We're due with #2 28 August. I'ts very early and we haven't told our families yet, so it's nice to have somewhere to share the news.
Iv'e been reading many readers comments and I'm interested in a water birth. Not sure even if there are facilities where I am (Eastern suburbs Vic). i would'nt mind a home/water birth away from hospital but I'm renting and this place doesn't really feel homey enough. I've been looking to buy for a while but realistically I probably wont be able to find dream home and move in before baby!
Anyway it will be nice to hear from others in the August (LEO) club! :D :D

Hi Lucybelle,
Congrats on your pregnancy :) I'm due in July with my first...though I think we'll make the Leo club anyway;)
Were planning a home birth. I'm from QLD and have worked as a midwife in NSW but am unfamiliar with options for women in Vic (ie I dont know much about the hospital maternity system/models of care/which hospitals offer waterbirth in Vic etc).
I do know that Vic has one of the largest groups of homebirth midwives currently practicing in Australia though. I'm sure if you type "maternity coalition" into your computer and get into the Vic link you'll be able to source a number of midwives who will be more than happy to fill you in on who offers what services in Vic.
Good luck on finding the perfect pregnancy and birth option for you and your family,
Kerrie and Weeny Buba Xx

We let our families know the other day and everyone is thrilled! Don't know why I was worried.
As a midwife does it gives u the s***s when they talk about there being no county doctors and ONLY midwives available to women, like its a second choice!?
It drives me batty. Return birth to the realms of women and their sisters I say.!
Bloody doctors cruise in, catch the baby, cop the medicare sling, while our darling midwives do all the hard yards! (I know, docs aren't all bad!)
Anyway, still researching on the waterbirths. No private cover doesnt help. A home birth would be great but as I think I mentioned before we have 3 dogs, and I know they would not cope in the backyard (and would also howl and drive me to distraction when I don't need it).
Plenty of time to find more options.......

Hi,
Yer it is a bit frustrating. We have a long way to go to catch up with the countrys that have the lowest maternal & fetal morbidity and mortality rates, i.e those where midwives are the lead maternity providers for low risk women.
Good luck on finding your waterbirth option...like you say, plenty of time :)

Hi All!!
I've just joined up and thought I'd see who else was in the Leo Club :) . So far I've been given 20th and 24th Aug as my due date. This will be our first baby. I'm 30, live in Brisbane with my hubby 30. We've been together for 11 yrs, married for nearly 4. My pregnancy has come a huge shock to us both (we conceived as soon as we moved into our new house and mortgage!!) and we're still getting used to the idea of being first time parents. So we've only told a select few close friends and hope to tell our families soon. We know they will be thrilled, but its all just so overwhelming!! My husband is especially find it tough to get used to, its just going to be such a huge change for us both.
Hope to get to know you all as the months progress

Hi everyone
Just found this sight tonight. I am 16wks with #2. #1 is male 18mths. I am off for an amnio this Friday to find out sex and to check all is ok. I had an amnio with my first aswell so am not too worried. I am booked in for a ceaser on Aug 4. Not sure if I will go through with it as yet. I have lost 2 pregnancies prior to this one. 1 at 6 weeks and 1 at 10 weeks. So it is nice to be over the 12.
Looking forward to growing with everyone else

Hiya Lucy,
I am also due with bub #2 on the 28th August. It is a bit scarey as there will only be 15 months between my daughter (born 28th May 2004) and bub #2. How old is your first?
It is good being able to chat to other "mum's in waiting" as sometimes you can feel like the only pregnant woman on the planet.
Hope you are well and not as sick as I have been  (why call it morning sickness when it lasts all day?)
Take Care
Sanz :-)

:D Hi everyone,
Congratulations to all the mums-to-be out there, it's so exciting!
I am due for my 2nd on 3rd November, and hope everything will go well. It's only just gone 6 weeks now, but after a miscarriage last year we are hoping for the best.
I knew as soon as my boobs started aching around about week 3, even before my period was due! I don't usually have morning sickness, so I shouldn't complain, but I have already gone up a cup size.
The other weird feeling has been a sore throat, as if I was getting a cold? Has anyone else had that before? It has been sore for a couple of weeks, on and off, but no cold (thank goodness).
Looking forward to the next 34 weeks or so.....
Christine

Hello girls,
I've just popped in to say hello and to let you know I haven't been ignoring you. Very sadly I lost my baby a couple of weeks ago, I just couldn't bear to be in here until now, and there wasn't anywhere else to post.
It has been a little while now and we have gotten used to it (what else can you do?) and I'm feeling a bit better.
But Good Luck to you all, pleased to see scans and tests going well for you.
See you around

Lucybelle,
I am so sorry to hear this....I know the feeling all too well.
I lost my first two pregnancies (last year) and know what you are going though.
I wish you all the very best for the coming months.
Make sure you cry as much as you need and know that it was not your fault. (if all else fails...go shopping - it helps a little)
Please know that you are valued, loved and as much as this hurts things do get better, day by day.
with love and hugs
marilyn.

