remedy breach for this and a few other things, as they wont talk to me or get them done. I've escalated it to the branch manager and still nothing. 2 weeks is a bit long to think about fixing sealed windows and a toxic air con in this heat if you ask me!
I'm spending the day waiting. Waiting for the cable guy to give me broadband, waiting for the courier to bring my wireless router, and waiting for some roses to arrive (from me, with love), and waiting for it to cool down. Oh and waiting for Robbie Williams to stop by and ask for directions to his hotel room, which i will of course offer to show him in person.
Suemp thats really cruddy about your license. I would be going mental without the option of going out when I wanted. Maybe you have a learner neighbour who would be delighted to taxi you around?
Re parents rooms - overall i have been impressed with them. I do question their choice of chairs at times though, its like they bought them for appearance rather than function. At places where there is no parents room or its just not viable to lock myself away, i get out the boobie and let Abbey have it wherever. Eg, while finalising my furniture purchase, i stood behind the male clerk and fed her. Then we had to walk back through the store to the main desk - so i did. With my shirt up exposing my stretch marks and elastic waist pants and baby happily drinking. Poor staff I was dealing with weren't quite sure what to do. I'm dead stylish.
Wow, long post. You can tell I've spent too long today in waiting mode.
just a quicky
kane is 8 weeks on monday. at this age could your bubbas support their own head when you have them propped up at your shoulder?
Abbey could support her own head most of the time from week 4 really. She kind of had to, too many siblings playing rough! She is 9 weeks now and only gets wobbly when she's tired or trying to look in too many directions at once.
She's pretty bad at lifting her head at tummy time tho, different muscles in use I think. Or maybe its just that she can't suck her hand if she lifts it too far up.
Yep, still waiting. My roses wont come until Monday, and who knows where my router is. Has anyone else noticed that overnight couriers are actually slower than Auspost?
If Kane isn't holding his head up yet, take heart that you're getting lots of snuggles while he is there!

Hi everyone, gee you are all so talkative - I had loads to catch up on.
Sue- that's a real bummer about your licence, and I gasped when I read that that woman just drove off - what a cheek! She'll get hers one day. Logan keeps his head up for a while on my shoulder (he's 9 weeks now) but he loses control and bangs himself all the time, I'm scared he'll hurt himself or me one of these days as he's definately getting stronger.
Welcome Linda - it's great to have somewhere to vent that no-one knows about -does that make sense? I can say what I like in here and I know that no-one that I know personally will know anything about it - as you are all so good at keeping secrets ;) :fingerscrossed: - Like for example, my sil is an abolute b*tch and I can't stand her. I couldn't say this in the real world, but in here I can say it and I know that she'll never find out!! And believe me ladies, that made me feel a whole lot better as I've been dying to say that for weeks!!
m_jelly - that's rotten about your house. You're right, don't think the spores would do you or Abbey any good - you'd think the real estate would move a bit faster. Good on ya for walking through the shop with your boob out! I get the distinct impression that hubby does not like me having my boob out in public! Doesn't bother me as I'll never see the people again, but he get's kinda fidgitey (sp?!). Ah well.
Rian - good luck on the move, hope it went well.
Teresa - Well done on having more visitors from the UK, I'm just getting used to the peace and quiet since they all left and you've got another lot arriving. Hats off to you!
The wee man is doing great. Had his jabs on Weds and he seems OK, had a monster poo this morning, but appart from that he seems OK. He's still sleeping 6 hours at night, but I'm greedy and I'm looking for 8 - I don't think it's going to happen for a while as when he wakes you'd think he hadn't fed for weeks!! My boobs are different sizes as well, and I'm sorry to say that they stay different sizes - even after you stop breastfeeding. My left boob is always bigger now since BFing DD1.
Take care everyone and I hope you have a lovely weekend. Marion.:xmas:

Hi all, don't know where to start with personals, so much has been going on...
Sue - Isabella has been holding her head up since she was about 4 weeks too :yelclap: , but occasionally she will forget to hold herself and 'flop' over.
Question - does anyone else's little muchkin really protest at tummy time? Isabella will tolerate it only for a minute or two and then starts to whinge. Perhaps it has something to do with the reflux? Any suggestions??
DP and I have decided that I'll stop taking the min-pill. I've been really snappy, and I'm sure its affecting my milk supply. He isn't overly impressed with the new arrangement, lol!
Hope everyone is getting some great sleep!
Kristin B
hi all, just a quick one as i am feeling crappy :gloomy: (I got the stomach bug last night!!!)
A qn to all of you who are b/fing... what age did your bubs stopping pooing during or after every feed? And did it distress them when they decreased their amount of bowel movements? Lara is 6 weeks on Mon and I can't remember it being so early for Eloise. She's passing the smelliest wind and is screaming when she does. I know that it's unlikely that she's consipated because she's b/f, but I don't like seeing her in pain.
I'll pop back on for personals later in the weekend when I'm feeling better.
Take care

Sare- Can't specifically tell you when Nedd stopped pooing as such as he had chronic diarhereoa (sp?) due to milk protein allergy, however now that that is under control he only goes every few days (from 7wks) and he also does the stinkiest farts- usually when I am feeding him so I bear the full brunt of it (feel like he is cottoning on to dutch ovens already!!)
Kristin- Nedd hates tummy time too- he starts grizzling after a min or two, the mchn suggested it was he can't hold his head up enough so can't see whats going on (he is a sticky beak), but of course the only way he will hold his head up longer is to have tummy time so it is a matter of persisting- more frequently quick stints.
Just a quick one as I have to pack the bags ready for an entire day tomorrow with a family Christmas Party
Sare, I just recieved an e-mail with the gorgeous face of Eloise! (I got it from Coles Baby Club)
In regards to tummy time, Jordan sometimes tolerates it for about a minute or two, but he has been holding his head up for about 6 weeks now, so the time he is missing on his belly he is making up by looking around. I wouldn't be too concerned about it. I never had tummy yime as a bub and I am fine!!!
Hope you have a good weekend.

what age did your bubs stopping pooing during or after every feed? And did it distress them when they decreased their amount of bowel movements?
Sare - Isabella stopped pooing after every feed at about 8-9 weeks, and now at 10 weeks it still seems to bother her a little bit but its getting better. Its kind of like she has bad lower wind but then once she finally goes she is a happy little noodle again! :yelclap:
Sare - This happened with DS2. He was still breastfeeding too. It didn't seem to distress him any more than normal, but his wind smelt just horrible!! From memory, I went to the chemist and got some drops just to help him along. Oh, I got the Coles baby email too, and saw Eloise once again!!
Well, we have DS2's birthday today!! happybirthday He is 2 today!! We are having a family party for lunch. It's all a bit exciting here today, but my goodness, the arguments we have had already because DS2 has presents and DS1 doesn't....it's driving me insane!
I have a heap to do this morning, so better keep moving! Have a good weekend.
Morning all
happybirthday to your little one Sare. Hope you have a good day.
RE Tummy time: I think Adam must be the odd one out. He'll happily lay there for up to 10 minutes watching the world go by....provided he is in the mood to be on the floor. I will admit he has to be naked to really enjoy it. Maybe he likes the feel of his mink blanket on his old fella
We had needles yesterday. He wasn't too bad but DH seemed to object when the nurse gave him to me to feed. He wanted to be the one to comfort him. I tell you some days they really are big babies themselves.... Adam was a little off and cranky until bedtime. But he slept ok. He was hungry than usual and fed basically from midnight until 3 non stop.( maybe it was comfort again). But then he is still asleep now so i can't complain.
Having our own little Christmas today as we will be away and wanted to share our first chrissy as a family. Seems a lot of work for 6 people but its worth it. The kids will all get their pressies today as we leave Thursday.
Well enough dribble from me, have a good day all.
Morning all! Had a wee sleep-in for the first time in yonks today because DH wasn't working :yelclap: so I fed Jet at 6.30 and told DH to take him away from me for 2 hours and let me sleep! LOL. I think it was only fair since I was the last to bed last night then up at 12.15 and 4.15am (DH is meant to get up and do a nappy change then bring bub to me for a feed at night - but lately he's been putting his pillow over his head! and later says 'oh sorry I couldn't hear him' GRR)
Jet's night sleeping has been a bit erratic since his needles on Tues, been harder to get to bed/ going to bed later at night, and then waking and feeding a lot more often. I hope he settles back into his previous 5-6 hour sleeps routine soon, I am one TIRED mumma!
Oh BTW I discovered the 'Sounds For Silence' CD and book and it does wonders for settling him for his naps in the day. Highly recommended for anyone having issues with daysleeps (or night sleeps for that matter).
happybirthday to Sarah's DS2 hope he has a lovely day and that the party goes well!
Re: head holding. Jet's had a very strong neck since birth and has been holding his head since the early weeks, although he still gets the wobbles and headbutts me if he's tired or trying to look at too many things. His head tends to drop forwards rather than backwards IYKWIM.
Re: tummy time. He's pretty good at lifting right up but only puts up with it for a while then gets bored I think, he prefers to suck his fist LOL. If he's tired or frustrated he'll grizzle. I do TT on my chest too - I lay back on the couch and put him on his belly on my chest and he seems to enjoy that a lot more and will do it for longer, maybe because of the interaction and being close to me, so maybe you guys could try that instead?
re: poos - for at least a month now Jet only poos once a day on average (sometimes twice), and often goes a couple of days without pooing at all. It's great for me since I'm using cloth nappies LOL. I'm told that this is perfectly normal and 'it wouldn't be bothering him' but I'm not so sure, maybe it contributes to his crankiness, and his grunting and farting in the mornings! He's like this no matter if I'm topping him up with more ABM or 100% breastfed (I've experimented). On the days he has more ABM topups his poos and farts smell a lot worse and his poo is a lot less runny and 'stickier' IYKWIM.
Sare - hope you feel better soon! :hugs:
Hi All
Kimba - Kayley has been a bit grizzly since Rotavirus vaccination yesterday wanting a feed every 2.5 hours (including overnight) - she wouldnt go back to sleep in her cot after 3am feed so I am pretty tired today!!
Well to contribute with some of the topics...
Poos - Kayley stopped going afte each feed at 5 weeks. She usually stores it up for one big one every day - often going through nappy and everything ( and thats huggies disposables!). she does seem to get a bit of pain in her tummy which is usualy relieved by a big smelly fart!
Kayley had a strong neck since birth and can control her head most of the time from pretty early. Kimba she is exactly the same as Jet falling forward if anything!
Tummy time - Kayley doesnt last too long - sometimes up to around 5 minutes. We usually do it on the couch too. She starts to move her legs and tries to move but doesnt get far and she gets very frustrated - then I have to get her up - once she works it out she may be an early crawler - when are they supposed to start???
Anyway - time to go. Hope you all have a good weekend - can you believe it is only a week to xmas????
Hi All. We Have Moved Now But Still Staying With My Sis Til Our House Is Ready Next Week.

Hi all,
Feeling much better here today. The bout of gastro has worked wonders for my weight loss, almost 4 kg in 2 days, it's a pity most of it will go back on when I start eating again.
Thanks for all you advice re:poos, you all help me feel so much more reassured about things  . Pretty much as soon as I posted that last night, Lara decided that it was time for a poo. Now this is probably going to be way TMI (but then again maybe not considering poos and vomit etc are all part of a new mum's conversation) it was of a thick paste consistency, sort of a mustardy yellow colour and there was heaps of it... is this normal? She was much happier for a while, but for the last few nights she has been really unsettled, like she was when we first brought her home. I think it may be the after effects of the gastro. Got an appointment with the MCHN on Monday, so I'll speak to her about it all.
Sarah - happybirthday to your DS. I hope you all enjoy the party.
Lucy - I got that e-mail too. It was pretty weird to receive it and unexpectedly see Eloise's face on it. I hope you have a great time at your family Christmas today.
Di - Hope you enjoy your family Christmas today too. Are you all ready for the big trip???
Rian - Glad the move went well. It sounds like you are well and truly ready for Christmas now.
Kimba - :smiliedance: on the sleep-in. I bet you are feeling like a new woman.
m_jelly - I love your new avatar. It really caught my eye. So cute. Good luck with real estate agent.
Sue - Lara is still pretty wobbly when she's up on my shoulder, she holds her head up, but sort of thrashes about a bit.
re: tummy time. Lara handles a few minutes at a time ok, but gets a bit grizzly after that. She's got pretty strong neck muscles, but we noticed that straight after her birth. My MCHN said that tummy time can be when they are lying on you too, Lara gets more of this than tummy time on the floor (we love our cuddles). One time when she is more than happy to be on her tummy is when one of us gives her a massage after bath time, she will lie on her tummy for ages.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Hi Chicks,
Sare - sorry you've been feeling sick, I hope you feel better soon. That poo sounded pretty normal to me for a bf baby.
Beck - It sounds like Kayley will crawl early. Sophia HATES tummy time so I feel like a bit of a mena mummy doing it.
Rian - Welcome back I'm glad to hear your move went well - did you move far?
Di - I hope you enjoy your family Christmas, mine is tomorrow as we are going to in laws for Christmas (which still doesn't feel like christmas because it's not my family)
Kimba - Nice work on the sleep in. Maybe you should pull the pillow and give dh a swift kick in the shins so he can help you out a bit more. My dh always sleeps through noctural crying. I'm not upset about that as I was always planning to do it myself and have had no expectations so therefore I can't be let down!
happybirthday to your ds2 I hope you have a great day Sarah
Lucy - Hope your Christmas day goes well tomorrow also. It does require some thought, the old packing. We are going away for a week to nz and dread to think of the luggage we will take!
Sophia is only pooing once a week now and that changed around 6 -7 weeks. It made a huge difference to her moods as she used ton get very unsettled when she pooed (which was around 10 times a day) Sophias farts smell appalling as well and she can get a bit ratty with wind.
I went to a pilates class this morning which was lovely and left Sophia with dh. It is so nice to have a bit of time to yourself. I also get to take the fast car when i'm by myself rather than family mobile which is fun :shame:
I hope everyone is having a great weekend:smiliedance:

