can HPT's be wrong?

Hi there!

Quick question....my AF was due on 2/12/2006 and they have been working spot on like clock work since I had a D&C for a miscarriage back in August.

I have had no signs of AF, but my boobs are twinging, am nauseous and a little bit more tired than usual. Problem is that I have tried 4 HPT's and they have all been negative.

Can the home tests ever be wrong and I could actually be pregnant? Has anyone experienced this.

Thanks in advance for your replies....I'm just curious as don't even feel like AF is going to show..maybe I need a blood test?

Yes. Nothing is fail safe. Get thee to the doctor for a blood test.

Yes they can be wrong. Are you using first morning urine? Perhaps go get a blood test - the only way to be sure I think.

You can get a :bfn: and it really can be a :bfp:

But i dont think that you can get a :bfp: and it mean a :bfn:

Sounds like the same symptoms I had when I was pregnant. Maybe it's too early to tell with the HPT.

Hi Morganj...yes, I have tested the 4 times first thing in the morning....the funny thing is though that my metallic taste is so strong at the moment I don't want to even think of food, let alone eat it...and I'm a big food lover :)

I had not one ounce of sickness, metallic tasting, odd cravings etc with my first pregnancy so am wondering if maybe this could be a good sign...am hoping so as we are so longing for number 2!

The same things happened to me this week! So I've decided to wait till Friday to see if AF shows and if not.. head to the docs. :yes:

I'm hoping for a BFP!!....we've been trying since March this year for number 2 with a M/C in August so I'm getting a bit emotional with hope ...but we'll keep on trying at our monthly "swimming meets"!!

Will let you know.

Will go to Dr next Tues if still no AF as that will be just over a week.

They certainly can be wrong-i didnt get a positive HPT or blood test until i was 2 months pregnant,i was getting all negatives or very very faint positives until then.I'd definatley give it a few days and then see what happens because everyones hormones build at different rates

Okay, got a second :bfn: today. But still no AF and it's over a week late. I'm going to the docs tomorrow, so maybe I'll get a BFP then... or maybe it wil show up in the blood tests?

I've been feeling really queasy the last couple of weeks and getting cramps. I also got a REALLY faint second line in the test this morning, but the box said to disregard 'shadow lines' like that... so who knows. Still no sign of AF.

could I be PG anyway?

like i said it took 2 months for me to get a :bfp: i only got my confirmed BFP on Monday and im almost 9 weeks pregnant now and i'd been doing HPT'S for weeks and was getting all negative results but i am definately pregnant

Sorry to hijack but has anyone not had a temp rise and been pg? I'm getting strange pg like cramps and no AF but just some brown spotting - but no temp rise. I had a m/c 9 weeks ago so that may be the reason too. Who knows.
