:smiliedance: :bfp: There must be enough of us now for our own thread!
And I'm sure others will join as we go.
I think I must be due about 04/08, not 100% sure of dates
Going to GP tomorrow to have preg confirmed.

OK I better join you then. I've been MIA from Bubhub for a couple of months, as the whole TTC thing was getting a bit overwhelming. But a more relaxed approach and a great chinese herbalist/accupuncturist saw me get a BFP last Thursday (10dpo) after 17 cycles of waiting! So I've been lurking for the past few days.
I had an early m/c last time at 5 weeks, so am trying not too get too excited just yet, but my BFPs are much stronger this time (line is now darker than the control line).
I'm off to the GP tonight - not that I suppose he'll do that much other than look at my HPTs!!!
By my calculations, I think I'm due 6 August 07.

Hi Girls,
Well I haven't told DP our :bfp: news yet, as he is working interstate. He gets home tonight. I was going to try and hold out until Sunday as that is his birthday, and wrap a book of baby names up with the positive HPT. WDYT?

Hi Ladies
Well, I HOPE to be joining you! Have had 2 :bfp: with HPT's but don't want to get excited until I've had a BT.
This will be our first and only our 2nd month of trying so we are very surprised! If I am pg I think my due date will be 8 Aug.
Wishing you all a healthy pregnancy and I hope to have some more news next week
Have a fabulous weekend!

Len- great idea! Have you told him yet or are you still sticking to plan?
Kellie- :fingerscrossed: I'm really hoping for you this is it this time :hugs:
niesl_bug- I'm so happy to see you here!
Sorry ladies to be so secretive but "secretmum" is a pseudonym, I promise I'll reveal all at the end of next month after we tell our family!
I went to the Dr yesterday. He sounded a bit dubious to begin with as I am exclusively breast feeding 5 month old DS and I only had regular periods from the end of Sept but he did a urine test and came back to the room saying it came up pos very quickly! So my job for Monday is to book in with the obs and hosp I used last time. My obs is going to laugh!

Hi guys congrats to all and wow congrasts chicken!! I'm soo glad to see you got your :bfp: I was following your story awhile back so am very happy for you!!
I am due 30/07/07 according to fertility friend but haven't had a scan yet so I could be early August yet, time will tell. So I will sort of float between threads until I have my 12week scan in January.
Oh secretmum how exciting can't wait to findout who you really are!!:detective:
Neislbug I hope you can get your :bfp: confirmed soon as goodluck!!
Len that is a really cute idea it is sure to give him a surprise! Good on ya for holding out, I was too impatient, I ran in and told DH the minute I got a pos HPT!

Congrats to all the lovely August 07 ladies. Our list is steadily growing.
Thanks Lil-XMan. I'm hugely relieved to be here. Mabe someone thought I needed to learn some patience!
I went to my GP on Thurs and we were disappointed to not get to go for an early u/s like last time. I asked, but he said there was no reason for it. He said the only reason he sent me last time was because I had bleeding. So we are going back at 10 weeks to hear the heartbeat on a doppler, and will have to wait for the 12 week nuchal scan to see our little bub. More patience.....
Today marks the same point I had my m/c last time, so am feeling good that there is no sign of anything to worry about yet. I am so excited to be p/g!!!

02-12-2006, 11:42 AM
Chicken - Yeah I was disappointed they wouldn't refer me for a six week scan like last time, but I am over it now and I am looking forward to seeing bubs when it actually will look like a baby lol!!
I'm sure things will be fine with your pregnancy this time.
The first time I fell pregnant I also miscarried at the 5week mark.
That whole time I had very faintlines on HPT's.
When I fell with Xavier (six months later) the lines were so dark wasn't funny!! It was the same this time (I got my 1st BFP at 6DPO:eek: and by 19DPO the test line was darker than the control) so I am very confident that everything is going well inside me.
It's not the same for everyone as some people only ever have faintlines and go onto have viable pregnancies but in my case and maybe yours, I think faintlines were an indication of low HCG because the pregnancy wasn't going to stick.
Secretname do I know you on here??? You have me sooo curious now!! I love a good mystery:detective:

Len - That is such a sweet idea. I would have loved to do something like that for DH but it was 5am on Wednesday when I POAS and it came up positive. He was still in bed and I just ran in there and said "I have something to show you!!!!!!!"
OMG - Tara YAY!!!!! When is your BT?
I got my BT results back on Thursday morning. I couldn't hold out to see my own GP so went through a medical centre near work and asked him to forward the results to my GP. Anyway the doctor at the medical centre had me really worried. He said that my levels of HCG were very low (69) and it could mean there was something wrong. So I was beside myself all day until my appointment with the GP Thursday night. He said there was absolutely nothing wrong with my levels, I ovulated late so the embryo was only just 2 weeks old (even though I was officially 4 weeks and 2 days pg). It is completely normal....phew!
I have booked into an Ob for a 10 week scan in early Jan. It feels so surreal that this is actually happening! :D

deb1234, this was my first ivf/icsi, of 18 eggs collected we only ended up with 4, two implanted and 2 frozen. I was actually told that my pregnancy was not viable, my hcg was only 19 at 14 days post transfer, 6 days later though it jumped to 459, so I am now able to join all of you lovely sounding ladies, have another bt on tuesday to make sure things are going as planned.
So far all of these angels to be, are going to be leo's, YEAH. :yelclap: DH and I are both leos, maybe bub will come on one of our birthdays.
I have a question, has anyone had any cramping?. I have today, quite strong, it has got me a little worried, lasted for about an hour. Fingerscrossed all is okay:fingerscrossed:

Hello all, I am hoping to join you here. I got a BFP about a week ago and will probably be due around Aug 8. I already have a daughter aged 19 months.
Thing is I am very scared about the lightness of the lines on some of the preg tests I am using. I had a miscarriage a few months back and it has made me very scared.
So what brand preg tests are you using? How dark is the line compared to the control line?
fourboys I had some cramping last night, I think its a normal sign of prgenancy. I am sure you will be ok, your numbers are great!!

Hi Lovely Ladies
Went to the doc today and he did a test which was + and sent me off for a blood test. Hopefully should get the results in the next few days (was too shocked to ask!). They think if 3 HPT show positive then I must be pg! My lines were kind of faint, maybe 50% of the control line? I used Fortel (unreliable, I know), Crystal Clear and the one the GP uses (which I thought must be pretty good).
I think my due date would be around 8 August, but not really sure? I know when I O'd and that would make me only 2 weeks pg but if I take it from first day of last AF then I would be 4 weeks.
I haven't had cramping as such but a dull tightness in my lower belly, moreso on one side.
Come on BT!!!!
Angelgirl - phew! glad to hear things are ok!
Lil X Man - good to see you here too!
I don't think I've chatted to any of you other gorgeous gals - but looking forward to getting to know you all! In particular, Secretmum ... very intruiging ...
Must try and get some sleep, have been up since 4.15am today and wandering around like a shocked zombie for the whole day!

