Hi
Which kind of bib's do you prefer to use? The ones that do up with velcro, press studs, pop-over or tie up? Do you like plastic back ones?

My baby is teething and some are so thin, we use about 8 a day. Some velcro ones rub on the back of her neck. Tie-up ones are too heavy. Most pop-over ones are large and I find some studs break. I'm unsure which to buy her.

Thank you.

I like the pop-over ones with the ribbed neck bands for general drool catchers.

When DD#2 was teething, there were small plastic backed "collars" called dribble bibs which came in a 4 pack from Target, and they had adjustable metal pres studs - three, I think. I really liked those.

For feeding, I was always in favour of the towelling bibs with the sleeves which tied up at the back. Especially good when baby decides they can "help" to feed themselves, or for babies who are keen to treat pasta spirals with sauce as finger food.

I liked the larger pop over ones too with the ribbed neck but only those made from a good quality towelling. I also like the ones that Coles sell. They are basically just a face cloth with some string. I found these cheap, great for washing faces and providing good coverage. They weren't heavy in anyway either.

I prefer ones that pop over their head. Its easier to put on and take off. Also ones that cover the majority of their bodies!! Believe me babies make a lot of mess and the big ones cover everything! :D

This is what i'd like to see in a bib......
1.ribbed neck so can stretch and pull off with ease...i find velcro wakes bubby when taking it off.
2. waterproof backing and fabric front

finding a bib with these 2 qualities ..........IMPOSSIBLE!

I like the pop over one best.

I also prefer the pop over the head ones. Just easier than trying to tie or clip them on.

If DH is home & able to help then the "my darling" bibs are great. These, and the pop on ones are a great size.

i L.O.V.E the velcro ones - but they have to be cottom with the velcro not the plastic.
DSS has a few of the over the head ones but i find he hates it cause they get stuck on his ears when taking them on or off.....
Velcro ones for me a just easier to get off a squirming child

Definitely pop-over.

The velcro ones scratch the back of DS's neck and its too hard to tie one behind him when he is squirming.

Pop over generally give more coverage too, especially over the shoulder area, which is where a lot of the food goes when he turns his head!

I used to like velcro when ds was little, but now he pulls them off!! I do wish they'd make the pop over ones to have plastic back & fabric front!!! I'm with JenNT on that one!! We should invent it!! LOL :D

Definitley pop-overs! They cover bub's shoulders and tend to be a bit longer.

Depends on the stage bub is at. While he was small and dribbling, those little ones with the press studs were our fave. It didn't hide him behind an ugly bib since he was wearing on pretty much all day and I only wished it came with a waterproof backing.

Then DS started solids. It wasn't too messy at first and I liked the adjustability of the velcro ones. I found the bibs from Myer or DJ's to provide good coverage over the shoulders incase DS turned his head whilst spitting out food LOL without being too long.

Then he wanted to feed himself  so the ones with long sleeves came in really handy to prevent full clothing changes with each meal.

Ideally, these days I'd like to have snaps/press studs that were adjustable (like on my nappies) so that they could grow with DS. A terry loop type fabric is best because it actually catches the stray food instead of just running down the plastic bibs onto his pants. Thin plastic backing to prevent his clothes getting wet and made of non absorbant synthetic fabric (like polyester) for quick drying. I also want something that's colourfast so I chuck it in the machine with an ordinary load of washing.

I'm not a fan of popover bibs because DS has a largish head and a small neck so they are either too hard to get on or leave a gapping hole under his chin.

I love the pop over the head ones. I wont bother buying the velcro or press-stud ones anymore.

Ones with thicker fabric I find are better as they protect the clothes better buy soaking up more milk/vomit. :)
