My little man cut his first two teeth about a week ago, without much of a problem. They have been growing out since then but today, he's started refusing his bottle. I have tried and tried and tried - I even tried using a sippy cup - but he only takes a mouthful or so at a time, and then dribbles the rest out down his chin.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to get him to feed? We are in Qld, and I don't want him to go too long without fluids in the heat...
Hi Bubbamamma,
My DS used to do this...my Health Nurse told me to rub Bonjella on his gums/teething area before the bottle and it worked most of the time.
Poor little fella, it is sad to see them miss out on their favourite yummy drink.
Good luck with him, I am sure he'll drink up soon enough. Maybe offer him some from sippy cup with a straw if nothing works....my DS drank from straw no problems from 9 months or so.
I'd recommend Bonjella also, you can also get a "Teething Formula" from *runs to check the cupboard* Brauer which works well and is all natural, you can get it from decent chemists.
One more thing too, if you're needing relief sooner rather than later you may be able to do this now, although people will probably hit the ceiling about this; for five generations our family has found putting a splash of brandy on the dummy when teething works wonders.