Hi Girls,
Georgia- nice work on the pilates, I am meant to be getting back into the gym but it is so hard to find the time to leave Nedd at home!
Sare- the consistancy of Lara's poo is exactly the same as Nedds- and isn't it amazing how much there is, I have even got the bath out a couple of times cause he is cover from knees to naval!
Rian- Glad to hear the move went well- sounds like you are well on the way to your new life!!! What a year 2007 is going to be for you and your family.
Kimba- good on you for the sleep in, I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago and Nedd screamed for DF for an hour straight- I knew he was fed so I put the pillow over my head- suffice to say DF wasn't too impressed when I finally got up- tough luck I say- welcome to my world!!!!!
Di- Hope you had an awesome xmas today with your family- bet the kids were pretty happy to be getting their pressies a week early!
Sarah, happy birthday to your ds2, hope the day went well.
I got all my xmas shopping finished today:smiliedance: , such a nice feeling!
Though my mum is the most unorganised person in the world and having just shifted she is in a disarray for xmas- and we are having everyone to her house so I daresay next week will be spent getting her sorted!!
Nedd has been great today, does anyone else find that if you have a snuggle in the arvo with your little one they will sleep for hours? Nedd and I often have a nap together- he sleeps so well when he is on the bed with me, I just cant transfer that enthusiasm for sleep to his bassnett:banghead: which is frustrating when you have a million things to do!
Kimba I am thinking Nedd might have to buy that CD for mummy and daddy for christmas- I will try anything to promote more sleep through the day!
Well thats all from me.
Hey All,
Early Xmas went really well. We made the kids wait until 10.30 to open their presents. Had the full Chrissy lunch and ate too much, made too many dishes, looked at the presents and decided I spent way too much lol. Just what its all about. It was lovely though.
My darling 15 year old made menus and place cards up and decorated the table before she went to bed last night. She is amazing how she can just 'do' things that look great. We got a beautiful card from the kids telling us how much we mean to them and thanking us for Adam. Also how much they love us...that was sweet.
Adam was a little treasure. He is so much better than he was yesterday...but I guess if I had 3 needles jabbed in my legs I might not be a happy camper either. We took his bandaids off and I think he might be like Hayley (14)..allergic to bandaids. I'll see how they look tomorrow.
Went and bought him a little outfit for his Christening today. It's pants, shirt and a waistcoat ( tried it on him as soon as we got home...pretty cute.) Now DP thinks he should have a suit too. Ha ha ha I thought he would go in his shorts, that's his idea of dressed up...but he is seriously talking about looking into suits. I'm a little worried as he has been nagging since we found out I was pregnant about getting married. He even wanted to combine it with the Christening. I told him I won't do it. As much as I love him I have been there and done that. I don't think I will ever marry again. Living in sin works just as well.... . Bit hard to explain but that's how it is...
Well I have dribbled on long enough tonight. Hope all mummies, babies, daddies, brothers and sisters are well and had a good day:reindeer:
Argh I just typed out a post and my stupid bl@@dy cat jumped on the keyboard and deleted it! :shame:
Jet was so good yesterday, really happy and talky and he slept a total of 6 hours worth of naps during the day, then 5+4 hours last night :smiliedance:. I'm LOVING the sleeping: he's already had one nap today and just went down without a fight for another one. It's fabulous, but unusual for him to sleep so easily or so much in the day. I wonder if it's a growth spurt? Or maybe he's finally acting like a 'normal' baby LOL, they say 5-6 hours daysleep is average for his age!
He's getting so big, he's gained 1.8kg and grown 10cm in length since birth :yelclap: I wonder if he'll hit the 6kg mark by Christmas?
di - your Xmas sounds great and your kids sound wonderful! That card was really sweet.
sal - you can get the CD from Target or also online (http://www.soundsforsilence.com.au/) the book that comes with it is pretty good too. Jet doesn't sleep so well when he sleeps with me - he gets really restless and starts kicking and grunting.
georgia - yeah I've been giving DH a swift kick  but DH is SO SLOW at nappy changes so Jet ends up wide awake and crying by the time I get him on the boob, and it's harder to settle him back to sleep. So I figure it's better if I do it myself. (It irks me that DH can't just get up and do a quick change, without getting bub all worked up!)
Sare - glad you're feeling better. That poo sounds just like Jet's daily poo-nami. Bright yellow and thick and lots of it!
rian - well done on the move hope you settle in well!
beck - hope Kayley is doing better now after her vaccinations. I didn't even realise that maybe the Rotarix might have unsettled Jet, I just blamed the needles! He's much better now though.
hope everyone is having a good weekend I can't believe it's Christmas next weekend! I've been playing my Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby Christmas CD all weekend LOL...
Has anyone ever gotten up to feed baby in the small hours, got her settled back in her cot, and then accidentally let one rip really noisily right next to her which wakes her up and then you can't get her back to sleep and its all because you've been drinking iced coffee even though you know it gives both of you wind and you shouldn't go near it? No, me either....

LMAO! That's made my morning!
We're off to the doc now to get the Rota-virus (or whatever its called) immunisation. Has anyones bub's had a reaction to it?

 That's a scream... just what I needed when dd1 is driving me INSANE :banghead: .

 ah you're a crackup! Not me, but my baby regularly lets 'em rip first thing in the morning as he's waking up, it's like a bugle salute at dawn. Better than an alarm clock! LOL
KristinB - Jet had Rotarix on Tuesday when he got his other jabs, and apart from a couple of huge smelly poos the next day  he didn't seem to react. He was a bit erratic with his sleeping at night for a few days, but that could have been from the Rotarix, or his needles, or just a growth spurt, it's hard to know!

hi chicks,
one handed due to small person attached to boob.
Kimba - those sleeps sound good. I hope you got some rest at the same time. Are you going to your family for Christmas?
Kristin - Good luck with the needles. Sophia was fine after them. The only prob was the tape on the cotton wool bud was very hard to get off and made sophia very upset, I even did it in the bath:mad:
Di - your children sound so gorgeous and your dp. I can understand your feelings about marriage but it is lovely he wants to make that commitment. Have you ever thought about a commitment ceremony. My parents did that, just the two of them in a special place and made promises to each other etc which meant alot to them.
We had a lovely Christmas yesterday with my family and everyone behaved:confused: and Sophia was passed around everyone and was very sweet.
Hope you're all having a good day.
Georgia
Georgia - glad your family Christmas was good yesterday! Isn't it amazing how bubs seem to behave like angels  all day when they're around everyone else.
Yep we're going down the coast for 4 days :reindeer: can't wait as I'll get a bit of a break, there'll be so many pairs of doting hands wanting to look after bub! It will be interesting to see how Jet handles it - I just hope it doesn't throw out his sleeping now that it's just starting to come good again! :fingerscrossed: last time he was unsettled from the different environment and all the new attention. But he's a month older now, so maybe it won't disrupt him as much. I hope...
What's with these nurses sticking bandaids and tape on your bubs after their needles? Poor little things. Our nurse was good, she just stuck cotton wool balls on and tucked them under the edges of his nappy cover, no tape needed... wouldn't have liked to have pulled it off him!
Hi All
I recall that someone mentioned that they had just got the Sounds for Silence baby CD which was working well for their little one. I also got that CD and wasn't real impressed with it. However I did just purchase another one which is great and I thought I would let you all know - it is normal soothing music which I also enjoy listening to (unlike the washing machine noises on the sounds for silence).
babyclassics.com.au - has a listing for "Music for dreaming CD for Baby with Bonus Christmas CD" under the Music CD section. My little Jayden really enjoys this one to settle to at night.
A quick question - Jayden is now 7 weeks old and I was a little surprised to have my period back. I thought that by full time BF it would delay that coming back. Anyone else have this? Also (TMI warning) when can I start using tampons again? I recall the OB said not to a while ago but I don't know when I can - any advice?
I feel like a terrible mummy :crying:
I had my work Christmas party at midday on Friday and ended up heading back to my boss's place and drinking so much I was terribly hungover all day Saturday. Over 12 hours I only ate a light lunch, didn't drink any water and forgot about dinner completely :banghead: . Poor Sam was very fussy yesterday and wouldn't let go of me. He missed his mummy after not really seeing me for 24 hours! And I missed him so much it made me really upset that I couldn't look after him. Never again. On the plus side, DH now has an appreciation of how hard being the primary carer really is.
No personals because the house looks like a bomb hit it and I need to get it cleaned up while Sam is having a sleepy day!
Advice though - DO NOT forget we haven't had more than a couple of wines for almost 12 months and remember my example for your own parties! :tree:

Hi all,
nothing too esciting happening here!
Went and got waxed from head to toe today- very exciting, I actually feel like a woman again.
Left Nedd with my dad- came home and he was asleep on his activity mat on the floor:rolleyes: he never sleeps for me during the day- yet with his Pa he'll sleep anywhere it wold seem!!!
Di glad to hear your xmas went well, your kids aound so sweet- you must be very proud of them.
Kimba- you lucky thing :fingerscrossed: Jet continues on his great sleeping path, isn't it great when things all start to fall into place.
Juz- My gp told me that your period should only return if you aren't doing a night time feed, but my SIL just fell pregnant and she was still feeding through the night (her LO was 6mnths)- so I figure it maybe a bit different for some?
Well just aa quickie from me I have so much house work to do- and later and going to the GYM :smiliedance: very excited to be getting back into structured exercise.
Take care all :)

Jen, you poor thing!!!:hugs:
On the plus side isn't it a humbling and amazing feeling to be SO loved by one little person that they miss you like crazy..........If there is one thing I love more than anything else about being a mum it is the feeling that when bub is upset the only person who they want to be with in the whole world is you.:wizard: It is pretty amazing.
Thanks Sal but I just felt this enormous amount of guilt and heartache that I let him down :crying: I know what you mean though and the experience has made me a better mum! Now I understand that he really does need his mummy as sometimes daddy doesn't cut it!
di came over for a bbq on sunday and your right she does have a lovely family. the little boys got along well despite the age gap (5 and 11) and the big boys got along too (hubbies)
speaking of bad mums we went to a party on sat. it was all day and for dp (all night) anyway we kept kane in his pram during the day and it was overcast so you couldnt see where the shade should of been so his cheek got sunburnt . it wasnt much but the next day it blistered . gotta go prince charming is sookin
Hey all
Thanks....my kids are pretty good value, although I could murder my girls tonight. Think it's that time of the month for both of them.....arghhhhhhhhh 2 at once is not good!!!!!
Thank you Sue for a lovely day on Sunday. We had a great time...Kane's face might just need some extra moisturiser until it settles down.
Gee has Adam been a mummies boy today. I can't get him to sleep unless I am nursing him (he is in bedroom screaming at DH who is determined to get him to sleep). He won't take the bottle or his dummy. He is so tired... I think he has had probably 1 1/2 hours if that all day (since 7.30 when I got up)...not sure what the go is. Wish I could just sit and nurse him all day but we go away in 2 days and still trying to organize Christening for when we're back so it's a little hectic.
Ffrom memory once you have your 6 week check up you're right to use tampons again if you are comfortable to do that ( I figure is sex is allowed a tampon can't be that bad LOL).
I am hoping mine don't come back to haunt me just yet. Adam will be 9 weeks Thursday and so far so good
Well I better go as the screaming is breaking my heart....
Hi guys, sorry its been like a months since weve made it onto the site. Danas been ill, first it was her liver and now she has a herina in her belly and well i havent been coping so making it to the computer or even the front door has been almost impossible. its all looking good now and shes up to 4.2kgs so we are happy, she does however sleep for 8 hours stright so i wont complain there.. ill be back on tomo as im trying to regain some sense of normallty before xmas.
Good morning girls,
No one is a bd mother... no matter what happens especially all you ladies in this site. I think everyone here has shown just how much they love their kids - well most of the time anyway!! LOL.
Going to do the finals of my Christmas shopping today. Not looking forward to it. I am up and dressed ready to drop Jordan off at Grandmas and today is the day he is trying for a record sleep - so far 9 1/2 hours! I have been watchig him over the past few nights and have discovered that at 3am when he wakes if I put his dummy back in again he will fall back to sleep. I used to get him up for a feed. Now he seems to sleep longer (just need that invention that sticks the dummy back in his mouth Pam!). I don't know if that is not right or not but figure if he is really hungry he would not go straight back to sleep. :fingerscrossed: he will be able to put his dummy back in hi smouth shortly!
Nitty, :hugs: to you and your family. I am glad to hear Dana is getting back on track.
Well I had better go, as I will try to start to wake Jordan as I want to get to the shops early.
Chat soon

Good morning all
Well my little munchknin has decided after weeks of sleeping through to wake up twice last night - what acomplete shock to the system, I'm a walking zombie this morning! Perhaps its a growth spurt... :fingerscrossed:
Nitty, we haven't met before, but I'm so happy for you that little Dana is on the road to recovery.:yelclap: Must have been sooo scary for you, I'm a mess if Isabella scratches herself badly.
Di - May the force be with you! 2 teenage girls cycling at the same time - that must be one hell of a minefield in your home!
JuzP - my obst suggested waiting 3 months and then when you feel comfortable enough inserting. She did suggest a little KY on the tip tho.
Take care all
KristinB
Morning all, could Lesley and mumto2cheekyboys ( i know its a different name now, just couldnt remember)(sarah) please pm me your address' again as they have been misplaced. Apologies if the gifts arnt there by xmas :(
Hey All
Well I didnt get a chance to get on yesterday. We went to Big W - Kayley cried all the way in the car then once we had been in the shops for about 20 minutes she threw up everything - I am surprised that much fits in her stomach. It was terrible to watch. Now this has happened a few times now so I think she is getting carsick. I have an 8 hoour drive (plus stops) on Saturday - aaarrgghh - anyone have any suggestions??
Anyway - when we got home Kayley was grizzly and hungry all afternoon so I had no choice but to walk around singing nursery rhymesall arvo and evertime I got near to he computer the screams started again!! Good thing was we had 5.5 hours and 3.5 hours between feeds last night. She even went back to sleep for an hour at 5.30am - yay!
Kristen - Kayley had Rotateq last week and was a bit grizzly for a couple of days but that was it. We have the needles today - not looking forward to it!
JuzP - I have that CD too and it has calmed Kayley a few times.
Anyway - I am sick of one handed typing (I am really hoping this swing we are getting for xmas is a success as I only get Kayley down during the day every couple of days at the moment).
Thanks Sal but I just felt this enormous amount of guilt and heartache that I let him down :crying: I know what you mean though and the experience has made me a better mum! Now I understand that he really does need his mummy as sometimes daddy doesn't cut it!
Argh now I REALLY don't want to go back to full time work in a couple of months :gloomy:
nitty - sorry to hear Dana has been so unwell, the poor little poppet! Hope that she's much better now and well done on her weight gain!
Lucy - I've been trying the same thing - popping the dummy in Jet's mouth when he starts to stir to see if it sends him back off. I feel a bit guilty about it but I figure the only reason he 'needs' to wake is if he's hungry, and if he was really hungry he'd spit the dummy and cry! so if the dummy helps soothe him back into a new sleep cycle, maybe he isn't actually hungry, so maybe it's not so bad...
Mind you I also feel guilty about putting him down to sleep so much during the day (now that I've figured out how to do it!) I have to remind myself that it's not just for my benefit to get things done, it's also good for him!
beck75 - I used to have the same problem with Jet not sleeping in the day but now he's really good, I think it's a combination of his age and the new settling technique I'm trying. Good luck finding something that works for Kayley!
On the subject of sleeping, how often are your bubs usually awake for, between daily naps? The EC nurse told us that bub's Jets age should be awake for about an hour and a half (including feed, change & play) between naps - but Jet seems to get tired/ cranky/ overstimulated within only about 1 hour? then he'll sleep for about an hour, then want another feed and the cycle starts again. Maybe he's just enjoying his sleep now that he's getting some? Or maybe it's a growth spurt?

