I have heard that there is a bonus paid for children who are immunised up to 18 months. I heard that it was to encourage immunisation.

Is this true? If so, how much do you get and how do you get it?

It would really help for this time of the year....

Its only automatic if Centrelink has your childs medicare number. (learnt that one the hard way). You should receive a letter in the mail around that time if they don't have your details.

You can also log onto the centrelink website and fill in a claim form for it. Or go into a branch.

Money = very good!

Just wanted to add that to be eligible for this payment you must have your child's immunisation status up to date. So if you don't vaccinate, a conscientious objector form signed by a doctor will indicate that you are indeed up to date, and the payment will be made to you. :)

Yep it's true, I got paid $220 when Summer turned 18 months. They send you out a letter about a month before hand though. I had to call them up & give them my medicare details though :)

I just filled out my concientious objector form...so I will be getting the payment too....

You can get the payment if your child is up to date...meaning either vaccinated to the schedule...or a conscientious objection form has been completed and submitted...

yeah, it's not to encourage people to immunise. It's just for having a baby 18 months ago.

With DS1 he was registered with medicare so as soon as he was 18 months he got his money came through, DS2's took a little longer, the doctors' hadn't filled out their forms properly and it took me 2 months for it to come through. Not happy as I'd taken his purple book to medicare as soon as he had his 18month jab.
