Your Feeding Style??.....

Hi!
I was interested in starting a thread to get all different kind of BF stories and styles!
I have so many questions regarding BF and thought the best way would be to get everyones story to see how they do it! ;)
EG. My friend used to only feed from one breast per feed, and put something on her shirt IE nappy pin, so she knew which one she last used.

ive heard mums that feed from both breasts a couple mins each side or some mamas that have very long feeding babes. etc..

So i was just interested in gathering stories, and information that i thought might be useful!! thanks so much

I've always fed from both sides. Andrew feels ripped off if I only give him one!

We started that way in the hospital. Midwifes taught me to feed from one side for as long as he would take it, burp and then offer the other. Then start on alternating sides each time.

I don't follow the alternating thing strictly though, just whatever is comfy at the time. Plus bub definitely has a preference for the left, so usually I will try to remember to start on the right.

He was a long feeder in the beginning 30 mins upwards. But for the last 4 months or so he is a bit of a speed feeder and sometimes it is all over in about 10 minutes. Which is nice for him, but I do miss having longer to cuddle him for!

He's very sweet about it these days too - he cuddles in towards me and looks up with the cutest smile and shiny eyes. Awwww.

at the beginning i was swapping sides until i was told by the health nurse to give him oe side per feed as he wasnt putting on any weight so she thought he wasnt getting all the hind milk? then starting him on the other side for the next feed so he was draining each boob each feed... i found this to work... but if he needed it i would give him the other side... man i miss breast feeding... at 6.5 months he weaned himself totally to formula :(