Hi girls, typing one handed again
Lucy- i have been popping nedds dummy back in at 3am too, and three nights running now he has slept through till 5.30am, i worry if its the right thing to do too, but also figure if he was really hungry the dummy wouldn't cut it! Hopefully he will get into his own routine after a few more nights!:fingerscrossed:
Nedd had the hugest chuck up last night it was so heartbreaking to watch....I fed him formula, so not sure if thats what did it, or if his silent reflux is turning into proper reflux.
I am stressing a bit bout his feeding at the moment. He just doesn't seem quite right the last few days, not so happy whilst at the boob and pulling off a few times screaming, and whilst he certianly doesn't seem hungry my boobs din't feel as full as usual so I am worried my supply is dwindling- just a gut instinct something isnt quite clicking....Have an app with mchn tomorrow so will chat to her then, and wiegh him.
Well feed time here so will be back later for more personals.
Oh and great to see you back Nitty- glad to hear Dana i doing much better, you poor chook, must have been a stressful time.:hugs:

Ok Kimba..........whats your secret, I'd pay big bucks to get nedd sleeping more than 30mins during the day at the moment:D , I am getting VERY frustrated!!!!!!!
He settles no probs........then wakes after his twenty min sleep cycle........I can get thim to doze for a bit by patting his back etc, but the minute I stop he is wide awake:banghead:
I am going today to buy that CD as a xmas pressie from Nedd to us!
Hi all,
Another tired mummy here...the after effects of the gastro and getting up to everyone over the week plus one very unsettled bubs, has finally taken its toll. I've started going to bed around 9 to get some sleep before Lara wakes up (I used to wake her for a feed at 10.30ish and she would often not settle until 2 or 3am). For the last 2 nights, she's had a feed around 7.30 and slept until 2am, had a quick feed and then slept through until about 6.30. Hopefully she does it again tonight, because I've heard that 3 times in a row for a baby is a habit :fingerscrossed:
Lara had her 6wk check up yesterday. She put on 330g in 2 weeks, which isn't a huge amount, but considering she had gastro she's done well. The MCHN couldn't find the click in her hip that she discovered at her 4wk check up, which was a relief as our 6 month old niece has been in a brace for almost 3 months due to hip dysplacia (sp?) and it apparently can be genetic.
Nitty - Glad to see you back. It must have been a terrible time for you, but at least all is well for Dana's first Christmas.
Sal - Good luck with the MCHN tomorrow. Nedd sounds a little like Eloise was with b/f, it turns out that I had a really fast flow and she couldn't cope with it. Once she learnt to cope with it, everything was fine.
Beck - Poor Kayley (and poor you). I don't have any ideas about coping with carsickness, maybe speak to your MCHN and see what s/he says. :fingerscrossed: Kayley copes with your big drive on the weekend.
Kimba - Lara varies with her awake times. Sometimes it's about 40 mins (feed) and goes straight back to sleep, but more often than not she's awake for 1.5 -2hrs including a feed. There's definitely no pattern to this child
Kristin B - I hope Isabella sleeps well for you tonight.
Lucy - I hope your shopping went well. I finished off all the little nick-nack things today too. I don't think that there's anything wrong with you popping Jordan's dummy in at 3am. Like you say, he'd keep on crying if he were really hungry.
Sue - Eloise got a touch of sunburn today too. I'm sure that DH will have a go at me when he sees it. I hope Kane's doing okay with it.
I hope everyone else is doing well. Time to go and organise something for dinner.
Hey all
Sorry to hear a few of you are having little troubles with your bubs.
Adam is a nut when it comes to awake time. Most days he only naps for 20 minutes tops and can be awake for 1-2 hours with no problems. That's not including feeds. He will sleep in car on the way somewhere but once we're there that's it. I think he is going to be a nosy little bugger. But I do love him so
Today he did go back when he got up this morning. He normally feeds at 6 and that's it, we are up for the day. But today he ate and then slept until 10.30. I had so much to do before we go away it was great. Got whole house cleaned.
Okie, hope everyone is soon feeling better. I am going to feel like I've lost a friend when we head off Thursday morning. I won't be in touch for over a week...imagine what I'll have to catch up on....................
Any news on Ryley???
we had a normalish day today if u can call shopping 6 days before xmas normal. I feel bad as i only got dana one little thing and wrapped it in really brite paper where as the 4yo has alot.
Sal, i hear what u mean about thinking your not making enough milk. danas been trying to feed non stop but seems unsatisfed half the time. my breasts feel floppy execpt first thing in the mornings. nappies are fine though. wish they had gauges or something.
shes feeding again so i better go into the bedroom and get her down. at least she knows the feed, shower, feed bed strat now.

Hi everyone
Well in between visitors again, need a rest!!! next lot due xmas eve, looking forward to it though, having my brother here for xmas then we have booked to fly to UK in Jan to take Harry back to meet the rest of the family, fingers crossed he behaves himself on the plane!!
Marion - yes its been hectic with them all coming and going
Nitty - welcome back, sorry to hear about Dana, Harry had hernia op when he was 4 weeks old but recovered quickly and doing well now
Di - know what you mean about missing it on here, had so much to read to catch up then I forget what I was going to say, have a great trip
Sare - so you did get it in the end, yuk, hope you are all on the mend now, fab that Lara is going through nearly and yes once they do it a few times then that should be pretty much it, Harry has been going through for 2 weeks now so I would be a shattered if he started waking again as got used to my sleep again
Sal - thats good if Nedd is only waking for his dummy, was told that if they are putting on weight then no reason why they need night feed if not waking for it
Off on the santa train tomorrow with both ds's into the city and then finish off xmas shopping, done alot of the food shop today and have only the fresh stuff to get at weekend, I hate food shopping esp with a baby and 5 yr old in tow, wish we had homeshop here in WA like you do in other states!!
Catch up later
Teresa
My baby actually slept until 6:30 this morning! :smiliedance: A quick feed at 3 and then straight back to bed. I got 6 hours sleep IN A ROW and then another 3 hours. I feel like a normal person again:laughing: I was so tired and stressed with Sam yesterday that I felt like crying. It's funny how they seem to push you to your limits then sleep heaps to let you catch up a bit. The little dear is asleep again now, thank goodness.
Sam seems to be going through a huge growth spurt. I think he'll be into 0's before long! Some of his 00's are already getting snug on him. I just cannot believe how quickly they grow.
Teresa - Does Coles offer it there instead? I looooove Homeshop but can't do it at the moment because you do pay a bit more for things and I am on half pay.
nitty - I only got Sam something small too - they'll probably be more interested in the paper anyway!
di - Sam is the same during the day and by the afternoon he is so tired that he gets really cranky. I might look into that CD....
sare - How are you feeling today? I hope you get some rest before Christmas.
I was naughty last night and let Sam open his Secret Santa pressie...THANKS SO MUCH! The very hungry caterpillar is a book both DH and I loved as kids and I am so pleased with it. We read it last night before bed.
Back down to 63kg and into my favourite jeans! :smiliedance: :smiliedance: :smiliedance: Had to tell someone because DH said "Yeah - you look good." Wow - how's that for massive encouragement?!
Check this link out if you have some spare time. (link to Sam lauging at mummy):

wow. sam must be doing really well to be outgrowing oo's Danas outgrowing her 0000's. and Great work on your weight lose. :smiliedance: :smiliedance: :smiliedance:
i bought a skirt when i was pregnant and it fell off on the weekend although im still not game enough to weigh myself. Dana sleeps 6-7 hours then 2 more, ive rigged it so she goes to bed about 9.30 and normally the sun is up when she wakes up and i feel like i have avery normal night even if it is 4 am.
Hi all,
Didn't have such a great day with Jarvis yesterday, he seemed a little unsettled and had some wind caught somewhere. He finally went off to sleep last night at about 10.30pm. When he woke (don't even know what time it was!), I popped his dummy in, but he was still a little sooky, so I bought him into bed with me, didn't feed him, and he slept right through till 6.00am. My boobs were so full, that he only drank from my right side, then went straight back to sleep, and is still asleep now at 11.25am!! I'm loving it, I've done tea already and I'm just having a peaceful morning with my other two...although my left boob feels like it's just about to explode!!
Went to the health nurse yesterday. Jarvis now weighs 6.3kgs, and is 61cm long at 8 weeks. He is the biggest of my three at this age, so it will be interesting to see if this continues!
Mmmm, Christmas shopping! I have been finished quite a few times now, then I find another sale, or get sucked in by yet another toy!! I have now officially spent WAY too much, and am now FINISHED, lol!
We had a lovely day for DS2's birthday on Saturday...thanks to all for your birthday wishes. He was so tired by the end of the day, but he had such a great time! I was in bed myself by 7.45pm!
Then on Sunday, we had Christmas with my dad, etc. That was also a good day, but I so so exhausted by Sunday night, still am actually, even though I got a full nights sleep last night.
I'm still plodding along with my weight loss. I was 63 kilos when I fell pregnant, and I am now just over 70. I am getting back into some of my clothes, but not the ones I want too. Shouldn't take too much longer I hope.
Anyway, enough about us for today. Will be back for personals tonight. Have a good day!

Hi everyone:wave:
Ok so i am officially frustrated!!!
My gorgeous princess has been sleeping for 6-8 hours a night for about 10 days now. Which is great. The only problem is ... is that I CANT SLEEP!!!
She goes to sleep around 9pm but i not falling asleep till 10.30.. then she waking around 4ish, Feeding and back asleep by 5.15am but do you think i can go back asleep. NOOOOOOOO!!!
Here i have this wonderful baby that is sleeping for about 9-10 hours and i am getting about 6!!!.. My partner works nightshift so no one is keeping me awake... ITS SOOOO FRUSTRATING:mad:
I could be getting so much sleep coz my baby is letting me..... but i cant just drop off.... :banghead:
I might have to learn some relaxtion techniques or something coz this is getting silly.....
Have a great day all and i hope everyone is enjoying the silly season :reindeer:
Hey All
Kayley had her shots yesterday - she screamed the poor little mite but settled pretty quickly afterwards. I didn't think it would effect me but it brought a tear to the eye watching it - I am not as tough as I thought. Anyway it seems to have effected her today as she is really tired - no time for play it is feed and straight to sleep - I guess the good thing is that she is asleep in her pram (and earlier in her car carrier so I have had my hands free to start packing bags for our trip). Poor thing grizzles when she is awake though.
Anyway we had her weighed today and she was 5.41kgs and is now sitting around the 75th percentile for her weight and height - nice to see she must be getting enough from the boob - I new she was a guts! As for size she is sitting around 000 and 00 depending on the brand (with some 00s being huge) but pretty definately out of 0000's.
Well all this sleeping and settling talk. Watched a video at MHC about being awake for 1.5 hours then asleep for 1.5 hours all day - just doesnt seem to work for Kayley. Even when she is awake for a couple of hours she often isnt grizzly - she just wants to know what is going on!! I find it hard to think about forcing this routine plus letting her demand feed and avoiding controlled crying prior to 6 months - so many conflicting opinions!! Anyway I guess in the end of it all I am happy with spending the extra time with her during the day and I can get things done using the baby bjorn etc so I have decided to stop worrying about what I am supposed to do - as long as we are both happy it should be fine. She does self settle at night which is great. Given that, however, when I get home from xmas I am going to try to get her down for a couple of sleeps a day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) then probably let her snooze out with me at the other times.
Well now I have got that off my chest - in response to a couple of the ongoing topics!!
Weight - I was about 58kgs when I got pregnant (and a little bit lighter befroe that). I am now down to about 60.5kgs without doing a hell of a lot apart from a walk most days (too smokey today though) - and I am snacking on a bit of junk so I guess I am lucky. I am getting into a bit of my stuff but the extra weight is mainly in my tummy so pants are a bit of a problem which is why I bought a couple of cheap things at target and some jeans on ebay (Target have bengaline pants with a stretchy waist like maternity pants which I love they are like dressy tracky pants!)
Sorry to here for those whose bubs are unwell - isnt it amazing how focused we get on them! My DH thinks I am erring on th overprotective side which is definately not where I thought I would be - but generally I think I am still pretty relaxed, just learning!
Congrats to those whose bubs are sleeping better. Kayley is getting into a pattern of waking around 2am and 5am then she will give me a little extra until around 7ish. We go to bed together after her last feed (starting somewhere between 8.30 and 10pm) so I am getting enough hours to cope with. Also I am taking a B/C vitamin along with my multi and that has worked wonders for my energy!
Well this is a monster post (amazing when I have 2 hands to type with) so I better go and take advantage of this drowsy time. Going to parents in law for xmas tea tonight so might start heading off soon as I want to try to stop at Kmart on the way. BTW Kmart have those aquarium things people were talking about earlier on sale for $40 if anyone is interested.
Best wishes to you all.

