Hi,

I know I have seen a thread before on the above subject but I can't seem to find it now.

I am 24 weeks pregnant and on the weekend I noticed that I have quite a few new spider veins and my varicose veins are standing out a bit more. It's a bit depressing because normally I would use fake tan to cover them up a bit in summer but my obs has suggested against using fake tan.

I remember a year or so ago I saw an advertisement for a cream that made veins fade ( not sure if it really works) but I wanted to give it a go. I think it was called Vein Away or something like that. Does anyone know the product that I am talking about, or has anyone got any other suggestions?

Unfortunately, I know I take after my father and grandmother in the leg department and the thought of looking like them one day is frightening! I am after something that can help me now and then after I am finished having children ( probably 5 or more years) I will look into a more permanent measure.
Thanks

Bec

Hi there Bec,

I bought a tub of Vein Away for my wedding. It's supposed to be good for broken capillaries and as I had a couple on my face (I think due to using really aggressive facial scrubs over the years) I thought I'd give it a go. I used the cream twice a day (as per the instructions) for probably around 2-3 months but couldn't see any difference at all :(

I'm not sure whether it would be ok to use whilst you are pregnant, but I've looked at the list of ingredients and some of them look way out (ie. Isopropyl Myristate, Phytonadione USP etc). I'd definately check it out with my Obstretician before using it.

Don't Varicose Veins fade away once you've given birth?. I thought it was all the extra blood that pregnancy causes that makes them appear so obvious but they then fade afterwards?

My friend is 23 weeks pregnant at the moment and has developed a few Varicose Veins around her ankles (she also has abit of fluid though), she swears by Compression Stockings. I'm not sure if that is an option for you, but apparently they increase the blood circulation which may help the vein situation.

Sheridan :)
