We had a beach wedding, an absolute pain in the butt to get down onto the stretch of beach we had chosen but it was exactly what i wanted and wouldn't have had it any other way:thumbsup: and it cost nothing to use the beach too!! If we didn't get married on the beach we would have had a garden wedding, not sure where though as i never looked into it. Congrats on your engagement:yelclap:

Hi, i got married 6 weeks ago, and we got married in a church and we had a reception at a club. All up including EVERYTHING we paid $12,000, and these days with the price of everything i thought that was pretty good.

We got married at the Anglican Church in Bowral. We're not overally religious, it held more sentimental meaning as my grandparent were married there & my ma & all her Brothers Christianed there..plus it is a devine buidling, very pretty with a huge pipe organ inside.

We got married in the gardens at the reception centre. It was really lovely and convenient, but to be honest, i regret not getting married in a church.

Good luck deciding.:fingerscrossed:

We got married in a beautiful "Wedding Garden" & had our reception at a leagues club afterward, We invited 35 people, I did our invites & decorating.
We only spent aroung $2500-$3000, including a professional photographer.

Just be sure that if you plan on a garden setting for the ceremony, you have a passable option for poor weather, not just for the ceremony, but for the photos as well.

A wedding I went to was rained out, so the ceremony was in the dingy hall where the reception was being held, and the photos were taken in the foyer of the hall near the doors to the toilets. Erk.

We got married on a boat on the Brisbane River at night :)

Several benefits...

you have a captive audience!
no one can arrive late or leave early
an ever-changing view
in/out up/down areas for people to mingle and hang out

The boat dude organised everything...celebrant, food, accomodation for the night....so it was really EASY and relatively stress free for us. All we had to do was show up :)

Highly recommend it!

My BIL & SIL brought their bub along - they brought their pram with them so bub could sleep, and all went well there.

No one else that we invited actually HAD young children, but I wouldn't have seen it as a problem. As long as they were supervised of course! There was plenty of indoor space for them to have brought toys along and set up a little kiddies corner.

dh and I got married on a boat. We didn't want to get married in a church but wanted somewhere undercover in case it rained. We only had our ceremony on the boat (the price included drinks and nibbies) and we then had our reception at a Guest house not for away. It was perfect!

We were married by a celebrant in the courtyard of Quay West hotel in Brisbane. We had our photos taken in the Botannical Gardens across the road, and then came back for a relaxed cocktail reception at the hotel. I stayed at the hotel with my mum the night before which was nice. And I didnt have any bridesmaids-my younger brother was my maid of honour!!! (and he did an awesome job of it;) ) We had a fantastic day.
And we are aiming to renew our vows on our 10 year anniversary-we'll be doing that on a beach with our children:D

We got married in Fiji. We got away with the ceremony, choir, marriage license, celebrant, airfares, honeymoon and photographer, for less than $7000. We loved it and it was the most beautiful wedding ever (slightly biased lol). You would be surprised how many people would attend too.

Church wedding (Catholic, too).

We got a friend to do the photos but honestly I wish I'd had a proper photographer. A friend who's good with photos would be different.

Our reception was at our little local country bowling club - I wish I'd had a BBQ so that I could invite EVERYONE! I have a big family and while family our tradition is to have a small wedding and a big afterparty / present opening the next day, I wish I'd just done it all in one.

Good luck with it all. It's always very exciting !

Jac - just to let you know, some of the unis have beautiful gardens to get married in and are reasonable cheap BUT many of them also charge extra when you are taking your photos there as well. So make sure your friend gets the photos included prices from the uni if thats what you go for.

Dh and I got married in the garden of Curzon Hall where we had the reception. It's a beautiful old sandstone building, and we had our reception in the cellar, as we had a medieval theme. It was unreal!!:smiliedance:

We were married at the registry office...

Surprisingly enough it was really beautiful. We had our photos at the botanical gardens... The actual wedding cost less than 300$ thats including all certificates - even the one so i could change my name!

All up the wedding cost less than 1500, including dress, suit and photographer.

Hi

We are getting married at Mulberry on Swan and thats where we are having the reception as well. With all my research I can suggest the following to you -

Civic Gardens in Cottelsoe. Very nice gardens and have views of the ocean. Great prices too!

Kings Park

Caversham House. Absolutley beautiful. This is where my friend is getting married and having the reception elsewhere. Just gorgeous can't say enough about those gardens and waterfall feature!!

Another friend of mine is getting married at Perth Zoo.

Any local council gardens (make sure you get permission first). Carine Open Space alongside Duffy Road is really nice. Its always really green and has the lake which would be a beautiful setting. Harold Boas Gardens are lovely as are the supreme court gardens.

Check out these websites

www.wawedding.com.au (http://www.wawedding.com.au)
www.weddingwa.com.au (http://www.weddingwa.com.au)

WA Weddings have great selections of everything including garden, church and beach weddings.

What about a beach wedding?

Hope this helps. I have heaps more as I went a bit crazy trying to find the 'one' and that also fits our budget too. Good luck and if you need anymore advice I'm here cos I'm in the process of organising our wedding for August 2007.

My DH and I got married at my Grandparents garden. It was a real bush setting and was stunning. I had always wanted to get married at their garden and when we got engaged I was so excited. They had put it on the market about a month before we were engaged. We had a back-up spot just incase they sold (which they did but settlement wasn't until after our wedding!!) which was the Naracoorte caves.

We didn't want a church wedding because my DH and I are not religious at all.

I would have to say my favourite is Burns Beach. Its really secluded (to keep uninviteds away). Just beautiful. Just have a browse on the site, they have really nice and well manicured gardens on their as well for a great price.

Hope this helps!

We got married at Harold Boase Gardens in WEst Perth. Near Harbour Town. These are lovely and you don't get much noise from the road. We did however have a plane fly over during part of the ceremony. Slight pause and away we went.

I got married March, 2002 at Shelly Beach in Manly, NSW in front of 14 people with a celebrant. The actual ceremony was on top of one of the lookouts overlooking the ocean, then we had photos on the rocks and beach, and our wedding dinner at the beachside restaurant, Le Kiosk (Very swanky and expensive!) We had a top day, stressfree and beautiful surroundings!

That definately is beautiful. Just a thought... is it going to be during peak times though and univiteds will be everywhere on the park and on the beach?? Or is it exclusively available for hire for weddings?
