...without loosing a finger
No, I mean how do I buy one?
....and what do I then do with it?!
Do I go to the shops the day before Christmas  and just buy one from a seafood place (we only have a couple in this area and are 350-400k's from the ocean) or is there some kind of ordering system?
What about Morten Bay Bugs and other yummy things like that?
Oh, I nearly forgot- Just around how much do they cost?
We are just getting the kids pressies this year and donating what we'd spend on the adults - so I thought that I'd get something flash for dinner that most of us havn't had before..
Thanks in advance!

You'll have to pre-order with your seafood shop beforehand, just to make sure you get one...and not one the size of a yabby!!!
Order everything in advance and then pick up the day before. Another question is will the cray be already dead or will you have to kill it?
The cost all depends on what the market is charging at the time...they'll be able to give you an indication though at the shop...they're expensive...but well worth it!!!!

i love lobster!
Im an ex deli manager for coles and i know that they generally get there lobsters from tasmania,but.......they come frozen, around christmas time they usually sell for around $10-$14ea. If you want fresh ones its best to go to a seafood shop. As for bugs, prawns etc they always have a variety of fresh and frozen. I hope this helps. Enjoy:D

Lobsters can vary greatly in cost from season to season/year to year/area to area. Generally you can expect to pay anywhere between $13-$25 for a decent one.
I'd suggest ordering however many you'd like from a reputable seafood place. Chances are if you live in a land-locked place, you'll get frozen ones, so you can either keep them frozen until the morning of the day you want them & then defrost them in the fridge or (the way I do it) in some tap water & a handful of salt, or if they come ready thawed, order in advance & pick them up the afternoon before & keep them in the coldest part of the fridge.
Bugs are a great alternative & are probably better value for the amount of meat you get, but it will be much the same deal with storage/ordering etc.
Bugs are really yummy!! We always get a few around Xmas.

Thanks so much guys!
I think that I'll call 'the' seafood place we have here and find out how they do things- fresh/frozen etc. I kinda like the idea of frozen, actually. I want everything sorted for xmas a few days beforehand..
And I'll google or ask around about how to cook them :)