Hi all,
Nedd just had his shots this arvo, but was a very brave little boy. The mchn has a wonderful toy with bells on it that he loves so was quick to get his attention away from the pain of the needles. He is now fast asleep- I think his way of coping will be to sleep it off!
The great news here is that i THINK Nedd is officially sleeping through- after three nights of popping his dummy back in at 3am he woke momentarily last night (I just heard a little squawk) then resettled himself and didn't wake up till 5.30.
Spoke to the mchn nurse about his feeding today- and she thinks I probably don't have a heap of milk (NITTY- my boobs feel the same way you described), so will work over the next week or so at rebuilding it up. He has only been putting on 200g a fortnight for the last four weeks, but is still at the top end of the 50th percentile, and has heaps of wet nappies so she is confidant he is just evening out.
Sare- hope you get a chance to recouperate over xmas (fat chance I know!)
Di- Good luck with the big trip! Have an awesome christmas.......with lots of love and cheer and great times!
Teresa- you deserve a medal for all the visitors you have had to endure, and for embarking on the trip to England, I am stressing bout heading to the gold coast on a plane early feb!
Sarah- Hope Jarvis settles down a bit better for you over the next few days.
Deisal- sounds like you need the music for dreaming CD!!! (Or some rocking off to sleep, or shoosing, or booby.......hmmm- baby settling is on the brain!!)
Beck- I wouldn't stress top much bout Kayley not sleeping during the day as long as you are both happy! Nedd barely sleeps either, but the mchn said it was surprising since he is sleeping so well at night, and that a decent afternoon nap is all I should be pushing for after 12hrs sleep at night.
Speaking of weight loss, I am basically back to pre preggers weight but a very different shape! Last night I was brave enough to try on my wedding dress.......it's been sitting in my cupbaord since 7mnths preg, and it fit beautifully!!!!:smiliedance: :smiliedance: I was a bit scared it wouldnt fit, but can relax now. Only five wks to go till my big day, I am starting to get excited!!!

I thought it might be interesting to see how our bubs have grown after 8wks?
So I am going to start a new thread with our birth notices- if you would like feel free to go and add the 8wk stats aswell.............:)
Thanks sal for doing the 'how have we grown' thread, it's interesting! Jet was 5.75kg and 61cm last Friday (at 9 weeks) so I just subtracted a bit to get the 8 week figure. Aren't they meant to have another growth spurt at 9 weeks? Jet's in the middle of one if that's the case...wonder if he'll hit 6kg by Xmas
Re: Feeding: Jet's being funny this week, he doesn't feed for long at all and then pulls off cooing and smiling as though he's satisfied - but it seems to me he couldn't possibly be drinking much? I'm only topping him up a little bit (2 x 60ml) in the pm too. Will have to weigh him Friday to check: after my supply problems I always stress that he's not getting enough!
Re: Sleeping: Still nowhere near sleeping through here! the best I can get out of him is 5+4 hours if I'm lucky...one good thing though is that he's not 'up with the dawn' any more, I can usually get him back to sleep for a while longer after his 5-6am feed. Thank goodness.
Last night was a shocker...Jet was frazzled and overstimulated after spending the afternoon with DH (who still stubbornly thinks that bub should have a bottle rather than a nap when he gets tired and grizzly :banghead:). So bub was up at 12 and then 4.30, and in between I couldn't sleep myself, even though Jet was sound asleep...I was so tired! Maybe I was overstimulated too, LOL. I ended up taking some Panadeine to try and help me along...
re: weight. Back to pre-preg weight here and have been for ages - just can't get below it! Still waiting for BFing to work its supposed magic :wizard: on helping me shift the 25 extra kilos I had BEFORE getting preg...
sal - good luck with rebuilding your supply. I went and got some chinese medicine today to give that a go, have to boil it up every morning, looks like it's going to taste FOUL, will let you know if it works!
beck - when I stopped trying to force a routine it ended up just happening by itself. I started writing down the times that Jet fed and slept and was amazed at his patterns (although they do seem to change weekly). Your attitude to it is great: Let your baby guide you as to what works for her, don't stress yourself, trust your instincts and everything will just fall into place, eventually!
diesel - I can totally empathise on the not sleeping, it happened to me last night and I feel wrecked today!
sarah - wow sounds like Jarvis is absolutely thriving, well done Mum! Glad your son's bday went well the other day.
nitty - sounds like Dana's a great sleeper, hope she is doing a lot better now.
jen - well done on the weight loss! :yelclap:
teresa - wow you're a champion being so organised and with all those visitors. We're doing the visiting this xmas, I couldn't cope with being a hostess right now!
everyone else - hope you and bubs are doing well and that the leadup to Xmas isn't too mad for you!
Here's the latest on Ryley, poor little bugger, sounds like a real fighter though. Keep sending those healing vibes!
"Ryley is continuing to put on weight, which is good news. He was also cleared of having Cystic Fibrosis during the week, which was a huge relief (he had a sweat test done on Monday and we had an anxious 3 day wait for the result - this was the third test for CF and fairly definitely rules it out apparently).
Just when it seemed everything was going well though, he now has another bowel infection and high-grade fever. Day leave on Xmas day is now up in the air again. It is a roller coaster ride (and not one I am enjoying!).
I would like to put this behind us, however, speaking to the surgeon the other day, she says the definitive operation may even be a decade away. I have no idea how we will cope until then, if he continues getting these infections (though they should lessen as he becomes stronger/healthier). Then again, her opinion on how to treat Ryley could change again given this latest setback."

Hi all
Wow - go offline for a few days and have pages to read.
Lastest on the home front - I'm off the mini-pill, and it has definately made a HUGE difference to my supply, I'm like an old jersy cow again! Isabella is much more content now, I think she definately wasn't getting enough at each feed, even with both boobs. Back to one at a time now, and we'll just manage the contraception some other way for a while, much to DP's disgust!!!
Bec - Hope Kayley isn't having any reaction to her shots, breaks your heart when they get them...
Sal - Good work on the thread, now I just have to get my butt into gear and get Isabella weighed again, I can't believe she will be 11 weeks tomorrow.
Sare - Hows the sleeping going for Lara? Did the 3 times/habit thing work out?
Jeffy - :smiliedance: on the sleep - Isabella is back into her sleep routine again after a few nasty nights. Makes you feel like a new woman when you get that extra sleep.
Sarah - I know that exploding boob feeling, perhaps you could try expressing off in the the morning?
I have DP hovering behind me with bubba wanting afeed so I best go sort her out.
I hope everyone gets lots of rest tonight!

Hey Everyone
Wishing you all a terriffic First Christmas with your new babies.
Our family would like to send love and wishes to you all for this festive season.
:tree:
Look forward to catching up when we get back around New Years.
Hope Santa is good to one and all.
:reindeer:
Good evening ladies,
Kimba, thanks for the update on Ryley. He is a little fighter and Kirstin must be so strong to be able to cope with it all. I don't think I would cope as well and wish Ryley, Kirstin and their family all the best of wishes. :hugs: to them all and that Ryley keeps putting on the weight and gets stronger and stronger each day - makes you sit back and realise that the late night feeds and the grizzles and crying is not that bad and could be worse....
Di, safe travels (all 5,000km's of it!!!) Wishing you and your family all the best for Christmas and the New Year as well.
Kimba (again), Jordan is cat napping and cat feeding at the moment. I can't judge it. He will sleep for about an hour have a feed play for about an hour or two get tired, just drink half his bottle then be asleep again for an hour. I can't work it out. The days of him sleeping for 2-3 hours seem to have gone bye byes! Housework is suffering!
Sal, glad to hear the shots went well. Good idea with the weight posts, however I think it will be embarressing for Jordan LOL!!! Got him weighed yesterday 11 weeks 4 days and just a tad over 8kgs! My boy is growing.....
Just on that, the baby seat says that at 8kgs to turn the seat around, but they also say at 4months. Jordan has now reached 8 kgs so do I turn him around now or wait until he is 4 months? He is sitting up well aided with me holding his belly. His head control is fantastic and has improved this week, so am thinking he should be okay to be turned around. Any thoughts?
Well on Monday the step daughter and MIL arrive from NZ for 2 weeks. Can't wait to see them and for them to meet Jordan. Will be the first time for both of them, although have sent them a heap of photos. First time ever I have had to make sure I have even presents for DSD and Jordan. And what to get a hormonal 13 year old??? Beyond me!!!
Hey another question (warning TMI).... After Jordan I got my AF back about 5 1/2 weeks after he was born. They were quite heavy and I bled for a week (which as unusual for me). Anyway I have not had any since. I haven't had any period pain or anything. I am a bit scared to do a pregnancy test in case I am and then would have 2 under 1, but with these sorts of things they can be "normal". It is now 6 weeks since my last AF. Can anyone shed any light on this - is this normal??? You can PM me if you want. you watch I will get them on Christmas Day and will be a mess again!!!
Anyway I had better go and do my dishes - DH has fed and bathed Jordan so my turn for dishes!
Catch you all soon.
Lucy
Well, tonight. Jarvis is being an angel, and it's my other 2 that keep waking up crying. What's with that?? It's not just the once, but 3 or more times each...I'm getting so frustrated. it's happening every night with them (almost 4yrs, and 2yrs). Any ideas?
Lucy - With the car seat thing....I would keep him rear facing until 4 months. This is the safer position to have them in, and unless he is uncomfortable, I would leave him rear facing. Also, about the AF thing... I had stopped bleeding at 3.5 weeks after giving birth, then started again a week or so later. It was also quite heavy and lasted a couple of days. I thought I was getting AF back too, however, it disappeared as quickly as it started. It happened again the next week but this time just for 24 hours, then went again. I think this can be quite normal from what I have heard from others. My MCHN told me it was happening because I 'was doing too much, I need to slow down'. Don't know if that's what it was or not, but I haven't had any more bleeding since, although I have had bouts of period pain.
Di - Safe travels from me too!! Have a great time away.
Isabella's mummy - I was thinking about expressing it, but I have not bothered doing this with my last two babies, so I just decided to wait till he woke....lucky he was awake 10 mins after my post, lol!
Gotta go, DS1 has woken yet again!!
~Kristin~
20-12-2006, 21:38
Just having a little narny spit at some fool at the hospital (or perhaps I should slap myself for not checking???), when working out Isabella's 8 week weight I realised that when she was born she was only 6lb 9oz not 6lb 14oz like the midwife told me... I never bothered to work it out until now. So here I am writing the wrong weight on things, like her Twinkle Toes framed hand & feet casts etc. :banghead:
When I told DP he didn't care, but its kind of a big deal to me. I guess its my own fault for not checking but I would have thought the midwife would have it right?
Vent over with....

