Just wondering what is a good sperm count and what is not so good??

Anything below 20000 is consided low, anything above should be AOK! So long as the motility and the morphility are ok.

I think anything above 20 million is classed as okay/normal. But then the motility is a big issue too - I think the average is above 60% motility -
(trying to remember back to when my dh had the test done.)

Volume - 8.0 (2-6)
Sperm Count - 7 (20 - 250)
Normal forms - 12 (> 15%)
Active Motility - 40 Active motility >=25%
Sluggish Motility - 20 OR
Non Motile - 40 Active + Sluggish >=50%



Now he said its low but i dont understand how low.. like what is that 20 000 bit.. is that the 7 bit? so its only 7000?

What is a normal semen analysis result?

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has published the following measurements to help work out if semen analysis results are normal.

Normal semen analysis Volume of semen
More than 2 ml

Sperm concentration (number)
More than 20 million sperm per ml

Sperm motility
More than 50% of the sperm are moving forward OR 25% are moving forward very quickly

Sperm morphology (shape)
More than 15% have a ‘normal’ shape(as defined by strict criteria)

White blood cells
Less than 1 million cells per ml

Sperm antibodies
Less than 50% coated sperm

My DH was 20000 and the doctor said it was normal but a lttle on the low side but he said that is due to him wearing underpants everyday while at work, sooooo sense last week his been wearing boxers to work so im hoping that might help....
A friend of mines partners was over 90000 so i felt really upset that DH was low but the way i look at it, is it only takes one of his little men to get there so thats not to bad
