Well we got our dog from the RSPCA at Katoomba about 2yrs ago now. She has always been an escape artist and im so sick of it. Im so worried that one of these days she's going to get killed by a car or someone will take her. This afternoon she escaped again without me even knowing about it. My BIL was outside and he came and told me that we have been fined $168!!!!!! The council were driving around the streets and found Chelsea walking around without a leash! Im so angry cause we are trying to move and so we need all the money we can get and we now have this to pay for too. :banghead: I love her to death but she really annoys me at times!! Do any of you have an escape artist? What do you do with them?

Until you move, would it be an option to tie her up? I'd HATE to do that myself, but luckily Kormos is an inside dog and we don't have to worry about it.

Perhaps you could contact the RSPCA for humane/approved ways of keeping your doggy from taking itself on walks?

My dog Billy isnt so much an escape artist but he is constantly wrecking things. For example we brought a pool and we had it up for one day and i woke up thr next morning to find the pump cord completely chewed through. We built him a small enclosure made from lattice. We put him in it last night (after he had been desexed that day) and when we were eating dinner he appeared at the door so he had somehow escaped out of his enclosure. Today i brought him an elizabethan collar so he couldnt chew his stitches. i had it on him for no longer than two hours before he somehow got it off. So i know what u are feeling like. Can u build your dog an enclosure away from your fence?

Both my SIL's have escape artist dogs and were both from shelters.

I dont know much about the SIL with the chiuwawa's escaping prob, but my other SIL has a ridgeback x pitt bull(we think he is this) and he jumps the fence daily to escape.

My FIL put up very high lattice on the fence, but it still jumps over it.

They just dont know what to do. I hope you work it out.

Yeah our dog gets out coz we don't have a fence/gate up around the side, we have to comprimise. The thing is if/when he DOES get out, he doesn't actually try and do a runner, he justs comes to the front door to be let in.

Increase walks, buy some new toys and play with her.

Check she's eating the right foods for her breed/age.

OR get a bigger fence lol
