I just want to gloat about my little man - he moved from a cot to a single bed in another bedroom without a backwards glance! He has gone down no problems both nights and all his days sleeps since the move, and just calls out from his bed when he wakes up...he's such an angel! And with number 2 due in 9 weeks, I just love him to bits for it ;)
Enjoy! :D
Isn't it amazing how much we love our kids. There's nothing else like it!

I am interested in putting Jakob in a big bed. We have a bunkers convert a cot where you just take off the cot frame and have a mini bed. What made you think he was ready for the move? Jakob would get out of bed and roam around everywhere so not sure if he is ready. Any advice would be great.
Big Congrats on the move too. What a brave little man :D

Hi Sarah
What made me think he was ready was that his little sister is due in 9 weeks! And I'm not into bassinets, so it was sink-or-swim really ;) I honestly thought Aidan would get up and wander around in the mornings once he woke up, but he hasn't. We bought bunks (which are WAY different to the ones I had growing up)! We set the top bunk up as a single bed, and it has small rails on all four sides except for a small space where the ladder would go. He could easily climb over them if he wanted, but so far so good! The small rails justy keep him from rolling out during the night. I think it's a matter of try and see how your little one goes! And good luck.

Half your luck! My little man (3 and a bit) decided a cot was yukky about a year and a half ago. He was always a rotten sleeper due to horrible reflux and the move didn't help at all. Unfortunately as soon as he discovered that he could "escape" from a bed, he did. For the sake of parents getting at least some sleep uninterrupted, we now co-sleep and his 5 month old sister is in the cot (8-9 hours at a time already - yippee!). I figure he will get the hang of his own bed sooner or later - not many teenagers still sleeping with mum & dad now is there!!