Yes, I have had cramping on and off since 5DPO, I spoke to my GP and he said it was absolutely normal. Apparently due to the uterus expanding and contracting. There's a website which I'm also finding very helpful:

[quote=shniks;868326] Congratulations on your BFP!
I used the ClearBLue Digital test that comes up either PG or NOT PG, I found it much easier to read.
Tara - I have only just learnt this in the last few days myself but when it comes to dating a pregnancy, this is how they do it:
A pregnancy is roughly 38 weeks gestation but because no-one (besides those of us who chart!) knows eactly when they ovulate, the pregnancy is counted from the first day of your LMP and the pregnancy is counted as 40 weeks.
So bascially, from your LMP, you would be considered 4 weeks pregnant but your baby is only 2 weeks old.
My LMP was 30th October which makes me 5 weeks pregnant tomorrow but because I ovulated late (CD18 which was Nov 16th), my little bean will be 2 weeks and 4 days old.
:fingerscrossed: for your BT! xx

Hey Schniks - our bubs are only ten days apart my boy was born 10th April 2005, can't belive they will be 20months this month, time goes waaay too fast!
I am 6weeks today and still having the odd cramp, it feels like stretching, especially if I lift something or move awkwardly I feel it.
I seriously wouldn't worry about the darkness of your lines in HPT's, sorry if my last post scared you, it's probably because you are so early in pregnancy that the lines are light.
Even though I got dark lines this time, they weren't dark from the start they were very faint when I first tested and got progressively darker as they days wore on (I was a Peeonastickalholic), which I am sure yours would if you were to keep testing everyday, not that you need to do that either!!
Have you had a BT yet Shniks? If you are really worried you can ask for a quantative BT and that will give you an idea of you HCG levels and perhaps set your mind at ease, but I am sure all is just fine!
Tara - everything sounds mighty promising to me, I think your BT results will be a mere formality! Congratulations! That didnt take long did it, what two cycles am I right?? You fertile thing you lol!!
Fourboys - thats wonderful news, congratulations!! I am sure your HCG levels will soar from now on in!! So there is a possiblity of twins too, wow how exciting!!

hi everyone
went to that website...so far only have cramping (sometimes quite bad) and TIREDNESS. lucky i've got time for a nana nap every afternoon :) (i guess you don't get that with no. 2)
our first appointment with the doctor is tomorrow morning. i'll be 5 weeks 2 days. i did a preg test today and the control line looked like the faint one! haha. i bought 20 tests off ebay and only needed two! so now i'm using them to see if the line gets darker.
hope you are all feeling ok. lets make this a morning-sickness-free thread!

GOOD MORNING LADIES AND BABIES TO BE. I am waking up with butterflies, cant believe I am pregnant, soooo excited. We are now a day closer (that is obvious) and so much is happening to our bodies ( hopefully no morning sickness) and our little one.

Thanks for the info on the preg tests you are using ladies!
Julie our bubs will be exactly the same age apart, I wonder if its a good age gap, I hope it works out well for both of us!
Tara my tests arent all that dark too, maybe 1/2 of the control line. I guess each woman is different and has different levels. I remember they were faint in my last pregnancy too and my daughter came out perfect so I am sure its ok for both of us. We have the same due date!
Fourboys good luck with the test tomorrow!
Deb I am already feeling morning sickness unfortunately. I am so amazed your tests are so dark, your pregnancy is going very well!
I am feeling mega tired sometimes, and I have nausea that comes in waves. My boobs arent very sore though, I wonder when that will start because I had it last time. Anyone else feeling anything yet?
AngelGirl
04-12-2006, 06:52 AM
My boobs are a bit tender, the veins are prominent and I'm sure they are a bit bigger.
Apart from that, just a little queasy if I haven't eaten and quite tired come night time.
I also have the cramps on and off.
That's about all I've had so far and 5 weeks pg today!

 I had no m/s when preg with DS and not felt anything so far this time so :fingerscrossed:
I have been very tired though, the give away I was preg this time as I had it exactly the same last time.
 At all the tests you bought Deb! Last year I bought a 5 pack OPK (thinking it might take me a while to get preg!) and used 1 (which was neg btw) and conceived DS, so I used one more last month (neg again) as a way to try and avoid pregnancy and  I don't need them anymore!

 Hi Ladies,
Well I told DP on his birthday (Sun) that we are expecting. He wasn't shocked at all. He said he was happy and relieved!!! (Reckons the pressure is now off him  ) Now we are going to wait to tell the family at Christmas. (Thank goodness for BH - or I'd be bursting!!!)
I've got a doc appointment tomorrow for the bt etc... but I've got a rotten, rotten cold... It shouldn't matter though, hey? :gloomy:
On paper I am 7 weeks tomorrow (LMP dates) but really I am only 5 weeks tomorrow as I didn't O until CD28. (That is still with adding the extra 2 weeks.)
Oh, I can't see, my eyes are all watery. I think I'll go back to bed while DS is sleeping too!!
:detective: secretmum... maybe when I'm feeling better, I'll have a think on who you might be.
Angelgirl - thanks for organising the EDD cal.

Good morning ladies! I'm 5 weeks today, and very relieved that everything still seems to be progressing well.
Having said that, it still all feels like a bit of a dream. Apart from having sore boobies (I'm sure my nipples are a little bigger), and this constant stretching feeling, I don't really feel that different - don't even notice being more tired. I actually feel really good (maybe its just because I'm so excited):smiliedance: . So its going to be really difficult for me to go through the next 5 weeks until my appointment to hear the heartbeat - I almost wish I would get some morning sickness :barf: so I know there is something going on (I don't actually mean that! ).
Lil X-Man - thanks for what you said about your own experiences. It cheered my up.
Len - we're also going to tell our families the news on Christmas Day. :tree:
We told our parents straight away last time and they were so disappointed when it didn't last (I think my Mum was actually more upset than I was), so we've decided to wait this time. My GP said that if I got to 8 weeks (will be 8 weeks Christmas Day) without any bleeding, that the chances of m/c would not be non-existent, but would be much lower by then. What a great Christmas present!! My Mum's not going to care what else I've bought her - she's going to be totally off with the fairies all of Christmas Day I can tell!!
AngelGirl
04-12-2006, 12:38 PM
Chicken - I am 5 weeks today too!
Len and Chicken - We are telling our parents on Christmas Day too but not telling the rest of the family till after the first appointment with the Ob which is scheduled for mid Jan. We have bought a 'grandparents' christmas card. Can't wait to see my mum and dad open the card and wait for the penny to drop!!

hi everyone,
just back from my first appointment. my doctor put that i'm unsure of dates so i can have an early scan  so i'll get to see our little one on 19th Dec. i'll be 7 weeks and a few days.
Len the first week after ovulation i had a terrible cold that lasted about 2 weeks! so the baby obviously thought i was ok since he/she implanted. i think a cold is only bad for the baby if you have a high fever. (from all my obsessive googling!)
our parents found out the day after my first positive test - so i was less than 4 weeks!! but not telling anyone except for family until 12 weeks.
i've actually used a lot of my 20 preg tests because it wasn't really real until after 10!
chicken
04-12-2006, 02:13 PM
Deb, I'm so jealous you're having an early scan - and just before Christmas too, that will be wonderful.
I tired to pretend I didn't really know my dates, but I think showing my GP all my HPTs with 12dpo, 17dpo, etc written on them might have given it away!
I just booked my first appointment with my OB for 15th Jan - yey. Its all getting very real now.

Chicken, I know what you mean about it being a dream. I am only having cramping, no tiredness or nausea or sore boobs ( I dont think they have grown even a milimetre).
Angelgirl and chicken, 5weeks today, Yeah :smiliedance: ....
Len, DP must be ecstatic.
I am not telling anyone my news, other than interstate friends before 12 weeks ( Hope I last), I have an 11 yr old son who is wanting a baby brother/sister. I am worried that if I tell him and it doesnt work out he is old enough to feel as sad and dissappointed as I would. I will tell him closer to his birthday on Australia Day. Everyone else, your families are going to have such a wonderful christmas treat when you tell them.

