Yesterday i got a baby galah! :smiliedance:DH wants to teach it to say unsavoury things....typical . He is still being hand fed and is so cute!

However, i need an original name for him/her - don't know what sex it is, so a name that can be for both would be good (i can only think of male names though! LOL). Oh, and something that's easy for him/her to say is good too.

Please help? Suggestions welcome!

WOw how exciting. They are beautiful. We had one when we were younger but he got very nippy and we gave him away.

Are you going to let him fly free around the house?

Maybe call him Pinky? lol I dunno, its the first thing that came into my mind cause they are pink!

At the moment he is in a cage, and allowed out supervised (we have 2 cats). When he gets older he'll be in a big aviary outside and allowed in the house supervised.

Pinky is the name of my DD's comfort bear! He is pink too, very original....:D You can suggest others too, i'll take them on board! LOL

Hello

I voted JJ the Galah, JMO though

I've got 2 cockatiels - both are tamed, don't talk though they'd rather look in the mirror, vane little birdies i've got

They have a cage & tree - not locked in their cage until it's time for bed, rest of the day spent cruising around - we've also set up a ramp which leads from their area to the couch so they can cruise over when they want a pat/ to annoy me.

The dogs know not to go near them :shame: but it would be a lot harder with cats.

Not sure what sex each of mine are - but I have Harry 'HAZZA' MacGarry & Wiggles 'mcgiggles' Waggles  completely mad I know.... see i'm no help with names

I got Puffin off the 'Girls of the Playboy Mansion' show :o, that's what Holly calls Hef!! LOL Ah dear...tragic.

Jem_1981, one of my tame cockatiels Tiny (he lives in another aviary outside) sits at his mirror holding onto the little bell on it, and looking at himself and 'doing' the perch!! He talks a little bit and gives kisses and imitates the sound of water running when i fill their water dishes....it sounds real!

I just put my neighbours cockatiel in with our 5, for a while, and he imitates the phone ringing..thankfully it sounds nothing like our ring tone, otherwise it'd drive me bonkers...

I'm not really original with bird names either.....First tiel is 'Tiny' because he was only a couple of weeks old and so small when i got him, he's the tame one. Then i have 2 grey male tiels that look identical except that one birds topnotch curls up, so he's 'Curly', then the other got called 'Larry', 'cos Curly reminded me of the 3 stooges. The there's 'Grey' because he's grey, and 'Girl' because she's the only girl . They are/were my breeding pair. The neighbours bird is 'King'.

The first 2 budgies we got are 'Bluey' and 'Greeny', very obvious why... When we got Mackenzie's budgie, she culdn't think of a name, so she just called it 'Budgie', so when we got one for Charlee he got 'Budgie 2'...so now they are B1 & B2. LOL

I had a galah called Chester-Bert, cos he was found near Chesterfield road by my partner....

He talked, said F**k off, Hello, good boy bert, what are you doing, kiss, and lots more....and he loved his kisses.... unfortunately I sadly had to put him to sleep this year as he had cancer.......I was devestated...

Anyway back to your poll.....I chose Bundy, I too am a fan of the drink, and like the name.....

How much did he cost?????

Hehee, that first one is the phrase DH wants to teach him (it). LOL

He was (*whispers*) $200...:o That's about average around here unless you know someone that has a breeding pair. We have a big gum tree out the front with babies in it now, but DH refused to go up and get one for me....

We had one as a kid and his name was Max Squarker (cricket season!!) He was great

My uncle had one when I was really little and it lived in the kitchen. If you had to get up in the middle of the night it would wisper

"what ya doin, what ya doin??" It used to scare the heck out of me and sounded really creepy!!

By the way..love the name ollie!!

Ollie is a cute name :)
Off-topic, but I grew up with a Cockatoo- I called him Cocky :o Yes, very original and creative  He has a beak and feather disease and is a scrawny chook-type-thing with no feathers at all- just the stumpy feather bits- he looks like one of those vacume-sealed frozen chooks at the supermarket.. poor thing!
