I was a good semariton (sp?) yesterday - I adopted a cat from a shelter!
We were planning on getting a cat for DD at Xmas time, so she has a pet to grow up with. But we went to the Sydney Dog's and Cat's Home yesterday and this gorgeous thing was just begging for us to take her home, so we did..
Her name's Sheba (though we may change that), and she's a black and white domestic medium hair. She's 10 months old, and she has the most beautiful nature. She happily let DD "pat" her (although, a 5month old's pats are more like slap, grab a fistfull of fur and pull..), and she made herself right at home. She went straight to her litter box first go, no accidents overnight, and she's just lovely.
Hopefully she'll instill a sense of calm into our household, or if not, at least she doesn't mind getting harrassed by DD..

Welcome Sheba!! :smiliedance:

Congratulations on the new addition to your family!!! May Sheba bring plenty of love and laughter into your lives.
I rescued my puss-cat at 2 weeks old and he is the happiest, healthiest and most spoilt cat in the world now!

I'm sure Sheba will have you wrapped around her little "paw" in not time :p