Yeah DP was thrilled!! :smiliedance:
Has anyone come up with any names yet or is it to early? I've almost finished trawling though a bub name book and written down any possibility. But, I did start by getting the leftover list from DS so that was a big time saver. DP doesn't like any of the boys names that I like. But he isn't allowed to say anything until he comes up with a list of his own. We've been working on boys names since we had to majorly compromise on DS's name.

chicken i told my doctor my exact ovulation day and she still sent me for an early u/s so that was good! :) you're right it takes a while for it all to become real. i still forget sometimes.
i can just imagine you going to your doc with all these HPTs saying you're not sure of dates!!
Len, have thought of a few names. but think we will pretty much wait until we find out the sex. at least that cuts out half the stress! what is your DS's name?

I have a name for a girl that I like at the moment, Imogen!! See though I will no doubt change my mind a million times before. Haven't got a boys name yet hmmmmmmmmm:detective: I am pretty sure it's a girl so I haven't been looking for boys names but I had better aye, don't want to jinx myself!
deb1234 you are lucky your doc did that for you!! Last pregnancy the doc I went to referred me for a 6week scan even though I probably didn't need one, but this time I went to two different doctors and neither would refer me, saying it was unnesscary blah blah blah:ecomcity: !! Grrrr:mad:
I just hate how there is soo much variation between doctors about referrals, it's unfair that some get and some don't! Same as medicare rebates , some people are getting covered and some people aren't it's so confusing!

What exactly happens at the first ob appointment? Mine is booked for 10th Jan and I'll be about 10 weeks then. Does the Ob do the scan or do they send you somewhere else?

I have absolutely no idea!!!
It seemed like it was more of an initial consultation as they didn't tell me I needed to prepare for anything. I just had to bring my referral and she asked if i'd had any m/c or issues before. I will be around 8 weeks at the time of the appointment ...
This is like the blind leading the blind ;)

Hi, I'm from the "due in Jan" forum, just popping in to visit you girls just starting out
My first OB appt was basically urine test, heart check (mine not baby's), blood pressure check, of course medical history (inc family) and weighing. I think that was it. The first appointments are usually brief. In fact mine are STILL brief at 36 weeks. I guess if nothing's wrong you get in and out quicker.
Anyways, my OB always gave me the paperwork to get my scans/ultrasounds done somewhere else. He never does it himself. I only get to hear the heartbeat at the doctor's office. I guess if you're visiting a clinic that has the facilities on-site then your doctor might do it though :)

HELLOOOOOO??????? I'm going to pop over and join you guys, but I'm also going to continue to hang around the TTC December testing thread, as I only POAS today, which would make me not even 4 weeks pg.
AF is due tomorrow or Thursday, but the lines came up VERY quickly, and VERY dark.
The good thing about knowing this early? I may be able to get into the OB that I want. :fingerscrossed: for all of the phone calls tomorrow.
I'm very excited!

I still haven't been for my bt. I only managed to get into the doc's today and she said I had to have a bt first thing in the morn and have nothing to eat before hand (and don't go to the loo in the morn - fat chance of holding onto that! ). Is that right? I don't remember doing that last time - in fact I'm sure I didn't.
niesl_bug - can you email me the calendar please? I've PM'd you my address. I've tried to work it out once before for DS and either I did it wrong or it was wrong.

The first appointments are usually brief.
Not bad for $180 a pop! apparently I'll get about $90 or so back from Medicare but still....
I called a few ob's and they all seem to charge around the same for the 1st visit.
Kirst - so great to see you here! YAY! :smiliedance:
I got my BFP this time last week (I was about 4 weeks pg), had the blood test on Thursday and saw my GP Thursday night. Friday I called a few Ob's and booked myself in for the first appointment. One place I called, the receptionist laughed. She said "wow you really are only 5 mins pregnant aren't you!"
Hey it's better than missing out on the Ob you want!
I am actually thinking of two different hospitals. Anyone know if it's common practice to book yourself into two Ob's and then cancel one of them once you've decided? Next weekend, DH and I are having a tour at both of the hospitals we like so I'll know by then.
deb1234
06-12-2006, 07:59 AM
morning everyone
my doctor (gp) said that she could handle everything for the moment. i guess you only need to book into an ob if you are dead set on one. as you get further into the pregnancy you start going to the hospital more rather than your doctor and that's when you meet obs/midwives (all according to my sister due in feb), so your gp & hospital share then you finally just deal with the hospital. well that's my understanding anyway. much cheaper to stick with a gp for as long as possible - especially if the ob is just taking your blood pressure!
my first doctors visit (5weeks) she just poked my stomach and took my blood pressure and only charged me $20! bargain! :) and gave me a piece of paper to book in my u/s. :yelclap: then when i go back after that she said she'd order all the blood tests. so she still hasn't actually confirmed that i'm pregnant! lucky i did all those POAS!!
Sandy
06-12-2006, 08:11 AM
I booked my gp for week 7 (I'm week 5 now). Should I book sooner girls? I just figured that after 2 mc's I would wait before wasting people's time.
My gp is fab and will send me for a u/s first thing I suspect. In the meantime, I will just POAS every 4th day and see if the line intensity changes. When I miscarriaged last time, each day when you POAS you saw the line get fainter and fainter. So I consider it a reliable method if you ain't getting ms, although expensive I suppose! To me, ms is a wonderful thing!
From memory my first oby appointment was history, weight, blood pressure etc. Nothing earth shattering and each appointment after that was listen to baby's heart, measure your fundal height but I never got weighed again (relief!). With my cervical cancer stuff I have to be checked out every 6 months so I imagine my oby will do that and they may monitor my cervix in terms of competency. Just guessing anyway.
I was going to drag out my old maternity clothes last night but feel like I may jinx myself so I'll leave that until the 12 week mark.
deb1234
06-12-2006, 08:34 AM
i don't think you need to book sooner. some people don't even find out they are pregnant until week 7! :)
interesting what you say about POAS, i might take one a week until i run out. not expensive if you buy off ebay! :D

I am so excited that I now get to join this thread...I got my BFP this morning!! From the BH due date calculator, my EDD is 08/08/07.
I have booked in to get a BT done on Monday (I am away the next couple of days, so Monday is the earliest I can get it done) so I guess that will confirm everything.

