Monthly Period

Hi girls :D

Does anybody know when's the average time to get your period back after having a baby if you're breastfeeding?

My son is 7 months old now and I still havn't got my monthly's. (Not that I'm complaining ofcourse!! :p ) I am now suspecting that I'm pregnant again because of it!

When did you get yours back? :o

If I can remember right mine took between 6 and nine weeks to come back after I stopped breastfeeding, and I thought that I was pregnant in that time as well! I had two periods whilst I was on the mini pill but was sooo moody and awful to live with that I gave them up and had nothing until after I got them back after stopping feeding.

Well I STILL haven't got mine and Felix is 18 months now!
I think it varies a lot but most mums have it back by about 12 months.
Enjoy it while it lasts I guess! :)

I was stil breastfeeding and got a very mild period at about 10 months. Came every 28 days after that, but very light. Seems to be extremely variable from mum to mum going by my friends.

Yes I agree it is variable. Between my friends we have had the return of the dreaded..... from 6 weeks to 2 1/2 years. All were breastfeeding mums for almost the whole time. One friend fell pregnant while she was feeding (without having a period at all) and the thing that she noticed was that breastfeeding got all out of whack and her supply suddenly reduced.

Thanx girls for all your help, although it didn't really help at all!! My supply of breastmilk has sort of declined a little...
Hmmmm, maybe i should get a preggo test done! :p hehe

Hey there!
Well I breast fed for 10 months and my periods took a good 4 months to return and I thought I was preggas too :confused:
I have now had 4 periods since and they are never that regular still :rolleyes:
Let us know if you are preg again!!

well, i did a pregnancy test, and i'm................ not :rolleyes:

i've also put my son on formula and stopped breastfeeding... long story short, i was desperate for sleep, 7 whole months of my baby waking at least 4 times a night, and thought formula might help by keeping him nice and full for longer....

anyway, i guess i just play the waiting game and see when i get my period.. :(

Don't panic.. I haven't got mine back yet either and I'm definitely not pregnant again.. ;) My son is six months old also.

I had my baby 8 weeks ago and am still spotting on and off. I have not started the Mini pill yet even though my obstetrician gave me the script. :confused: Is this normal???

I was bleeding for about 6wks after my c/s.

I think its all rubbish that you don't get your monthlys while breastfeeding. I stopped bleeding after 9 weeks with both my kids and then kept bleeding every two weeks which is really tiring...It all sorted itself out when I stopped breastfeeding though. Hmmm!! they joys of being a woman. :(

Thanks for all your replies! I regret to inform you that after not breastfeeding for just over a month, I got my first period back today :eek: I almost forgot that I was a woman!!!! :D
