I remember some of you did hand and foot prints for your hubbys for fathers day,and I'm just wondering what sort of paint you used? The only non toxic one I have found is acrylic,is that what you used and did it turn out ok?
I'd like to do DD's before she grows too big. :) Thanks

Timely question. I bought some non toxic finger paints and did some hand and foot prints yesterday. It was actually harder than I thought it would be, but fun.

We set up outside and I put ds in his wading pool (like a half shell) with just a singlet & nappy on. I put the paint on an icecream lid and let him play. He didn't really 'get it', but I managed to get a couple of reasonable hand prints. The foot prints were a bit of a big smudge.

When he had finished I took off his singlet & nappy and poured warm water in. Presto - instant bath. I found the paint stained his skin a little bit, and as we had used red paint he looked like he had bad patches of sunburn!! But it's all gone today.

Good luck.

Toyworld or places such as The Warehouse sell nontoxic. I agree, it's not as easy as it seems. Just make sure you don't put too much paint on their hands/feet. Maybe do a clay portrait as well??

 DONT use acrylic as it doesnt come off easily (usually have to peel it off) Use finger paint or poster paint!! They are usually non toxic to keep up with oz standards..

$2 shops big w Kmart etc all sell these paints I do a fair bit of painting and I am the president of a playgroup and this is where I go often and not bad prices...

Make sure you dont get acrylic paint near clothes  !!

tip - you tend to get a cleaner print if you apply the paint with a sponge (to the hand) ... rather than letting the munchkin apply it him/her self... but it DOES depend on how tolerant the kid is to this kind of 'help' !!!

hey good idea veve, thanks. :) I will have to make sure DD is in a good mood before I try to "help" her,(or is that her "help" me ?) otherwise I'll be the one wearing the paint.