Hmmm, I'm not 100% sure. I thought you had to stay away from any meats that had been processed, so that would definitely include pre-packaged meats, but could also include processed stuff from the deli section as well. Anything that hasn't been tampered with should be fine (so ham off the bone, chicken, turkey, etc). But I might be talking complete rubbish!:D

Listeria
Listeria is a rare type of infection that in most people passes with little or no symptoms. In the case of a pregnant woman, the risk of miscarriage, still birth, premature birth or a very ill baby at birth is very high. Symptoms can be so mild that they pass unnoticed or can consist of fever, tiredness, headache, aches and pains. Foods that are known to occasionally carry the Listeria infection include the following and should definitely be avoided during pregnancy: -
# Ready-to-eat seafood such as smoked fish and smoked mussels, oysters or raw seafood such as sashimi or sushi.
# Pre-prepared or stored salads, including coleslaw.
# Pre-cooked meat products which are eaten without further cooking or heating, such as paté, sliced deli meat, and cooked diced chicken (as used in sandwich shops).
# Any unpasteurised milk or foods made from unpasteurised milk.
# Soft serve ice-creams.
# Soft cheeses, such as brie, camembert, ricotta (these are safe if cooked and served hot). Listeria is destroyed by conventional cooking, so freshly cooked foods are safe to eat. However, listeria is one of the few bacteria that will grow in refrigerated foods. This is why chilled ready-to-eat foods and refrigerated foods should be avoided. Do not eat food that has been prepared and then stored in a refrigerator for more than 12 hours. It's best not to use salad bars in restaurants, supermarkets or delicatessens. Refrigerated foods that are past their 'use by' or 'best before' dates should also not be eaten.
Sandy
06-12-2006, 11:46 AM
Maybe we should post the banned foods as a sticky? Listeria, thats it!! I kept thinking of listerine!
I think I will throw away my re-heated seafood marinara with rice pasta (wheat allergy here) lunch, for a plain vegemite sandwhich.

Congratulations to you all for your BFP's!!!!
I'm worried that I may not be pregnant or that something could go wrong.
My AF was due on Monday and it's now Wednesday and no sight of it whatsoever. So I'm two days late. I did a pregnancy test last night (actually I did 4 of them, I'm obsessed I know!!!) and they all had very faint possitive lines. Does this mean that I'm pregnant and
that there is a probablity of miscarriage as the line isn't the same colour as the other one?? I know it sounds like a stupid question but I've never been pregnant before and I'm so anxious. Is there a chance that there is a faint line and I'm not pregnant?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Helenmac - sounds like congratulations are in order. Some women don't get strong lines until quite late, so don't worry about that. All that should happen now is you should notice the lines getting darker from here on.

Sandy, I'd read that as well, which is why when I went out and bought my digital test at 10dpo (after getting a super-faint line in the morning) and read that I shouldn't test until after my period was due, I thought for sure that it wouldn't show up, but it did (and that wasn't even with FMU)!! My 2 cents with regards to food.
If you don't eat everything that they say you can't eat, you'll starve!!!!!
My last pregnancy, I was cautious, but not obsessive. I ate salami, soft serve ice cream, drank a glass of wine every now and again, and had a latte every morning.
Meat - if you cook it (like ham in a toasted sandwich), it should have killed of any bacteria that may be present.
Salad - if you have prepared it and stored it properly, you should be okay, as long as you are confident of your own food prep techniques.
Stay away from anything raw like sushi, soft cheeses and food that hasn't been refridgerated.
Rule of thumb - if you're really not sure how it's been prepared or stored, don't risk it.
The only advice I can offer (and I have Degrees in Biotechnology) is that if you cook food properly (no more rare steaks) and wash plates and prep surfaces properly (hot soapy water), and watch your food prep techniques (no cross contamination) you'll be fine.
Don't stress about it. Remember, women have been having perfectly healthy babies for millions of years without knowing all of this. It just helps to know.
If you have any questions, I'm happy to help where I can.

Congratulations Kellie, I hope all goes well for you this time.
I am 6 weeks today and the morning sickness has hit me hard this time round I can't remember it being so bad while I was pregnant with my other 2 kids. Im on the count down to when the morning sickness ends.
I have a small dilemma my mother doesn't know I am preganant yet and its going to be hard for me to tell her as she believes that 2 children is more than enough and she has more than enough grandchildren as it is (6 in total) mind you she has 5 kids all up herself. Has anyone else come across this type of attitude and if so how did you handle it?

Marisa - congratulations regardless of what your mother will think. I haven't come across that type of attitude before. Mine is the opposite. I was reluctant to have another child but my mother always hassles me too. I tell her to butt out unless she wants to care for the child and that soon shuts her up!
mumtotwins - I haven't heard of that before? I thought that the hormones that POAS tests picked up were only released upon the egg burrowing into the uterus lining  Maybe the u/s machine was not powerful enough to see the fetal stem? I have heard of that happening. :fingerscrossed: for tomorrows blood test results. They should confirm everything yeah?

Marisa, my MIL is the exact opposite. We only want 2, and she wants us to have 3.
Currently one SIL is due on 2/2/07, another is due on about 20/5/07, and I should be 15/8/07. That would make 9 grandkiddies, and she wants more!

niesl_bug - Thanks for the calendar!! If it is correct then I am having a girl. Looking back it was also correct for DS but I didn't know if he was conceived in Nov or Dec, but it didn't matter cause it showed boy for both. BIG BIG :fingerscrossed: for a lil girl!!!
Well, I'll bore you with the after effects of my bt today... You don't have to read the following...
As it turned out I did have to fast, but I didn't ask why as I am still sick and just wanted to get out of there (and DS was with me). She took soooo much blood, she just kept swapping the containers - I couldn't look. Anyway, got up and left. I made it to the car, DS wanted to go to the park so he wouldn't get into his seat. I was feeling very woozy and ill. So I chucked him in the backseat and shut he door. I then fell into the front passenger seat where I think I passed out. I just opened my eyes and I had drooled (how embarrassing) on my arm. I couldn't see or hear anything properly. So yucky! Anyway to make a long story a bit shorter, it took about an hour before I felt stong enough to get DS into his seat and drive home. I got home - spewed in the front yard (nobody saw), dragged DS into the house and put him to bed and I slept for a couple of hours - thank goodness DS did too. I got up at 12 and the whole thing felt like it was starting again. I've done nothing all day except rest. Poor neglected DS today. I still feel really yuck! :crying: Early night for me!

Len how horrible for you! how long do you think you were sitting in the car? far out what do they need all that blood for anyway!?! they should have given you a chocolate biscuit or something before you left.
i guess i'll have all my blood tests done next year. too close to christmas now. quite inconvenient getting pregnant in nov/dec isn't it! :) at least the BIG bit of pregnancy will be over winter. :D

Hey AngelGirl? Where are you in Sydney? Who are you seening and where are you goin?
Hey Kirst, I was going to ask you the same thing!! I'm in Sydney's south. I am trying to decide between going as a private patient at the Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick (Dr Kaye) or maybe down to Kareena Private (Dr Simpson). I've got a tour of both hospitals next weekend so I'll make up my mind then. I've been told that Dr Simpson is lovely and has a very good bedside manner so I am leaning towards him.
I had always thought I'd go to St George Private but I am turned off by all the negative feedback it gets.
Oh Len, you poor thing! Doesn't sound like you had a good day yesterday. Hope you are feeling better now. :hugs:

Hi Ladies,
Thanks so much for your responses.
Chicken and Sandy thanks for your congratulations. I am definately pregnant.
Deb1234 - I appreciate your advice on buying the clear blue pregnancy test. I bought one yesterday and that beautiful one word came up - 'PREGNANT'. How exciting!
I was wondering if diareea in the morning is considered normal for morning sickness? Anyone know? I've had it the past two mornings. My sences for smell have sharpened as well!
This is so exciting for me as my DH and I have been TTC for 1 1/2 years now and next month we were booked in for IVF!! Can you believe it? We both had 5 treatments for accupunture last month so I truly believe that it took a MAJOR role in me falling pregnant.
Helen.

wow helen i'm so excited for you!!! and a month before IVF plans!!!
i'm so glad i bought the digital test even though it was expensive  it was so worth it to see that one little word! my husband was still reading the instructions out saying it could take 3 minutes etc. and i said don't worry mate its already up. :yelclap:
not sure about diarrhoea, haven't had any of that myself (thank goodness). but i'm sure anything is possible with the amount that's going on in our bodies right now. i had quite bad cramps the first week i found out (week 4) but now i'm fine. just really tired. not looking forward to week 6 when the :barf: might start!

