Could it be Chicken Pox?
DS has been unwell since monday (grizzly, unsettled) then on weds he had high temps all day, thurs. he had runny poos and just now when I gave him his bath I have noticed tiny red spots on his chest, groin area and back.
DS does get eczema but has been free of it for about 4 months now and he usually gets a raised dry patch/ rash kind of thing not spots and his never had eczema around his groin area or his tummy.
Could he have chicken pox? I thought he was just teething really badly but maybe its something else.
Any help would be a god send, as I cant get to the doctors till tomorrow
it could easily be chickenpox.... from what you have said...
it definately starts on the torso... (usually tummy... then onto back)
I think the only treatment is calamine lotion (which is supposed to stop the itching... it sometimes does) - and I think you can also give a pinetarsal (spelling) bath ... not sure if there is an age limit on the pinetarsal stuff...
I would take him to a chemist (if possible) - they can look at the spots and straight away tell you what they are... and will be able to offer you solutions on the spot...

It could possibly be CP. I'd get him checked out by a GP to be sure.
Pintarsol is safe for babies as long as its diluted correctly. You can also use salt in a warm bath to help with itching. Calamine Lotion is an old favourite :). Some antihistamines can be helpful too (but I'd keep it simple).

Well there seems to be alot of signs pointing in that direction. Is the spots itchy for him? Its probably advisable to go to the doctors tomorrow. I believe any form of rash on a child should be checked out.

Hi girls thanks for your replies :)
I was chatting to my mum last night about it and she said that CP is more like little blisters on the skin and that it sounds more like measles to her so I will check his little body this morning when he wakes and if there still there I'll be heading straight for the medical centre.
Hi my baby who is 7 months had high temps, and was unsettled. Friday morning i took him to the Dr. as i thought the spot's looked like Chickenpoxs, but it ended up being Roseola Infantun. My Dr, Gave me some information i thought i would share it with you as it may help. The Symptoms have 2 stages, 1st stage - High Temps. Mild Diarrhoea, Cough, Earache. 2nd stage-Normal Temp. & a appearance of a rash.

Thanks for that Orlando's had all of those symptoms, but arent they supposed to get a red rash on their cheeks or something? I might check it out on the net and see what I turn up just in case.
Any way I went to the medical centre and the doctor thinks DS has had a severe allergic reaction to something, dont know what as his on a very strict diet due to his eczema. He told me to give him some phenergen to settle down the reaction. So I gave him 2mls and he fell straight to sleep.
Hopefully his skin will settle down in a couple of hours or a day or two.
Thanks for all your help :)
