Well we had to take our tree down... i was so upset we have a new tree & all this yr.. But we had to take it down as the kitten kept jumping in it & breaking it... then phoenix would go over & push it over. So instead of them breaking it...we took it down... Thanks god we will be in sydney with my family for xmas.

We haven't even bothered this year, as the cats would wreck it, and Charlee is at that lovely 'destroying' age too. We're not going to be here for christmas day, so no pressies under it, so we'll just wait 'til next year.
Doesn't make Christmas any less special by not having the tree up. You can still have lots of other deccies up!

DH and I contemplated not putting the :tree: up this year seeing as how destructive DS is already but we decided it wasn't fair on DD if we didnt have a :tree:
So we put the :tree: up and bought some expandable lattice from Bunnings and put around the :tree: and so far it has worked, its only been up since Saturday but DS just sits in front of the lattice and looks at the tree.
If we didnt put the big xmas tree up we were just going to get a small one to sit on top of the TV Unit so at least we still had a tree.

We have resorted to a small tree on the bench...due to cats and children. Its much easier and I know its only temporary until the kids are bigger. I put it up later than the usual time...usually around the 12th december...then I'm not picking up christmas balls all month.
We're not having a tree up this year either. No point considering DS is at that age where he loves to destroy stuff and plus we are about to move, so there's no point putting the tree up just take it back down again
We have a real tree in a large pot that's almost impossible to tip over. My cats love crawling through it and pulling the tinsel.
It's a personal choice thing, but I don't mind. Yes it does mean I have to buy new tinsel every year, but it's fun watching them play and they have fun doing it. Well worth the ten bucks of tinsel I buy.
We don't have balls though, both because of the cats and I think this years the cats may be joined by a little destructive helper.
I can't wait for Christmas this year. Miss J will be able to really participate and I can't wait to see her little face.
Friends of mine put their play pen around the tree.
