My beautiful DD is 4 months and has been able to roll over since she was 11 weeks old. She is now really good at rolling over onto her tummy and then back again ... I had a nasty shock last night though

I woke up to her screams at around 4am and when I switched on the light she had somehow managed to flip onto her stomach and slide her legs between the cot slats and was stuck.

Thankfully we got her out but she was a little distressed... not as much as me though! I am so grateful that she can lift her head quite well when she is on her tummy as this enabled me to hear her screams. A few weeks ago she couldnt lift it as much and she could have easily suffocated and I would not have heard her screams as they would have been muffled by the mattress

So even when you take the maximum precautions (as I do) these things can still occur

She still likes to roll over and sleep on her side in the cot and I am forever turning her back onto her back but if this is the small price to pay then I am happy

have you tried those things you can put in the cot that stops the bubs moving to far. .they have like a roll on each side? . .I had one for my little miss who had a tendency to move around and I just put it around her butt area and lower down so if she did roll she wouldnt get her top half stuck and be unable to breath. MIght stop any bad accidents with the cot sides.

My DD's started doing this recently too, it's quite distressing finding them like that, huh.
The last few nights after she's gone to sleep I've rolled up pillowcases and jammed them in on either side of her, it seems to stop her rolling whilst she's asleep, at least. She can pull herself over them when she's awake, but luckily (?) she gets a bit excited about rolling and screeches so we wake up to her anyway.
I've had the safety sleep recommended to me also, but DD's a little houdini and she'd probably work her way out of it.:wizard:
Good luck

this is an example but its for newborn to 6 months roughly... its called a head and sleep positioner which the baby cannot roll over

Thanks for that. Im not sure if it is going to be worthwhile buying though as DD is just about 5 months now and it can only be used up to 6 months can't it?

Yep, I used one of those things for both bubs and they worked wonders.
I was told by my CHN that if they start to move in the cot then it's not as bad as we tend to think. She said if they can roll over they can generally sort themselves out if you know what I mean?? But I definately understand being concerned, thats why I bought the roll thingy.
