Hi,
My husband, son and I are moving to Brisbane in Feb 05 from the UK. We have a 3 month old baby, and have been looking at baby stuff in Aus. We currently use pampers nappies, and SMA formula, but dont seem to be able to find these products in Australia? Does anyone know if pampers sell their nappies under alternative names? Hopefully they do - as our son Laclan does not appear to leak in pampers total care nappies, where he does in huggies.
Perhaps someone could suggest a good local brand on nappies and formula?
Thanks!
Jackie
Hi and welcome to bubhub. I am sure you and your family will love living in Brisbane.
For some reason I have a vague memory of the brand pampers but haven't seen that brand of nappies in the supermarket where I shop. I use a brand of nappies called Lullaby which I find quite good and a lot cheaper than Huggies which you can buy here.
I have never heard of SMA formula but maybe some of the other mum's here might have. I used Karicare Gold. I think it is manufactured by a New Zealand company. My SIL is a midwife and recommended it. It is about $18 a tin and the gold variety contains the long chain fatty acids - omega oils. You can buy a number of other brands like S26, Heinz, Nan, Lactogen. So there is a lot of variety in formulas.

Hi and welcome to this site, you will love Brisbane( I hope he he).
We do have sma formula here and im guessing that the nappies you have are called huggies here.I use babylove or cosifits which are around $15 for a decent size pack,I hope I have been of some help and if you want to chat to someone from Brissy you can email me or add me to your msn on chrisg78@optusnet.com this is for both. :)

Thanks for the tips!
We have huggies here too - the problem is our son Lachlan leeks out of the back for some reason, where as with the pampers he stays dry. I guess we will try them all out when we get there. Good news on teh SMA formula though, as at least we wont have to change that too.
We are very much looking forward to Brisbane - we visted a couple of years back and found it a far more relaxing place to be than Sydney of Perth!

Hi, we are new to Oz too and we also used to use pampers nappies and wipes in the UK and SMA. We now use Huggies and cloth nappies and are desperately trying to locate some Pampers as I don't find the huggies all that. Let me know if you come across any. Many of the formulas here have an awful lot of sugars added to make them palatable (adding to dental decay) Karicare is one of the better ones. How are you settling in. We're in Sunshine coast and love it!

Hi guys, and welcome! I use Snugglers nappies for my son...we've never had a problem with them. You can pick up a box for $20-$30 depending on what size. I get a box of 75 13-18kg for $30. I used S26 formula when he was a bub.
If you want to have a chat, you can catch me on msn messenger at schnapps82@hotmail.com or yahoo messenger at myrddin82@yahoo.com.au

Hi Nikk_and_Jak,
How excting for you to be heading to oz! I used Karicare gold and Karicare regular for my daughter, though it is one of the more expensive brands of formula. I alternate snugglers day time and huggies at night and find that works really well for us. Have only used huggies on my son and so far have no problem (though he is only 9 weeks old and not sleeping through the night yet so changed regularly).
Would love to hear more from you on the site once you arrive or you can email me at fclan@optusnet.com.au
Enjoy your trip! :p

Hello
We also moved to Brisbane from the UK in November so know exactly what you're going through. Really miss the pampers too and have tried Babylove and Huggies here and get leaks!!!
Anyway feel free to PM me if you need help with anything. It is a major change leaving all your friends and family but it is a wonderful place to live here and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Just get in touch when you're ready and we can meet up or whatever.
I have a 19mth old daughter by the way.
Good luck

Hi,
We have now been in Brisbane for a couple of weeks! Lovely weather. Despite being really busy organising everything, we are having a nice time.
We have been busy looking for more permanant accomodation, and have rented a house in Keppera, and move in soon. Anyone else in that area?
Lachlan is now 7 months old - and he is doing fine, although he has just started to teeth......
Look forward to hearing from anyone.
