I would like to think I am over reacting and I probably am as usual!

Eliza seems to be feeding very differently.

Especially during the day, what constitutes a feed in your eyes? 10 minutes etc or is it hard to tell as all babies are different?

She does eat her soild's and some days she actually demands that before a BF and then after her solids she has around a 5 min feed but not always

She also seems far more interested in playing than feeding lol

Tonight and last night have been very different she was swaddled she is never swaddled never has been has always hated it, and tonight she didn't want to feed to sleep she just lay in my arms and started to drift off then she started rooting for the nipple so she had a little suck like 3 mins and then I popped her into her cradle and that was that.

Is this normal behaviour for an 8 month old? I understand the changes going on could be causing the change of feeds I think I either want to hear it's normal or yes she could be self weaning.

In saying that when she feeds she does so with conviction and sucks and sucks for about 10-20 minutes perhaps 4 times a day she does that so hard it gets painful!

I am sure I could of written that better so sorry for the ramble:o

I would think that if was self weaning she would give the boob a miss altogether. My DS did it around the ten month mark and would have nothing to do with them.

I think around that time 'they' tell you to offer solids first and boob later.

They get pretty efficent at emptying the boob, which makes for shorter feeds. Don't know what else to say really except I hope she re-discovers her love of the boob!

Hi

Wow, you have a search and you will see that I thought DD was self weaning and she was 8 months old at the time!!! As you know it was a false alarm and we carried on until just recently almost 16 months. I finally worked out that it was my Aunt Flo that had put her off the boob could that be a reason? Apparently the hormones make the milk taste different.

DD's got her b.f down to a fine art and we are talking a few minutes tops so maybe your DD has just got more efficient and dosent need the comfort suckling. I'd say that previously a lot of her sucking was for comfort ?

Hows the packing going?

Teething can make things unsettled, too.

Hello Soppy there you are, Yeah I try to give her booby first before her solids even though she will have no booby and is desperate for some other food! She is definitely not refusing them totally so that's a great sign.

Manixe I don't even have my AF unless she's returning maybe that is what happening..packing HA yer right lol, I have them coming this Tuesday to quote me the removers pack everything, I will have to tell them pack it all except the computer lol

Pix, I've found M's been backing right off lately and got a little worried. I then felt in her mouth and she's getting 5 teeth! She would happily gobble solids but wouldn't have a bar of sucking. She's getting back to normal now though.
Hope she starts feeding more again for you soon.:fingerscrossed:

DD went through a phase like this - i thought it was low supply & started to panic (which just made things worse). But after a chat witht he health burse & a good look at how she was growning/sleeping/developing well - we concluded that she was just very efficient! My boobs were no-where near as full feeling, but that too was just my body being more efficient at having the milk ready at the right moment, and DD would take betwen 5-15mins to feed - a great efficient team!
