Hi

Just wanted to say that my poor little boy has the German Measles. He was really off last week and wouldn't eat very much (he usually eats everything in sight). He has a runny nose but that was about it. Saturday morning he had a rash behind his ear on some spots on his tummy. I took him to the doctor and she confirmed that he had the german measles. Sunday he was covered in them on his tummy, back and face. He has been really upset. I have read that their joints ache with the German Measles which wouldnt be very nice. The only thing I can give him is Panadol or Nurofen. I feel so helpless! Spots appeared on his arms today. Hopefully in the next fews days that should start to go. Anyway thanks for listening.

Hi Kristy ...

Both of my kids had rubella last year and apart from having to stay at home for a couple of weeks and talking to the health department (or something like that - it's a reportable disease), everything was fine.

As you can imagine, having two kids sick at the same time made for a bit of a handfull, but it was more cabin fever than anything. I didn't have to give them panadol or nurofen at any time and neither of them ever complained of any pain. They were 14mths and 36mths at the time, so well able to tell me if they "hurt".

Just make sure that you make your little man's days interesting but calm and avoid contact with any children and pregnant ladies. If he is irritable or has a high temp, then I would give him meds, but you may find that he will sail through and just wonder why you aren't going anywhere!

Take care ...

Thats not nice for a little one. I remember having them at 16 and I was immunised too! I was in bed for 10 days. Not nice in this terrible heat in Brisvegas either.