Oh Len! You poor thing!! I have no idea how I will cope if I get sick like that with DD. Too much on one's plate!
Helen, way to go!!!!!! After a year and a half!:yelclap: As for the diarrhoea, I got it really bad when my labour started for DD's birth:( and had it in the first few weeks with DD from memory. I recall driving from Canberra to the Gold Coast in late Dec when I didn't know I was pregnant and DH having to pull over at every truck stop because of diarrhoea. We thought it food poisoning:confused: . I was 9 weeks when I found out that I was pregnant with DD on New Years eve:thumbsup: . This time, I feel more truly vomit sick. I know that if someone put a food that I find offensive right now in front of me, I'd puke for sure. Comes and goes though.
I also have been seeing a naturoptah and she has started acupuncture with me too. If this bub sticks, then I'm having a toast of orange juice to her.

Helen, DH and I had also been TTC for about the same amount of time and I got my BFP a week before I was due to see a fertility specialist. I'd also had about 5 treatments of accupuncture and am also a big believer that it helped me. Spooky. Congatulations to you!!!

I reckon I was there for almost an hour. :crying: DP is interstate so he couldn't come and rescue us. I think the doc (not my usual) decided to test for everything under the sun. Cholesterol etc..
at least the BIG bit of pregnancy will be over winter. :D
Oh, it is so good being preg in winter. DS is an Aug bub too. I had a built in heater. I hardly ever needed to wear a jumper. (Living in Qld might have had something to do with it too though. )
I was wondering if diareea in the morning is considered normal for morning sickness? Anyone know? I've had it the past two mornings. My sences for smell have sharpened as well!
The sense of smell is how I realised I was preg last time. I could smell everything a mile away. I was watching Meet the Fockers at the movies and the girl in the movie was going through her preg symptoms, one being that she could smell everything and I said to myself, "hey that's me too!!!"

Helen and Chicken, it's wonderful that you are both pregnant after waiting so long. I'm sure the next 8 or so months will be an increadible journey for you both. And all of use here in August!
YAY for Bigglet - how great is it to see that word - PREGNANT!!
Am feeling good, have been a little tired lately. Little bean turned 3 weeks today (I am 5 and a half weeks pg but I didnt O till late in the cycle so little bean is a bit behind). I checked my book and he/she has a heart the size of a poppseed which should have started beating this week.
Have been thinking about the listeroisis thing...so if we cant eat "unheated cooked-chilled" meats that means we can't eat Christmas lunch! No prawns.....no cold ham.... and no cold turkey. hhmmm garden salad and christmas pudding anyone??

Good Luck all and have a restful christmas:tree:

Well today I'm TIRED!!!!! I forgot how tired you get! I had a snooze on the couch wile DD was down for hers.
AngelGirl - I'm in French's Forest, so I'm off to North Shore Private with Dr Gil Burton. As I am from Melbourne (and had DD there), I had no idea about hospitals and doctors, and surfed BH for the bet reccommendation. My doc today said that I had made a great choice and that the hosiptal and OB are both great! Phew!
Bigglet - where in Melbourne are you? I lived in Donvale and had DD at Mitcham, but have had friends and family have their children all over (Public and Private). Let me know where you love and I can find out some info for you if you want?
Len - I am so sorry for your experience. I had blood taken today, and they took about 4 vials. Maybe that's what helped make me so tired!?! Mine definitley weren't fasting tests though.
Helen and Chicken - I am so happy for you both. I have a couple of friends who got pg the month prior to starting IVF. 'They' say that once you resign yourself to the fact that you need external help, your body relaxes and is more open to accepting a pregnancy. I wonder if that theory holds any thruth???
Well all, I'm still a bit anxious. Too many m/cs going around, and I don't want to catch it! IYKWIM.

Mine too! That's how I knew I was pg. It usually goes away a couple of days b4 AF arrives, and it hasn't. Then the tirednes came, and that was the clincher!
I forgot that this is your first. Remember to change over your bras to ones without underwires by about 12 weeks. The underwires can block the forming ducts.
I invested in some good maternity bras last time, and was properly fitted for them, so I've just got to get them out of storage.
I found that they got REALLY sore first thing in the morning as the months passed. To alleviate this, I wear a light weight bra to bed - like a racer back sport's top. This keeps them on my chest (rather than 'flopping'), and when you stand up, gives them some support - coz that's when I found that they REALLY hurt.

Oh so true!! Whenever I take my bra off they hurt the most! It's like taking away the support from two heavy melons!

Hi Everyone.....
Thanks to you all for your kind words and advice. Sorry I can't name you all as I'm so tired from crying, I'm confused right now.
You see, I went to a medical centre to confirm my pregnancy (my usual doctor was booked out so I went to any old medical centre) and saw the worst doctor ever and I got a negative on a urine test and will find out my blood test results tomorrow. I'm distraught right now. My DH and I bought 4 more HPT's and I did 2 as soon as I got home and got TWO BFP's!!!!!!! What the hell is going on?
I'm sorry if I'm the biggest whinger on the thread but I'm so confused and scared that the blood test is going to come back negative, I don't trust this awful medical centre once single bit!
By the way I've done 9 HPT's and 7 of them have come back BFP's feint lines. Two of them were the digital clear blue and both times came up PREGNANT.
Thanks to everyone for your advice, this website is the best and all you ladies are so wonderful.

Helen- Goodluck with your BT, I really believe you will get you :bfp: on the BT. The POAS the Drs are just cheapo tests like the shop ones, they are nothing special. Did you take a BFP test in to show the Doc?
I say congratulations!!! beacause with all the :bfp: tests you have done at home I dont think It is possible that you are not PG!! If you are showing a line that many times there has to be HCG present.
Blood Tests- Well I have my Drs appointment on Tues morning and I will be 6 weeks 3days PG.
Ive been putting it off because of my past M/Cs, the last one happened right after they took blood (4 vials) and I passed out fell off the chair (got caught on the way down) then I hit the floor :(
Im so afraid, even though the event was prob unrealted to the m/c Its so scary, Im going to see if I can give blood in two sessions so Its not so full on.
Today I passed the length of time of having both my m/c so Im praying for a sticky one!!!!
Congratulations and good luck to all of you!!!

no sore boobbies here, so hopefully that lasts as long as possible! feel pretty good actually except for the tiredness. and i still get random cramps now and then, not really cramps even, just feel uncomfortable. and no sickness at all yet, not even a smidgen (i've probably jinxed myself now).
helen so sorry this is all confusing! :fingerscrossed: the blood test comes back positive. maybe the POAS at the doctors office wasn't as sensitive as your home ones? Let us know how you get on.
according to that new link i'm having a boy! but the other one says girl so i'll just have to wait. my sister is having a boy in feb so would be quite cool for him to have a boy cousin six months apart but we'll see.
i'll be MIA for the next ten days or so, i'll be in nz. so will catch up on the 18th!
Edit - Spunkyboysmum congrats on making it this far. hopefully these babies will stick for all of us.

