Ok so here's the deal:

I am going back to look after the boys I used to be a nanny to. There are two problems; one-they now have a baby sister (well she is 11 months now I think), and two- I have a 5 month old son!!

So the children I will be looking after are:

boy 9
boy 7
boy 3
girl 11 months
boy 5 months

So, that is 5 children

I just wanted to ask if anyone has any tips/advice for looking after this many children with such varying ages, OR anything to help!!!

Does anyone know of any "good behaviour encouraging" incentives I can use??

TIA,

M.

Firstly good luck im sure everything will run nicely for you. Id maybe just suggest to have a routine where your baby and the other kids can work into nicely. And lots of activities. I have a friend that has 5 kids around those ages and one on the way and they just have a nice routine and lots of play activities.
Keep us filled in how it all goes. :)

Well I would suggest have a set routine in place and also get the older children to hep out when they can (age appropriate things of course), maybe talk to the parents about what time the younger ones go down for a nap etc (which I'm sure you have). Best of luck

The boys are old enough that they should be no problem looking after so long as you have some things to entertain them but even board games/cards etc can entertain them or a footy to kick around the back yard. Make a jug of water readily accessible and let them help themselves also.

Wow, 5 kids with one on the way- your friend must be a busy lady! I dont mind doing it for a few hours, but I dont think I'd be able to do it ALL the time
Thanks for the suggestions, I will be sure to keep you updated with how it goes- I start on Tuesday.

The older children are very well behaved, and Im sure they will do a really good job with helping out. I think her baby girl has set nap times, but my son doesn't- this is where it will make it hard, some days Cooper sleeps for hours during the day, other times he wont sleep at all lol! Thanks for the reply

routine routine routine!
goodluck!!
you have to admit though it'll be great fun :D tiring but fun!!

oh i forgot.. a sticker chart will work wonders with the older ones i reckon.. maybe once they get a certain amount of stickers/stamps they get to choose somewhere to go or a certain game/activity they want.

It will be great fun, I cant wait :smiliedance: I used to really enjoy working for them, and missed it when I stopped (to have my baby, and they no longer needed me). The sticker/reward is a great idea  Thanks!

I agree with routine. The older boys should be able to help slightly. Try to have activities available so that they dont get too rowdy. I think organisation will be the key.
