Hi,

Max is 6months and isnt showing any signs of crawling, trying to sit up. Max rolls along the ground easily, turns over, does this sky dive thingy for 5secs but thats it...

I reeeeally want him to sit up and crawl...( i know that sounds silly as once their moving their moving and theres no stopping them)

When did your bub start to do these things??

Hiya

Dont' stress about the crawling yet - most bubs dont' do it until closer to the end of their first year (or later).

My bub has been sitting up independently for a few months now, and is 8 months old. I used to prop him up a lot with pillows around him, or sitting between my legs, or on my knees. He loves it, playing with his toys and looking around.

Has also been rolling for quite a while, but isn't really interesting in doing it for fun - just when he wants to get off his back or tummy.

Mine isn't showing much interest at all in crawling - he much prefers to walk. For about a month he has been walking around holding onto our hands. He's getting pretty good at it. I think he's keen to get going on his own, sometimes he is practially jogging away!

Don't stress about milestones - enjoy them while they're immobile - it just gets more and more exhausting the more they move!!

My wee man is six months and just learning to sit and only just got up on his hands and knees a couple of days ago. I was the same stressing about him being mobile and DH especially wants him to start crawling so they can play together but I'm trying to chillout about it now as I have talked to so many mums lately (on these chat sites)and each of them has children at varying degrees of physical development. Some bubs were crawling at 4-5months and others were crawling at 9-10months so I consider what your bub is doing to be normal!
It has nothing to do with their intelligence or their future physical abilities as they all seem to even out eventually.

My little girl is 7 mths & shes not crawling yet either, She has been sitting up by herself for about 2 months & rolling around 2 & a 1/2. Every baby is diffrent so dont stress to mush about it for babes will do it when his ready & anyway they grow up to fast so just sit back & injoy watching him learn......

My little man didn't crawl till about 10months and didn't walk till about 15months. I know all my friends/family said it's fine, but considering I'm a therapist that works with everyone else's kids - I did worry (until he started walking when I knew that others would stop scrutinising as closely). It goes to prove that you can give the best environment for your special person to develop and they'll still do it at their own pace. I was particulary worried as all other kids in our playgroup seemed to be crawling at about 5months and walking at about 10months. DH just said that our playgroup was on steroids

I also did a video with a lecturer I work with (hoping to show off DS's talents) at about two weeks before he started walking - for her to show her students "normal development". I told her yesterday that he had been walking for a few weeks now - she said good, some of the students thought that he was delayed - so they'll be glad to hear that he's doing well! (Privately we both agreed that he isn't delayed). I've also had the same discussions with Speech therapist friends worried their bubs aren't talking enough and physio friends worried their bubs aren't walking enough :)

As everyone says (I know - I was worried too!) he will do it when he's ready! However, there is no harm in presenting him with an environment to assist him to develop his skills.

PS If you do want a program of activities to assist in encouraging sitting and crawling etc. I'm happy to provide - I am a registered OT with heaps of resources.