Helen, I can totally relate to your story. My normal GP is on maternity leave and I couldnt get in to one of the other doctors until a few days after I got my BFP. Because I was so impatient I thought I'd get the ball rolling by getting a referral for the BT from the doctor in the medical centre located close to my work. The BT came back and I was told he wouldnt give the results over the phone. So I went down to see him and he said "The news isn't good". I could sense the tears welling up in my eyes. He continued with a very serious face "Well you are pregnant, but the HGC levels are very low. It means that it's either very early in the pregnancy or something is wrong". He suggested that I wait another week and test again. I mentioned that I was booked into see a doctor at my usual GP's practice the following day and he gave me the results to take the appointment. So after an agonising wait, I saw the GP and he said "You're pregnant, there is no doubt about it, everything is absolutely fine". "Your levels are on the low side but you ovulated late so the embryo has only just turned 2 weeks old today." He was annoyed at the medical centre doctor for scaring me.
So basically, I'm not fond of medical centres either!! I'm sure the results will come back positive for you. Let us know how you go.
xx

Well the gender charts predicted my DD correctly and this time all the charts are telling me that I'm having a boy! God I hope that's true!!!!!
DH is a mad fitness head and they say that athlete's always produce girls. The past few months he has been so busy working that he has actually put on some pounds and his fitness has decreased dramatically so even he agrees that maybe we are having a boy!
Well I am approaching my 2nd m/c time soon :gloomy: - 6weeks and my first one was at 9 weeks so I am far from out of the woods. And the longer I go on, the more I know how horrible a m/c will be. Even at 9weeks I had slight labour pains and it was just horrible. If I lose this kid, then no more for me. I don't think that mentally I could take it and with my aneamia, my body couldn't take it again either. The blood loss is too severe.
Sorry to be so negative but its hard to be positive knowing that your building yourself up for disappointment. Plus I haven't had any m/s this morning and for people who have had m/c's before, m/s is your friend.

I'm on top of the world today. I got a BFP on my BT this morning! Yippee!! I asked the doctor if a blood test is 100% accurate and he said no its 4000% accurate lol how exciting!!!
Now I just have to get over the first trimester. I'm trying not to get too overly excited as I know there is still a chance of m/c. :fingerscrossed: that never happens to any of us!!!!!
Chicken - That is such a freaky co-incidence that we have been through the same experiences. Congratulations to you too.
Kirst, Spunkyboysmum, Deb, Tara - Thanks ever so much for your words of positivity. It was just what I needed at my roller coaster moment. Phew I'm sooooo glad you were all right!
Angelgirl - Thats so awful what you had to go through. Some doctors are just so insensative aren't they? My god don't they realise the anxiety that they can cause!! I was lucky that the doctor at the same medical centre this morning was so lovely and genuine and gave me and my DH lots of advice on our pregnancy.

With my first pregnancy I went to a different doc and he did exactly the same thing! Just the urine test! And this doc (different clinic) did the same so I thought perhaps that's standard? Just did that test - he goes "yup, you're pregnant, let me know which hospital you want to go and I'll send them a fax" And that was it!?!?
What does the BT do besides tell you that you are pregnant? Any other tests done at the same time?
Sandy
08-12-2006, 01:54 PM
The BT will confirm dates to a certain extent. Not sure of anything else.
With DD the doc just said that if I had got a positive on a pregnancy test than they are 99% accurate so he would believe that I am pregnant. He said that we will a BT to confirm my HCG count to how far along I thought I was. Then I got lecture on miscarriages and to not bother him until we knew that the kid had stuck. So not to see anyone until the 12 week mark but he would give me a referral for a U/S for then, just in case I didn't miscarry. Bit of butt head looking back too! And also given that that was my first pregnancy. No history of M/C with me or family (then).
Edit: My oby was furious with my GP when I told what he had said because I was late for the U/S in the end as my dates were out. We got the downs test in, just in time.

Sandy - Thanks for your lovely message. I can't stop smiling either - All day long!
Bigglet - I wouldn't worry too much about the doctor not giving you a blood test. My twin sister NEVER had a blood test with either of her 3 children. Maybe your pregnancy line was very dark on the pregnancy test so no need to test any further. All my HPT's had a very feint lines so my DH and I requested a blood test to confirm. You can always go back and have one for peace of mind.
Fourboys - I am having signs of pregnancy. Firstly my sense of smell is soooo exagerated. I noticed about 1 week ago. Also I have had some diareea for 3 mornings in a row and when I eat I feel a bit of stichy pain in my stomach like light period pain. Apart from that nothing more at this stage.
:fingerscrossed: that we all are experiencing normal signs that everything is going to be okay!!!!!

Helen - yup had to say that my line was very dark in comparison to the control test line so the doctor said it was a very positive test!
Fourboys - I'm still breastfeeding my 10 month old and about 2-3 weeks ago when she was having a morning feed she screwed up her face as if my milk had turned sour! She still drank though but when I put her on my other breast she did the same thing! I remember looking at her (after hearing a lot of babies do wean themselves off mum if they are pregnant because the milk has changed) and thinking "hmmmm I could be pregnant!!"

My goodness you gals can :ecomcity: !!!!
Helen - great news!!!! We all knew all along!
Info re BTs - the also check for things like HIV and Hep B and C, iron levels, rubella, etc. Just to make sure that bubs' home is going to be good for the next 8 or so months. The reason that they can't usually give the results out over the phone is because of the HIV test - legislation prevents results being revealed that way. But if they are testing for HIV, they have to tell you. So
Sandy - I am currenlty anxios about m/c myself, and I have never even had one, so I can only imagine your anxieties. Hang in there. We're here for you. :hugs:

Kirst - Wow I read your thread titled 'Scared' and you sounded EXACTLY like me. Honestly everything you said is totally what I am going through and are due date is only a few days apart! I actually also have a very strong sense of smell at the moment. It's like I can smell everything from a mile away. I can't even stand wearing perfume as it's way too powerful!!
Questions: Is it safe to have your hair dyed in your first trimester? My regrowth is WAY out of control and I want to get it done but won't if there are any risks.
Does anyones hair feel thicker??? Weird question but I think mine actually does....or maybe it's the new Paul Mitchell shampoo I'm currently using...!

I couldnt work out when I am due so I used the BH due date calculator and it said I am due 16th Aug 07.
I just found out I am pregnant today, I am still in shock! I was TTC for so long and now it has finally happened! :smiliedance:
It is early days so I am worried about possible m/c but trying to stay confident and enjoy this new journey!
Some of you I already know from TTC but I am looking forward to getting to know everybody else and getting to know former fellow TTCers even better!

Does anyones hair feel thicker??? Weird question but I think mine actually does....or maybe it's the new Paul Mitchell shampoo I'm currently using...!
I WISH!!! I would LOVE to have thicker hair!
Helen - that is wonderful news, I'm so happy for you. 4000% woo hoo!!! :smiliedance:
A BIG welcome to Sergiosmummy, Liddy and Pebbles!
Pebbles - I saw your post in the December TTC thread. I'm so happy for you, I KNEW you would be pg!!
Fourboys - my early symptoms (before AF arrived) were sore (.)(.)'s, implantation spotting and cramping. I've still got the cramping on and off and my (.)(.)'s are very sore at the moment. I've also felt a little light headed and a bit icky in the mornings. That's about it so far, although today I was crouched on my knees looking for some documents at work and when I stood up I got this really sharp pain 'down there'. I wonder if that is normal.

