yeah, a couple ;)
My favourites as a kid:
1. We put our shoes out Christmas Eve, and in the morning Father Christmas had always left a little bag of chocolate coins in them! Very exciting.
2. Going to the park to pick up windfall pinecones, which were then used to make decorations with. Sometimes we'd paint them gold and pile them in the fire place, sometimes hang them from the tree. (or use them in wreaths)
3. Making wreaths from willow tree twigs (from the park) or the young pine tree shoots, for the front door together, and sometimes we'd make them for our bedroom doors too.
4. Making paper loop chains to hang across the living room, then as each Christmas card arrived in the mail we'd staple it to a link, and have a lovely room decoration of all the cards by Christmas day!
5. Making gingerbread houses for all the family!!! This is such fun, and makes a great inexpensive present too.
I think that anything you do each year becomes special, as they just have so much fun knowing it all leads to Christmas :xmas:
We would pick some grass for the reindeer and leave it out. We would also do the old cruskits and milk for Santa.
Dad would (and still does!) read us "The Night Before Christmas" and we would get all excited!
We also made decorations and helped mum with the pudding.
That's all I can think of for now.
Oh, and we have our own special stockings which we still use...

1) My DP does this also...this year we are going to be reading the Australian version, that we found at Myers...while they listen to the story the kids drink Egg Nog
2)On Christmas eve we have a get together with close friends and give the kids their pressies..
Oh i thought of one:idea: From the 1st of dec we would put up the tree, but also put on christmas pillow case on our pillow until the end of the month.

I started doing it for DD#1, nowI do it for DD#1, DD#2 and DS.
Every year, they get to choose a christmas decoration for the tree at the shops. When they leave home, they will be able to take those decorations with them.
DD#1 will be 16 soon, and between the ones I have bought for her each year, and the odd ones she has been given, by the time she leaves home, she will have a good start on decorating her own tree.

I've started this too (a friend of mine did it for her kids .. I loved the idea) .. I write Jack's name and the year on the back .. so that he and his (eventual??) siblings can tell the ornaments apart!!
Cel- eggnog can easily be made without the grog (for a while there you could buy it at the shops with the chocolate milks!!!)
