View Full Version : flat nappy explosion
while i wait for my bbb and bumgenius i am using flats a little bit. today i put a flat on using a jo fold, rolled in the sides as well as i could, with a hemp booster and a pvc target cover. popped rachel in the car and when we got out 3 minutes later (short drive!) i picked her up out of the car seat and (tmi) pooh dripped out all over her, me and the capsule .
what should i have done differently? is this why i need to buy a fancier cover?
she tends to lie on a slight angle in the capsule so actually have had a few blow-outs with sposies too.

i'm guessing she is too big for a double triangle.
Probably need a better cover.
Don't worry Hannah had a terry flat on today because she has been wetting like crazy...she had a sore tummy. So I gave her some gripe water, then we had a blow out it was coming at her legs I had to put my hands there to catch it. Then I change her and she had some nappy free time.... She started to cry so I picked her up and bam she pooped all down my shirt. She had a really sore tummy.
Just a bit of a laugh ..... I guess we all get pooped, peeed or vomited on.
oh yeah... we had a blow out yday after 2 poop free days.... i guess sometimes nothings gonna catch that much poop
Those covers won't contain much at all. A little birdy tells me that your BB's are on their way from Queensland as we speak anyway ;)
Yay Mel - thanks!:smiliedance:
OH no I feel for you.
We haven't had a blow out in a long time. I think my girl was the worst for that. Disposables, flats or mcn you may still get blowouts.
With a well fitting cover you may do better! :fingerscrossed:
I don't think any system can claim to be 100% poo-proof 100% of the time but it is best not to mess with the odds by using anything other than the tightest line of defence. :D
since it'll take me a while to build up my mcn stash i will still need to use flats part of the time ... so any flats users out there with tips on how best to fold nappy in to make a gusset?