Hello ladies, some of you may have chatted to me before but I've been inactive on the forum for a while with Jo my partner of 12 years being an active but silent daily member.... I have 2 sons 5 and 7 and 2 daughters 5 months and 17 months and as everyone keeps telling me 'We have our hands full' Well we'd like to join this thread as we just got another :bfp: dark blue line on a 'Clear Blue' test so theres no doubt that we've done it again due around August 6th :smiliedance: Colin

Congratulations and a big welcome to Renee, Melrose, Liddy, Pebbles and Colin!!!! :yelclap:
Pebbles our due date is the same. Whoo hoo!! How exciting!! Are you having any symptoms of morning sickness yet?
Anyone considered having accupunture in the first trimester? I'm thinking of having it as I truely believe that I'm pregnant because of the 5 treatments my DH and I had before I got my :bfp:
I'm just so excited at being pregnant after trying for so long that I'm having trouble sleeping. I keep waking up with butterflys in my tummy due to the excitment. Anyone else like this?
Look forward to hearing from everyone.

I am exactly the same, although we were only trying for 3 cycles, I wake up all excited and cant sleep. :D that usually happens at about 4 am, no wonder I cant stay awake long enough to cook dinner!
I have found myself getting up about 2am everyday and craving chocolate, once I have a little piece I am able to go back to sleep. Of all the things to be craving:o.
Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend!!

WOW Irish Dad... What is in the water where you are!!
I am having soooo much trouble sleeping. I think it is making me a bit cranky too (says DP:cool: ) And I also am having to get up at about 2:30am to get something to eat! Last night I made myself a cold milo and then when I went back to bed I was cold. So, I chucked the doona on and woke up a bit later on hot!! I can't win!!

Ladies, ladies! I have only been away from the computer for 2 days and so much has happened!
A Huge Congratulations and a big welcome to Renee, Melrose, Liddy, Pebbles and Colin  sorry if i missed anyone.
All good here - went to GP this morning and she has told me to have a scan on Monday. Woke up in the middle of the night last night with terrible cramping. it seems to have gone and she said it was probably nothing and she wants to err on the side of caution. It's very hard not to think the worse though. Feeling fine now and no spotting or anything so I need to calm down.
The boat trip was fine yesterday and I am feeling good, apart from a little tired and a bit queasy now and then.
Hope you are all well

Hi everyone, :o
Tara - I had some cramps yesterday and last night. I got a bit worried so I did another pregnancy test (I'm in that stage where I just want to keep checking!!). My HPT showed that the line is heaps darker then 3 days ago, so I'm very pleased.
I spoke to my doctor yesterday and she said to lay off the suppliments for a couple of days to ease my tummy so I didn't take them last night and I feel so much beter! My stomach doesn't feel heavy this morning and usually I wake up with diareehia and crampy pain. Last night I had a shooting pain down there as well and I was so worried. I won't take my vitamins until Monday now just to give my body a break. It won't matter just a couple of days as long as the cramps subside.
Oh my goodness I could just talk to eveyone all day on this website :ecomcity: . My poor DH never gets a chance to get on our computer cause I'm contantly surfing the net regarding anything to do with pregnancy....I must get a couple of books from the library!!!
Hope everyones doing well.

Helen - Yes very exciting. No m/s yet thankfully. I was very sick with my DS so I am hoping this time I wont be! They say every pregnancy is different so I hope thats the case for me! I am actually the opposite with sleeping, I had insomnia while I was on Clomid but since I found out I am pregnant I have been sleeping like a baby - anytime, anywhere! I think the stress of TTC is gone now and I just feel so content.

Oh Renee. My heart truly goes out to you. I have been where you are now and I know excatly how you feel. The only difference is that I am blessed already with a one child. PM me if you want to talk. This sucks big time. Really sucks
Congratulations to all the new mum's here too. I didn't have time to log on over the weekend - too many birthday parties to attend with DD and the heat! Knocked me for 6! I NEVER sleep during the day. Never. But yeaterday DH came home at lunchtime on Sunday to find me and DD sound sleep. We both slept for 3 hours! And I over slept this morning. Eeck! Didn't get into work until after 9am! DH is mega stressed though that I will lose this baby as well. He has never been so helpful. He said that he delibrately didn't wake me this morning as I obviously need sleep. I am so tired that I have brought in a pillow and will go sleep in my car today if I have too. Basement parking, dark and cool.
I feel sick and am off meat now. I was the same with DD. Craving anything salty (olives! yum!) and wondering how I'm going to get through work feeling like this.
Have to drive to Parkes this weekend to see my grandparents. Not sure how I will go....will take a bucket with me.

Well I made my appointment with my oby today. My girlfriend who is a doctor said to ring and book now as they are booked up big time here in Canberra and I am pleased to have gotten in hassle free. I think because he delivered DD helped. I still haven't seen the GP. I see her on Monday as she is on leave this week. I told the oby my history of m/c's and they said to phone them, not the GP, if I start to bleed.
I am feeling alot better today. Still a slight yuk feeling in the pit of my stomach but no dry retching like yesterday. Given the high 30's temperatures here, I am better off at work in the air con anyway. i swear the heat doesn't help my queasyness!

I had the bugger of having to find a new OB and hospital.
I was so happy with my OB in Melbourne (hospital could have been better), and now that we're in Sydney, I had to start all over again.

Hi Guys,
Um.. A little confused..
How do I got about organising an Ob? My GP said to make an antenatal appt with them... so will they refer me to an Ob, or do I just call the local hospital? Or do I have to find my own private one? I'm not a private patient though...
Last time I just went through the hospital.. but I'd like to know what other options there are... Is this the sort of thing I'd ask my gp??
I've been feeling sick pretty much constantly for the last 3 weeks... haven't :barf: though. So far so good.

Gret_bliss, with DS, my GP suggested I talk to my friends who had a bubs and were happy with their obs... I went to a public hospital as a public patient but saw an obs instead of a midwife...
You can either ask you GP to recommend and obs or ring the hospital for the obs on there staff... Or you can just go to the hospital and be seen by the midwives... Its totally up to you...
I hope that was some help, but got a feeling I just rambled sh!t .. LOL

With my DD my GP asked if I wanted to go public or private. I decided private all the way so on the recommendation of a friend, I selected an oby, my GP sent him a referal for me and we went from there.
This time I plan to see the same oby again, so I rang them yesterday and they are happy to book me in and await the referal from my GP when I see her next Monday. The fact that I am already on their books helped. I will be 35 in January and given the two mc's thus far I will be probably be considered high risk so I am best see a private oby for that. But its your personal choice.
Also, I was at a b-day on the weekend for one of DD's friends and a dad there said that my oby had delivered all his three girls and his wife had complications like hemaraging (sp??) with each baby. He said that the oby was fab so this confirmed my decidion to stay with my private oby even though I live on the otherside of town to him now.

I am so excited although I have been much more moody this pregnancy I haven't been very sick yet, and with my last bub I threw up the whole preg.

Hello Girls
Well, it's been an exciting couple of days. My parents were up visiting (they left this morning) so DH and I told them the exciting news that they will be grandparents next August. They were ecstatic.
Also told my 2 sisters and my aunty and uncle who were all also over the moon. It's the first grandchild on that side of the family, so everyone is really excited.
Still early days, but it's so hard not to tell the ones you love.
Anyway, so far so good. Haven't had any symptoms yet. Went to my GP on Monday and she took the "official" BT. I am going back to see her on Saturday to talk hospitals etc.
Hope everyone else is going well.
:xmas:

Gret this is spooky-
I'm sure your b/day's the same as mine and we're due 3 & 4 Aug- I'm making educated guess at my LMP so I too could be EDD 4.
Anyway, congratulations!