Congratulations girls, I have never experienced your loss, so i wouldn't understand what you are going through... So sad to hear about your loss Lucybelle, I hope that you fall pregnant real soon or when you are ready... I am so negative and I haven't even had to deal with a loss of a baby... I guess I am negative due to other reasons... I wish everyone well in their pregnancies and beyond... I am so happy for you yeahaagirl, It is a nice feeling the baby kicking and all, My baby started kicking a week ago now, and is really giving it to me, probably a boy as only a boy would be this selfish, He won't let me eat chocolate, 2 tiny squares is it, sometimes I make myself eat it as I love it so much and think ha ha, and then am sick for hours later... And the fact that I still get sick, well only a boy would do that, as a girl would be like, "go on have some chocolate, you deserve it..." and would feel for you, which guy do you know would be understanding when it comes to sickness, not many... Oh well only time will tell, they do say every pregnancy is different... Anyway, by for now, hope you august ladies are feeling well and keep positive, I know it is hard... :)

I'm due with my 2nd child on the 5th August. I gave birth at 32 weeks with my first son, so I am anticipating another early baby. But I know this may not be the case. Has anyone had early births with more than one child? :o

Hi Marilyn S
My gosh I can not believe how much time has passed since I was last able to get on the hub. My scans have all gone well. I am now I think 22 weeks. I am back at the Ob tomorrow to confirm. I am booked in for a C-section on Aug 4th however am wanting to go natural as I did first time around. Amnio went well and we have another boy on the way. That will be 2 boys for us and no more. How is your pregnancy going? all tests oK?

Hi Busymum....
we are progressing nicely too...all well.
I had my monthly check up today and all is good, had the 21 week ultrasound last week, and a nice healthy Girl is on the way!!
I am starting to relax more about the baby and birth, now that I know the baby is healthy and growing!!!
My husband was able to come to the hospital with me today and he got to hear the heart beat for the first time! which was wonderful, he has seen it at the ultrasounds, but never heard it before, that was great!!

I'm new to BubHub and thought I'd say hullo. This is our 2nd pregnancy but we lost the 1st one quite early on. I never knew it was so common before it happened to me and was absolutely shattering.
Needless to say I'm extremely happy to be able to feel a very active bundle of joy inside.
OB thinks I'm due 15th August. My doula and I think the week before that. There's no way I'm going to convince my OB otherwise. That'll be one extra week I don't have to fight him wanting to give me an induction.
We are facing the challenge of going into a private hospital which has about the highest intervention rate in the country. Which is why we are using a doula. Fingers crossed we will prevail and all will go according to plan ;)
Have started to notice the uterus tightening a few times a day. Not painful yet though thank goodness.

i am due on 28 august with my second child. My first child is now 10 years old so she will be a great help to me. Even though I am enjoying it this pregnancy seems to be going forever and I still have 17 and a half weeks to go. Ultrasounds are fine. It is so much more active than my first, but i would be worried if it didnt move so I cant really complain. Has anyone got any breathing techniques for mood swings to make things easier on my husband i swear he hates me hate the moment i hate me at the moment.

Alternative nostril breathing is recommended for stress reduction. There are many different types - usually to do with the number of counts breathing in vs breathing out.
In my ante-natal yoga class during the relaxation phase we do yogic breathing in for the count of 4 and out for the count of 6. (That's if you aren't laughing at the wiggling coming from down below :) ) The yogic breathing we are doing is like a wave. When you breathe in you 'inflate' your abdomen first, then your stomach area, then your upper chest and the reverse order for breathing out. Quite challenging at first but becomes more natural.
I'm hearing you about the hormone swings. I've had two attacks of it so far an had to flee home from work in hysterics on both ocassions. I've found that just acknowledging where it's coming from and just letting it all out (if you are aren't in company...) is the best way for me to handle it. Then go for a sleep.
Hang in there :)

Hi ladies, don't know if you all remember me its been a while.....
I'm due on the 30th of August.
Well my ob say their is a 85 % chance its a girl......we are going to call her Josie Louise....and yes I get early wake up calls to the loo everynight.....last night I couldn't go back to sleep....don't you hate it when that happens!!!
I'm doing well...although I had a tiny bleed on tuesday night...only a 10 cent coin size...the ob thinks as my bub is still breech the blood could be cuased by kicking down their all the time.....he even said that the babies feet and toes can dig in and cuase smal amount s of blood.....how strange.... I saw the ob today for a normal visit.....
Its almost blood test time again for as all.....I have my referal already so can have it at any time in the next few weeks........I want it done before my next hospital visit on the 27th of May....I'll be 26 weeks then. I thought you had to have it at 28 weeks but my ob said I can have it any time from now to 30 weeks......you know the one i mean...the glucose test......the one that thats over a hour to do........
Oh I'm shared care with my local public hospital and my ob....my ob bulk bills too but doesn't do deliviers anymore.....hence why I still go to the hospital for visits too....I only go to the hospital now at 26 weeks then 36 weeks the 40 weeks.......
So how are we trying to have our babies....I mean vaginal/ normal or c sec.....???? I want a normal this time as I had a c sec with Lucy...as she was breech but now this bub is breech too.....I know it has ages to turn but another breech for me means another c sec......which means always c sec from then on......as the risk increases with more births......so come on baby move...turn..please......lol........
Sorry I have really gone on...just thought I would chatch up with you all.....I'll check this board more often now.......
bye for now...Bel ( lucy's mum)