Jeffy - none of the shops offer home delivery because of shopping laws in WA  , ds1 helped out alot by fetching food stuff yesterday, made it a game for us and let him choose a prize at the end so was ok and Harry was supposed to be asleep but woke up, he watched Oliver as he usually does, so was ok, just sometimes would like to have the luxury of ordering from home. Great news on the sleep front for you and weight loss ...well done....!!!
sarah - am plodding along like you with weight loss, these last few just don't seem to want to go away
Bec - you have done well too on weight loss
Sal - am on autopilot at moment, doesn't help the diet either with people visiting all the time but is lovely to see everyone and I get babysitters....and well done too on the sleeping through and weight loss, didn't realise you were getting married soon, how exciting, keep us updated
Diesel - get some lavender oil and sprinkle on your pillow, that is supposed to be good for helping sleep
Kimba - good luck with your chinese remedy, sounds delicious lol!!!
Please pass on our love to Kristin, makes you appreciate how lucky we all are, loads of healing vibes to Ryley :hugs:
Di - Happy Xmas too, you will have alot of reading to do when you get back!!
Lucy - AF can be all over place after having baby so could be just normal, maybe do a preg test to eliminate that or check with doc, yes how typical would that be to turn up on xmas day.....
Isabella's mummy - I had that at hospital but checked myself when I got home in the conversion chart in ds1's baby book and realised they had told me 6lb 13oz instead of 6lb 10oz, ok so its only 3oz but it mattered to me that I was tellling everyone the wrong weight
Santa Train to the city was good today, Oliver got to ring Santa's bell and Harry looked amazed and a bit shocked when he woke up and saw and heard all the people singing on the train, stayed with the cute shocked expression til we got off, although at least he didn't cry, did a few bits of shopping in DJ's & Myers, think I am done now, we all played with the baby stuff in toy dept for ages, was great fun, Oliver is going to love opening all his own presents plus Harry's this year.
Teresa
Morning'
Poor Ryley! I can't believe how the bad luck just keeps hitting him.
I got 6 hours sleep and then another 2 last night! Stoked! I went for my first run in 12 months last night and managed 6.2 km. Took me 40 minutes but it will get better quickly. Anyone want to join in my run/walk/jog distance challenge?! I posted the idea here:
http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?p=922906&posted=1#post922906
I can't believe I will have to turn Sam's seat around in 6 weeks  They grow so quickly it just amazes me. I checked out the stats and Sam seems to be growing the fastest so far. Thought he was getting big!
sal - Isn't it such a relief when your stuff fits again? All of a sudden there is so much more to wear.
Teresa - Ah; that's right! My dad lives in Busselton and the shops are most definitely not open until midnight like they are here! And I really, really wanted some wine that night.....I love WA but the shopping thing sux.
(sigh) - Suppose I'd better go and do some more washing, just for something different! Then it's time to finish off my mini Christmas puddings (mmm....melted chocolate...) :shame:
OMG Jrffy - 6.2km!!I can hardly manage that when I am fit but I am not much of a runner - thats why I play sports!! I havent gone for a a couple of days as I dont think all this damn smoke would be good for a baby - will see how we go today.
Actually I do have a question - do you have a maternuty sports bra??? I have been looking out for one with no luck!
Well Kayley slept most of yesterday after her shots on Tuesday - seemed to come back to normal around 5pm. Unfortunately this morning hasnt been so great with her throwing up after both feeds - one all over me and the second all over herself and the bassinet while I put her down to have a shower - washing is on again! Since then she was crying quite heavily so I gave her some panadol and she is currently sleeping on my shoulder - tried to put her down in her pram with no luck!!
I am glad about the seat theme - I was talking with my mum and was going to look up when Kayley could be forward facing - we think it may help with the carsickness. She is such an alert little bubs she likes to sit up and see whats going on - she also likes to have mum in her sight!! Apparently I was exactly the same so even though she doesnt look like me there must be some of me in the inside - geez I am in for trouble for the next 20 years!!
Isnt it funny we still use pounds and ounces!! Kayleys weight was right (I checked) but for some reason I cant really imagine a babies size when talking in metric!
Well I am off. Best wishes to all and especially to little Ryley who I hope can get home for xmas.
hi everyone. i prob wont get kane weighed till his shots at 9 weeks so will post his growth in then
re weight gain i have bout 18 kilos to loose b4 pre preg weight...yes i know!!!! (i put on 32 kilos) and id like to loose another 10 after that.
re af. i dont bf and mine are odd too. i got them bout 2 weeks ago and it lasted 1 day. wtf im usually a 1.5 weeker. hope it stays this way
poor little ryley :hugs:
well better go i just woke up (i been awake on and off since 3.30)
oh we went and looked at xmas light comp winners around the gold coast last night. boys fell asleep after about the third but dp and i had fun lol
Hi all,
I'm not counting my chickens yet...but it's looking like we have a habit :yelclap: Four days in a row of waking for one night feed. Last night was the best yet. I fed Lara around 9.30pm, put her down around 10.30am and she woke for a feed at 4am. She was up for an hour then slept until 9am. I can't tell you how good I feel after so much sleep.
We went out for lunch at a girlfriend's yesterday. Wouldn't you know it? It ended up being poo day. 5 days worth too  . She made such a mess, luckily I had spare clothes in the nappy bag.
Jen - I checked out your site. Great photos. Sam has grown so much. He's a little cutie too.
Lucy - I'm pretty sure that the recent recommendations about turning car seats around suggest leaving them in the rear facing position for 12 months. It is supposed to be much safer in an accident. I turned Eloise's around when she was about 6 months old but I'm going to try and leave Lara rear facing for a bit longer.
Kimba - Thanks for the Ryley update. He has a really rough start to life. I hope Kristin and Glen get to bring him home for Christmas.
Sarah - I wish I had some advice for you about having your other 2 boys waking in the middle of the night. All I can offer is sympathy. We've had a few nights where I settle Lara and DH goes and sleeps with Eloise to settle her...don't know how you do it with 3. I hope it gets better for you soon.
Teresa - Where abouts in England are you from? I was born in Rochdale, but have lived in Australia for 25 years, so I consider myself an Aussie (definitely going for them in the cricket :smiliedance: ) I've been back a couple of times, but most of my family lives over here. Have a great trip back. I am sure Harry will be an angel for you on the plane.
Kristin - That is a pain about Isabella's weight considering you've done all the momento stuff. You'd think the midwife would know better.
Di - Have a great trip and Christmas. See you back in the new year.
Sal - A great idea about the thread. I'll add Lara's stats in a couple of weeks. Great news about Nedd sleeping through. I bet those first few weeks are starting to feel like a distant haze ( I know my memories of Lara's first weeks are seeming like that)
Oh well off to settle my grizzly girl. Have a great day.
Sare - Thanks; we think he's cute! All babies are though (well-most!) Congrats on the sleep! It really does make all the difference to your ability to manage.
suemp - You have done well to lose 14kg already. My sister put on about the same amount as you with her kids. It will come off. I love looking at all the lights but DH has no Christmas spirit. Might take Sam out for a wander tonight.
beck - That's why I picked the lake to run around - you have to finish it in order to get home! I though it was only 5 km but turns out it is 6.2. That's the longest run I've ever done. What sports do you play? I love volleyball and squash. Re: bras - I have no boobs (A cup normally and BF was only a B cup!) and just wear Lorna Jane singlets with the built in bit. Personally, I would go a good tight crop top if you are still BF.
My little Abbey cakes is finally napping. She pood in her swing really early this morning and I had to wash it, and she doesn't like to take morning naps in her cot and was a bit lost without her swing. Sunny day dried the seat quickly tho, and its swinging bliss now.
Minor rant: I just spent the last 30 minutes trying to find a physio for Abbey. She is holding her head up by herself as she should be at this age, but its crooked. She cant hold it vertical, its called Torticollis or something. Not unexpected given the nature of her birth and her past neck problems, but finding a physio in the city who does babies is turning out to be a problem. Paediatric physios i called dont want to do her, regular physios wont, the royal brisbane want me to be referred through one of their lame on call gps and take a number, and the one infant physio i did find in a special school wont do her because she isnt disabled!
Anyway. Stuff em. We will try chiro.
my friends are annoyed at me too because I didnt agree to go to dinner with them tonight WAAAAAY on the other side of the city, at 6.30, on the busiest shopping night of the year. I explained that Abbey gets grizzly from 4pm onwards and i didnt want to dance and sing in the restaurant, and that her bedtime was 7pm, but of course since they dont have kids they have no concept of what they are asking.
Anyway. Im full of rants today! I'm full of rants and my house is full of ants, i have puke on my pants and my baby's head slants. Hurrah!
this sad sad hippie obviously needs a nap

lol - nutter!!!
I'd say this is my last thread until after christmas, so take care all, if your on the roads be safe, may your babies first chrissy be beautiful and lets have a toast to all us hard working mums - we deserve it!! :yelclap:
Jeffy - you are a star - I'd love to go for a run but I'm afraid black eyes from my boobs won't match my chrissy outifit....
Sare - I'd say you're onto a winner with the habit thingy - hows that for a great early chrissy pres!!! YAY!
Suemp - Relax about the weight, you have done heaps already, and the feswtive season should be enjoyed, not cal-counted.
Also, found out it will only cost me $30 to get Isabella's Twinkle Toes frame fixed up with her correct birth weight. DP and I had a little tiff all because he doesn't get that it has upset me so much that I have been telling everyone the wrong weight. It prob really isn't that big of a deal but for some reason I feel really bad about it... Oh well, bigger issues in the world!
Take care
Merry xmas again

kane has slept ALL day only waking for feeds. im either gonna be awake all night or he is going thru a major growth spurt. dont you love the unknowingness about it
isabellas mum. dont worry i not trying to loose weight yet. the kilos i have lost must all be fluid and baby . i will get back into it but not yet. im not ready and if youre heartnot in it it wont work (god i sound like dr phil lol)

Morning everyone,
just a quickie from me as I have yet another wedding to go to this arvo- this one is out of town so I will be away from my man for atleast 10hrs :crying: I will miss him SO much!
All well here- Nedd has been sleeping like a champ, maybe he is growing too- hope so as he hasn't that much over the last month.
Sorry have read all the posts but will post personals later.
Glad to hear Di has made it safe and sound- what a trooper going all that way!
If anyone else is heading off and won't be around I want to wish you a
WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS,
:xmas:
MAY THE FIRST WITH OUR LITTLE BUBS BE FILLED WITH LOVE, LAUGHTER AND GOOD TIMES
:xmas:
And a big thankyou to all of you- I don't know where I'd be without my virtual mothers group, all of you help me cope with every single day! :hugs:
Ok well DF is about to jump in the shower with Nedd so best go and supervise!
Argh Jet's been feeding 2 hourly since midnight I'm sooooo tiiiiiiirred  I hope this is just a growth spurt and not a new habit! He's sleeping so well in the day now, I hope it's not stuffing up his night sleeps...on the plus side Jet's been such an absolute delight these last few days, really smiley and content and cuddly. I love him to bits!
Have to drive down the coast tonight, it's usually a 4.5 hour trip, hope the traffic isn't too bad...
Just wanted to say thanks for all the laughs, support, and advice this year look forward to hanging with you in 2007!
Wishing you and yours a fabulous, safe Christmas :reindeer: and a magical New Year! :wizard:
Kimba - I hope Jet settles down soon. Is it hot where you are?? They often feed a lot when it is hot.
Well I have Kayley down for a sleep now in her bassinet (second time today) - she must finally be getting past her seperation anxiety!! Otherwise she is just really buggered. She went down yesterday afternoon too but then didnt go to sleep until about 11:30 so if it starts effecting her nights I might keep her sleeping in the family room with me.
Jeffy - I found a sports bra in Kmart with no wires and it is big enough which is great. I am normally a B - C but with BF I am a D - I have to admit it is nice having boobs but I havent tried running yet! I have played heaps of different sports over the years but my main one now is hockey - I cant wait for the season to start. If these last kilos stay with me until then that will definately be the thing to get them off as hockey is a tough running game!
Well I cant be long as I want to do some cleaning while she is asleep as we are leaving early in the morning on what is most likely to be a horror trip - :fingerscrossed: that she doesnt take to throwing up after each feed.
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you all. As I am away until early January I am not sure how much of a chance I will have to post while I am gone.

Hi all,
Life's plodding along here. I have decided that Lara is going to skip being 2... it is truly the pits. Eloise is driving me crazy, but thanks to whoever suggested the phone calls to Santa to stop the naughty behaviour, they are working at the moment.
Lara's had the 6 wk growth spurt this week and she seems to have grown heaps. She's now even more cuddly and kissable.
We had to go shopping yesterday and get a new Christmas outfit for the girls yesterday as the temp for Melbourne on Christmas Day is only expected to reach16  Eloise was so funny walking around Pumpkin Patch holding clothes up against herself saying "How bout this Mummy?" I think it gave DH a bit of a panic attack knowing that she is a shopaholic at 2 yrs and 3 months old.
I just wanted to wish you all the very best for Christmas. :tree: I hope it's a truly special one for your babies' first Christmas. To all of you travelling, have safe trips and a wonderful time with your families and friends. May all you Christmas wishes come true and I hope Santa spoils you all rotten. :xmas:
:tree: MERRY CHRISTMAS! :tree:
Just a quick one - has anyone found their baby upside down in their cot? I heard Sam cooing on the monitor about 3 this morning, left him at it for 20 minutes as he usually goes back to sleep. He didn't, so I got up and found him literally upside down in the cot! He didn't seem to mind and was quite happily untucked and kicking his Fisher Price aquarium. How on earth do I stop this? I realise I will have to put him in a sleep suit in winter but it is too hot right now.
Sare - I am happy it will be cool because I have the most gorgeous Pumpkin Patch overalls for Sam. Love that place! Hope you found something nice for the girls.
jeffy. kane cant turn around yet as his in bassinet but if he was in cot he would as i wake up to his head against the side mid turn.
kane never got his secret santa present sob sob. but luckily he hasnt noticed lol
Sue - I think there was a mixup because I got a PM asking for my address but Sam already has his pressie and I have sent mine (weeks ago!).

