Hi guys:wave: ,

Well I have been trying to give up the smokes now for about 6 months. Lasted 3 months the first time and then a week the last time.:(

Had my last one yesterday. I just cant justify the $$$ behind it and also the health implications. And the boys having to smell the disgusting smell!:barf:

So, today is day 1 and so far I have been fairly moody, getting a bit angry about nothing.
Its going to be interesting as DH is quitting too, two grumps in the house for a while I imagine. Though havent really wanted a smoke, its just the times I usually have one I feel a bit edgy.

Anyway, if anyone wants to join me here feel free!

Good on you! Lasting 3 months is no easy thing. I am actually a smoker so I can't give advice, but I am going to try along with you  ... ...
(a little undecided!)

I have only been smoking for 2 year but can definetly feel the effects it is having on my entire being, health wise, emotionally etc.

Are you going to use patches or gum or anything? I haven't used them yet but think I will have to look into it for sure. The last time I tried to give up I only lasted a week:thumbsdown:

I look forward to hearing how you are going.

Hi,

I am trying to go cold turkey, I just cant stand how I feel after having a smoke now. Its like my body has said thats enough. Afterwards I get a headache and everything.

Day 2 today - not really having much trouble, except for when I usally have one. Just trying to keep busy!
Last night was bad, I think just cause of the stress of the kids at night, they are both bad to settle, so its moments like those you could cave...but so far so good.

Sabomum - thanks for your encouragment!!!

Hi I just wanted to offer my support. I quit cold turkey last week when I found out I was pregnant.

I just keep thinking Im doing it for my baby.

When I was preg with DS I also quit smoking however once Id stopped breastfeeding I took it up again for something to do instead of eating.

Goodluck!!

Im supposed to have quit. but i have been having smokes at work. I know all the reasons to quit, but it doesnt make it any easier. My reasons: my health (doc told me i have to quit smoking for my PCOS and for the suspicious looking cells on my cervix) also because i want a bubs, cant justify the money, my partner hates smoke (he has never smoked) and so many other reasons. Why cant it be easier.Good luck to you. you can do it.

i stopped smoking as soon as i found out i was preg with DD..

started again when she was around 9 months of age (after i knew i had PND.. ) i found it helped ease my anxiety, though i hated smelling like an ash tray

i stopped in oct 06... only have one now and then, but recently my anxiety has worsened and im finding myself dreaming of buying another packet

Good on you..............today is day sixteen for me without da fags. I've gone cold turkey and I feel great (lots of water with lemon, big walks and deep breathes).

Getting the bod ready to make another bub. Gave up for eighteen months last time, three months prior to conception and then some. Took it up again when I was very stressed.

Hope it's for good this time.

Keep it up, thinking of you

Is that it?

Is that the total of every one who wants to quit?

I dont believe it? ( To quote somebody more famous than me)

I want a ciggie!

I want one now

Lets try not to be judgemental

Just supportive

Bet you cant do

Lets try and keep this purely for those who smoke and would like to stop ......but cant ha ha ha

I haven't had one now for 4½ years, I went totally anti, can't stand the smell of it, can't stand to be around people doing it.. hahahah... a reformed smoker one of the worst!

So I can offer you some support, good luck with it and if you really want to give up ... you can do it!

Wishing you all plenty of support, it is a tough road but you can do it.

I too went cold turkey, after previously trying with patches and gum. I personally think it's the best way. My personal opinion is that with the patches you are still addicted to the nicotine and as long as you have a nicotine addition you'll crave a smoke, anyway that's what it was like for me.

Giving up is the hardest thing I have ever done but I've been smoke free for over 5 years now and feel great. So best of luck to all you lovely ladies you won't look back!