It's been a pretty badly kept secret Cel (I'm hopeless!), so probably!
As my family know how much I'm a BH addict I really couldn't risk one of them finding out I was preg by reading it on here. I'd feel pretty bad.

I was thinking about getting a diff name but I am really bad too and would let it slip:o

Hi Ladies,
Welcome and congratulations to Mandymoo & Jamb!!!!
Cel good luck with your digital test - :fingerscrossed: it'll come up 'PREGNANT'!!!
Prudie - When is your due date??
As for me I'm feeling sooooo hungry today. I'm in a much better frame of mind now as yesterday I was so cranky. I went to bed at 8.30pm last night so exhausted but woke up about 2.00am - 3.30am excited about being pregnant. Still no sign of m/s yet. I don't have sore (.)(.)'s either. So keep feeling a bit worried that I should be. Anyone else's not sore??
My DH and I have only told immediate family members on both sides and closest friends at the moment. Can't wait to tell everyone though, it's so hard holding back.
H xx

Hi everyone  and a BIG hello to all the newbies for August.
Well I am 6 1/2 weeks today but who's counting???
The m/s has stopped today and leaves me worried. I have been on the point of :barf: for the past week and now nothing? I was queasy this morning but it has settled down now and almost gone
No sore (.)(.)'s here I am afraid. They say that often happens to second mums. Working (.)(.)'s and after bf my daughter for 13months, they just snort at pregnancy hormones now!
Oh well, back to work and back to worrying about m/c's

Hi Ladies. Hope everyone is well and welcome to all the new BFPs.
I'm also 6 and a half weeks today. Definitely have sore boobs, a bit of nausea here and there (mostly afternoons), but nothing close to :barf: yet, so am pretty pleased with that. Very, very tired, but on the whole feeling really good and actually pretty positive. Have had no sign of spotting or worrying signs, so I don't see any reason to worry until my body give me reason to.
I really want to tell both our parents, but have decided to surprise them Christmas Day. But its soooooooo hard to keep the secret!!!

Chicken, my m/s has been worse in the afternoons too. I have been getting abit car sick too which I have NEVER had before. 30min drive to work and I'm feeling quite ordinary when I get there.
You are right. I see no sign of a m/c so I will try to put it out of my mind.

I was talking to my accupuncturist last night and told her I noticed feeling queezy from about 3pm, but that I felt fine in the mornings, and she said that was really common.
Sandy, all I know is that last time I was p/g, I was paranoid about having a m/c and I did. So worrying about it didn't help me at all. If I'm relaxed and optimistic about it this time, it won't stop me having a m/c, but it will reduce the number of days I spend not being happy.

Helenmac - according to the BH due date calculator, my EDD is the 08/08/07. But I my GP told me it's more like the 14/08/07.
I have booked in for my first ob appointment for the 17 January, so I guess I will find out for sure then.
My only symptom has been really sore (.)(.). But no m/s or spotting or anything....fingers crossed it stays that way!!!

Hi ladies,
I must say I'm waiting for the m/s to kick in too. I had it from the moment I got the:bfp: last time with DD but nothing so far. My (.)(.)'s have been a bit sore and tender but nothing to complain about.
The one thing I am noticing is that I am getting a pot belly already, won't be able to hide it much longer. I'm also getting a bit of tightness down in the lower region of tummy - hoping that it is just the little bubba settling and growing. Has anyone else been suffering from this tightness?
As I said in the 'scared' thread, I forget what symptoms there are in the first trimester as it has been 3 years since DD was born. So this is really like having number one again.
How rude of me. Welcome to all the newbie :bfp: , let's hope it will be an exciting path we are all taking together over the next 6 - 8 months.
Tara - I hope the u/s goes well today.
Take care.

I've still missed ms, but am suffering pretty badly with constipation- like last pregnancy. Atleast this time I was able to jump on it before it got too bad.
Been very tired- again exactly like last time.
One fantastic thing that happened last time and has already started this time (apart from no period LOL) is my great skin!!
My whole life I've had terrible skin, lots of blackheads and huge pores. I've always had to use Dermalogica products and regular facials to keep it in check but while I'm preg I can use the cheapest soap if I like and my skin's perfect!

Firstly, thank you everyone for your support and warm wishes!
I just returned from u/s (had an internal scan also) and all is good  YAY! bub is definitely in the uterus, it was too early to see him (?) but we could see the sac and she said everything looked exactly how it should. I am going again in 2 weeks which will be the 8 week mark for me.
Still no m/s symptoms - but I did sleep for 10 hours last night!
Thank you again for your kind words - you gals rock!!!
I hope everyone is doing well :)

Hi Ladies,
Chicken - You hadn't posted for a while I was wondering how you were!.....Glad to hear you going well. I'm definately going to try and take up your advise and be possitive and not obsess about a possible m/c. How often are you seeing your accupunturist. I've been once this week and I'm going again on Friday and then I'm booked in twice next week as well.
Livismum - Yes I'm getting a tightness as well!! I told my twin sister about it and she thinks I'm analysing it too much but I'm SURE it's happening. I think it's the stretching of ligaments that support the uterus. I'm having frequent urination too, are you experiencing that also?
Tara - Thats great news about your ultrasound!! I can't wait for mine which is on 27th December. At least it'll make my pregnancy seem more real. Especially when I'm not experiencing m/s yet.

Well I spoke with my SIL today, and it was so hard to not tell her!
Welcome to the newbies - Mandy, Bec and Jamb. Great to see you all here. I hope that you enjoy the next 8 or so months!
Well my (.)(.)s are SORE!!!! I am popping out of my bras. I think I may have to get the maternity bras out soon - how sad. I also feel queasy in the afternoon. This is actaully my 4th pregnancy, and it was the same with all. That's hoe I knew I was pregnant.
I am hanging out to tell people....bring on Christmas.

I've had a really emotional day... Went out to lunch with mum and my aunties and DS was playing up... Just kept screaming and wouldn't sit still... Took him outside to calm him down and then tried to bring him back in... Started screaming again... He just kept going, I didn't know what to do... I just started crying, which was real embarrassing becuase nobody knows I'm pregnant... I felt like a real fool, but I couldn't help it... Even an hour or so later, I rang DH and was going to tell him about what happened but I could feel my eyes well up again so I didn't..
Anyone else been real emotional lately??

Thanks for the reassurance helenmac. Yes I am going to the toilet a little more often than before. I know the tightness and frequent urination were expected but not this early....
That's great news tara. :fingerscrossed: everything keeps going as smoothly for you for the next 8 months.
Chicken I know what you mean about not blurting out the news of the pg. I am the same but I think we will tell our parents this weekend, otherwise I know I will let it slip by making a comment about it.
Just thought I would let you know that I made my first appointment with my ob today. It's not until the 16th January though. I was lucky because she is all booked out the first week of August. Thank goodness I'm not until the 18th.... The receptionist said I was getting in early but I think I may have nearly missed out if I left if much later.
I found out that we'll be out of pocket $2650.
Is that pretty reasonable? We weren't out of pocket anything last time, my ob was my GP and private health insurance & medicare covered it all.
Gee I can ramble on...:ecomcity:
Take care everyone.
