Is it a requirement to have a Santa photo with at least one child crying??

I remember back when we were kids, there was a few with one of us three balling our beady little eyes out, and to be honest, a few of mine with the kids have one child screaming.......

Last year I just told them to take the photo, Lex didn't want to be a part of it, so she is standing in front of Santa, head down crying....but it is cute!!! She will look back on that photo and laugh at how silly she was....this year she said she will visit Santa without crying!!!

So, do you get them snapped even if a child is crying?:xmas:

We don't have photos taken with Santa but who can blame the crying child, I wouldn't want to sit on some guys lap that I've never met and have my photo taken!

Don't know if it is nationwide or just our area..... but the kids no longer "sit on" Santa's lap, they either stand in front (like our one last year) or sit beside santa if his chair is big enough.....

Caitlin last year was horrified she couldn't sit on his lap!!

Thats so cute! At least she will be able to laugh about it when she's older!

Thats a classic. I would still get the crying pic, its part of childhood to be forced to sit on some weirdly dressed strange man's knee while being warned against it for the rest of the year. :xmas:

oh my goodness SHED!! I think we finally disagree on something! :p

Last year was the first year Vallerie really wanted to get close to Santa, before that she would always stand arms length away and kinda squeeze my hand the whole time. I won't push her to go near him if she doesn't want to. And if she cries (she did on her second christmas I think) I scoop her up and we leave straight away. I'll be the same with Curtis.
I will probably get boo'd and shouted down for being "whatever" but I'm not going to laugh at my kid being distressed.

queen, we don't necessarily disagree. My theory is untested.

Lets see how long I last with my kid crying first...

I agree .. at LEAST half a frikken hour .. grrrrrrr (there were only about 6 people in front of us .. but there were just SOOO many photos to be taken!!) - Santa with one kid... Santa with two kids .. Santa with the two kids and their cousin ... Santa with the two kids and mum and dad.. FAAAR OUUUT!!! we need an express lane at the Santa seat- for those people who just want a single shot of santa .. one child... FAST!!!

ok .. rant over .. I got a fairly decent shot .. (and .. :D it WAS free) - he isn't smiling .. but he does look bewdiful :D

We haven't gotten a Santa photo yet... partly because I'm scared she's gonna cry. I think I'll brave it though - at the very least, it'll be something to laugh about in the years to come.

Last year she had one taken, but was only 4 and a bit months old... so she didn't even care.

The first 2 years we got them for DD, when she really didn't know any different, but we didn't push it when she didn't want to go for her 3rd Christmas, but she's slowly coming round now - she's not too fussed on him 'close up', but she still wants her photo taken with Santa :xmas:.

This year will be interesting, as I'm sure she'll be encouraging DS (the 6 month old!) that Santa's not a bad fella afterall and that he should smile for the camera!

For the 'NO CRY SANTA SOLUTION' Last year we met the nicest and trickiest Santa ever year.

The grandparents were desperate for the obligatory Santa photo of DS (a week old) and DD (just turned 2).

DD cryed and protested as she walked into Santa's space so without missing a step Santa said 'thank goodness your here, I just need to go and feed my reindeer, they are sooo hungry, will you, your lil bro and Daddy sit on my chair and keep it warm while I'm gone please?'. DD agreed and the photographer chatted with her about hungry reindeer's for a bit, told her how gorgeous she was and asked if she could take a photo of her with just daddy and DS. As DD smiled Santa sprung up from behind the chair with a huge grin (disappearing again before DD was any the wiser). The photo is quite lovely and it looks like they are all happily posing together.

I suspect Santa might have had to pull that trick once or twice before ;) :xmas:

I took Eliza last week she was all smiles she sat on Santa's knee and looked a bit like "errr whatcha doing mummy" as I backed away the woman took the picture and then she went HYSTERICAL And I grabbed her it took 20 minutes to calm her down she rarely cries could be from the shock of crying lol she doesn't like men with beards anyway, nor does she like people with glasses Friggen Santa had both. she got a colouring book...wow she really enjoyed that:rolleyes:

Yanno when I was a kid we're talking 25 years ago lol you got given half decent present by Santa like a dolly or a car what happened where we saw santa it was an extra $5 for a present which were all the same BOOORRRRIIINGGGG

I would never force my kids to have a santa photo done if they were scared of him. We get one done every year, but we are missing a couple because the kids were scared of him.

And I think it is so wrong that kids can't sit on his lap anymore. As if he would do anything while there are hundreds of people looking at him.
I do have one of Matthew on his lap (but he was only 6mths old) and he is sound asleep, we waited 50mins in line so by the time we reached the front he had fallen asleep in my arms for the first time ever.

Both my kids sat on his knee.
So maybe only some santas dont do it..??

i would personally try to insist ... I dont get the big deal really .. the kid is NOT ALONE with Santa .. Mum is what .. about 3 feet away??? seriously ... get a grip (society) ... this PC stuff is going WAAAY to far .. :barf:

Sitting on Santa's lap is a fantastic thing as a kid ... its part of the AWE ...

:( stoopid things make me sad ..

Next year I'll have 4 kids getting a santa pic, so with any luck I can have 1 on each knee and 1 on either side of the chair.

Another thing I hate though, is the Santa we get here has bloodshot eyes and wont smile, he looks like he's had a big night out or something. Maybe the one this year will look better.......I'll find out in the middle of December I guess (that's when he arrives...ggrrr).

Im not even going to attempt a santa photo this year DD is scared of strangers and I would rather not make her cry. I am going to put santa hats/deer horns on the kids and take pics and send them to rellies instead of the usual santa pic.:xmas::reindeer:

I'm glad someone said it. I always sat on Santa's lap, as did my nephew's & neices. IF MJ doesnt want to sit on his lap then i'll sit next to him with her

Oh & Pixie, i took MJ to Myer yesterday & she got a teddy bear on a lanyard i think its called. On the foot it has Myer 2006. That was without a pic too. I'm taking her to talk to santa everytime we go to the shops, then when she likes him i'll get the pics taken

growing up we had that problem with my sis alot there are some yr where mum is in the photo with us not me though according to mum I used to just wonder off and mum would be looking for me and I would be chatting away to Santa

When I took Mia out to DJ's Santa is in a magic cave and while we were in the line she just walk to the front of the line and went in lol it was like a half hour wait in the line so I don't think anyone else in line was to happy.