Just popping in to wish all the October mums and their families a Merry Christmas!:xmas:
I hope all the bubs enjoy their first christmas!:tree:
Phew so Jet isn't the only one whose Secret Santa didn't arrive yet! poor bubba...I didn't want to look like I was whinging by saying something, but it looks like maybe there might have been a bit of a mixup? I was worried it'd been posted but went astray...?
Anyway hope you all had a great Christmas! :reindeer: Ours was a bit of a disaster with our car overheating on the way down the coast, we got it 'fixed' down there, but it started overheating again on the way back today, had to stop four times to let it cool to add more water to the radiator which made a 3.5 hour trip into a 6.5 hour trip, so we are well and truly buggered! Me even more so, since Jet was so unsettled after a big family Christmas and the freakishly cold weather that he was waking constantly last night and refusing to sleep in his bed, only on me...I've had about 3 hours sleep. It's like he's a week old again  I just hope he gets back to normal quickly!
PS no turning around in cots here yet! wow I'm a bit envious! LOL.
Well; I have decided Christmas is overrated. My sister gave me an ice-cream maker and I don't eat ice-cream. My MIL gave me some plants, which I really appreciate. Ate too much cr*p and that's it over and done with! Sam is buggered today and has been waking only to feed. Poor bubs getting passed around all day! I am sure we are all in the same boat. He has been very clingy and sooky but I don't mind because I like feeling needed! Made DH get up this morning and let me sleep in and I feel like a new woman.
The last 3 days Sam has taken to having conversations with us. I have been encouraging him and he will go on for 10 minutes or more in baby speak! It is really sweet.
kimba - Sam is currently sideways in his cot, with his head wedged up against the aquarium. DH had to put a rolled up nappy there to stop him hurting himself! Don't be jealous, I spend the whole time worrying about him getting cold etc :p Hope your car is 'saveable'
Oops - screamy baby has awoken...
Hi everyone,
Hope you all had a great Christmas, we certainly did. We did the in-laws on Sun and my family yesterday so it was great not to have to travel heaps on the one day and best of all we actually got to watch Eloise open her pressies and she got some time to play with them before we headed off to my parents in the mid afternoon. The girls were spoilt rotten (I swear that we could put most toy shops to shame  ) Lara was so good, she just slept and got passed around from person to person and hardly stirred.
I have to say a big thanks to Lara's secret santa  (thanks Kimba & Jet) The touchy feely books are so cute and I love the horns and toes one too. Eloise wanted to claim them as her own, but they are in Lara's room ready for story time.
Kimba - sorry to hear about your car. I hope it's fixable. Christmas has thrown Lara's routine too. I'm hoping I can change it back soon.
Jen - The baby talk is so cute. Make sure that you get it on video/dvd, it seems like they start speaking proper words before you know it.
It's our 8yr wedding anniversary tomorrow and we're celebrating by going for my (late) 6 wk check up with my OB  . Then we're going to lunch at the restaurant where my brother is a chef. Then Thurs is my sister's 30th b'day and Fri is my mum's 60th b'day (as you can imagine December is a very busy and expensive month for our family).
Well off to rest and read one of the books that I got for Christmas...
Take care
Morning all
I hope our car is fixable too, and I hope that fixing it isn't too expensive. It's the last thing we need right now, with me trying to stretch out my (unpaid) maternity leave as long as possible.
warning! vent:
Poor Jet got totally overshadowed by his 7 month old cousin Finn for most of Christmas Day. The only two people who seemed interested in holding and playing with Jet were my Gran and my aunt - everyone else was focused on Finn all day. Just because he isn't playing with toys and crawling around yet doesn't mean Jet isn't worthy of attention too? especially since Finn lives down there, so they all see him much more often than they see Jet. I was pretty sad about that. Makes me angry and sad too that whenever I go to my parents place there's the latest photos of Finn stuck on the fridge, but none of Jet  even when I just sent them 20 new photos of him. Even the video they took of Xmas Day had a few minutes of Jet and the rest of Finn, and when we looked through my Mum's Xmas Day photos on the camera it was the same - about 10 photos of Jet to about 40 of Finn. Finn had 5 months of being the first/ only grandchild, doesn't Jet deserve equal attention now that he's here too? I feel sad for my beautiful bubba. How do I say something to my parents about how upsetting it is though, without looking like a sulky child? sigh...
anyway. Jet is sleeping like an angel this morning :yelclap: As soon as we got home yesterday he went right back to normal. Of course he didn't have Nanny and Pop all over him like a rash , but he went down to sleep instantly last night and then slept well (woke for feeds at 1 & 5am, got up at 7.30 and went back to sleep at 8.15). It's uncanny since we took his bassinet and sleeping CD away with us, so nothing was different for him down there sleeping-wise, I've even been draping muslin over the bassinet while he sleeps so that it wouldn't even look different. I wonder if it's just the smell that throws him out?
Happy Anniversary Sare and DH! Hope you enjoy your lunch today. What a busy week you guys have! So glad you liked the books, I loved them too , am planning to buy the same ones for Jet now!
Jen, we have a saying in our family 'Christmas is a time of disappointment' LOL. We decided to do a Kris Kringle this year and just drew names to buy one good present for one person (except the two babies who got spoilt rotten - Fisher Price everywhere!). Made it so much easier and everyone got something decent that they really liked and wanted. I think it'll become a new family tradition.
Re: baby talk, Jet still mostly coos and goos at us when he's happy but he has a hilariously vast repertoire of baby babble that pours out of him when he gets cranky and/or tired! 'ning bling ging!!!' is my favourite of his words LOL
my poor bubba got his needles today. i had to hold back tears to avoid looking like the silly sooky mother.
kimba: while it isnt fair i find that often happens with the babies that live close by get favoured over the other kiddies. not sure how to get around it. sorry im not much help
not much happening here, xmas was good. pretty boring but ok. boys got spoilt. kane slept thru gift opening lol
i got lots of money and gift cards and dp gave me scatchies, money and a 2 grand outdoor setting so i did real well
we had an inspection today (rental) and the real estate took photos of the outside of the house. does that sound like they will prob sell?
Sue lucky you to get money, gift cards etc! I got $50 from DH which I put towards a big leather shoulder bag that I can fit nappies and baby stuff into, without it looking like a 'nappy bag'. And a ceramic bowl from my Gran who drew my name in our Kris Kringle. Nothing else for me, lots of goodies for Jet though which was nice although we don't really have room for them. Gotta do a cleanout and sell some cr@p on eBay.
Yeah it sucks that the baby who lives closer gets favoured  you'd think that they'd miss the one they don't see often, and would want to make up for it when they do see him! They don't even have photos of Jet on display, but do have several photos of my nephew . Ah well. I just hope it isn't too obvious when Jet's old enough to notice because I don't want him to feel unloved!
Oh latest news on the car. Could be just the radiator needing a service :fingerscrossed: but worst case is that we've done a head gasket (although they aren't sure without pulling it apart) which could see us up for $2500 which would mean I have to cut my maternity leave even shorter :gloomy:. I think we might just try to patch it up enough to trade it in on something bigger (yay) and hope they don't notice when they inspect it!
I've put the Christmas tree away and have spent most of the day cleaning up and doing washing (yay). DH's cousin sent us some photos from Christmas and I thought I looked trim and I so did not! I had a little pudgy gut and a double chin. And the lesson is; Just because my clothes fit doesn't mean I should wear them :shame: :D
So now I'm drinking a beer feeling yuck but I know I should get over it. DH keeps saying "You just had a baby, give yourself a break!" and I know he is right but I just want to be skinny again. More running required!
We went over to one of DH's work colleague's place for afternoon tea. She is in her mid 70's and it was so nice to be doted on and have Sam spoilt.
Kimba - I know exactly how you feel. My own mother favours one of my sisters and her kids over the other two of us and our kids. I think I have gotten used to it. The funny thing is that we all live in Canberra! Thankfully, Sam is the first grandkid for my MIL and she won't let me have him when we're over there. DH's nan told us that Sam cries too much and her kids never did that blah-blah.....Stupid batty old woman!
Well - think I'm going to buy more beer and some fatty cheese and some salami and some chips.....screw dieting!
Hi all,
DH and I had a yummy lunch, though we should have gotten Eloise babysat as she is such a handful at the moment.
Sue - Lucky you on your pressies. I can't complain though I got some new sunnies, a ghd hair straightener :smiliedance: and some books, a cd and The Breakfast Club on DVD (one of my all time favourite movies). The girls though...it was amazing how much they got.
Kimba - :hugs: I think you should send your parents a photo frame with Jet in it as a pressie, then they would be more likely to put it up. We had a similar experience with the IL's. They lavished attention on SIL's bubs (6mth old) and all converstation always changes to her and what she is doing. SIL's baby got way more gifts than our 2 (not that they need anything, I guess it just hit home because my parents gave each of the girls an equal amount). Although they are too little to realise that their cousin is being favoured at the moment they will one day and that's when it becomes the IL's problem. I think part of the reason is that the IL's don't like me...definitely don't respect me as a parent and the choices I make for my girls, but stiff $hit. Gee it felt good to get all that off my chest, but back to you Kimba... I don't think it would hurt to casually ask to your mum and dad why there's no photos of Jet up(no need to even mention your nephew) and see what their response is. I hope it all sorts itself out soon.
Oh well, off to feed my little cherub...
My mother cancelled xmas years ago, during a religious nutter phase she was going through. Declared it a pagan celebration from the dark ages...
She's since come to her senses but xmas didn't return.
So Abbey and I went and had xmas with our new adoptive family. My best friend's family adopted us, even though we'd never met them before. Let me tell you - people dote on babies big time, even the ones they haven't met! Abbey got soooo many presents. Nothing expensive but everything nice and thoughtful. It was wonderful. I even got chocolates and a book. They knew I was alone and decided to adopt us. :) You can't argue with unconditional friendship.
Abbey had her first chiro visit today. She will need weekly visits for 5 weeks and then monthly for a couple more, but it all looks promising. She already seems more comfortable, even though she seemed fine before (albeit tilty and refluxy).
Kimba-go the patch and trade-in. Its only mildly unethical, but think of it this way - in the total price they will factor in repairs on the trade-in/scrapping costs as well as profit. You're cutting their profit, not releasing a bomb onto the market, and well, diddums to the dealer!
Am I the only one who gets bored by conversations with their baby after 5 solid minutes? I put her in her playgym and tell her to talk to her reflection in the mirror. Bad mummy giving baby mental issues!:shame:
It sounds like we all had a pretty good xmas, so here's to a good new year. Bring on the booze, yeeha! (in reality, asleep by 9pm. I am an old lady)

HI all, hope everyones xmas with their new bubba's was great! We spent it at Hervey Bay with the IL's, and it felt like I spent most of the time justifying the way I'm raising my daughter :banghead: . The extended family were there, and they are always good for a laugh, but I swear to god if I get one more suggestion or get told that they'll look after the baby so I can go and have a lay down because I must need a break - I'll commit an illegal act!!! Grrrr, I don't need a break from my DD, they made it sound like I must be dying to get away from her.
Other than all of the 'helpful' comments, xmas was very special. Isabella was spoilt rotten and had lots of adoration, the closest kiddy to her is 3, and she looked soooooo adorable in her chrissy dress. But I can't wait till next year when she will be a bit more interactive with her gifts.
Kimba - sorry to hear about your car, what a bummer, last thing anyone needs is a huge bill after chrissy. Also, I did the framed photo thing for my grandparents as my cousins little boy seems to be the fav, being 8 months older and the 1st great g'child, hopefully that might stoke the fire of interest a little.
Jeffy - I feel your pain!! I thought I scrubbed up ok but after careful review of the evidence, I've decided that I'm going to have to photo-shop me out of every xmas photo taken - double chin, jelly belly, bags under my eyes, the list goes on!
Suemp - :hugs: to your little one, hopefully the needles reak too much havoc with temps and sleep. :fingerscrossed:
Is anyone else planning on expressing over this next couple of days to have a few drinks for New Years?
Hi girls
Sounds like most of us had a great first christmas with our new babies
Chelsea and Hannah both got spoilt rotten. Hannah more so than Chelsea though which is normal I guess seen as though Hannah is 6 and understands what is going on where Chelsea doesnt...... Although MIL did buy Chelsea a gold bracelet and "expects it to be worn EVERY DAY"......... yeah right. Nice idea but I dont think it will be on EVERY day.
Dont think much will be happening here on NYE. Will probably take Hannah to see the 9pm fireworks then home to bed for all of us. Maybe next year when Chelsea is a little older we will do something more exciting....
Is anyone else petrified of getting pregnant again??? Every time DP and I do the deed I am so scared it will end in another bub :o
Anyway, hope everyone is having a good day and now the silly season is over hopefully I will be back on a lot more again
Jet 'really' laughed at me for the first time today! :yelclap: His Dad is trying to get him to do it again now. He's so bl**dy cute...even if he did want to feed at 1am and 3.30am, then again at 5am then refused to go back to sleep! (argh). I'm wondering when he's going to go back to sleeping most of the night, just waking at 2.30 then getting up at 6 - I loved that.
I never want to go back to work  I want to stay home and play with my bubba all day. But I have to work so we can pay for the 'new' (used) car. We've decided to trade ours in on something bigger before something else goes wrong with it. Which isn't such a bad thing (I wanted a bigger car eventually) but the timing really sucks!
m_jelly - I don't get bored with the conversation but I get bored holding a whingy dribbly kicking baby so when he's like that it's into the swing we go!
kristin - if I could get anything out when I expressed I would! I'm lucky to get 10-20ml from both sides combined. I think I might just give him some ABM if he wants another feed after 8.30pm.
ali - not petrified of getting pregnant, actually I'm looking forward to doing it again! I am scared though of what will happen with birth: not sure whether I want to try for a VBAC and have it go pearshaped (don't think I could cope with another traumatic birth!) or whether to have a planned c-sect. But I want to make the most of focusing on Jet for a while before I get pregnant again anyway...might start TTC late next year.

Hi All,
Merry christmas to everyone, hope you all had a gret day.
Ours has been a busy week, but a good one all the same,
Christmas day was spent with my family- we were all together, which only happens every second year so it was very special. It was first christmas for Nedd and my niece so they both got spoilt.
Then boxing day we headed off for a couple of days with the inlaws, got back this arvo.
That wasn't too bad, though we have been blueing with them at the moment so a bit strained- however the extended inlaw family (DF's aunts and uncles etc) are wonderful and adored Nedd so that was worth the trip.
But yep it has resulted in a grizzly out of sorts bub who's fantastic routine of sleeping through till 5.30 has been thrown completely out of whack.
We have decided that if it takes three days for a baby to develop habits we will only ever visit the inlaws for two days at a time cause they do not listen to a word we say when it comes to our routines for Nedd- they do what they want. Also I was hanging to get home to cuddle my boy again- I feel like the only time I've had with him is to feed him :crying:
Sare- happy anniversary for yesterday!
Kimba- I would definitely say something bout Jet's photo not being up- it just isn't fair!!
I also got a leather bag for chrissie- so I can use it as a handbag- but it has room for nappies etc when I am ducking to the shops and don't need the whole kit and kaboodle!
Sue- sounds like you did very nicely on the chrissie pressie side! Well done
I got a gorgeous pair of earrings from DF and Nedd- sort of in lieu of an eternity ring since we aren't even married yet!!
Jeffy- you definitely need to give yourself a break!!! I have checked out your piccies on your website and you so don't look 'fat'!! Spare a thought for me who has to fit into a wedding dress and look gorgoeus in four weeks
M-jelly- Sounds like you had a great chrissie with your adopted 'family', good for you. We try to apopt a family every time my family have christmas too, the more the merrier. This year we had my SIL's mum and stepdad join us, and my brothers friend from O/S. It makes the day even more fun
Ali- I too am petrified bout getting pregnant! My GP tried to tell me that I would 'probably' be ok without any contreception as long as I was doing a night time feed- um, thanks but no thanks I ain't takin that risk!!!!!!!
I am not going to express for New years- but I did express to have a few drinks christmas night. I also went to a wedding on the 22nd where I had a few too many, and I have my hens day/night on the 6th. So I figure I can have one night off the grog and feed my little one myself! Busy busy busy!:D
Re Baby talk- Nedd has really gotten good at it in the last couple of weeks, I love it so much, I used to get bored of talking to him really quickly cause he didn't talk back, but suddenly I can sit and chatter with him for ages- it is so much fun!! Just waiting now for the chuckle!
So what does everyone have planned for new years? We are going to Geelong to a friends house- I feel very honoured cause a few of my childless girlfriends and their partners are sacrificing a night out to stay home for drinks so that we can join them and take Nedd- very sweet of them, as they are all party animals! Needless to say they are lots of fun and I know we will all have a blast regardless of where we are, but it is nice of them to stay home just so we can join them!
Well, I am as buggered as my little one so going to head to bed for an early one (hopefully Nedd lets me get some sleep before waking!)
It is my turn to sleep in tomorrow morning, so I am up sterilising bottles and doing washing. It has just hit me that Sam is growing up too fast. I want him to stay a cuddly baby forever! He starts creche on 5 Feb and I start work on 5 Mar, so I am freaking out realising there is not much time together left:( . I know he will be okay but I will miss my little man and our 'chats.' Nappy change time is also fun time now since I put an Ikea fish mobile over the table. Sam thinks we're playing and it makes it so much easier!:smiliedance:
Has anyone else got a very hungry bub?! Sam is eating more than 200 ml each feed now and I have to buy the avent 330 ml bottles for 'very hungry babies.' He certainly eats more than the average! He is straining in his 00 rompers this week! He is not fat, just very looooooong.
sal - It took Sam until today to get back into his routine. Being handed around and the travelling really took it out of him. Hope Nedd is back to 'normal' soon. PS - I gave myself the day off and had a large glass of red. I have decided that I am obsessive and do need to chill a bit. It all comes from having obese siblings....
kimba - I had a lady look at me like I was a moron today in Kmart. I was talking to Sam and singing stupid made-up songs so he would talk back and she said to me - "You know he can't understand you yet, don't you?!' Can too, you stupid cow!
ali - Thank the lord for the pill.....we had an accident and I ran down to the pharmacy for the morning after pill. How embarrssing!
Isabella's mummy - Exactly! My perception of myself was way off...
m_jelly - I tell Sam to talk to his fish and bird mobiles. He doesn't mind...
Well - time for sleep...
jeffy my first son was long bubba and he too was hungry all the time so against wat they say i put him on solids early. worked for him. as long as they have grown out of the refex motion of pushing their tongue out they will be fine. or maybe start with farex in the bottle.
kane while long too im pushing to get 150 mls in him at a time so he will def be 4 months if not 6 months before his on solids.
Jeffy and Kimba I know what you mean about going back to work. I am not looking forward to it either..... I go back at the end of January. I will only be going back for 3 days a week but I am still going to miss my baby :crying: She is going to stay home with dad on Mondays, Grandma on Tues and day care on weds (which I really dont want to happen, but we have no other options.....) The daycare I am looking at is right next door to the school I work at so I can go and see her in my lunch break  Are you going back to work full time? Is Sam and Jet going to be in creche every day?
What about every one else? When are you going back to work?
suemp I dont think Chelsea will be going onto solids anytime soon either. She has only just started finishing 150ml per bottle and that isnt every feed anyway. I think she has just had a major growth spurt though. For 3 nights before christmas and again last night she had her last feed at 8pm, asleep by 9pm then awake at 6.30am!!!!!! I REALLY hope it lasts!!!!

