I want to tell EVERYONE now!

I have told a two close friends. Will probably tell work before I go on Holidays (22 Dec).

Last pregnancy I told them early (6 Weeks) and they appreciated knowing earlier.

I am between 5 and 6 weeks, and I had to tell my boss today, because I'm really worried about catching CMV from my workplace (with children). She was really great and said I could take time off until I was past 3 months to be on the safe side... so now I'm at a bit of a loose end, with lots of free time on my hands!!

I didn't want to tell anyone until I was about 3 months, I wanted to enjoy having a little secret with DF, but he was so desperate to tell everyone! So we told family and friends when i was about 8 weeks.

As for work...I was finishing up my degree and had a 10 week practical to complete working with kids, so I had to tell uni, and the unit manager, and the co-ordinator of every shift I worked and my preceptor, etc etc etc etc. I felt like a broken record by the end of my 10 weeks! :p

Plus it also depends on how difficult it will be for your manager to replace you...they might appreciate knowing now so they can start looking for and training someone else to replace you for your maternity leave?

Cheers and Congrats!
Carly.

We were going to wait till i'd had my ultrasound, but in the end we had to tell people who were anxious about booking things for our wedding next year, which is nw being posponed!

So everyone knows already!

I told work at 3 months with both the others, this time i told the kids, they are my work now

Have told a few close friends and my family.

Will tell hubbys family closer to Xmas, or at least after the 8-10 week mark.

Plan on telling work when i go back after holidays 2nd week of january which works out to be 12 weeks by my calculations.
There are already a few at work that do know, but they are friends so its all good.

I just want to blert it out!!

What is CMV? Just wondering if it's something (yet another thing!) I need to worry about!!

I'm not sure when I'm expecting yet (still!) so I guess I'll wait til I have my ultra-sound and find out.

We haven't told anyone yet (don't know how I've managed - everyone keeps asking me when we're planning to have #2 for some reason!). With the first bubs we told family at 8 weeks and some friends. I told work at 12 weeks.

This time around I guess I'll just tell everyone at 8 weeks (since there's no work at the moment anyway)!

I don't think most people need to worry about it, but it is cytomegalovirus, which i think most adults have had. If you've already had it, and get it again when pregnant, then there's only a small chance it will do any harm.
Unfortunately, I am one of the few people who hasn't had it, which is bad news if i get it while pregnant.
The only reason i know about it and am worried is because child care workers are at the biggest risk, as snotty little children spread it around etc!!!
I just thought better safe than sorry, and my boss was cool, so i'm glad i made that decision.

Thanks kej

How do you know if you've had it or not? I've never heard of it!

Not sure if it's something I need to worry about or not - I'm a preschool teacher (4 and 5 year olds)

The doctor can do a CMV test, and it will tell whether you've had it before or have a current infection. I think it's more of a problem with younger kids, as they excrete it in urine, faeces, saliva etc, they have accidents, touch other kids and just spread it around. If you're careful and wash your hands ALL THE TIME then it should be ok, especially if they're toilet trained.
It might be worth double checking you've already had it to feel a bit better about it.

I have just officially put in notice to leave work.. I know its still a bit early to say anything but they all pretty much knew anyway so regardless I have told them I am leaving at the beginning of May. PERMANENTLY!!! :smiliedance: Very exciting!

Figure that even if I do go back to work at some stage I want to be in something different, this job wears me down way too much.

I'm a bit disappointed that I've had to tell so many people early, as I wanted to wait 12 weeks and be all excited and say 'surprise'!!!
But since having to leave work due to risks in the 1st trimester, i've had to explain to 3 close work friends and my family why i'm not working.
Oh well, we'll wait until Christmas to tell the in laws and all our friends.

We've told both sets of parents and a couple of close friends but we're waiting til the first scan to tell everyone else. That's at about 13 weeks. Can't wait

Hubby's family already know, not by choice. When I did my pregnancy test at work I thought they were out of the office so i walked in waving my pregnancy test in excitement with both my inlaws looking at the test and realising I was pregnant. Then they decided they would tell the rest of the family.

My inlaws are my work - so my job is flexible.

Will tell portia and Jett at chrissy because I will be 12 weeks and will also tell all our close friends after chrissy as well.

Oh shucks :o :hugs:

Well i told my admin manager and the sales manager at work today, we were having a chat, well i was having a whinge about one of the other ladies there, and it was brought up about what we will be changing in the next few months, and i sorta just said well, come another 7 months-ish i will be on leave so i dont care at this point in time (this was about the lady lady not about the changes as a whole)
But im not actually planning on telling the directors that im a PA for until January.
Then again ill see how excited i am after the scan on Thursday!!

I know how hard it is to keep it a secret - and everyone seems to be asking me when we're going to start trying for another on - so it's particularly hard to not say anything then! Also hard to keep coming up with excuses for not drinking alcohol (or more importantly coffee for me)!

We were going to wait until at least 8 weeks to tell everyone but now that we've seen the u/s and found out it's 7 weeks we're still going to tell everyone now (mostly cos I know I can't wait any longer).

I tried (real hard) to not say anything to anyone. I failed. I am going to tell the rest of my family tomorrow and DH will ring his family tomorrow night.

Feels real now!!
