I havent b/f ds for aboout 4 weeks now and I really want to be able too. I tried expressing to bring my milk back on but it ripped my nipples apart. Just wondering if anyone has been given anything by the doc to bring on the milk again and if so, what is the cost. I would love nothing more but to breast feed my son :(

Hi Rian,
Sorry to hear things haven't gone smoothly :(
There is something called "Maxalon" which is frequently prescribed to increase milk production.
I'm not sure how much it costs, though, surely it would be under the Pharacuetical Benefits Scheme?

Oh, and until you get to the doc, have you tried attaching him to see if he will suck? Let him use you as a dummy even. If he sucks enough you should get some milk happening

I would talk to the ABA (I think they have a book specifically on relactating) or a LC. This is a specialist area and I think you will need good advice.

Cheers

Mine was $14. I used it for nausea.