Morning ladies
I have been having a bit of a problem that seems to be getting bigger and out of control. For the last 2 weeks i have not been able to get to sleep. Darcy goes to bed fr me at 9am and doesnt wake till at least 3am so she is definetly not keeping me awake. I lay there for hours and my eyes are burning with tiredness but i cant drift off. I have had to start taking sleeping tablets which i hate doin coz i am home alone at night. I even bought some herbal remedy but that done nothing!... I told me GP at my 6 week visit and she touched on the subject of depression.... but i really dont understand that coz i would think that would effect me all the time not just at night.... Its really started to affect my days. I feel sooooo tired all of the time and getting really upset by it.... I am not sure if the lack of sleep is making me sad or my sadness causing lack of sleep. I dont know what to do anymore, i have this terrific baby who likes to sleep and i am no good to her coz i cant sleep. I have tried everything from warm milk to warm showers.... no reading... no t.v......but nothing.
I am at my wits end and i wanna end this before it ends up being something that last for years.
Any suggestions.????????????
Sorry for the vent post.. i really do hope everyone else is having a terrific day!!!!!!!!!:)
morning all...
I don't know what's happened to Jet but he's sleeping so badly now  He refused to nap yesterday afternoon so I thought 'great he'll crash tonight' but the little bugger still had me up at 12, 2.30 and 5am, had a bit more sleep then was up and raring to go by 6.30! I'm more sleep deprived now than when he was smaller, and I hate feeling so cranky and resentful in the middle of the night. Maybe I should increase his evening ABM topups, I'm still giving him 2 x 60ml, I wonder if it's not enough for him now? might try 120ml tonight.
The bl**dy cat has p1ssed all over the playmat/ gym that we gave Jet for Xmas :banghead: I'm soaking it now, any idea how to get the smell out so she doesn't keep doing it?
diesel - You poor thing. When I had depression a few years back I couldn't sleep, so maybe that's why the doc suggested it. When I'm wakeful I do Sudoku until I go to sleep - it helps me switch my thoughts off!
ali - when I go back to work it'll be full time 40 hiours a week :gloomy: I'm going to try to cut back my hours a little though and ask to work from home at least one day a week :fingerscrossed:. I don't have any family nearby who can babysit, but DH is a postie and he's home by lunchtime, so the plan for Jet at this stage is daycare from 8 to 12, 4 days a week, and DH will look after him in the afternoons. I cry when I think about it though. And I don't have a daycare place yet anyway! so we might have to hire a nanny instead. At least Jet will be home and getting one on one attention. OF course nannies are expensive which means I'll have to work more to pay for one, so it's a catch-22 isn't it...really need to get those winning lotto numbers!
jen - I'm with you on freaking out about time running out!!! I'm supposed to go back at the beginning of Feb but am going to tell my boss I can't come back till April due to issues with getting childcare. I bet she isn't impressed...oh and a big raspberry to that silly nong in Kmart!
sal - for New Years we're just going to have a quiet one. Will be going to visit some of DH's Indonesian friends during the day as it's Eid Al Adha coinciding with NYE this year, so that'll be nice.
OK I can hear his majesty calling me...enjoy your day ladies!
hi all,
Just a quick one as Lara is happily playing under her play gym, but is almost due for a feed.
I'm happy being a SAHM for the moment, so no going back to work for me in the forseeable future. I may do some relief teaching when I have weaned Lara, we'll see how everything pans out.
Re: getting pregant again - I'm not on the pill and am happy to have a 3rd, so DH and I are living by the motto if it happens it happens. One of the first things my OB said to me was so when are we back for the next  .
Mary-ann - DH had a bout of depression when I was pg with #1 and the main symptom was sleeplessness. He was absolutely exhausted, yet couldn't sleep. He was prescribed sleeping pills and these seemed to help, but I can understand why you wouldn't want to take them. Maybe have a chat to your MCHN and see what she says.
New Years is a quiet one for us - off to SIL's new house. I really don't want to go as I am still anoyed with MIL and FIL over Christmas, but DH has assured me we won't stay for too long. To make matters worse one of my good frends has just said that she'll have something at her place, which I much rather go to (I might pop in there after we leave SIL's)
Well I better go, someone is hungry. If i don't get on again I wish you all the very best for 2007...looking forward to chatting in the new year
I am sitting here listening to "Sleepytime Songs for Baby". My MIL bought a 3 CD set for Christmas. It is really lovely and Sam is kicking away on his playmat having a blast - not sleeping though!
Sleep in didn't happen as DH had a rough time with bub. Sam just wanted mummy, I think. Oh, well. I am so aware of how little time I have left with him to just sit and cuddle.
Suemp - Thought I might have to start on Farex soon, too. My sister's kids were the same and started at 4 months. I'd rather wait until he is 6 months but I don't think it will happen.
ali - I got promoted whilst on Mat Leave and I start my new job full time on 5 March. I am entitled to work part-time until Sam is two but I can't afford to because we have a car loan and a mortgage. Sam is going to creche fulltime :gloomy: but I have a month to integrate him slowly and they are really lovely there. I have been in a couple of times and they grab him off me straight away for a cuddle! I checked out 12 different places. The one we wanted and got into is not for profit and run by a church.
diesal - I have suffered from depression and I also had trouble sleeping. If it is depression, there are medications and techniques that can help. I found walking to be effective. Apparently, exposure to sunlight can help. :hugs:
kimba - Sam has been the same the last couple of nights. Don't know what has gotten into him!
I had to put Sam's name down for creche as soon as I got pregnant and I got two offers just after he was born. I wanted to start him when I go back to work but I had to secure the placement from 5 Feb and they wanted a 2 week deposit just after I had Sam - Thank goodness for the baby bonus!
Sare - DH is on-call for New Year's. The last two years we were both on-call for work, so we never get to do New Year's. Use bub as an excuse to leave when you want to!
Well - Sam is still playing and my MIL is over for tea tonight, so goodnight all!

Hi all
Well its like the little munchikin read my last post about expressing for New Years. Suddenly she wants extra feeds, night and day, so the whole idea of expressing has gone right out the window.
We get lots of bubby chats and gurgly laughs now, and she's started this really cute thing of snuggling into my neck acting all shy when her daddy is playing with her. Isabella is this close --> <-- to rolling from her back onto her tummy, it has to happen soon!
Ali - Secretly, just between you, me and the WWW, I'd love to 'accidently' fall pregnant again...;) But DP wants to wait a while, so I guess I have to go along with the plan, its in our best interest too, so we can afford to buy a house in the next few months.
Kimba - Isabella has started sleeping badly too. We have gone from waking only once in the night, to sleeping through to around 5ish, then over the last week she has been up between 2-3 times. What the???? She seems to be really hungry during the day too, lots more feeds, so perhaps the night sleeping will improve when this growth spurt is over.:fingerscrossed:
Better go feed her and find some food for us tonight, see ya!

i have managed to lose many of the threads i WAS on, so been trying to find them again, (you know, when an old one gets full, mods lock it and a new one begins?).
can't remember if i was in this one before, but anyway, my tiny bilby arrived mid Nov so i guess i qualify for this group, if you have room for one more.
we are at the six week mark, dealing with thrush, colic and parents on L plates. Soon to be dealing with visiting stepsibling as well.
my tiny bilby has JUST started giving us one second smiles, the best xmas present ever!
i look forward to getting to know you all.

Morning all,
well I officially feel S**t, I have the worst cold (can't remember the last time I had one), and got a terrible nights sleep.
Nedd is also not sleeping well- he has gone from sleeping through till 5.30 to waking a couple of times- and boy doesn't it take it out of you?!? So I feel your pain Kimba and Ali!
Maryanne :hugs: for you, poor thing- there is nothing worse than unwarrented sleep deprivation. I suffered depression a while ago too and it happened to me too- I could sleep all day if I was able, but come night time, I'd toss and turn for hours. I hope you get some answers and are back on track soon. :hugs:
Another one here returning to work soon: Mid feb I will be three days for 1mnth, 4 days for 1mnth, then full time by mid may. Whilst I am happy to be returning to work in some capacity I really don't want to be full time.
But we are building our 'dream home' next year (the one we are planning to raise our children in on six acres etc) so it was either stay where we are and not build or go back to work and build.
We also have an agreement that when we have subsequent children I will stay at home then.
Nedd will be looked after by mum/dad one day, family day care three days and I will work from home one day.
Jeffy- I shifted Nedds mobile to his change table too- and he LOVES it!! It makes nappy time fun for us also- and I can lie him there whilst I tidy the nursery. I think he would lie there for hours if he could- the winnie the pooh crowd are his new best friends, don't you love the look of fascination as they watch it!
Bilbymum- we are all october mums, but you are welcome to chat all the same, there is a thread that the Nov mums have started
Going to a friends house this arvo for a swim, so I am about to embark on a mission to find a new pair of togs- I am very scared!!!!
Well off to shower- hopefully that will make me feel better.
Chat later, enjoy your weekend all!:)
Dont have net on yet but just to let you know i am chasing up the secret santas. I know its been a busy time of year and I for one have been slack to get mine off too:shame: and I am still chasing up an addres for montana so if her mummy can plese pm me the address again that would be great. Be back soon...
WHY WON'T MY BABY SLEEP?! OMG, he finally went down for a nap. I am buggered. He was an absolute terror last night.
I have had a really bad couple of days. Firstly, I put Sam in his pram for a nap in the loungeroom the other night, where I could see him. I went to bed about 1/2 hour later and DH wheeled the pram into Sam's room. Sam fell out of the pram and DH found him on the floor screaming. He brought Sam to me and I was balling my eyes out and was absolutely hysterical. Sam is fine, thankfully but now I'm having trouble trusting DH with him. Now I find myself criticising everything DH does and I know it was an accident but I am terrified DH will drop him or something.
Secondly, one of my two remaining dogs (one was put down just after I had Sam because of cancer) has a paralysed leg :crying: and the vet thinks it is a spinal problem. Today has cost me $200 in x-rays and he has to see a surgeon for some more tests and the like on Tuesday. Poor collie and poor wallett! My little sheltie is walking around the house looking for him and looks so lost and alone.
Think I might have to start stocking up on size 0 clothes. Might go check Ebay out!
Hi All
Merry Christmas to all and their new little ones - though by the sounds of it they are all growing up so fast.
Quick Query - Suemp can you please explain what you meant by the statement about being put on solids early and "as long as they have grown out of the refex motion of pushing their tongue out". Not sure what this means - my DP is talking about introducing farex because Jayden, who is 9 weeks, seems to be wanting more. I am dead against it and wanted to stick strictly to BF until at least 4 months. He was a big boy at birth (9lb 7oz) and is stacking on the weight and is now over 12 lb.
Oh and ebay is a great place to buy new size clothes - because they grow so fast they are hardly in them at all. I have brought some great stuff because we are leaping ahead in sizes.
Take Care all and have a great new year.:smiliedance:

apparently babies are born with this reflex to push stuff out off their mouth to avoid choking. if you try feed via a spoon and cant get past the tongue pushing the spoon out than they say they arent ready butr you can try farex in bottle with a larger teat hole
Hi all,
Good to hear Jet isn't the only one who's reverted to waking several times a night (he did it again last night). I hope it's just a phase they're going through!
sue - that's good to know about the tongue reflex
jen - sorry to hear about Sam's fall and your poor puppy. Hope that your weekend is better! You're so lucky to have gotten a creche place so easily. I've had Jet on waiting lists since last Feb/March and still no offers. Really hoping to get him into family day care, but secretly I'd prefer a nanny (one on one care) until he's a bit bigger, so if that ends up being our last resort I'm kind of happy about it, except for the cost!
rian - thanks for chasing up the secret santas :xmas:
sal - Hope you feel better soon. good luck with the togs! I'm hoping to negotiate a similar return to work (starting part time for a month or so then going back to full time) and I'd like to work from home 1-2 days a week too. if my boss will agree to it! :fingerscrossed: But for bub #2 I want to stay home for the full 12 months...then go back part time only till the kids start school. Ah, dreams...
bilbysmum - welcome!
kristin - that's so cute that Isabella is laughing and almost rolling over. Jet almost rolled this morning but I think it was a pure accident LOL
sare - hope the inlaws don't get up your nose on NYE, at least you can use bub as an excuse to leave then duck over to your friends place!

