Hi there all... Well yesterday I done a home pregnancy test and it came up positive... But as I thought I had done the test wrong I done another this morning and sure enough, I'm Pregnant... Yet why do I still feel like I am going to get my period? And the only symptoms that I have is I am a couple of days late and my breasts are puffy(they usually get big, sore and then deflate) this time they are still big but not really sore or tender... So this, and just some stomach weirdness that I can't explain is making me feel like, perhaps it could be a phantom pregnancy... Am I just shocked and in denial? I mean I know we had planned to have a baby, but It's all too weird... Has anyone else felt as strange as I do, and feel these similar feelings  Would love any advice... Haana

Hey there,

Congratulations! :D They say that every single pregnancy is different, so this may all be part of this pregnancy...

Apart from that, all I can suggest is that you go see a doctor and get him/her to check you out and give you a blood test - amazing things those blood tests, but they're horrible to get done huh?!

Let us know what happens ;)

Hi Haana

Congratulations :D We love great news. From memory the pain you describe sounds normal. Baby 3 stands out the most for me as she was unexpected. I was convinced I had a stomach bug until I went to a shopping centre smelt the food smells and felt very nauseous :p

Well done! But like the others advise, just to be sure, get a blood test done.

My second one started like this one has for you. In fact I bought a preg test and a packet of tampons at the same time because I was feeling so weird about the whole thing and it was completely different to my first. I just thought I was in for a heavy period.

It also felt different to my 2 miscarriages. Both of them started with very strong pregnancy signs (sore breasts, bloated, nausea and a very enhanced sense of smell) which then stopped completely and suddenly a few days before I miscarried.

I'm sure you will be fine. Let us know how you go.

Dear all, Well, thankyou for all your thoughts and advice, Unfortunately though, I did go to my G.P. and showed her my tests that I had done at home, She did a test and it came up negative and my breasts are no longer sore, just much bigger than usual... My G.P. believes this is a sure sign I will miscarry, I think she is right, much to my dissapointment... I am all good though, I just wish that if it is going to happen it would hurry up and do so... She did offer me a blood test just to be sure, but I decided against it as then I would know for sure, and this way I can just think I am having a late period... Am very keen though to have a baby, So this is just one of those "things" that sometimes happens, Will keep you posted though... Haana :)

You poor thing. I've been there twice so I know how bad it feels. The best advice anyone gave me at the time was that it is OK to grieve for this loss. In fact you need to.

If anyone tries to tell you it was too early to be a proper baby, or that you can just try again, ignore them. A miscarriage at a very early stage is no less a person to you than if it happened later in the pregnancy.

But if you can take any consolation at all from this experience, remember that your body is telling you that at least you are able to conceive, and sooner or later (hopefully sooner) you will get a combination that clicks properly and the result will be a beautiful baby.

HI Haana,
Nick and I are so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Allow time for your body to heal and your heart to grieve.
Good luck, and I'm here if you want to PM me.

Well I did have a blood test, and it came back positive, I was also given a scan 2 weeks ago and they could see nothing, but she said it would be too early, so we gave it a go anyway, and she was right... So I went back 2 weeks later, and to my surprise a baby and a heartbeat, my husband and I were really excited... I am so tired though, and nautious all day, and am terribly sick of being at home... My girls weren't no where near this bad, so I am assuming it is a boy, as only a boy could be this selfish (haha)... Thanks for all your support guys at a time when I needed it the most, Haana :D

Well done! I agree, it must be a boy - Aidan gave me much more trouble in utero than Jessamy is! ;)

What great news for you and your DH and children.....Congratulations!
I was exactly the same as you with this little man growing inside of me...and all my friends were telling me prior to us finding out that he had to be a boy...cause he was making me so sick and I was not used to having the Y chromosone in my body....( i think it is a myth) but they were right...(so we have been told).
I am so happy for you.....

Apparently the extra sickness is due to the extra testosterone whizzing around.
