ok start with about two tablespoons of butter and around 4 tablespoons of icing sugar it takes a while to get it to the right consistency but it will happen:D

I put milk into mine as well, it makes the icing into a more whipped texture. I can use a cup of icing sugar as well but thats when Im decorating a whole cake. I will make a whole lot of plain icing then take a tablespoon here and there for flavouring and colouring in order to decorate it.

Cream Cheese icing is a nice alternative too. Very rich and creamy!!
Use 100g Philly cream cheese
3/4 cup icing sugar
1 tab hot milk.
Beat together and flavour with things like cocoa powder, lemon or orange juice/rind depending on your choice of cake!