Just trying to dodge doing some housework before friends arrive for New Years trow, so I thought I'd write.
Q - Is anyone elses bub chewing like crazy and dribbling heaps? Surely not teeth on the move??? She is only 12 weeks old!
I had her weighed yesterday, she was 5.65kg, and the healthcare nurse actually suggested she needs to put on a little more weight. Hmph! I think she is just fine!
For those of you going back to work soon, good luck, but how on earth did you get day care??? I put "unknown baby" down on a lists everywhere when I was only 4 months preg and still haven't got a place. I;ve since been back and updated details and checked and we're still way down the list.
Sal - we have a mobil eover Isabella's change table too, she stares and smiles atit for ages, makes nappy changes sooo much easier. Best of luck with the cold, lack of sleep wouldn't be helping you fight it off, make sure to take it easy.
Jeffy - OMG I totally understand your issue with trusting your DH. My DP nearly dropped DD the other day on our timber floors and as much as I love him, if she had of been hurt I would have clawed his eyes out! Thankfully she wasn't, I hope Sam is still a happy little man. Our blue dog Kia is like another child, so my heart goes out to you. :hugs:
Bilbymum - Hi  , if you decide to stick around with us and not move into the Nov thread I look forward to hearing all your bubby tales.
Bugger, been found hiding on the computer, have been summonsed to help clear out the shed.....
Q - Is anyone elses bub chewing like crazy and dribbling heaps? Surely not teeth on the move??? She is only 12 weeks old!
Yes!!! Jet's fingers are constantly in his mouth being gnawed on ferociously, and the dribble is like a constant stream pouring from his mouth (with froth and bubbles to boot). I have to change his shirts several times a day coz they're always soaked. He even tries to chew his fingers when I have him swaddled.
I was wondering about teeth too, but just read Babylove which rubbished the idea and says chewing and dribble are just normal baby behaviour. So I'm not sure?
Apparently I got my first tooth at 17 weeks, so maybe Jet will get his early too! :D
Mega dribbles here too. Nothing compared to the liquid poo-splosion she's working on at this very moment though. I dare say I will be hosing down her swing seat AGAIN.
(oh the humanity! Had to hose Abbey down too. Start the day by finding a dead roach has been flavouring my kettle and dealing with a mess deserving of a hazchem suit. yay!)
Re going back to work. I don't want to! I love being a mummy, and don't think I could handle putting her into childcare (not that I've got her down anywhere). Sometime in Feb I will have a chat to my contacts and seek something I can do at home. Hopefully by then I will be getting longer than a 3 hour block sleep at night and have my brain functioning on at least half power.
I was thinking about expressing for new years but my breast pump seems to be broken, it has absolutely no suction. I was dribbling away and it couldn't even catch that. You get what you pay for I guess. I've put a new one on layby and will get it in the next sale.
I'm actually quite concerned. Abbey is watching Barney and friends and really enjoying it. I had hoped she would be more discerning...
Argh the roach in the kettle! I made up a bottle of ABM for Jet once and spotted a cocky leg floating in it (thankfully before giving it to him) even after I'd checked the kettle. I'm so paranoid about it now! Obsessively checking and emptying.
Hazchem needed here this morning too. I love waving the poopy nappy at DH and watching him throw his arms up and leap away, as if it's going to jump on him
I wish I could be a SAHM/ WAHM! Have been desperately plotting what I can do to finance it...a friend of mine keeps trying to get me to sign up to sell Amway. If I thought I'd actually make any money out of it I might even be tempted!

Morning all,
well I still have my cruddy cold but I am feeling so much more refreshed this morning!
Last night DF slept in the nursery (our spare bed lives in there) cause I was so snuffly- which meant he was on baby duty, and just brought Nedd into me for feeds, ah bliss! I was able to close the bedroom door and sleep sleep sleep.
We went to a friends house yest arvo for a swim in their pool and Nedd loved it- I think he is going to be a water baby and DF can't wait to take him for swimming lessons next year.
Kimba- Partyplans can actually be a great way to make extra cash! I used to sell linen as party plans as well as working full time- by just doing two partys a week I would easily bring in $200+ a week (and it was all tax free cause it falls as a hobby somehow!) If I didn't have such a great job I would be going back to that for sure, I loved every minute of it and it was such easy money! PM me if you want more info.
In Ballarat day care is so easy to get into! I rang mid last year about family day care and was told not to contact them till dec for a feb place as there would be no probs- now I have to recontact them mid jan to start the process of selecting the placement I want (there will be several FDC spots to choose from!)
M-Jelly your posts always crack me up! Isn't barney and friends a shocker!! The things we make our children watch amazes me sometimes.
Another fist sucker/chewer/dribbler here. The MCHN told me that it is actually better for them to suck on fists rather than a dummy as they do it to learn new sensations.
Jeffy- Big big :hugs: for you. Poor thing, I hope your dog is ok, my dog was our baby before Nedd, and has now progressed to big brother, so I know how much you must love your boy. And hugs to Sammy too- poor little tyke, it would have given you such a big fright.
Make sure you relax with a big glass of red tonight to ease the nerves!
Well best be off to the supermarket whilst Neddy is asleep, got to make a salad for bbq we are going to tonight.

 Happy New year to everyone!
May 2007 bring lots of love and cheer into your lives as we watch our little ones grow.
Have a great night however you choose to celebrate...
:wizard:
Yes, another dribbling/chewing bub here. I have some great pics of her frantically trying to shove her whole fist into her mouth... it's a greate shot :)
Jeffy... sorry to hear about your fur baby... I lost my little maltese baby last year, and I still cry about it now - I understand how attached we can get to our pets, and how hard it is when something is wrong with them.
In regards to lovely runny baby poo... DH always has a habbit of checking bubs nappy by sticking his finger in there... :barf: I always say that one day he would regret it, and today was the day!! We were out shopping and he sticks his finger in the nappy and pulls it out dripping with poo!! He was holding his finger out, hopping around saying 'gross, gross, get me a washer' but I was laughing so hard I couldn't help him. Needless to say, he will have to find another way to check her nappy, lol.
Sal, great to hear that you feel a little better after your sleep last night.. hopefully hubby is just as nice to you tonight!
I have no plans for tonight! What a sad life! Maybe I will have a drink before bed at 9:30 tonight! I would rather sleep than party these days!
I am ment to go back to uni full time March, but I really don't want to put Olivia in childcare. I have the place all booked, but in my heart of hearts I don't know how I can do it. I am thankful though, that I am in a situation where I can hold it off, it's not like I need to go to work for the money IYKWIM. I keep putting off re-enrolling becuase I don't want to. I will have to look into going part time or via distance education.
Olivia is 3 months old on Wednesday... gosh time flies by when you are sleep deprived and covered in baby poo and vomit!

Bring on 2007!
The boobs are expressed, the bottles are ready to go, this mumma is going to celebrate tonight!
Also, it will be 12 months tonight since I quit smoking!!! :smiliedance:
 Have a fantastic night everyone and a super New Year with your munchkins!
HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL
We have returned and it is now 2007.
What a trip. 5000k's is a bl***y long way. The first day we left at 5.30am and arrived about 8pm. The next day it was 6.30am when we left and finally made it at 4.30pm. Went straight to the inlaws for a couple of hours then to Mum & Dads. It was a good trip....too much family.....too much running around but good all the same.
Adam had a couple of unsettled days when we first arrived but he was ok after that.
We took 2 nights and 3 days coming home so we weren't in the car for as long each day.
Had the funniest moment with Adam on the way back. We were sitting at a truck stop having lunch when one of the kids said something funny. As we started laughing so did Adam. Which in turn made us laugh more (and a couple of tough old truckies).
He is definitely a happier baby when he knows everyone around him.
re the teething question. Babies start dribbling and chewing about 2-3 months before teeth appear apparently. Although both my girls had teeth at 4 months. My other son was 13 months though lol.
Well I hope everyone had a great night....I slept lol. Will go back and read what I've missed once I put everything away and catch up on washing.
Oh dear, I feel like a teeny bit of a bad mother. We went to a new years lunch yesterday in a family backyard. I got mum to put sunscreen on Abbey even though we were going to be in the shade all day, but she got burned anyway. Just on her face - it looks like she is wearing a red eyepatch and has a red nose. My little rudolph!
Of course I didnt put any sunscreen on myself so im a big red lobster and Abbey scritches and scratches with her nails while feeding, so there's her revenge.
So yes, I am a bad mummy. I dont own any sunscreen and had to borrow someone else's for her, and she doesnt own a hat. Guess what I'm buying tomorrow?
I was in bed at 9.30 last night and completely enjoying my early night when my ex sent a sms wishing us happy new year. At midnight. Since I use my phone as the bedroom clock it was quite loud in my ear and woke up Abbey as well. My ex is currently trying to convince me to start dating him and see how it goes - anyone think waking a sleeping mummy and baby is a good step? Noooo!!!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!
We went to a friends house for a bbq and I got to enjoy a sober night watching everyone else get drunk!!!! It was actually quite amusing:D
And after being a grizzle bum early on last night Nedd has been an angel.........so far!
Di- glad to hear you are home safe and sound, I think you are all such troopers for doing the trip, I bet your families appreciated it too. Now you can relax!
M_Jelly- don't you just hate it when people send txt in the middle of the night, I have a couple of mates who do the same! And yep- your ex probably should have thought that one through a little more! I don't own any sunscreen either....maybe it should be on the shopping list.
Kristin- Congrats on the twelve months off the fags!!! Hope you had a GREAT night, (and aren't paying too much for it today!)
Pam- What a crack up bout your hubby sticking his finger in Olivias nappy!!!! Nedds are so explosive that you can see it by looking at the sides of his nappy.

Happy New Year to everyone!
Well, aren't I a silly girl???? I did not log on to Bub Hub again until recently and I have been looking at where we used to post and thought that it was strange that no one was there???? Well, today, I scrolled down and I have found you all again!!!!!
I have to go back and catch up on everything...but, I hope that you and all of your bubbas are well! can you believe how quickly the time has gone???
Our Natalia is 12 weeks old tomorrow and everyday I look at her and cant believe that she is ours.....she is a very placid baby...we went out for dinner last night with our families and she slept in my sling until 10.30 when we came home......went and gave her a little kiss at midnight and thanked God that she is a healthy baby.....
I am so glad that I have found you all again...being able to talk to you guys whilst pregnant was so nice......
Anyway, have a wonderful day and I will talk soon

Welcome back Mary!!! Great to see you here again and looking forward to hearing all about Natalia!:)
 Happy New Year Everyone
Sounds like we were like the rest of you, a quiet night at SIL's, we were too tired to even go to our friend's place. Poor Lara was a bit off yesterday, she wasn't feeding well and had a bit of diarrhoea...a great start to the year. She's a bit better today, still not feeding the best though.
Jen - Sorry to hear about your dog. Good luck with the tests for him tomorrow.
Di - Welcome back!!! Hope you hd a great Christmas.
Sal - Hope you are feeling better. I had a sober night too.
Mary - Welcome back. I can't believe that Natalia is already 12 wks old, but then again I can't believe that Lara is 8 weeks old today (why can't pregnancy go so fast???)
Kristin - I hope you had a great night last night.
m_jelly - I have to admit I'm one of those people who send messages at midnight on New Year's Eve...I got in a bit early last night. Hope the sunburn heals soon.
Well my New Year's resolutions are now in swing...I started Sureslim again today (I want to be in my size 12 pants by Lara's Baptism in early March...a lot of work to go) I lost 25kgs in just over 4 months last time, so I'm hoping I can do that again. Also, I started using a spending tracker so that we can watch how we spend our money, I'm a serious shop-a-holic and just use the card for everything so I determined not to be so frivolous this year.
Oh and guess what...I have finally got DH to say that we are going to go for a 3rd baby. He's always said maybe, but now has given a definite yes (more like a guess so, but I'm taking it as a definite yes  )
Oh well enough blabbing...I'm off to tidy up after Cyclone Eloise....
Happy New Year!
This time last year I was TTC and thinking I'd missed the conception window for that month (had been sick for a week so didn't do the deed when I was due to ovulate). Little did I know that I'd ovulate late and that my little man would be with us now and that my life would be changed forever!
I was in bed by 10 last night too after just one glass of wine (sad huh), but woke at midnight for the fireworks (could hear them outside anyway). Jet slept right through all that then woke at 12.40 just as I was getting back to sleep. He's still waking twice during the night then again at 6, and I am soooo tired!
And DH has agreed to start TTC number 2 at the end of this year :smiliedance:
sare - I want to lose 25kg this year too. Especially since we're going to Bali in June! Last time I did it on weight watchers but it took forever, I might try Sureslim if it'll help me do it in 6 months!
mary - welcome back! look forward to hearing about Natalia she sounds delightful.
m_Jelly - LOL at your ex I bet he didn't get the reception he imagined from you!
di_Matt - welcome back, sounds like a great trip. I think Jet is definitely teething, he gnaws on my knuckles when I put them in his mouth. No signs of teeth yet though, hope they're a couple of months off since I'm BFing and he has a tendency to chew!
kristin - hope you had a good night
Pam - LOL at your DH with the baby poo! If I was you I wouldn't want to go back to Uni either. At least you have the option!
sal - hope you get better soon, good to hear that you got a good sleep though! I will PM you about the party plan thing since I'm hoping to cut back my hours at work, I'll need some income supplementation. Thanks! :)
Just a quick question - Lara has a weepy eye that keeps on getting some snot like substance (sorry couldn't think of another way to describe it) in the corner of her eye. Is this sticky eye? If it is, do I just squirt some breast milk into the corner of her eye?
Thanks...what would I do without you guys? :)
Kimba - Sureslim is quite restrictive. I totally went off program while I was pg (too much peppermint chocolate me thinks) But when I stuck to the program the results were unbelievable.
We're talking about TTC#3 around Sept/Oct and then having a break if it doesn't happen straight away (don't want another family b'day between Sept and Christmas it's too crowded already).
hope you all had a good night. we had a bbq and the men (boys!!!) went to light fireworks a block away (cause i told them id kill them if they woke the kids) at 9.30 so i took it as a chance to sneak off to bed lol
re phones: i turn mine onto silent at night so i can deal with the texts in the morning
mjelly. we also burnt kanes face and it blistered. i didnt think you could put sunscreen on babies skin yet. as for the ex he probably thought he was being sweet. we all know men have silly ideas at times
re ttc: if dp doesnt go soon and look into the snip we might be joining you. we try to be careful but its not excatly the best contraception around. and im a fertile little thing. both times i concieved straight away. while we both dont want more kids i dont think i could abort a child either.
di: glad your back. a catchup is well on the cards.
dp is taking ds1 (jake) away camping tomorrow for 2 nights . i cant wait :smiliedance:
kane must be going thru a growth spurt. he has slept basically thru the last 2 days. he sleeps thru from 8 to 5 now and wakes up smiling now instead of screaming down the house
isabella mum: i think the chcn would of only said something about isabellas weight because you b/f the only way they can monitor her intake is by the weight gain. where as i can go in and say kane has had 850 mls today (he is f/f) b/f mothers can only say well they took booby 5 times today iykwim. try not to take it personally but i know its hard at times and dont listen to everything they have to say either, its not them at home raising our kids.
well id better go pretend to be a good house wife hee hee
tc all in 2007
sare yes it does sound like sticky eye. jake had it. i used to use cooled boiled water on a cotton ball to clean it with
