Ok, so because nappychino is down and I'm too impatient to wait for it to come back online I'm going to ask this here!

For a newborn which nappies are best? Flats or fitteds? Are fitteds really worthwhile, do they really make a difference?

I have 12 bamboo flats and several one size fitteds - BBB (3), BBH (3) and CuddleBuns (2- plus the pattern so can make heaps if needed). I am just wondering if the newborn fitteds are really worth it or if flats will do until Bean fits into small/medium fitteds.

I got several one sizers thinking we could use those from birth but now I'm worried about the bulkiness of them on a newborn, and I read the fine print that says from 4kgs so if Bean is a little one we'll be waiting a few weeks before we fit into them anyway!

I have a few fitteds that look like they'll fit from early on (bubblebubs small, tots bots size 1, rumpsters small) but I don't know if I should get a heap more for a newborn or just get more flats....

Thoughts? Ideas? Advice?

TIA :D

I like sized fitteds but then cost wasn't a huge concern for me because I knew we would use them for a second child and get more life out of all the nappies and they still worked out cheaper than full time disposables. I really dislike bulk too so fitteds make sense for us. I've also found that a properly fitting fitted nappy means less leaks. I did use flats in the begining with DS I didn't have enough MCNs yet and was only just collecting my stash. Not planning on using any flats this time with #2 :)

I think it really depends on what you would prefer to use, and how much you want to spend! I used mostly BBH, but Ollie was 8lb 4oz so not exactly small... I think it's 3.6kgs. They fit her fine, but a little bulky, however this didn't bother me as it was all that I knew... flats are going to be bulky too. I did have 3 second hand small sized snappieable fitteds, and they were good, but now I have to boost them!

Personally, I would just get more flats, becuase if bub is bigger, you won't get much use out of the newborn fitteds. The flats can always be used as stuffers for pockets or as emergency nappies! I was prepared to use flats until she grew into the BB but thankfully (lol, I hate the fiddly folding!) it didn't come to that.
