My mother/grandmother/aunt used to boil it till it was pulpy, and slop it on my plate. As an adult, I won't touch the stuff, nor will I give it to my kids!

I do use spinach, though, and I suspect you could do anything with silver beet that you can do with spinach, but I would probably not use the stems, as they may make things watery when cooked.

You could add it to stir fry, soups, casseroles.

chuck it in the blender, add plain flour a bit at a time till it makes dough (if too runny add teensy bits of water) and make pasta or gnocchi out of it.

Chop it up really small, make a creamy sauce and add it to pasta

chop it up really small and add it to mince/vege protein/lentils add a tin of tomatos, some tomato paste, herbs and some other veges to make a chunky bolognese

make a spinach quiche

make "spinach and ricotta" canneloni

make pizza

umm what else? not sure, we use it in most of our meals, when its mixed in, you cant really taste it, add a glass of oj and you have a high iron meal!

We panfry it in butter with garlic and lots of pepper - YUMMO. Also toss it into tomato and chicken pasta sauce. Lastly use it on homemade pizza.

My sister makes a fantastic pasta dish with cooked silverbeet, cooked spagetti, cream, fetta and ricotta. Toss together and she usually serves it as a side dish for bbq's and things. Everyone likes it too.
